The kids were craving this one night while we were out of town, so we placed a carryout order through the app. When I arrived, this location was packed. The inside is pretty small, so with the crowd it felt a bit cramped and busy. They have a screen that displays order statuses, which definitely came in handy, because no one was calling out names. I'm glad I was paying attention, or we might've missed when our order was ready. With how crowded it was, you really had to be mindful moving around, it was tight! The kids ordered chicken sliders (mild) with fries and a drink. It's a bit on the pricier side, but the quality makes up for it, and they really enjoyed their food. Parking is shared with other businesses, so on a busy Saturday night, it was pretty full. The kids enjoyed their meal. read more

So its been a year since I have been back to DHC and now there is competition. This trip was part of our comparison tour. We tried Houston Hot Chicken so naturally we had to go back to Daves for comparison. I ordered the singe slider meal, medium heat and a side of cauliflower bites. I had high hopes for the cauliflower but I think they rely on the seasoning to be the coating as well. The result is an overpowering chili powder based crust with a super mushy inside. It just didnt pair well. I think if maybe they used a true coating and then the seasoning these might have been better. Onto the comparison, the chicken itself was tender and juicy. The kale slaw was good but not a true slaw and a bit dry for placement on a sandwich. The seasoning here vs HHC; has a bitter finish if you dont use the DHC sauce. However, the bun was better with DHC and held up well on the sandwich unlike HHC. The service was top notch, the cashier managed my party of 7- different orders patiently and was very pleasant. I honestly felt like they were grateful for our patronage. Dont see that too often! As with the competitor the pricepoint on these high end fast food joins is just too high. $20 for lunch is pretty high. Oh and of course they have the tipping option on the kiosk. Those need to be banned. There is a good amount of seating both inside and outside at this location and I really felt valued as a customer. read more

Probably not worth the wait. Ordered from kiosk. 25 minutes only to mess up order. Another 10-15 wait. However they were nice about it. Sandwich's was very good. read more

My food was cold, not crispy and just taste like it was drowned in salt. I'm pretty disappointed. The mozzarella cheese still was a cold salty The only great thing about the place was the staff! They have a little person, that works there, I hate that I did not get her name but want to recognize her for her OUTSTANDING service! She is so sweet and professional and helpful and patient!! read more

I stopped in for lunch and had a chicken sandwich (Hot), fries, and a Cinnamon Toast Crunch shake. There were two spice levels higher than what I ordered but I don't think I would want to go higher. Excellent flavor and large piece of chicken. The fries were also very good. I wasn't sure how hot the sandwich would be so I ordered the shake to cool off if I needed it. Flavor on that was excellent and they had a few different flavors available. Huge parking lot with plenty of spots. A bit of a lunch rush when I stopped in but the food was ready quickly. Really friendly staff and the restaurant was clean. I will definitely by stopping back in again for lunch. read more

Service is attentive and kind! We ordered the new item on the menu (mini sliders). You can get 20 sliders for $40. It's a great item for a party. They only had 16 buns and replaced the missing 4 with two regular sized sandwich. There's plenty of seating. Love the consistency of Dave's! read more

I've been to several other Dave's locations all over the country so I'm used to the taste. This location is just as good as the others, and it being halal is much appreciated. The spice levels are accurate compared to other hot chicken places. However, I was disappointed to see my slider and tender combo box missing coleslaw, pickles, and a side of sauce. My "slider" was essentially a tender on a bun. The rest of the order was accurate. It took some time to get our food despite ordering online ahead of time on a slow Friday afternoon. We came back again a few weeks later and our order was accurate and tasted just as great. Love that their combos come with sauce for no extra charge. read more

I love this place! The chicken is the best crispy chicken I've had. I like the fact that you can choose your heat. Love the fries they serve and the pickles are good. The sauce is the best! The service is excellent. Everyone who works there are in a good mood. They like their job. When I ordered they asked if I wanted a cup for water since I did not want to buy a drink which is nice. I had the fountain water and it tasted good instead of the moldy taste you get from the fountain drink dispenser. They say that restaurants neglect washing those dispenser heads and that it can be moldy. They must clean theirs because the water was good. Good job at this store! read more

Hot and fresh with great service. Everything spot on from start to finish. Very clean and super friendly

BEST HOT CHICKEN SANDWICH IN MICHIGAN!!! I went all the way to Tennessee to try the famous hot chicken (among other foods) and Dave's Hot Chicken still gets me every time. For a slider the sandwich is pretty big with generous piece of juicy, flavorful chicken. In terms of spice level, I usually get "medium" and will occasionally get "hot" when I'm feeling adventurous. They also have mild and everything in between all the way up to extra extra hot The hot isn't too bad but the medium is a good amount of heat without getting overwhelmed. I typically go to the Dearborn location (it's also halal there ) but decided to give the Troy location a try. Excellent quality at both locations ! The Dave sauce is a game changer and goes well with fries and on the sandwich. The fries are pretty standard but they serve them lightly seasoned which is amazing. The Troy location has a good amount of seating although it seems a lot smaller than the Dearborn location. The staff was friendly while taking my order and I didn't have to wait long. Can't wait to go back! read more

