TLDR: The River Rat is an overall good experience, but the food ranged from amazing to mediocre…read more The place itself was relatively lively and cozy. The servers were attentive to our needs. The dishes I ate will be rated separately because of their range in quality. Bread Basket: 4/5 The bread basket that came with the prime rib that I ordered was better than most. It came with multiple freshly baked dinner rolls with some char on them and crispy breadsticks, complemented by a garlicky butter. Soup of the Day (Seafood Bisque): 5/5 This soup was the best dish of all that I had ordered. Despite being a side dish for the prime rib, its rich flavor overshadowed everything else I ate for the evening. House Salad: 2.5/5 The salad is a standard salad that you can skip. Nothing special. Louisiana Lemon Pepper Walleye: 4/5 The walleye was the second best dish. It was a well seasoned, large filet that had a great tartar sauce to go with it. This is a dish I would order again if I came back. Prime Rib: 3/5 The prime rib was surprisingly underwhelming. The edges of the prime were a little tougher than I'd like, and the prime rib itself came out a little cold. The au jus could have been reduced to be a little more concentrated as well. Overall, if I were to come back I would choose to order some different menu items, apart from the soup.

No directions as to where to go and no one bothered to acknowledge me so I waited at the end of the bar. Bartenders took a couple minutes to come by, when she arrived I explained I was here to pick up my cheese BREAD take out order. Her response was pointing to the hostess stand that was empty. I went and stood at the hostess stand, few minutes of listening to the employees giggle around the corner and a girl walking by ask how many. I advised I was there to get a pickup order so she ducked back around the corner for a moment then walked away. Few more minutes pass and a third employee shows up to ask why I am there. I am announce that I placed a take out order and provided my name. She went looking for a piece of paper and asked what my order was. I stated cheese BREAD, she explained with ALL her teenage attitude while rolling her eyes that she needs to check because it's often wrong ...mmmkay Next she takes my money and heads into the kitchen. She leaves the kitchen moments later with a plastic bag then waits at the bar for change from the bartender for 5 minutes while she is holding my HOT food that was getting cold. Finally I got my 45 cents & cold Mozzarella cheese STICKS. Best part about this experience was leaving their restaurant.

Went in early Saturday night, party of four. We were immediately seated and our server Jonah was…read moreright there to take our drink order. This place has a bit of everything, Ribs, Lobster Rolls, Mexican, several fish dishes plus the standard burgers and stuff. When ordering we could super size easily. For example my buddy did 2 Lobster Rolls and I did a full order of ribs. No pricing was discussed, which would make most uneasy, but the upcharge was minimal and glad we. Both did it. We passed on desert but know they are well known for it, so next time.

Your service is terrible, your food is mediocre at best, and the entire place feels poorly run. We came in with a party of 12... and you just lost all 12 of us as customers. The waitress was completely ineffective. Orders were missed, timing was all over the place, and communication was nonexistent. Some of our group finished eating before one person even got their food -- that's unacceptable. Let's talk about the food and presentation: * Fry baskets? Just awkward and unnecessary. * Pretzel with beer cheese -- the pretzel was literally sitting in the cheese, which had a skin on it... so it was either microwaved or sitting way too long. * Beer wasn't cold -- just "kind of" cold. Big difference. * Beer selection is weak and oddly repetitive (how many reds do you need?). * If I had to guess, your beer lines haven't been cleaned in a long time. The burger tasted like a frozen patty -- nothing special at all. The "hot honey fish"? It tasted like straight-up bottled sauce -- like Asian Zing from Buffalo Wild Wings. Not good, not creative. We were told a manager would come by -- never happened. If someone did and that was your manager, you've got a bigger problem. Operationally, this place is a mess: * 3 hostesses for a restaurant this size? Why not have food runners instead? * We didn't receive a significant portion of what we ordered * The dining area is dirty * The parking lot is in rough shape At some point, you've got to be honest with yourselves. The French fries are yummy. I wish there were more tacos instead of 2. The building was really big, they need to put up a bathroom sign to help people where it's at. Overall, I would say it went well.

