We visited Terry's for a family brunch with my in-laws this past weekend. We've been here for dinner before, but this was our first time trying their brunch menu. The restaurant itself was clean, and our service was prompt and friendly throughout the meal. During the daytime, however, the atmosphere felt quite dark and more like a bar than a traditional brunch spot. Our children ordered the Fruity Crème Waffle and Fruity Crème Pancakes with sausage. My husband ordered the lobster bisque and Eggs Benedict, while I had the breakfast burrito and a Bloody Mary. The kids enjoyed their meals, and my breakfast burrito and Bloody Mary were both good. Nothing particularly unique or memorable, but solid choices overall. Unfortunately, my husband's meal was more disappointing. His lobster bisque arrived barely warm, and the lobster on top was ice cold. He also felt that some of the seafood resembled imitation crab rather than lobster. To the restaurant's credit, he sent it back, but it wasn't a great first impression. The Eggs Benedict was decent, though not especially filling or noteworthy. Our biggest issue was the value. While the food was generally good, the prices felt very high for the portion sizes and overall quality. For example, one waffle cut into four pieces with a drizzle of sauce priced at $17 seemed difficult to justify. Several menu items left us feeling the same way. This is my second time here, and clearly I didn't learn from the first -- but it also looks like ownership hasn't either. Your service is terrible, your food is mediocre at best, and the entire place feels poorly run. We came in with a party of 12... and you just lost all 12 of us as customers. The waitress was completely ineffective. Orders were missed, timing was all over the place, and communication was nonexistent. Some of our group finished eating before one person even got their food -- that's unacceptable. Let's talk about the food and presentation: * Fry baskets? Just awkward and unnecessary. * Pretzel with beer cheese -- the pretzel was literally sitting in the cheese, which had a skin on it... so it was either microwaved or sitting way too long. * Beer wasn't cold -- just "kind of" cold. Big difference. * Beer selection is weak and oddly repetitive (how many reds do you need?). * If I had to guess, your beer lines haven't been cleaned in a long time. The burger tasted like a frozen patty -- nothing special at all. The "hot honey fish"? It tasted like straight-up bottled sauce -- like Asian Zing from Buffalo Wild Wings. Not good, not creative. We were told a manager would come by -- never happened. If someone did and that was your manager, you've got a bigger problem. I took my parents out to dinner to show my appreciation for everything they do for our family, and we had a wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived, everyone had smiles on their faces, and the staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and helpful. The food was delicious, and the presentation added a fun touch--the little fry baskets were adorable, and my nephew absolutely loved the confetti milkshake. I also ordered the soft-serve margarita to go, and it was absolutely mouthwatering. It's definitely one to enjoy responsibly because it's so good that it's easy to drink too quickly! My husband and I tried Terry's Terrace for a date night after seeing a lot of hype on Instagram. Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to the social media excitement. We started with margaritas, which tasted like colored ice with zero flavor. Our waitress was very kind and swapped them for strawberry daiquiris, but those were just as bland. For dinner, I ordered the Tacos Del Mar ($22.99 for two tacos) and my husband got the New England lobster roll. Both dishes were completely flavorless. We ended up spending over $150 for a very disappointing meal. While we didn't expect a five-star establishment, we did expect the food and drinks to taste good. I hate that I'm starting this review, trying to resolve a crisis point of value in dining. For a number of reasons, prices have started to climb recently. And, for places that weren't known for being cheap, it's an eye-opener. My wife and I decided to get drinks when we got home after seeing what we'd be paying for food. $20 for a lobster roll sounds like a good price, until you realize the roll is the size of a hotdog bun. I really wish I hadn't started this way, but it's unavoidable. This is listed as a $$ price restaurant, but it's really closer to a $$$ restaurant now. But, back to my question of value, what you get is uniformly excellent. My Nashville chicken sandwich was a decent size, and painfully, authentically hot. The accompanying fries are perfectly crispy. My wife's salmon Florentine was flawless, and her mom's Rueben was rock solid. The price point is slightly out of what I would want to do regularly. But, this also clarified what's important to me. Given a choice, I would overpay a bit for quality. Also, service and creativity in the menu are always top-notch. We were looking into coming back once we heard there was a new chef and new menu items but the newer reviews are not much better. Come on Terry's get it together. You used to be amazing on all counts. Maybe very infrequently we would get one item overcooked but you rocked everything else including service. Now there is not one area that