I have been to this place twice now on the weekends. We were expecting a little wait each time, but we were able to get sat immediately, even on a Sunday when the Church rush was hitting. Both times they were super speedy getting our food out to us. It was under 10 minutes each time, even with a bunch of food! The first time I got the French toast, and the second time I got the Crepes. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. This is my favorite breakfast place now, and will ALWAYS recommend it. read more

Fantastic first visit to Baldwin Cafe today! Food arrived hot and fresh to the table within 10 minutes of our ordering, and everyone loved what they had. I had an order of pancakes and bacon; pancakes order is 3 large pancakes (butter optional), and WORTH ALL THE CARBS! SO GOOD!! Bacon was cooked perfectly per my request (this weirdo loves chewy bacon). My husband really enjoyed the Italian sausage omelette, and we both appreciated that the omelette was cooked low and slow so it was still yellow on the outside, and cooked through, not over cooked or brown. This is a very reasonably priced local cafe that prepares quality home style meals. Whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner, you'll find the owner-proprietor working in the open kitchen grill preparing food that was ordered. Although I've only been here for breakfast, I have to believe the lunch and dinner entrees are equally as good as the breakfast items they serve. The service here is really welcoming and fast paced. The waitresses are very kind and do their best. The wait time for food can be a little long since the kitchen is small and there's only one cook but it's good food. We stopped by here Saturday morning for brunch and we were a little sad that the prices went up significantly but that's how all restaurants are at the moment. The cook was very friendly, he came over and made sure everything he made was to our liking. They all seem very hard working and it's a good place to support a small business. Here in Orin Michigan at Baldwin Cafe. Not much to say but "Awesome!". Had Homemade Soup of German Tomato, Swiss & Mushroom Burger. Sampled the Coney Chili and now it's time for a nap. Super service by Angela and Rob and personal meet up with Chef Adrian. Here team here is top notch. Great back ground music and sitting at the bar had first hand views of it all. This is the restaurant you definitely want to stop in for an omelette with everything, pancakes stacked,( my personal favorite,) crispy bacon & hash browns, a juicy burger, chicken sandwich or good grilled cheese with a fresh side salad. The Daily Special's are awesome and the soup choices are a must for eat-in and carry-out! Absolutely, have a coney or three with the very addictive french fries. We came for lunch and catch up with friends. We've been coming to the Baldwin Cafe for 20+ years, and the food and service has remained great! We ended talking for almost 2 hours. Our waitress was great. I left her a $10.00 tip for a $12.00 meal because I knew she could have flipped the table once or twice. Love this place! Highly recommend! read more

Best neighborhood dinner around. It's lthe "Cheers" of breakfast joints. Friendly owner, friendly staff. Many of the waitresses have been there for 20+ years. Instead of waiting 60 plus minutes across the street for bread and yolk - fortunately found this hidden gem across the street. A kind of small diner, maybe 10 booths and 10 bar seats .shared a breakfast burrito supreme- lots of chili on top! Huge portions .added an order of hash browns- cooked to perfection! Baldwin Cafe was definitely A-OK. It is on the small side, so we had to wait for a booth, but the food was decent breakfast fare. Nothing unfortunately stood out for us as being excellent, but there was nothing really against it either. The menu board did have some unique sounding meals (I think there was a cheeseburger omelette the day we were there?), but I was reluctant to try something I'd never had before on a first visit. We'll probably stick with somewhere we don't have to wait, even though the Baldwin Cafe regulars seem to really enjoy their special place :) read more

We waited for about 20 minutes to get breakfast one morning. Unfortunately both of our eggs in our omlettes were undercooked and runny in spots. The omlettes were not very good at all. It seems like they were trying to push the food out of the kitchen too quickly since they were so busy. Based on the wait and the reviews on here, I expected better food. Disclaimer: I'm not a huge breakfast food fan, and I don't eat out for breakfast a ton. In my opinion most breakfast food places taste pretty much the same where ever you go. Eggs are eggs, toast is toast, and sausage is sausage. I got the omelet with corned beef hash. It was pretty good, but nothing to get excited over. 1 piece of toast was rather burnt the other was fine. OJ tasted like OJ should. Hash browns tasted like hash browns. The difference with this place is their prices are very reasonable. So I will go to this place over the fancy broken yolk place across the street that has the same food that tastes the same and charges you a lot more. read more

Not a bad stop for a quick breakfast. Staff was friendly, and food came out quick like the diner-style bar which is great when you are alone. I've been going to Baldwin cafe since I can remember but lately it's going down hill. Today was final straw as I'm waiting for my carry out I'm watching two confused waitresses run around but worse the girl cooking had this little old man running around like crazy while she stood over the griddle picking her face and then handling food. I'm sure you know the feeling. The one where everyone is hungry, but no one wants to take the time to go home and cook, just to turn around and leave the house again. The feeling when you want to eat out, but don't want to spend a fortune. And finally, the feeling where you want to sit quietly eating your food without it feeling like an event. My husband and I felt that way today. It was the, "I just bought a ton of groceries-but don't want to go home yet-and don't really want to go to a mainstream restaurant-and don't want McDonald's," kinda day. He suggested the Baldwin Cafe. The small diner we pass every day, always point out, but never stop to eat there. Today, we stopped. And we were so glad we did! What a small, understated little diner. There are only about 8 or 10 booths, and a row of diner style counter stools. The place was literally run by 3 "kids." I'm showing my age a bit here, but I was amazed when our server said she works every day. I figured she was still in high school. Apparently, she's college age? Same with the cook and dishwasher. These kids were so in sync that I asked if everyone working was family. We explained that we were new, and our server greeted us with an excited, "Hope you like it and return! We have a lot of regulars." Which was very apparent, because at 2:30 in the afternoon the place had a steady stream of customers all being greeted by name as they entered. Their menu boasts, "2007 Prices" and "All Menu Items $5.99 or less". Our total bill with full meals, soda and tax came to just around $15! The cook waved and thanked us for coming, saying hope to see you again soon! And he will, because we'll be heading back soon for the $2.89 breakfast special. Two eggs, hash browns, two strips of bacon or two sausage links, and toast. Available until 11am. Oh and the great service too, of course! read more

If you want to be treated like a valued customer and have tasty inexpensive food this is your place. I love the chicken lemon rice soup and appreciate how clean they keep the place, which is rare for a low cost diner. One drawback is it's chilly in winter, they don't build these strip malls for Michigan winters, I'm sure the heating bill is huge. read more
