Great portions and tons of flavor. Reminds me of my favorite Korean restaurant outside Chicago where I know mom is cooking in the back. We got the bibimbap with bulgogi and kimchi, popcorn chicken box, and regular chicken sandwich with fries. The bibimbap had an absolute perfect egg on it, bulgogi was so flavorful, and the kimchi was spicy/tangy enough to complement the whole dish. I opted for traditional gojujang as the sauce. Lots of veggies in the dish, hefty portion of rice as well. I just wish there was more "meat" considering I ordered bulgogi and kimchi adds so I figured it would last the whole dish (only about half). Popcorn chicken box was delicious. Crispy chicken and great "Korean Sassy" flavored sauce. The sides were also good. Wish they would list what the sides are on the menu. Had to go off some Yelp photos. Chicken sandwich was good. So much to like about this restaurant. Had the wings (Korean sassy and soy garlic) and duk bok ki. Delivered. Wings were still was warm and CRISPY. The crispy part we were pleasantly surprised given it had been in a box and car for some time. We used an air fryer 350 degrees for 7 minutes and they like what I imagine original would taste like. Both sauces were 10/10. Spicy wasn't too spicy but enough to keep you on edge in a good way. Soy garlic was subtle/mild but delicious. It was difficult to finish the medium wings for two people but we managed because it was that good. I don't have the longest history of korean fried chicken and so do not have that high of expectations but this set the bar high for sure. Duk Bok Ki satisfied my craving. Nice spicy/saucy dish with rice cake/cabbage/1 hard boiled egg/fish cake. If you have cheese at home, save it and if dish delivered, microwave your own cheese on here which is what we did and made it even better experience. Service was also good, a caring Korean lady answered the phone and helped us choose the sauces based on spice tolerance. We will be back. read more

There were many items on the menu that sounded good so we tried a sample of several different things. All of the reviews on Yelp were raving about the popcorn chicken so we got that and it definitely lived up to the hype. We tried the mozz dogs, mostly out of curiosity. They were a bit unusual, but decent. We also tried the bulgogi box, fried mandu and steamed pork dumplings. The dumplings and mandu were good...the buulgogi box was...meh. I am going to be day dreaming about these wings for awhile. They were so tasty, crisp, flavorful, and meaty. Adequately sauced by not overbearing. I got the supreme and the soy garlic. Soy garlic is still my all time favorite. Supreme was sweet, with the teeniest bit of heat, barely noticeable. The Kimchi fries were a little disappointing because they were barely warm. As a result the cheese wasn't melted - fantastic idea and concept but execution was short. (Hence the 4 stars.). I might just get a side of fries next time if it's only me because the sassy fries and kimchi fries are definitely big enough to share. I know inflation is crazy but I feel like prices were a tiny bit high for what I was getting. $12 for 6 wings...$23 for 12.... Especially if the ambiance is nothing spectacular and the style is largely fast casual. The lady taking our order was helpful and prompt, wait for our food was not too long. This is a great Korean place to know about. The chicken is delicious as well as the noodles. The wait was so-so and they seemed a little disjointed (maybe they just recently opened at this location). I have only 1 complaint and that is the MUSIC. The K-Pop is blaring at every location that I've visited (several). Since these restaurants are modern and somewhat sparse in decor (looks great), the music echoes off every cement floor and marble or stainless steel topped table. Kimchi Box has several locations all around Michigan. You can order online and pick it up at the store. The location in Troy has a spacious dining area so that you can eat in-store as well. The menu consists of quick, simple Korean food that I imagine is popular among youngsters, such as Korean Fried Chicken, set boxes, rice bowls, various snacks, and Korean-inspired tacos. My friend and I ordered the set box for dinner. She got the Popcorn Chicken Box, and I got the Spicy Pork box. Each box came with rice (I love how they mix in a little bit of purple rice), salad, japchae (Korean stir-fried glass noodles), and a slice of orange. The portion was great for a fulfilling meal. They were also generous with the protein. The salad has a carrot ginger dressing, similar to the ones I usually have in a Japanese restaurant, and it's very fresh and tasty. The japchae is good. Nothing extraordinary, just simple, plain, comforting, familiar taste. The popcorn chicken was VERY good. Saucy but still crispy, and the flavor was spot on. I also enjoyed my spicy pork very much. The inside of what use to be a popular doner kebab place is now an Asian eatery full of open spaces and bamboo paneling. They even added a side 'garage' style door to allow (open air?) dinging during the summer. Over all the place is extremely clean and sterile. Kimchi box's menu has many Korean-American offerings like you would expect from a Chinese-American take out. My order was an online carry-out for 3 pork tacos and a medium order of wings. The food was ready on time and hot. Once home I tried some of both and the wings were on the scary giant mutant side but good. The pork tacos were over seasoned but good. Conclusion: I wasn't impressed with anything and with the price of take-out soaring there isn't any compelling reason to come back to Kimchi Box at all. It lacks the fun and flavors of real Korean Bbq without offering anything in return other than speed, which is the same as any average take-out.
