Came here on a Saturday night, about 2 hours from close and not super busy! Should be, as the quality of food and the ambiance there is very nice! Comfy booth, with some limited outdoor space. We first tried the bao duo appetizer and it was very flavorful and a good amount of food to split for two. We got Szechuan and Peruvian chicken, and each had a distinct and delicious flavor. I'd love to try more as I think the bao is a great canvas for flavor. Smash Burger was very good. Juicy and a bit fatty but very rich, and the fries were delicious as well. McDonald's shape but very much elevated. Came with a delicious aioli dip, which I could not get enough of. We wanted dessert but after a 20 min wait we were told the chef wasn't happy with how it turned out so decided he couldn't serve us that. No worries and appreciated the honesty. Food came out quickly, and waited was on top with the water. Reasonable prices and small menu make me want to try the other options knowing they're as well thought out as these dishes. Nick is waiting on us. He's warm and friendly. An American restaurant with Asian and some Peruvian flare to the menu items. Most items are shareables. Ordered chili crisp deviled eggs, general tso's cauliflower, feta wonton, imposter burger, mushroom bulgogi, elote Caesar less croutons, full grandma's house salad less cheddar. $116.60 The flowery plastic side plates and other plating aren't what I would have expected here. Interesting. The deviled eggs are yummy with the crisp chili. Not sure it's $14 worth though. I could easily get a 6 deviled eggs halves at holiday and throw some chili oil on top for $6. The feta wonton is yummy. The flat wonton is a nice riff on this app. It's a thin mini flatbread. Super crispy. Hot honey is always yummy. The general tso's cauliflower isn't my favorite. The breading is heavy and parts of it is super crunchy and hard, not just crispy. The imposter burger was so-so. Nothing special. The fries are thin and crispy, they are good. The mushroom bulgogi isn't too bad, maybe better if the shiitake wasn't dried. It tasted rubbery, which is usually a trait of the rehydrated dried mushrooms to me. Decent flavor. Love the ginger seasoning. The sushi rice isn't as good as I expected at all. Mushy. The house salad is okay, nothing fancy or unique there. Needs something notable for the dressing, tasted too plain. The banchans are so-so for an Ameican spot. The cucumber and broccoli aren't doing it for me. Kimchi is kimchesque. Service was good. I love that someone brought this concept to Michigan. It's the kind of place that can help elevate the local dining culture and create a unique experience. The service was excellent, the atmosphere was well executed, and the wine and liquor selection was impressive. That said, the food and cocktail program felt overly complicated at times. The fat-washed whiskey seemed more focused on technique than flavor, and some of the menu choices came across as pretentious rather than innovative. The steak frites were underwhelming. The steak ate tougher than expected and felt more like a lower-grade cut than what I'd expect at this price point. The chicken in the bao bun was overcooked and tough in the center. There were also some operational issues that affected the experience. The music coming from the kitchen competed with the dining room music, creating an unnecessary distraction. The biggest drawback was the value proposition. Leaving with a $200 bill made it difficult to overlook the inconsistencies. I believe this place has real potential, but it would benefit from simplifying some of its offerings, improving consistency in execution, and focusing its creativity on a few standout menu items rather than trying to do too much at once. With those adjustments, it could have a strong future and significant room for growth. read more

The dishes for each table came out at the same time and everything was very hot, fresh, and delicious. This was a mixed bag kind of experience. The good: The food was all consistently tasty. Loved the kimchi smashburger. It does not need the crispy ramen topper, but whatever. The creamy whipped feta was chefs kiss. The not so good: Two attempts with completely flat no carbonation diet coke. There's some spice that comes through from the togarashi, I would say it's a pretty balanced bite. I got the hot chicken bao and the Peruvian chicken bao. Both were very good. Service: we came in on a Monday evening, so it wasn't busy. Everything was quick and our server checked in on us numerous times, we were always taken care of. Hands down the best food I have had in a long time. Utterly delicious. Went once last week and returned this weekend bc I couldn't stop thinking about the food and wanted my husband to try! First time I ordered Peruvian Bao Bun and tomato soup with literally the best grilled cheese