Which is such a thoughtful touch. The fried chicken was SUPER juicy and tender with a cornflake fried batter covered in chosen sauces. There were so many flavor options to choose from, which made it fun to decide. The pieces were huge, so the price felt completely worth it. The servers were especially kind and patient with us as first-timers. They took the time to explain the most popular flavors and gave great recommendations, which we really appreciated. The only downside were the sides. The onion rings and fries didn't seem to have any seasoning. So, they tasted a bit plain compared to the bold, flavorful chicken. Bb.q chicken landed in MI and thank goodness it did! It is one of the best spots for KFC in the area. The chicken is super crispy on the outside with a juicy tenderness inside, and the sauce that soy garlic (you can have multiple in one order! ) is divine! it is sweet, salty, and has divine umami. If you want some spice - go after the hot spicy that brings a good kick! My favorite thing is that the sauce coats your tongue as you take each bite. We also got the tteokbokki - and those are divine. The cheese over top gave it the perfect pull and the chewy texture was the best juxtaposition to the chicken. I was very pleased with the chicken wings from here. The chicken was actually cooked well but not dry. You can tell they were fresh wings and not frozen. The sizes were great as well. The sauce choices get overwhelming because there's so many to choose and you want them all. You can always order a side of sauce. The staff were pretty nice and patient as well we're making our order. They provided great advice when searching for our meal. The table has these rice cakes snacks that comes with your meals while you wait. The tables also have gloves which was a plus. You don't get your hands dirty while eating. Best thing about bb.q, other than the light, crunchy taste of their chicken, is the fact that THEY DON'T USE ANY SEED OIL to fry their chicken. They use olive oil with a blend of spices resulting in light tasting, non-greasy chicken wings. Even with the sauces, it's still crispy and light. Many sauces to choose from, we tried their popular cheesling flavor and the spicy galbi. Both lived up to their popularity, my favorite being cheesling. Each order of wings comes with their fresh pickled daikon radish which gives that pickled crunch, a perfect compliment to the wings. Even the simple fries we ordered were good because you could actually taste the potato as opposed to other places which fry in reused seed oils, making its fries heavy, greasy with zero taste. The gentlemen who ran the restaurant during our visit, Jeremy and Fred, were very friendly, professional, attentive and answered all our questions about the menu. This is a dine-in and take-out place. Plenty of room for dine-in and very clean. They will take your order once you seat yourself or you can place your order at the front counter. I tried bb.q chicken while in Chicago, but only tried their gangjeong and secret sauce whole chicken, but didn't have time to try the spicy original - which was recommended to me by my nephew. Glad I was in Troy area because I finally got to try it. I called for pick-up order, brought it home and I have to tell you, I feel in love with the spicy original wings and frankly speaking, I so glad they don't have a location here in Ann Arbor! My friend and I stopped by bb.q Chicken for dinner this past Tuesday. He's been to this location multiple times and loves the fried chicken here. I've had other bb.q Chicken in other locations, so I knew what to expect already. I'm glad to see that Troy (and the Metro Detroit area) is finally getting a lot more Asian food options! I love that there are so many different options here. My friend and I decided to try a flavor that we both haven't had before. LARGE WINGS (24 PCS): SPICY GALBI - 38 These are supposedly spicy, but I'd say it's on the sweeter side than it was spicy. The first few wings were so good because the skin was so crispy. The chicken meat was also so juicy. How can skin be that saucy and crispy at the same time? However, once we got to our fourth or fifth wing, the sweetness of the sauce became a lot, and that's why I started picking off the skin just to eat the chicken. Overall, glad we tried it, but I wouldn't recommend it if you don't have a big sweet tooth. The restaurant wasn't too packed but it still took awhile for quality chicken to come out. Tried them for lunch and they exceeded our expectations! The hardest choice was deciding what I liked best. We definitely loved the kimchi fried rice and the Ddeok-Bokki although with the Ddeok next time we'd skip the cheese. The shredded cheese just seem to Americanize a delicious dish without enhancing it. We also got the 8pc wings with secret sauce and loved the crunch and juiciness of the chicken. The sauce was a good combination of garlic and heat and a subtle sweetness. I'd try some of the other sauces next time though. bb.q Chicken is a rather small Korean fried chicken establishment, with nine small tables inside (could be more or less depending on table separation). We walked in a little after 1PM on a weekend and we got the very last table. While we were there, there was a steady line of people getting takeout and a number of parties waiting for tables after us. bb.q does have normal table service, but all menus, plates, utensils, and the all important disposable gloves are already at the table. Other than water, drinks are self serve from the fridge - the waiter will tally them up and charge you after you finish. We were a bit worried about how long we would have to wait for the food since some of the reviews stated that it could take an hour or more to get the chicken out. Luckily for us, it only took a little over 15 minutes to get our chicken: Half & Half Whole Chicken, Half Golden Original, Half Secret Sauce ($29.00) - This comes with 8 pieces of bone-in chicken of each flavor on separate plates. The chicken is cut kind of strangely, with drumsticks and wings intact, and the thighs/breasts cut into smaller sections. The chicken also comes with some pickled daikon to refresh the palette between pieces. The original chicken had a decent crunch and a somewhat saltier seasoning, with all pieces retaining a good amount of moisture inside. We felt like the oil may have been reused a bit too much as some of the more battered areas had the taste of older oil. The secret sauce chicken was covered in a thick sauce that was quite viscous and sweet, with a hint of spice and some tanginess. Be careful with this one: the sauce really gets everywhere and turns things very sticky very fast. Unfortunately, the breading on this wasn't the best - even though we ate the chicken immediately when it got to the table, the breading had already lost its crunchiness. Still, the juiciness of the chicken and the sauce makes up for the breading issues. Overall, bb.q is a good place to visit if you're in the area and have a craving for fried chicken. read more