We came here for my son's birthday and I had never heard of it before. It's away from the main drag…read moreso you really have to know where you are going. It's really a beautiful location along the river. I tried to make reservations which they said they don't take reservations, then when we got there, they wouldn't let us sit in a specific area because they said they were expecting a group of people so we asked about the reservation situation and they said they must be friends of the owner. Anyways, the food options are very good. They even have pizza. So I have no problem with the food or the location, it was more just bad service and a big mixup on one of my friends meal and so he had to watch while we all ate. He didn't get an apology from anyone which surprised me. I got the power bowl which was very good but I was confused when they brought it because it didn't look like a bowl full of ingredients, it was like a plate of ingredients more like fajita ingredients. But like I said, I did enjoy it very much. One of the people in our party got a salad with salmon on it, and she said it was very heavy with spices which she didn't think she saw listed in the menu. One of my sons got a pizza and he absolutely loved it and then two people got hamburgers which they loved also along with the great french fries. Although I only gave it three stars, I would come back here again hoping that maybe it was just one bad waitress. She rarely checked on us. In fact I don't think she checked on us at all because I had to flag her down to get carry out boxes and she didn't bring a lot of the Side ingredients we had asked for like someone asked for ranch dressing, mine was supposed to come with sour cream and salsa, and another person didn't get their side of cheese.

First 5stars:Gluten free cauliflower pasta Which is the best…read moreGF pasta noodles we have ever had. Pizza with yummy cups of pepperoni. Lasagna 4stars It had been many years since I had dined here. It is kind of in a corner of my area we just don't get to for some reason. One night we couldn't decide where we wanted to dine and we all said hey let's go to Luigi's. Our first visit was amazing when it came to the fettuccine Alfredo with cauliflower noodles. The Alfredo sauce was absolutely delicious and tasty. The bread basket was amazing with little homemade bread rolls. The spaghetti with meat sauce and meatball was just disappointing and uneventful . More and more we are finding many of the Italian restaurants we go to have spaghetti and meat sauce that is just not what it used to be. It didn't have any garlic flavor, was very heavy tomato based VERY acidic and the meatball was again just OK. Lasagna was delicious. I asked to add Alfredo sauce on top ,one of my favorite things to do when it comes to lasagna. We returned for a birthday dinner probably just four or five weeks later. Basically we all ordered the same items except for the lasagna. I went for the pizza which was very very very good. The Alfredo with gluten-free noodles were not very good this time. There was so much parsley in it. All you could taste was a dry green flavor, it did not have a great Parmesan flavor, and there was no garlic that we could taste. The chicken was OK. The spaghetti with meat sauce and meatballs I can only explain as being subpar. This time it did taste like tomato paste diluted with tomato sauce, and it was actually the same thickness and flavor of the minestrone soup with very Little meat . The meatball again was just OK. We could pour the liquid sauce off of the plate. Noodles appeared to be drained, it just seemed like the sauce was extremely thin with minimal meat and just minimal flavor. Really not sure if we would return. Inside is a little dated, however well maintained and clean. Our first time dining here we had great service. This second visit, again our server was subpar. When they serve pizza, they put a piece on your plate and serve that to you and then bring the whole pizza to the table. The waitress asked if we wanted Romano cheese on on the food and I said sure. She failed to put Romano cheese on the piece of pizza she herself served to me on a plate. I did not say anything ,and it could have been Me but the two people at the table felt the same way I did, our server just didn't seem invested in our dining experience. We did let our server know about our disappointment with the spaghetti and Alfredo dish. A manager never came to speak with us, they never offered to take anything off of the bill considering my son didn't even eat his spaghetti with meat sauce(where was the meat actually there was not much that could be located). And , the waitress could see how much parsley was in the fettuccine Alfredo. She did ask if they could remake our meals, but we are not very comfortable with sending our meals back to be remade. Removing the spaghetti with meat sauce would've truly been an appropriate move. We did not expect that two whole meals would be removed from the bill being my partner was so hungry he went ahead and ate his birthday dinner ,fettuccine Alfredo.