I have ever had. Loved the miso base for the soup. Super cute to serve in soup can style bowl. Bun was amazing! Came back second time and ordered same but also the Szechuan spare ribs app. INCREDIBLE. Fall Off bone. I was a huge fan of Vigilante and sad when I heard it closed, so I was super excited to try out Red & The Wolf and was happy to see a similar vibe of the menu made it over, while committed to a fun theme! There's plenty of space inside, we ended up still making reservations, but it wasn't too busy during dinner (we did go on a pretty snowy evening though). There's a small parking lot for the restaurant or just general street parking. The theme and decor of the restaurant was super fun, starting with an awesome mural out front and a fun seating area inside. For our starters, I ordered a bao burger, elotes salad, and the tomato + red pepper soup. I loved the presentation of the soup and it was probably my favorite dish of the night. We ordered the roasted red pepper arrabbiata with chicken as our main, which was good, but nothing special. We ended with the black forest bread pudding, which was amazing, tons of flavor. Also, I just wanted to shout out the amazing service, and the bartender! They were able to customize some really great mocktails just based on our flavor preferences, which was really cool! We went here on a whim on a cold, winter Saturday night and the place was popping. There was a wait for tables, but there were seats available at the bar, so we just parked ourselves there. Yelp has this place classified as a Chinese restaurant, but that is a bit of an overstatement. They definitely have some Asian inspired fare, but the menu covers a lot of different territory. We each ordered the Bao Burger to start. It was a unique mix of flavors and we really liked that. We followed that with the Elotes Caesar Salad which was fantastic. I'm not sure which ingredient gave it that tasty crunch, but it was very good. Then things got interesting... We wanted to try one of the naan flatbreads, but were told that they did not have any naan ready so it might be a little while. We had eaten our first two items so we were OK waiting for a while, but then we waited..and waited...and waited. I'm not sure how long it was before it was announced that the naan was available, but it seems like a solid 45 minutes, if nor more...and then we had to wait for them to actually prep it. The naan flatbreads are approximately a quarter of the menu, so it seemed crazy to not have any available on a Saturday night. We were extremely patient and didn't share our frustration on the bartender, who seemed equally frustrated. So, was it worth the wait? We had the Peruvian Chicken Naan Flatbread and, yes, it was quite tasty! One last comment: as I mentioned, it was a cold, winter night and according to my wife, the ladies restroom was unbearable cold. She was in there doing her thing as quickly as she could when another customer walked in and promptly screamed "OMG, it;s like the F#*@! Arctic Circle in here!"...so that gives you an idea of something else that probably needs to be addressed. read more

On our first visit, Maddy, our server, and Daniel, the manager, were both incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely caring, which immediately set a great tone for the experience. Service felt attentive without being overbearing--always appreciated. I'd heard positive buzz about their plant-based options and finally decided to check it out. The convenience of a dedicated parking lot was a nice bonus, and the location doesn't hurt either--just steps away from my favorite local distillery. They were unfortunately out of the lion's mane steak (the main reason we came), but that just gives us an excuse to return. Instead, we tried the bao buns and chick'n tenders. It appears they use Daring and Beyond products, which we enjoy. The cauliflower appetizer isn't vegan, so we skipped it. Overall, the food was flavorful and satisfying, though portions felt a bit on the smaller side--especially considering we ordered mostly apps. Prices are slightly high in my opinion, but the quality was there. The cocktail menu also caught my attention, especially seeing Weiss spirits featured in several drinks. It's a strong start, and I'm looking forward to watching both the food and cocktail menus continue to evolve. We'll definitely be back to explore more. read more