This place finally opened. We passed it once before, a while back and saw the same chain in Fort Lee or was it Palisade Park in New Jersey. We were looking forward to ordering the boneless wings with the hot spicy and the one with Gangnam style sauce. It was not meant to be. We stepped in and waited, we were about 3rd in line. It was busy, but there were a few empty tables The dining area is fairly small. 7 tables total. A staff member asked if we were getting carry out or dining in. They had a corner seat for us. He warned us it would take an hour for the chicken to come out. Don't come here if you are hungry at all. We were both too hungry to wait an hour for some fried chicken. Had to try it given its popularity for Korean fried chicken and it did not disappoint. Had a hard time choosing the flavor so go 8pc spicy galbi and 8 pc golden original with secret sauce on side. I was concerned based on previous reviews that spicy galbi would be too "sweet" and too "smoky" but it was not any of that but instead just the right amount, and a good kick of spice too. Would strongly recommend if you can take even a little bit of heat. Now originally I ordered secret sauce but I again I was concerned about it being too sweet. This was confirmed when I called and they said it is more like "asian zing" in b-dubs e.g. 70% sweet and 30% spicy. I agree, and glad I got it on the side else the sweetness would be too much. Otherwise I thought the Golden original by itself was well fried, crispy, juicy, tender but nothing spectacular and was on par with other fried chicken chains like Popeyes. In the order of the Flavors I have tried, I would say Honey Garlic is the best, then Soy Garlic, Secret Sauce, Gangnam Style, and finally the Golden Original. The Golden Original is good, but there are other Fried Chicken that taste better in my opinion without the other flavors like Jollibee or Popeyes. This is probably one of my favorite chain Korean fried chicken places. I love that the chicken is juicy and not overly greasy. Each piece is packed with a lot of flavor. We came here as a group of 6. We were seated quickly, and everyone was so nice. We ordered 48 bone-in wings (honey garlic, soy garlic, hot and spicy, spicy original), cheesling fries, mala tteokbokki, kimchi fried rice, and a yuzu Cobb salad. I also waited for the major first wave of crowd to die down, glad I did, because this place seems very popular. We stopped in when we were at the Thai place next door to check out the menu, then returned a few weeks later. The people working here were incredibly kind and seemed to go out of their way to greet and assist all customers. The pictures of the chicken online do not do the actual portion size justice. I was in shock then their brought out our food. We had gone to Wingstop and had incredibly tiny wings, these boneless wings were ginormous. One was the size of two or three at other places. So, of course we did over order a bit, but that's fine. I love leftovers. The chicken was so golden and crispy, it was perfection. We tried the honey garlic, soy garlic, and galbi chicken. I also had a side of their hot sauce. While the kids felt it was hot, I thought it just had a small kick, but was thick like honey and tasted like a sweet and sour red sauce you might get at an American Chinese restaurant. It was very good. We also tried their Kimchi fried rice. It was so tender and delicious. It blew me away, It did not dry out the next day either, it stayed tender. The meat in it was so savory and good, it was perfect. I could see getting it every time. We also tried the cheeseling fries. There were so crispy, I loved the powdered cheese dusting. Apparently today was grand opening. I thought it was weird that they'd close on a Tuesday when I was gonna drive my way up yesterday, but turns out they had a soft opening yesterday. TL;DL, It was worth the 90 minute drive. It was just me and my wife so it was always gonna be a struggle to order the right amount of food. After all, K-chickens are sold usually by a whole or a half chicken. We always want to get a couple different flavors in spirit of Yang-ban Fu-ban (Korean for half sauced, half plain) but that meant we had to get a whole chicken, which is 16 pieces. Plus I also wanted to try mala ddeok-bok-ee (spicy rice cakes) which was gonna add to the portion. (Mala flavor had caught on and became a huge fad in Korea so for a while that's all I was seeing and hearing from Korean TV) The original flavor and the "secret sauce" were exactly as I'd remembered it. Nice and crispy outside and juicy inside. The secret sauce was a blend of sweet and a slight kick, again, meeting all expectations. Mala was the one that had us really excited though. I'm not 100% positive that this version of mala is going to pass as "authentic" Sichuan but it was tasty nonetheless, and I could definitely see the appeal. The spiciness crawls up on you slowly, but it's not so unbearable that you can only eat two pieces. It certainly helped having the original flavor chicken alongside it to cool your mouth down every few bites. Dipping the chicken into the mala sauce was yummy, too. They also have mala as one of the chicken spices, too. The place is clean and organized, but like I said, today was the frand opening so that's to be expected. They have maybe like 10 tables set up. They must have purposely left plenty of room between the seating area and the order counter, but I can see them making room for more tables if they need to. The dude that helped me with my order was super friendly and helpful. Lots of smiles and good knowledge of the menu. I saw him help a few K-chicken first-timers next to my table and never stopped smiling. As long as they keep that up, as well as the quality of the food, I can see myself coming back plenty of times. The biggest test is going to be coming back in a few weeks/months to see whether the food quality stays the same. Fried food joints generally fail in regards to maintaining their frying oil fresh by overusing them.