out-rocks another, every area presents poorly. I usually don't miss my lobster corn dogs at Valentine's Day( I know... but you have to try them;) And, the Ramune sauce!) We would typically come in a few weekends in a row to enjoy them and other specials. Last year we came only once. This year we did not bother. We miss you. Please work it out! We got the Crab Saganaki for an appetizer, the crab meat and the flavor of the hot cheese do not work at all, I would advise to not order this. My friend got the clam chowder which was terrible, like a mix between elmers glue and flour. No flavor, terrible texture. I got the beer battered fish and chips, the fish was good and looked like a house made tarter sauce, was nice. Came with cole slaw which was very dry and very bland. Overall a good meal... The service was welcoming and quick and the festive decor truly brought a cozy atmosphere to the restaurant. The milkshakes were bright and sugared however with the fourteen dollar price tag, you are essentially paying for the presentation and experience. The Lobster Rolls were a bit underwhelming especially considering the price of twenty dollars for one and some fries. Came here for brunch on a Saturday. Group of 4, sat right away and server was quick to give us menus and take our drink order - 3 of us had the mimosa flight and 1 water. We chatted a bit before ordering but the server checked in on us frequently. We ordered a waffle with bacon, a basic egg, hash brown, bacon, toast combo, a veggie omelet and the cornbread w/ chorizo gravy. 3 meals came out quick, mine took a bit longer like they were almost done eating before mine came out longer. Terry's Terrace has quickly become a family favorite! The seafood and everything else on their menu are absolutely spectacular. We've never had an unpleasant experience here--ever. During our most recent visit, we tried the crab cakes, crabby chicken tacos, and the fish and chips with beer batter, and every single dish was tremendously delicious. The flavors were spot-on, and the quality of the food exceeded our expectations yet again. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for amazing food and a consistently great dining experience. We'll definitely be visiting again soon and have already been recommending Terry's Terrace to all of our friends. This place is a true gem! We went there with a 4 PM reservation. We had tickets for a show at the Fox Theater downtown at 7 PM. We figured we would get here, eat and make the drive downtown (considering possible traffic backups), park and walk over to the Fox. We were seated quickly and nobody came over for a good 25 minutes. Finally our waitress appeared and she would only take our drink order, as she informed us there was another table that she has to take their order. By 4:45, we had ordered and had been waiting for some time at least for our salads or appetizer. At 5 PM, our appetizer came out. By 5:15, I had told our server that we needed the food just boxed up and we have to take it to go. She apologized and said they were backed up in the kitchen. I looked around and other tables who had different servers and arrived long after us, already had their appetizers and food, so no, not backed up. She came out with my husband's overcooked chicken strips and no box. I told her we need a box (again). By 5:30, I flagged a hostess down and begged her to help us. She was shocked I hadn't received my food. His was already boxed up and sitting on the table. By 5:40, nearly in tears from frustration, I walked to the front of the restaurant to again beg for help in getting my order out. One hour and 45 minutes after we arrived and $80.00 later, my food came out boxed up. I came home from the show and opened the box and laughed at the size of the sirloin and by then, it was dried out (we were forced to run it home before the show) and I can't even eat it. My daughter and I went yesterday for Mother's Day brunch. It was absolutely disappointing. Then came the bill, well let me tell you what I tried to eat. a slice of prime rib, California blend veggies and a salad that I had to go all around the buffet to find some cheese, broccoli, carrots, and cauliflower. The prime rib was over cooked no cups for the au ju sauce and that too was cold. needless to say I didn't eat the meat or the veggies and just had the only thing with taste, my salad. can't mess that up, unless you get thinned out ranch dressing which is what I got. Back to the bill, the waiter forgot to mention the price of said buffet, ready for this, $47.99/person. I about fell out, had he told me the price I would have passed and ordered off the regular menu. I in no way had $48 worth of food. What a fun find! The focus is on seafood with many lobster specials and unusual cocktails. We started our meal sharing a lobster bisque. As not as flavorful as I would like but a good amount of lobster. It was delicious. I had the walleye, pan fried, with a baked potato and a side salad. The portions were very generous and the fish was perfectly cooked with a very light coating - I had enough of the fish and potato that I enjoyed them for lunch the next day. My partner had the shrimp and lobster penne and said it was the best that she had in years- a true thumbs up. Service was friendly and prompt. The building isn't much to look at on the outside but the inside is warm with wood booths- quiet and cozy.