I ordered carry out from Dave's to try it for the first time. I must say, everything about my experience was outstanding! There was only a 20 minute wait for my food, which is impressive given that I ordered at 6:00 on a Saturday. The food was absolutely . A+. 10/10. Highly recommended. read more

I ordered the #3 combo which comes with a slider, tender, and fries (I subbed Mac and cheese). The medium heat level is perfect for adding just a little spice. This food came out impressively fast, in under 5 minutes during lunch hour which was impressive. I give it 4 stars because the mac and cheese was nothing special--I found it to be pretty bland. I also think the meal should have come with a drink. read more

I got the chicken sandwich with cheese fries and a chicken tender. I got the chicken tender as extra hot and it was very spicy...delicious but very spicy. I got the sandwich in hot and I think that might be my preferred spice level. Everything was so good and I'll definitely order from here again. The online ordering was super easy and my food was ready real quick. read more

I came here for lunch today on a whim and kind of glad I did. I've been wanting to try it out for a while and finally got the chance. Walking in, the menu's pretty simple and standard. they have chicken sandwiches and fingers with a great selection of items to choose from. I went with the one chicken slider, fries and a drink for a total of $12.70 after everything. I think it was the combo #4? Let me tell you, I loved it! They have a lot of different spice levels here and the lady told me that if I get the hottest one, the reaper, I have to sign a waiver! I'm not going to try that, so no worries there. I went with the mild sauce and it came out great. Let me tell you, not everyone does chicken well. These guys do! Also, one slider is quite big, so don't order two unless you are absolutely hungry. When I hear the word "slider" I think tiny...like white castle size. Not this. These are the size of a regular chicken sandwich, so be prepared when ordering. Also, the staff here's really knowledgeable so ask a lot of questions like I did. The only thing I had a problem with was the area where you get utensils and straws. It was a huge mess! Like all over the counter and floor bad. I assume because if it's location that's why (at the end of the counter) but there really should be some kind of garbage can there since it was a disaster. Hopefully they figure it out soon to keep it less messy. Also, the garbage can is hidden for when you're done eating. I was about to just leave my stuff on the table but when I went around the corner I noticed a trash can available for self clean up. Maybe make it a little more visible an in a better area? that would be nice as well. read more

Let's be frank....it's chicken fingers and fries. The menu is only that, and just turned into sandwiches. So don't go in thinking it's a bunch of options or it's made different. No it's chicken fingers and fries. Is it good though? Yep. Now I got the 1 slider and 1 tender not knowing what to expect. The one tender comes on plain white bread, which for some of us who grew up in the hood...Issa nova sandwich lol I got 1 extra hot which was the sandwich. Was it super hot? No. Was it kinda hot? I guess. Not nose running or tongue dripping hot. It has chili powder - that's what makes it hot which u gotta are like DAMN at first...chili powder? I guess the medium wasn't hot at all. The Mac n cheese was okay. No biggie, not dry had a little seasoning you could see. I ordered through door dash and the driver told me the line was long so I can assume it's a popular spot. I will visit inside one day read more

Been wanting to try this franchise since hearing about it on YouTube. We ordered online and came for pick up. Busy busy! Mostly people coming in and out and waiting for their pick up orders. Not a ton of people dining in, but there were a few groups eating outside. The space inside isn't all that large. It's a long narrow hallway with a decent amount of outdoor seating at the back. The order wasn't quite ready on time but I wasn't in a hurry. We ordered combos, which allows you to get tenders, sliders, and fries. You get to choose the spice level for each tender/slider! There are a decent number of spice levels to satisfy different tolerance levels. I chose the combo with one tender and one slider. The slider is basically a tender inside a hamburger bun with slaw. I chose hot for the tender, and medium for the slider. I also subbed regular fries for cheese fries for an up charge. My older sis did the same combo I did but chose medium spice for both her tender and the slider. My other sister got two tenders. She chose hot and Xtra hot. Medium wasn't really spicy for us, and we all love spicy food. Hot was definitely at my level, but wasn't a struggle for me. I'll have to stick with hot and Xtra hot next time. I'm curious about Reaper, since that's the hottest level just above Xtra hot. My sisters both got regular fries which was still pretty well-seasoned! My cheese fries were good but weren't super cheesy. The chicken is halal and is a take on hot chicken but they're from LA. It's seasoned pretty well. Juicy too! The color is a bit more red. If you're expecting Southern fried chicken, this won't fulfill your cravings but it's probably as good as you're gonna get here in the Midwest. Not a bad option though!! I'd totally come back! read more

It's busy inside and narrow too. Gianna took our order, she's nice and efficient too. #143 for our order. Ordered the number #2 Reaper hot, number #2 hot heat, 2 kale slaws, one fries with added cheese and two bottled waters. $43.50. Not sure if they call out your number or over a PA or if we just need to keep a tab on our food. It's not clear. I see people going up to check up on their food orders. Food took about 10-15 minutes to come out or so. We had to go to the counter to come collect it. The slider buns are cold, fridge cold. Could be warmed some. The cheese fries were okay. Cheese wasn't worth it. The chicken tenders on the sliders were pretty crispy. A decent dry rub. The kale slaw and pickle isn't bad. The kale salad sides gave us a bit of veggies with the carbby sliders. Dave's sauce doesn't add much to the sliders for me. I had a bit of gristly bit to one of my tenders. My hot slider wasn't hot at all. The reaper hot rub wasn't spicy for my husband either. Counter experience was good. Food was quite average. read more

