    California Roll Omlet
    Amy S.

Tried the California roll omlet. It tasted really good, the crab was fresh, a few bits of shell were in my omlet. The servers were friendly and attentive. Love the art and quotes on the wall. Not to busy on a weekday for breakfast.

    Reuben - best sauerkraut ever!
    Doug R.

Bailey was our server and she rocks! The Reuben sandwich has the best (sour) sauerkraut I have eaten in at least a decade. The fries were appropriately crispy and potato-y The dining room is spacious, clean and not overstuffed with seating. The restroom was also clean. I wish I lived closer, because I would be a regular.

Yummy food, attentive staff, and generous portions! This is a hidden gem in Troy. Very homey feel, perfect for any occasion. We LOVE their sticky buns, a must try. Their stuffed avocado salad was huge, but the dressing was nice and light and very refreshing. It came with a whole avocado and large scoops of tuna. If you are a fan of brussel sprouts, definitely order their brussel sprout hash from the specials menu! The crab cake Benedict was yummy too. Very generous portion but not too heavy or salty! They have a parking lot in the back and even offer DoorDash. Lots of menu options if you are craving sweet or salty. They even have delicious Vietnamese food! You can't go wrong. Definitely stop by their Troy or Rochester location!

Greeted when we entered and our waitress, Sharon, was super attentive and nice. Food was just ok, nothing amazing to lure us back. Took off a star because the food was super slow in arriving to the table and they weren't super busy. I had scrambled eggs, ham, toast, potatoes. My husband had a scramble, his comment, "too many potatoes."

Family owned breakfast/brunch restaurant that offers plenty of different food. They even have thai and vietnamese food. The design is very cozy and the service was quick. My husband and I enjoyed the food a lot.

    Garden Hash

Unassuming place from the outside. Great food within. A mix of American and Asian recipes. We ate here twice in a row for breakfast. They have an impressive menu (large). I had the garden hash 5/5 and the burrata toast 5/5. My wife and kids all ordered different things. All 5/5. Yummy fancy interesting tasty.

If you're looking for a cozy spot with amazing food, Recipes is the place to be! This small Asian-American owned gem has a fantastic ambiance and the service is top-notch. I highly recommend the sticky buns--just the right amount of sweetness. Also tried the Brussels sprouts hash, stuffed avocado salad, and crab cake Benedict. All delicious, fresh, and generous portions. Tons of options for any craving, and everything is made with care. Perfect for breakfast or brunch!

Food was good. Service was excellent. Our server Rico was very attentive and pleasant. The restaurant had a British or traverse city small restaurant. Very nice ambiance.

Recipes is a nice little breakfast spot that's close by! Cozy! Super friendly waiters and waitresses. Service is always 10/10. This place is nothing too special, but is always consistent. This time I got the crab cake eggs Benedict. Wasn't too salty surprisingly. The crab cakes were not too overpowering. It was well seasoned. The Benedict sauce was on point (one of the better ones around)! Can't wait to try something else on the menu!

    Straggler skillet with multigrain toast.

Our party of three stopped in on a Saturday morning for breakfast. The restaurant is light and bright. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. My mother had the avocado toast with poached eggs, which she enjoyed. My husband had an omelette which he also enjoyed. I had the Straggler Skillet. Skillets are my go to when out for breakfast and usually it's a safe choice, but not at Recipes. The straggler comes with ham, tomato, onion and mushrooms. Usually the vegetables in a skillet are cooked before being added to the potatoes. Not here. I believe they took scoops of the vegetables and added them to the potatoes before topping with cheese. The only cooking seems to have been the melting of the cheese before adding the eggs. I ate part of the skillet before the raw white onion became too much to continue eating. In addition, I ordered hot tea and the others ordered coffee. My husband asked for a refill but the hostess who was helping refill cups wouldn't give him coffee because she saw my hot water pot near him. We got it straightened out but it took a lot more explaining then it really should have. The customer has a coffee cup and asked for a refill. Why give him a hard time because there is a tea pot on the table where two other people are also seated? We are glad we gave Recipes a try but likely won't return.

