Had a pretty good meal here! Came in on a weekend morning and it was like crickets, which we found odd. My matcha latte was pretty mid -- not a coffee shop so I wouldn't necessarily expect anything incredible but it could have been hotter, at least. The frittata was very good and a generous portion -- I took part of it home for later. The pistachio pesto sauce really adds to it. I'd return to try more of their brunch menu (or others) without complaint -- why not!? read more

Overall I did have a wonderful time here and I do look forward to coming again. We have visited many different restaurants owned by this group, and love their food. I do want to start with some thoughts before I give the highlights. We were charged a percent for using a credit card. I cannot speak to the in-person menu, but I combed the online menu and it did not mention that. We were also charged for ranch. Most places do not do that, and we were not informed there would be an upcharge. Most places allow you a sauce to go with fries. Also, for my meal, there is an image of an extra sauce which it did not come with, but we were charged for two small portions of ranch. Last, the server was just okay. I always enthusiastically ask questions to get to know more about a place. I asked if they had any other fruity drinks. She pointed to the drink menu and indicated just the Paloma. I said, but you have a full bar, this is the only fruity drink you make? She did not want to ask the bar, but I asked her to. The bar apparently only came up with one other drink idea, which I ended up getting two drinks listed on the menu (both very good) but it seemed like work for her to go out of her way to inquire. I also bet they could have made many fruity drinks, like maybe a Mai Tai, or some equivalent. Oh well. On the other hand, the Paloma was actually very good. It was a quality Paloma and I do recommend. Their other drink was seasonal with lavender, also a very nice drink. Most of the other places, like Honcho, I have no problem with getting a variety of drinks or inquiring about them, and the bar tender here did a great job. I came here because I was targeted by an ad on Instagram. This place was not on my radar, but since they created a meal (Steak-frites) very similar to Le Relais in Paris and New York, etc... I wanted to try it. It came with bottomless parm fries. The fries were crispy, savory, and delightful. The steak was super well cooked and was like butter. You did not even need a knife, it cut with a fork. Since I love next day leftovers, the steak was still super delicious and tender the next day. It was still like butter and cut with a fork. I would absolutely come back for that and bring the rest of my family. We also tried the tri-tip sandwich. We were told the bread was made fresh. I thought it was very good and very tender. My husband would have liked an au jus or horseradish sauce. He would try the hamburger next, but I would love another steak-frites, like right now! We were sad the coffee and pastry section closed early. In the past, at Honcho, we would get coffee and pastry after dinner since their coffee tends to be really good and quality. I would consider coming for brunch to try some. We talked to a gentleman who was part of the business as he was working hard. He was very kind and knowledgeable and took the time to hear our thoughts. I told him I was here for the steak. He thought I had a "but". I did not, it was great and I hope they can maintain that price point and the second serving of fries, because that was my main reason for visiting. He let us know the menu recently changed. I am not able to compare since this was my first time, but I liked that they had a steak dinner and pizza. We stopped by Lincoln Yard last Saturday to try out the new menu being posted on their social media accounts. The menu did not disappoint. My husband wanted to try the pepperoni pizza as an app, but we opted to try to the new elote pizza instead for a bit of a twist. The pizza was one of the best we ever had. The Peruvian sauce drizzled on top was so good, we could have gladly dipped each bite in the sauce. For entrees we ordered the tri tip sandwich, the pork Milanese, and the Wagyu steak frites. All were amazing and served in generous portions. The parmesean fries that accompanied the sandwich and Wagyu had great flavor and were perfectly crispy. Even our son who generally doesn't love parmesean loved the fries. The pork Milanese was pounded thin with a light breading and a flavorful sauce atop a potato celery root mash. Now....the pot pie. None of us had ever eaten a pot pie. That's right never. However, as the number one pot pie in Michigan we couldn't resist ordering to give it a taste. Wow - we can see why it holds that title. The cheddar biscuit topping was unique and the perfect complement to the pie, especially with the hot honey drizzle adding just the right amount of sweetness. Filled with their famous rotisserie chicken, a creamy sauce and fresh veggies it was outstanding. We topped off the night with the salted caramel bumpy cake. A rich and decadent dessert making elevating a Michigan staple to the next level. The new menu is a hit and we will be back soon. read more