I ordered #2 which was two sliders and one side. I ordered medium but probably could have gone up to hot spice. The sliders were pretty big and ended up taking the second home. Their sauce they put on the chicken was very good and the chicken was quite moist. I was surprised with the fries as it was crispy and seasoned well. My husband said though this is no Nashville hot chicken, it's the closest he can get in Michigan and so we will be back soon! I do have to apologize for the lack of a picture. It was so good we ate it too fast. It is on the higher end of fast food, however food is made and cooked to order. Their Dave's sauce and slaw blend make this slider stand out in a class of its own. We had both the medium and hot. The medium was flavorful but a little understated on the heat side. The hot had a great flavor and a kick on the back side. It was a little too much of a gap between the two for me. That small issue did not take away from wanting to come back again. I would add this to your list of places to eat. Restraint was very clean, and the staff were very friendly. Our cashier even made sure we knew her name so if we needed anything we could ask. That should be done more often. Makes you feel important and connected. To the staff, great job. Thank you. read more

I am not sure why this place has such high reviews. It's a modern chic style with the hustle and bustle but no real connection. It feels really business like. Just wish they went around wiping up the tables a bit more often but they were at peak lunch time. When I ordered, they asked if I wanted a cup for water since I had not ordered a drink. That was nice. I didn't have to ask. I got my water from the pop dispenser. The water tasted good. They must clean the nozzles because the water tasted fresh and not moldy. They are doing a great job at this store. I do get crispy chicken from Ima noodle which it like but they keep forgetting to give the pickles and the price went up to $12 for about as much chicken as you get here for $10. Unlike many other reviewers I had not heard the hype. Despite being a USC alum, I never heard of Dave's Hot Chicken in LA, but saw that this location was open during a stop at Carrabba's a few weeks earlier. My mom and I finally gave it a try and after waiting in a 20 minute line to order I can honestly say it wasn't all that. The chicken is definitely fresh and juicy and very fulfilling, but the owner's must think all of America is LA because at these prices you could get a nice sit down meal in the area with a salad, drink etc etc. At the risk of sounding lame, I honestly think CFA is better value and the chicken is almost just as good. I think if you live in the area, you should definitely give it a try as it is good, but I would manage my expectations and not expect to be blown away especially with the price. read more

It was quick and damn good. We got got carry out. The chicken was tender and not all breading.

All they sell is a chicken sandwich, or the chicken without the sandwich. And its really good. The menu is very basic and simple, with very few choices. Basically, you have a choice of 3 combos: 2 tenders with fries, 2 sliders with fries, or 1 tender and 1 slider with fries. Plus a choice of a few other sides. But you can order the chicken with 7 different heat levels, from no spice to reaper. (not sure I am brave enough to try the reaper). These chicken sliders are delicious! Like freakishly good. Not sure what they do to the chicken to make it so tender and tasty. Plus the batter is crunchy and does not flake off. A must try. read more

I originally tried Dave's when they started expanding around the Los Angeles area and was excited to see one open up near me in Michigan. I think they have solid spicy chicken, and the sauce is good too. I usually go with one of their combo meals to get a good mix of sides and chicken. The fries are solid, and I like how they include lots of pickles as a neutralizer. I have picked up to-go from this place a couple of times now, and it definitely fills that craving, and I do not need to fly back to LA. Definitely worth giving this place a try as its been very popular back home. read more

Yes, like so many other people, I heard about the hype of Dave's Hot Chicken online, but I was very curious, it looked amazing. Was it worth the hype? Yes! Absolutely! We were blown away with how amazing this simple chicken tasted. I love the simple menu concept, chicken, fries, mac and cheese. The chicken was so juicy and crispy, we did not start with anything too spicy, I wanted to see how the chicken tasted before I upped the spice. It was so good. Next time I will get a spicier piece. I liked the crispy crinkle cut fries, I got mine with cheese. The Dave's sauce is so good, although it is your typical thousand island, can't get enough. Plus, this chicken does taste great with the honey, so try it all ways. The mac is cheese is so creamy and good. This place was fairly crowded but the line moved fast and it did not take too long to get the food, especially considering you are now competing again dine-in, carry-out, and online orders. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I was not impressed with the price, it is very expensive for a fast food, but the portions are bigger than you think for a single tender. I got the two tender sliders and fries and needed to eat it over two days (I am a big eater, so that shows that each slider can be an entire meal). We also tried a tender on toast, so good. I am actually quite impressed with the story behind this place. David studied under the chef of California's French Laundry (a food bucket establishment can only dream about). Then a group of friends set up a late night food stand that gained popularity online and built a small chicken tender empire. Honestly, with the very first taste I knew I would be craving this place often and want to return soon. While I will have to save up my dollars for another tender, the hype is real and I hope they can open up more locations in the metro-Detroit area. read more
