I typically come here after the gym on Thursdays though I have come other days of the week. I have always walked in without a reservation and just by myself so I have no idea about the wait of having a large party. Parking is plentiful and behind the restaurant. Overall the restaurant is quite quiet and the servers are attentive without being intrusive. I typically order an appetizer and a main. Normally I go with either crispy rolls or an appetizer sampler. Both are awesome and it just depends on how hungry you are. Then I either go with Pad Thai or one of the curries. Every main is so filling and you definitely get leftovers to take home. I normally go with Mild+ because it is both the right amount of spicy the day of and not overly spicy as a leftover. I have either gotten just water or Thai iced tea. Sukhothai is a decent halal Thai spot in the metro Detroit area. I've dined in before but recently we got takeout from here. I love khao soi and was so excited to see it on the menu and decided to go with that. Unfortunately our takeout order was missing my dish so we had to drive back, but the restaurant handled it well. The flavor of the khao soi was amazing, but I do wish it had some veggies or garnish. My friend had a beef entree and enjoyed it but wished it was spicier. This place was awesome, been looking for a good Thai restaurant for awhile and my friend said he loved this spot so I tried it and I'm glad I did. I'm usually pretty picky with curry, but I tried the yellow curry and I wasn't let down it was some Of the best curry I've had. On top of that we ordered the drunken noodles, I like spicy so I had some spicy drunken noodles and that also was so good. Waiter was funny and super friendly people. We got a few dishes here from green curry, curry pad thai, pineapple fried rice, and pad ma kher. We also got an appetizer golden shrimp. Overall the food is really good and flavorful! I was hoping for bigger chunks of pineapple in the fried rice, but still enjoyed it nonetheless. The service is great and quick! The restaurant is nice for groups and families. I have never been a big fan of Thai, changed my mind coming here. The Tom Kha soup is so good. It has become a staple food for me. I love the chicken satay salad. Sukhothai was a great evening out for my birthday! We had great lettuce wraps and crab rangoons, we also enjoyed the Singha beer and the Sukhothai drink. The Pad Thai was amazing, medium was the perfect spice level for me and the vegetables were fresh, with the pad thai sauce was great. My girlfriend enjoyed the Pad See Ew without spice and we agreed it had fantastic flavor. For dessert we had the Honey Bananas and the Roti for dessert. Jitlada was a great waitress and made sure the table was taken care of! Sukhothai had a great atmosphere and was beautifully decorated with traditional Thai decor. Came in for lunch just before noon on a Monday. Mozied on up to the bar and we were greeted right away, asking what we'd like to drink. I ordered a Mai Tai and it was tasty! I can't say what the dining room was like as the bar is right there when you first walk in but there were quite a few carryouts that came in. Looking at the menu, I decided on the chicken Pad Pak. Very impressed by the food and Thai tea here, but this review was going to start off as a 3-star one. Let me break it down: We were down the street at the new Crumbl Cookies grand opening, and a friend had told me that Sukho Thai has her absolute favorite spring rolls. After buying our cookies, we called them, and placed our order on the phone; however, they required a credit/debit card number over the phone, so we had to awkwardly shuffle our cookies around in the car so my boyfriend could grab his debit card. They quoted us about 25-30 minutes, but we figured we would get there early (5-min. drive from Crumbl) and maybe I could run in and use their bathroom. It turns out they are NOT allowing anyone in, due to COVID procedures, and there's a carside person who comes up to your car and asks you for your order # ... which of course, I had already promptly forgotten, but the last four digits of my phone number worked well too. He came back and quoted me 20 minutes, which was fine ... but literally 5-10 minutes later, our food was ready to go. Wow! I was impressed. The food was also very good - probably 4.5/5 from me. We ordered: -The famed spring rolls: These were decent and came with a tasty dipping sauce, but weren't different than others I've had. You can choose 3 or 5 to order. -Drunken Noodles with beef: my boyfriend got this, with medium spice level, and said it was pretty spicy; so be aware. He tolerates spice well usually, too. -Pad Cashew with beef, mild: this was a sweeter sauce than others I've had in the area (specifically, Sy Thai, in Troy/Bham) and I liked it a lot. There really wasn't much spice, though. I also asked for mushrooms instead of water chestnuts and baby corn, and they subbed that out for me. -Thai iced tea. VERY delicious. Definitely on par with Sy Thai's, if not better ... and that's high praise from me. Sukho Thai is about a 15-minute drive from me, so Sy Thai will probably win out due to convenience, but if I'm ever back in the Rochester area I definitely will be trying them again, as everything was delicious. read more

Stopped in for dinner on a weekday and the place was fairly busy. There's a sign up front that says they automatically charge a 18% gratuity on groups of 5 or more. They ended up charging it for our group of 4, which I'm glad we checked before adding a full 20% tip. The food and service were pretty good. They won't take your order but dish name, but only by #. The food is spicier than most other Thai places. I always order medium + most places; but the medium was definitely hot enough. We started with a salmon appetizer, Las Vegas roll and vegetarian spring rolls. The salmon was very fresh and the Las Vegas roll had a little kick and was served warm. Both were fantastic. The spring rolls were hot and crispy, but we're not served with chili sauce, plum sauce or hot mustard. Only a thin clear sauce with some peanuts in it. Wasn't a fan of the sauce at all. For mains we had chicken and steamed Tofu pad ped and a sesame chicken. The pad peds were very tasty but we had to add mushrooms and peppers to since they're only served with bamboo shoots and Chinese eggplant. We weren't big fans of the sesame chicken. The sauce was sweet and didn't taste like sesame. The chicken wasn't very tender either. This fish was a miss for us. We ended the meal with their complimentary sesame coconut fortune cookies, which were so good that we actually bought some up front after the meal. They sell them for $2.99/10 pack and also sell shrimp chips in a gallon sized zip lock bag for $3. Everything fell in place perfect today and I finally made it here! I ordered their lunch potion which was perfect both size wise and price wise. Excellent gang gai, which was even better as it