I have been hearing about this place a lot recently so I met a friend for dinner on a Monday. When you walk in, you are greeted by a bright and vibrantly decorated dining room with the bar, pizza oven station, and kitchen all visible to the patrons. The tables and chairs look a bit like they were revived from the mid-80's but I believe that is by design and not truly "old" furniture. Still comfy... We were seated right away by a pleasant hostess, given menus, and then greeted by our server, Tommy, who was very cheerful despite still busy taking care of his crowded section. We each ordered the Bunkhouse Baseline Deluxe (basically, a double patty smash burger served with fries). When mine arrived, I cut into it so I could eat half at a time and found it to be very undercooked so I called Tommy over and he had it remade. He did not make me feel like I was being picky or that I was putting them out. He apologized and quickly rushed it over to the kitchen. I appreciated how kind he was about it. The kitchen must have moved my order to the top of the pile because he had a new plate to me in record time. He also waited for me to cut into it to be sure it was cooked all the way through. It was and I happily scarfed down half the meal right away. The burger is excellent - I highly recommend if you like smash burgers. The fries were homemade and they make their own version of ranch dressing (a buttermilk, dill dressing that was very tasty with the fries). Came for brunch with several friends. The space is attractive, plenty of space and light, creative decor. Our server was friendly throughout, however seemed to lack confidence and maybe experience. Everything took quite a long time including just getting our coffee. We were told new coffee was brewing but we received it lukewarm. Later when we were offered refills, the server mused in front of us if our cups should be refilled one at a time or maybe go get something to fill up with coffee and bring it to the table. We never did get the sugar. The food took a while to come out even though it wasn't that busy. It did arrive at the same time for everyone and was attractively presented. Unfortunately everyone agreed that the food looked better than it tasted. The fritatta lacked flavor, though the roasted mushrooms and pesto sauce were a nice touch. My friend who had the pulled pork scramble said there was something off about the overall flavor. Another friend that had the avocado and egg toast, said the croissant didn't taste fresh. Sadly no one at the table finished their meals. I will say that prior to this visit I heard good things about this restaurant and friends had a good experience with dinner. Ordered super salad jr, half Caesar, no croutons, rotisserie chicken with Peruvian chili, curried couscous, Napa slaw, olive oil and orange cornbread, white bean soup, lobster Union Mac, side of Brussels. $113.27 They do charge you for using CC, of course they do. How annoying. The white bean soup sample is good, bit lemony, comes with potatoes. Food all comes out in a timely manner. The super salad Jr is okay, the tomatoes are wilted or roasted some, not my favorite. The Caesar salad is good. Comes with garlic panko instead of croutons. The lobster union Mac wasn't bad, the penne pasta doesn't work for the Mac, the spiral would have been a better noodle. The rotisserie chicken is good, not dry. The Peruvian chili tastes fresh, not much heat to it though. The curried couscous was so-so, not my thing. The Napa cabbage salad was good. The olive oil orange cornbread with the spicy honey butter was good, you need the butter since the cornbread is quite grainy and dry. Table clean-up is a bit slower. read more