Delightful newish restaurant. We were having problems finding restaurants open on Monday, so we ended up here. So glad we did. The cocktail menu is small, but creative using spirits from Weiss Distillery next door. The food was the star for me though! quite a number of vegan and vegetarian items that were clearly designed by someone who understands that making plant forward food means more than just subbing impossible burgers in for hamburgers. The Lion's Mane mushroom riblets were visually stunning and delicious. We sat at the bar and the bartender was super helpful in choosing what to order. The decor could be described as cozy gothic. Came to check out Red and the Wolf during a Friday for their brunch. I have to say walking in the decor is very creative with lost of cute touches. The seating is plentiful as the restaurant is quite large. As for the brunch menu it was pretty different with lots of unique dishes such as breakfast bao buns sechwan chicken and waffles and biscuits and gravy flatbread. I wish I was able to try more things but kept it simple with the goat cheese and mushroom omelette. The omelette was good but for the price tag would have been nice if it can with a piece of toast. The service was very attentive although the place was pretty empty. The one thing that I will say was a disappointment was the cocktails. They were very limited. My husband got the bloody Mary wich was simply just plain flavorless tomato juice, I'm pretty sure they forgot to put in the alcohol. I got an aperol spritz that came without champagne and was just aperol and soda water with a very high price tag. I would definitely check this place out again for dinner with friends to try more dishes. read more

New addition to Clawson food scene opened up by the very own Clawson residents husband and wife. We had a party of 10 on Sat the reservations were made ahead of time. I recommend making them they were busy. The ambiance is different from the usual decor red walls, red curtains and a separate room designed like grandma's house. They also had a dj playing some light music. Onto the food we had a few things to try. Smoked wings with buffalo sauce on the side. Szechuan hot chicken bao, Peruvian bao, Naan flatbread. Everything was delicious and full of flavor. They have a decent wine list and and make crafty cocktails, draft beer list is short almost all of it bottled, however if you into good german lager they have one on draft. Service was great and very attentive the only down thing was the wait time for the food, granted it was a big party. Would definitely come back and support local business. read more

Despite our table not being ready on time, manager was very nice and accommodating, and was able to put together another spot that fit everyone. Our waitress was wonderful - friendly, helpful, knowledgeable. Food was very good and everyone absolutely agreed on that. Peruvian chicken dishes were perfect - chicken had great flavor and texture. Our first visit, I was intent on a smash burger, so not a lot of playing around. The smash burger was very good, caramelized onions, sort of bread & butter pickles, double patties. It was very good but the sauce was overwhelming--just too much of it. Next time I'd ask for it to be on the side. Husband had two bao buns & shared my fries, which were thin, crispy & delicious, served with an aoli maybe too similar to the sauce my burger was swimming with. He really enjoyed the bao buns, one was the smash burger bao & the other was Peruvian Chicken bao, and he enjoyed both. Our server was terrific, friendly and prompt but she was hopping--only two servers, & one had to do bar duty. They were pretty stretched in a Saturday afternoon though actually not tons of people, pretty spread out in a good sized room. Hardly any beer on tap, just 3. Mostly bottled beer. Wine also. We didn't sample cocktails. Food was a titch slow. It seems like restaurants in this spot can never figure out if they are going to be 'upscale' or 'everyday' Hopefully they can figure it out. Great atmosphere and decor. Moody with reddish tones. We were seated quickly and had a very friendly and helpful waiter. Has a cute little room in the corner reminiscent of a grandma's living room. A guy plays vinyl records during the evening which I really liked. Prior to him, the piped in music was a bit too loud for the atmosphere of the place. The menu is eclectic. It is more of a drinking menu than a fine dining menu. Lots of small plates, i.e. bao buns, flat breads, burgers with a few dinner type meals. Food was good, prices reasonable. This place is deceiving from the outside it seems that it isn't very large but when you go inside there is plenty of room for everybody. There are tables, they're a booths, and there is a full bar with lots of seating. The young lady who helped us was very helpful unexplaining the menu. This was our first time in and weren't really sure what to eat, and she steered Us in the right direction. I had the Peruvian chicken bao! Delicious. The bartender suggested that possibly I may want to because they are slider size. But I got a side of french fries which was more than enough for lunch. The manager came over and spoke with us and it was very kind I'm very friendly. You always appreciate personal service, especially