was enhanced with the fresh tasting ample basil. Ordered it mild plus and figured it was about right but thinking I could've handled it medium? Their tom yum soup was better than most as it more chicken in it than many others and it had a good flavor too! When you are seated you are also served wontons which are served with plum sauce. With your bill in lieu of a traditional fortune cookie you are served a thai fortune roll, something I've never seen either. Cute interior and the service was attentive and fast as well. Visiting parents in MI and was craving Thai. Called in order for pickup based on all the good reviews - Pad Thai & two red curries. Woman at front desk was engrossed in a personal conversation - didn't as much as acknowledge my arrival. Waited a minute out of courtesy before asking if I could just get my order since I'd already pre-paid over the phone. She nodded but then went back to her phone call. A few more minutes of waiting and I finally complained that she's ignoring a waiting customer while on a phone call. She said she was speaking with a customer but the fact that she wasn't taking any notes or entering the order into her computer would imply otherwise. All she had to do was ring the bell and the kitchen staff immediately brought over my food. No apology, no nothing - just went back to her conversation. Got home and the red curry was delicious according to my parents. The Pad Thai, on the other hand, had no sauce - imagine eating bland rice noodles with just egg, green onions, and lemon. Fortunately my parents had tamarind and sriracha sauces, which saved the day. Based on my parents' great response to their dish, my guess is the kitchen forgot to add sauce to my dish - otherwise it could've been good. This review is for a catering order I had placed for my wife's birthday. Service was exceptional when I came in and placed my order but what I brought home was not nearly worth the 200+ dollars spent on it. I had ordered a Masamune curry with beef and pad see ew with chicken. Food tasted okay, a bit on the sweet side. My biggest issue was the lack of meat in either one. There was about 5 dollars worth of meat split between both dishes and my guests were dissatisfied with having to eat full plates of just carbs (potatoes/rice/noodles). I had originally ordered here because a friend ordered for a previous event we had some years back. They had received twice as many item selections (full dish of crab rangoons/apple salad/noodle dish/curry dish) and paid the same amount with little lack in protein within the dishes. Can confidently say that they do not offer the same value as pre-COVID era. Have become much more stingy with what they give and charge much more. Likely will not order from here again. read more

Place: This place is really spacious and this is my favorite thai place back home in Rochester. I really enjoy the buffet nights but other times I would come here to take take out for family gatherings. Service: The service here was amazing. They were very consistent and checked in many times to make sure we got everything we ordered. They were very patient with my mom too so that's a plus haha. Food/price: We got three dishes for each person and wow we had a lot left over. I heard that the sushi here was good so I tried it but sadly I was disappointed. We didn't know if that means we had to wait or not because she just rolled her eyes continuously and walked away without giving us an answer. By that point, the whole group didn't feel like dealing with the attitude we were greeted with so we left to go find somewhere else. Very impressive! From the ambiance of the place to the presentation, quality and taste of the food was excellent. The fact that this place does not use oyster sauce or fish sauce was a relief for the vegan minded like myself. I ordered the Tofu with Green Curry which came loaded with an assortment of vegetables and came with a group and we all got a chance to share and sample each other's dishes. I also got to try the Pad See Ew, the glass noodles with tofu, plus the spring rolls. Everything was just right and tasted delicious! At first I thought this place was a little pricey only to find that the portions were fantastic! I loved the fact that they served me two big plates: they served one bowl with the curry and the other plate with hefty portion of rice. That's how much they gave which was awesome! I ordered mild plus for the spicy level because the people in my party who would be sharing the dish with me did not tolerate spice well, (usually I go for medium) but the mild plus was more like medium here. I told her I would prefer to pay inside when I pick up the food. She said that they would only let me pay by card and over the phone. Otherwise I could pay with cash when I pick up the food. They won't let anyone inside at all. None of the made sense to me. Isn't cash dirty or what? I frankly don't feel comfortable paying ahead of receiving my food nor do I feel good about giving my card number over the phone. No in the current society when there's a ton of shady stuff going on in the world today during the pandemic. It generally means they have to write down my credit card number down on a piece of paper to punch it in, since it's not being swiped or tapped. Makes me feel like a potential issue for credit card fraud. Had to take a pass on this place while dine-in is closer and find another Thai spot that would let us pay inside. I would feel more comfortable as a first time visitor if they still had the front door only set up, as so many restaurants have set up to keep customers from entering the restaurant. Many Asian restaurants, like Take Sushi in Rochester or New Asia Star in Clinton Township and many others have been able to adapt and think outside of the box to ensure their customers are comfortable with the payment options. Our family ate here one weekday evening, and we had an outstanding dine-in experience. The service was outstanding, and the food was awesome. We had generous portions, and the leftovers were even better the next day for lunch. Our dine-in experience was great. The dining room was very spacious, all of the tables are spread out and the waitstaff was wearing masks. There is plenty of room for large groups, and there is a nice patio for outdoor dining. Sukhothai has a full bar and soft drinks. The spring rolls are really memorable - they were crispy and delicious. Our group enjoyed the Chicken Pad Thai, Orange Chicken and Tom Yum soup immensely. I agree with the other user comments that medium spicy will be plenty spicy for most people, but even my son's "mild spicy" had great flavor. This unassuming place off Auburn rd has some of the most flavorful food and wonderful waitstaff around. The food is fresh and hot every time. If you want to try something new they are always willing to give advice. The curry chicken is amazing. Tonight had the green curry and it has such a savory taste and heat to the spice.