For the second Saturday in a row, I was watching Fox 2 News Detroit and they did a great job of showcasing a local business, Lincoln Yard. It is located in a neighborhood in Birmingham that I previously lived in for over 5 years quite some time ago and they converted the former bus garage to a unique space. Union Joints is a familiar local business group to me due to a couple of their outstanding restaurants in nearby Clarkston. I was curious to try as I wasn't aware of this establishment previously as it is at a location a little off of the path across from the local ice arena. I saw several delicious items for breakfast, but I had already made my own breakfast that morning and was really yearning for the chicken pot pie that I had seen featured on the news. They mentioned to me that was an entree from the dinner menu and I was there in the late brunch timeframe. The Chef even was kind enough to chat with me that the chicken pot pie was so popular, they were challenged keeping up with demand which is a great sign in my opinion. Therefore, I examined the brunch menu and decided on the Company Chicken Sandwich. It was a grilled chicken sandwich with a delicious aioli, green goddess sauce, and was served with a side of fries. The sandwich and fries were a very nice second choice and I enjoyed the atmosphere seated at one of the two bars adjacent to the open dining area sipping a Michigan made Cheboygan Blood Orange Honey beer. As I was sitting there I struck up a conversation with a friendly lady, Olivia, that was seated next to me who had previously worked with Union Joints and explained more of the back story which was interesting to hear. Amani provided attentive service at the circular bar, and I noticed she also seemed to be covering some adjacent tables as well as the restaurant was very popular this morning. Much to my surprise, Kylie, the General Manager, came by with a "to go" bag which included the desired pot pie I originally came for at "no charge" which blew me away as a customer although I generously compensated my gratuity to cover this genuine kindness you just can't make up. Then, a few minutes later, one of the owners, Curt Catallo, came by and we discussed my wonderful and very surprising experience as a first time customer at this location. I shared with him my experience and how helpful it was to have his business featured on the news as I wouldn't have known about it otherwise even though I was very familiar with the neighborhood. My theme this year is "Kindness meets kindness " and I am thrilled to write this review based on my unique experience on this day. I can't wait to try the pot pie later. I definitely will be a repeat customer as businesses that treat their staff and their customers with such kindness and respect truly deserve to thrive! read more

Went there for brunch today with a large group. I didn't even know this place existed until today, but it is owned by the same people who own the Clarkston Union and Vinsetta Garage, so I will be back! I had the chorizo burrito with crispy redskins. The potatoes were so good that I couldn't stop eating them to eat the burrito. I also ordered the cinnamon-caramel monkey bread to share, which I didn't get a picture of because I tore into it as soon as it was set in front of me. It was also delicious! My only issue was that some of the food wasn't hot enough for my liking. I started with a chai latte that was a bit too lukewarm for my taste, and my burrito was downright cool. I didn't send it back because I didn't want my potatoes to get cold and also I was pretty full by that point anyway. Lily (our server) was great! I'm a fan of Union Joints, except for a previous experience at Fenton Fire Hall (now closed), I have enjoyed dining at the various joints. So when I learned of Lincoln Yard while in the neighborhood, I was eager to try. Since it was still warm, patio dining was available, in addition to the large dining area and bar. The seats by the pizza oven are probably the best in the house. I would love to watch the pizza brown and the cheese get bubbly. Though not vast, there is something for everyone on this menu. For lunch, in addition to salads, sandwiches, and pizza, a few rotisserie and smoked meats are available. Of course, a few mac and cheese dishes, a Union Joints staple, are also available. There are some vegan options, for example, rotisserie cauliflower and stuffed sweet potatoes that I would have happily had. I ordered the olive oil and orange cornbread. I loved the flavor combination and the sweet/spicy butter that accompanied it, but thought that it was overbaked (so dry!). For the main, I had the Otto Burger with bacon added. The burger was topped with raclette cheese, tomato aioli, and red onion jam. Unfortunately, ¼ of the patty was inexplicably cooked to a "well done" temperature whereas the rest was more medium rare, my preferred temperature. I also did not like one of the toppings - not sure which one added the odd taste. The fries were superb: a tender interior with a nice crispy exterior. Wow! This might be my favorite union group restaurant! Since discovering Lincoln Yard two weeks ago we have visited 3 times! First visit- brunch! Brunch here was fantastic! The menu is very reasonably priced and we love the fun flavor additions to brunch classics! We got the grilled cheese with tomato soup and the chicken burrito! They were both classic yet unique and I