The food and service were excellent. We love coming here!!

The food and service were excellent. The menu has a lot to choose from. We love coming here.

BUT I BROUGHT MY TENT AND COLEMAN GRILL WITH ME. WHAT NOW?!?!?!
    Amy B.

I wasn't sure what to expect coming here, and have heard both good and mediocre responses to Recipes. Breakfast has become a tight market around here, and it's hard to choose where to eat sometimes. The competition's stiff, and Recipes seems to do just fine. Walking in, the place wasn't all that busy. I reviewed the menu and had a hard time deciding what to get. Not the snazziest menu, but enough options for whomever you are dining with. I noticed on their daily specials that they had a chicken and waffles special, and that seemed to catch my eye, so I went ahead and ordered it. I really wasn't sure what to expect when it came out, but I bumped the review up a star because the food was really good. I don't know why I wasn't expecting much, but I was surprised at how good the food came out. The dish really left a good impression, and overall, I was very happy with what I experienced. Service here is on point and the place seems to be well run. My server was professional and prompt, along with the other staff I noticed working there today. My only complaint is that there doesn't seem to be much of a waiting area here, and I know the place can sometimes get rather busy. I don't know how they handle that, but I wouldn't wait outside for this place, because I can go to the coney next door if I'm starving like I was today. Overall, I really liked the food here, and would return in the future.

I like the decor, cleanliness and kind service. Chicken Noodle (soup of the day) Hearty and especially satisfying on a cold day with blizzard temps. I recommend to get it with bread or biscuits because the crackers make the already salty soup even saltier. Berryliciois Waffle Belgian waffle with mixed berries, lineage mixed berry sauce and homemade custard sauce. Without a doubt, the bomb!! Soft and chewy, fresh and crispy on the edges with just the exact amount of berry sauce drizzle. You don't need syrup, although I added it anyway, especially with that scoop of custard sauce right in the middle. Not to be shared next time! Michigan cherry salad Mixed greens, dried (and tart) Michigan, cherries, strawberries, green, apples, crumbled, goat, cheese, onions, tossed with raspberry vinaigrette. I thought the cherries were comparatively chewy to the other ingredients which disrupted the pace of eating. I also shouldn't have added smoked salmon - which was fine, just I think the chicken would have been a better pairing here. Service is nice and outstanding. I'll definitely come back here for more waffles! That's all....

I ordered the "Double Trouble" -- French toast loaded with cookie dough, Oreos, Nutella, and chocolate sauce. Let me just say... that dish is a train straight to diabetes. In all seriousness, it was absolutely delicious and indulgent, but definitely on the overly sweet side. If you have a serious sweet tooth, this one's for you. My wife went with the Classic Eggs Benedict, and that was excellent -- well-balanced flavors and cooked just right. The breakfast potatoes, however, were a bit bland. They were cooked well texture-wise but could definitely use more seasoning. Service was so-so, though it seemed like they were pretty busy, which likely played a role. The location is great -- conveniently about a mile from Woodside Church, one of the largest churches in Michigan -- so I can imagine it gets especially packed on weekends. One important note: restroom maintenance needs attention. With only a single restroom per gender, cleanliness is critical. My wife noticed the toilet seat wasn't clean, which is something that should be addressed promptly, especially in a high-traffic establishment. Overall, the food quality was strong, particularly the main dishes, and we'd likely return -- but there are definitely a few operational details that could elevate the experience.

My friend enjoyed her beet salad. It was quite large and looked very fresh. I'm not sure why our server seemed so keen to turn over our table since the place has emptied out. Maybe her shift was over? It was quite odd though because she came over several times to see if we needed anything (we were fine, chatting) then immediately whipped out the credit card machine so I could pay.
