Literally my favorite cheese burger and mozzarella sticks in the metro east. Nothing compares. Period. I eat at the Park Grill a minimum of once a month. The daily specials are always reasonably priced. The service is always super quick and the staff is always very friendly (Family operated). However, don't expect a fancy dine in experience. This is your greasy spoon hotspot for blue collar workers in the area. I can't recommend this place enough. read more

This unassuming diner was the perfect spot for a post-fishing trip lunch. Very tasty food: I had the hamburger steak with mushroom gravy... Delicious. 8.50 and came with three sides and a slice of bread: I had beets, salad, and green beans. Likely the veggies came from a can, but they were prepared well and tasted great. My son had kid's menu grilled cheese and fries - which were to his satisfaction. Good "home style" cooking for a great price. Friendly staff were especially nice to my boy. Not five stars: place was not the cleanest establishment I've ever been in... Could stand a thorough going over. Warning: cash-only establishment (they do have an ATM available inside). read more

This place is a hidden gem. Super nice people...really good food...and some really cool decorations. Stopped in while visiting customers in the area and was out the door for under $10. If you are looking for fancy...this is not your place. If you want a good meal at a fair price with good portion sizes...this is your place. I give this business a three not because it was not good food, but because they don't appreciate the customer. I say this because in the 21st century this is a business that still runs on CASH ONLY (why is that)? They have an ATM machine on premise so that the customer can not only pay for the food, but also an additional $6.00 to cover the ATM fees (which I counted as a tip for the unfriendly waitress). The building is old and outdated, and they have SO much memorabilia on the walls, but the management must not be worried about cleanliness, as the dust and dirt is think and obviously goes back years. The waitress we had was at best tolerable, but make no mistake she was not friendly at all. My husband and I both got a double burger (which were extremely tasty) and the Smallest $3 order of frozen fries I have ever seen. It did take an hour to cook it, but hey!! So what seems to be a local place for the SPECIAL of the day, only caters to those few. The rest are just there to keep the money flowing in and the owners/mgrs don't do much to make this a place to remember. Just a place to avoid with the economy of today. read more

The owner (and his family) work their buts off to provide fast service and maintain low prices. I especially Love the sloppy joes and chili Mac! Closed on Saturday and Sunday so family can take a well deserved break. If you have any problem at all Mike will make things right for you. read more

Talk about a hidden gem!!! Just an ordinary little grey building at the intersection but I was just told by a veteran who lives near by that I had to try it. So on my way back to St. Louis I stopped in for a quick lunch to go and WOW! Warm friendly home style atmosphere, great customer service but the Italian Beef Sub was INCREDIBLE!! The beef was seasoned perfectly, falling apart tender and oh so good. I live 40 minutes away but I will be back!!! So glad I stopped. read more

My wife and I were just taking a drive, and decided to go to Horseshoe Lake in Illinois, about a 40 min drive from Barnhart, Mo. Before we got there, we thought we get something to eat for lunch, but not fast food. Saw this restaurant on Yelp, and thought why not. A great experience with excellent food. My wife had the chicken and dumplings, I had the fried chicken. Mine came with 3 sides of my choice. Prices were very reasonable, staff very friendly. Just an FYI, cash only, they do have an ATM there. Made our day at the lake more enjoyable. Looking forward to going back to try other things on the menu. read more

Definitely a "dive" establishment but you do get large portions for your money. This place is CASH ONLY, so keep that in mind if you go. Their burgers are the best thing on the menu and quite large. The fried chicken is okay, but the breading isn't well seasoned, imo, and over-cooked. Veggies taste canned, gravy tastes like it comes from a mix. Very friendly servers, and the food arrives quickly if you are there for lunch. Don't expect gourmet fare and you should be satisfied. The parking lot needs lots of repair, but now that spring and summer are arriving, hopefully that will get fixed. read more

I had heard this was a really good place to eat but avoided going there as it doesn't look to be the most inviting place from the outside. I finally gave it a shot last night and let me tell you, I'm shocked this place isn't packed to limit every night. I had Stuffed Bell Pepper with Noodles and two sides. It was delicious! I passed by a table that had Chicken and Dumplings, they looked to be homemade! The restaurant was clean and the people are friendly. This is my new favorite place in Granite City. Come early, they close at 7pm. Bring cash, they don't take cards, however, there is an atm available. read more

My oldest son and I use to frequent here every other week I enjoyed going on Wednesday because their Hungarian stew is unique and delicious. I like the decor and local vibe. Cash only but worth it. Also use to go here with my father before he passed away. Need to get back there asap. read more