would recommend trying them. We were so impressed that we tried dinner just a few days later Visit 2- dinner For dinner we started off with the dip trio, and it's a MUST ORDER! My husband is from Turkey and it typically so picky when it comes to Mediterranean inspired dishes in the US. But this was a winner. He loved the spices in the dips and the fresh bread. I am typically not a hummus fan but this dip hit different and it was both of our favorites. For entrees I got the Brussel sprout special bowl and omg the yogurt sauce better stay on the menu because we dipped everything in that. My husband got the chicken and you need to as well. I LOVE grocery store rotisserie chicken but this was next level. I've never had chicken so moist, seasoned, and perfect. Honestly life changing. The sides where also fantastic but if you've ever been to any other union restaurant, you'd know that already. It was fresh, seasoned, and delicious. At each of our visits the service was stellar. I'm usually such a photo person but we devoured this food so quick my phone definitely did not eat first. I've been eyeing this place for a while and I was in the area and finally able to give it a try. It's not far off Woodward and with a little help from Google, I found it. It's part of one of my favorite restaurant groups, Union Joint! They have a coffee shop area with pastries off to the side, but the main dining room is where I was headed. It was lunchtime and I was starving! It wasn't busy at all and I was seated immediately by the host. The lunch menu wasn't huge but has a great selection of options. I with with the otto burger, and it came with fries. I was dying of thirst so I stuck it out with water. But, they're beverages are quite good from what I understand. The food came out and it was super good. Plenty of fries, and I was stuffed when I was one. I also love how the place is decorated as well. Very spacy, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating along with a beautiful patio area. They also have garage doors that open, which are pretty cool! We saw a new menu posted for Lincoln Yard and had to try! Started with the Whipped Feta Dip which was recommended by the server. It was seasoned well and served with a huge piece of naan that was just taken out of the oven. Absolutely delicious! I ordered the Pork Milanese, cooked perfectly and topped with a lemon sauce and crispy capers and shallots which added great flavor. Hubby had the Chicken Pot Pie loaded with chicken and veggies and topped with cheddar biscuits - was given a side of hot honey to drizzle over! Seriously, one of the best pot pies ever! As a local, I would like to give this a positive review and become a frequent customer, especially since the wings are great, but the pricing and business practices are really unreasonable. First issue are the prices. Ordered a can of Tandem Smakintosh cider. Figured it would be about $6. Instead, was charged $11! A four pack RETAILS for $12. In retrospect, I realize there were no prices listed in the drink menu, which makes this price point sting even more because it was obscured and not known until the bill came. Then when the bill came, I was forced to do subtraction to determine the cash price. Many are unlikely to realize this, and will wind up paying more and tipping on the higher price. Which raises the third point - the high prices, and the credit service fees, lead to a total upon which a tip is supposed to be applied. That's great for servers, now that they don't have to pay any tax on this. This restaurant was awesome! We tried several things on their menu and they were all great. We got the feta, pot pie, pork, steak sandwich and the rotisserie chicken. I eat many rotisserie chickens at different restaurants and this is by far one of the best. The service was great! The cookie skillet was even better. I would 100% recommend this place. read more

Our company hosted our holiday party here and it was truly an amazing experience. The event space was perfect for an event like this, absolutely recommend for anyone looking. The food was SO good and I love that they were able to accommodate to food allergies. I have a gluten allergy and their GF options were delicious! The staff were very attentive and all around helpful and kind. The bartenders did a great job making the drinks, I heard a lot of people complimenting their drinks and the desserts were the best way to end the event. Umm... since when are dogs allowed inside of a restaurant? Eww, gross!! I don't care if it was a party or an event or whatever. It is usually a place that prepares and serves food to paying customers. Not even sure this is allowed. To clarify, this was definitely not a service dog. It was a lap dog being passed around like a baby. read more