when it's your first time in. Good job you guys. Wow! As a Clawson resident, I am so excited for this restaurant. Clawson so desperately needs a restaurant with elevated fare, good ambience, and even better food! Four of us dined there this evening, and we all could not say enough good things about the food we ate!! One even said it was the best meal he has had in months! Definitely a new place that's trying to find its footing. I live by here so there's usually about 50% occupancy each night which is nice that you don't need a reservation. A little more on the pricier end. Their bao burger is really good and I believe they do seasonal cocktails. Service for our two times has been okay and food runners still try to locate the tables! Wife, kids and I had a wonderful dinner tonight at Red and the Wolf on 14 Mile in Clawson. Excellent beverages and the ribs and chicken wing appetizers were incredible - very, very good. For entrees we had some of the best smash burgers and fries I've ever had. The Bao buns were interesting and delicious and the Peruvian chicken was outstanding. Desert was a very well made carrot cake. Dan the manager and head chef Aaron came to our table to chat - wonderful dudes. And Aaron is a CIA grad (Culinary Institute of American), a big deal in the food biz. You have got to go and try Red and the Wolf - great food and service, friendly people and a fun time. Had to come back to Red and the Wolf since I just had apps last time. We enjoyed a lovely lunch with the BEST smoked wings, Peruvian chicken flat bread, fries and the tomato pepper soup with mini grilled cheese. Wow! I love the attention to detail of this place! The owner stopped by to visit and we learned the wings took 24 hours to make. Six perfect, juicy wings, rubbed in a spicy yummyness, then smoked low and slow so they were plump, juicy perfection! You have your choice between a buffalo sauce or a Korean sauce - or for a dollar you can have both which I highly recommend. It also comes with a house made ranch dressing that is phenomenal for dipping. The flat bread was made in house and was very tasty with chunks of chicken and chimichurri sauce and onions. Really really good. I didn't think the fried noodles on top added anything personally, but if someone likes that kind of thing you would probably like it even better. The tomato pepper soup came in an adorable soup can with two sticks of grilled cheese with caramelized onions. What a great dish. I am looking forward to coming back to try some of the entrées that intrigued me. I really love this place and I hope you visit because it's the kind of place I want to keep around because they really seem to care about customers and the quality of their food. So I understand this place is juuust opening buuuuut ugh. Still no excuse for terrible operations. One of our party booked a reservation for us via google reservations. I arrived early and we headed to the bar for a drink. Upon seating it seemed like the place was a vibe but quickly went downhill. We were asked several times who made our reservation even though the person had called earlier the same day to ensure we had it locked down, only to be informed they don't do reservations nor carry out and yet they have failed to disable both options online, as if they don't have a say or control in the matter, which they certainly should. Bartenders that didn't know how to make drinks, inadequate supplies- limited booze, no fruit, substitute cherry juice for muttled cherries in an old fashioned, ran out of a lot of their beer.. ill prepared. At least they were engaging to talk with but sometimes you don't necessarily want to see/ hear about their lives, where they live, their former lovers, etc... TMI. I had an old fashioned to kick things off. I was never asked what type of bourbon I wanted, don't even know what they used but was informed that the cherry part would just be some type of cherry concentrate or juice. Not great especially for the price. A glass of wine and an OF with tip- $31... oof. By the time we sat with our party, they did not have a dedicated waitstaff; seemed as if there was maybe one or two people trying to cover all the tables. Was 30 min before we got a sip of water; 45 minutes for a drink... was informed it would be another 40 minutes to get any food and 25 for any appetizer... by this time we had been here for almost 1.5 hours, one drink, one cup of water. Just atrocious. I also witnessed a cook reading instructions whilst making something. Just seemed as if you opened too quickly. Nothing ready, couldn't handle the details. We ended up not even eating cause we didn't want to spend 2+ hours trying to traverse this mess. A really poor performance that has tarnished what seemed like a good food option and maybe a good culinary experience. Not going to drive 40 minutes for this. read more
