We recently dined at Soho in Rochester Hills and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience overall. Our server, Julie, initially seemed helpful when guiding us through the menu and recommending rolls. However, she suggested the Rainbow Roll despite us specifically mentioning that we don't like imitation crab, which it contains. She also recommended the Tokyo Roll, which ended up being nearly identical to the Rainbow Roll -- aside from the spicy tuna on top, they are the same roll. When the sushi arrived, it tasted extremely fishy -- to the point where we couldn't even take another bite. When we let her know that the fish tasted old and fishy, she literally looked at her watch and said, "Yeah, it's the end of the night," and then walked away, which was surprising and off-putting. We arrived an hour and a half before closing, but the staff seemed to be rushing us the entire time. Servers were coming to the table almost every two minutes trying to take our order, which made it hard to relax. We also asked for extra napkins at the beginning of our visit and never received them. I ordered miso soup and it never came out -- after telling her to forget about it, she later brought two cups anyway. It ended up being the worst miso soup I've ever tasted. Honestly, I didn't think miso soup was something you could get this wrong. The spicy edamame was undercooked but actually very tasty -- we loved the chili sauce it was coated in. The seaweed salad was average, but it was plated over a large amount of sliced radishes, which made it look like you were getting more seaweed than you actually were. For $8, especially after being reassured it would be enough for two people, we expected much more. The Seafood Yakisoba noodles were overcooked and the sauce was a bit too salty, though still edible. Overall, we left feeling rushed, disappointed, and still hungry -- but so turned off by the fishy taste that we didn't even want to go anywhere else to eat afterward. This place never disappoints me. I come here exclusively for the sushi, which I would argue is very generous in portion. The sushi comes out very quickly, and whenever I order kimchi or miso soup or other appetizers, they are quick to come out as well. I mainly like to order the rainbow roll, which is extremely generous with its size and the various fish on top cut in a nice, thick slice that gives plenty of flavor to the entire roll. I also order the New York Roll, which has tuna, salmon, and green onion, which at first may seem plain but is actually a really good deal and portion. The Oishi Roll is their cucumber roll and has spicy tuna. Their other rolls are also good, but these three are my go-to. I've never had a tastier Rainbow Roll than here at SOHO. Their kimchi is always very flavorful and possesses a great texture that is very appealing and scrumptious. It is worth it to order a side of kimchi with every visit, no matter the occasion. The staff is very courteous with their guests and is very attentive. There is plentiful seating for a variety of party sizes indoors, as well as even outdoor seating though I myself have never sat outdoors at SOHO. There is a parking lot available right in front with designated take-out parking spots as well. Food comes prepared well both when dining in and when taking out. I have only once or twice ordered their ramen, which comes in a generous, large bowl portion. They have a full Korean cuisine menu, including items such as soondubu, kimchi-jiggae, japchae, bulgogi, and others, though I've been so enthused with their sushi I've never had the chance to order these items myself. read more

Nothing special here unfortunately. Stopped to get something here after a quick grocery trip and ordered some Gyozas. Picture of them online looked really tasty and we've had them before. Two orders of them took over a half hour. Upon receiving them they were incredibly greasy, soggy, and not filled entirely. Was not worth the money. read more

Great service and tasty food!! We went for a friend's birthday and Soho did not disappoint. I was the only to order sushi, and it came out within minutes. I had the Vegas roll. Very good! My friends had the shrimp fried rice and the chicken katsu, They both loved it! We will be back to try some of their drinks. read more

I'm always on the hunt for sushi and Asian food, and there's a few places in the area. I've been here twice now, even though I shop in the area constantly. I find some of their dishes to be on the pricier side of things versus other places in the area. I usually get sushi when I'm here, and I don't venture out to much from that. When I was here today, it was oddly quiet for a Sunday afternoon despite other people eating in the restaurant. It was so quiet that when my phone accidently loaded a video, I think half the place looked up and was like "who/what was that!" Weird. I got the Sunday roll with Miso soup and my entire bill without any drinks was $13.77. Not bad. The father and adult daughter that sat at the table next to me did not speak the entire meal. Not a word. The table one over talked, but barely. Why is this? Anyway, I come here so randomly and the vibes are off even though the place is well decorated. I didn't feel like asking additional questions on the menu because apparently there seemed to be a "no talking rule" here at all, so that's why I didn't venture out and try something new here. Plus, as I stated earlier, prices seem a bit high. Place is located in a busy shopping area, but has good parking, and I have no clue how long they've been here, but it's been quite a few years. read more

Well the sushi list seemed limited so ordered the spicy beef ramen also got Miso Soup and a small ginger salad the ramen showed up holy cow enough for three it was hot spicy wise and temperature wise í are slowly it was great! Maybe I just don't like Korean food or maybe I'm just ordering the wrong items but I wasn't particularly impressed with the Korean items we tried - lettuce wraps (good), japchae (lacking flavor), and 2 kinds of "spicy" soups that weren't spicy at all and also lacking flavor. I'm so happy to have a sushi place close to my mom's place when I visit. I'm not very adventurous, as I live a good California roll. A bonus point to them for adding no cucumber. I am not a cucumber anything fan. I ordered their lunch combo roll special for $9.99. One Cali roll, and one shrimp tempura roll. I wasn't enthralled with the shrimp roll. I wasn't expecting a sauce on it. Maybe next time I will stick with two California rolls. My safety net order. If there is a number that's below zero I would give this restaurant and the customer service provided towards me and my family, and I only eat the same role. The one time that my cousin placed an order for someone else and that person never went and picked up the order she called in for them. They told her we cannot take her order because you "did not pickup the last order" and she explained it was not for me. She had no control over the other person picking this up. I ordered it for someone else, it's not my fault they hung up the phone in her face. Second time we ordered a lady answered. She took my order and we went and picked her up with no problem I called week after to order same thing same guy answered the phone the minute he heard my order he hung up on my face. I start calling he's not answering my Cousin went there and told him "what's going on". He answered her our policy if someone forgot their order were not able to take it again he said we signed the policy. What restaurant signs a policy like that mistakes happen accidents happen you cannot refuse a customer and it was not that much of money literally was $12.92 for one role of sushi. read more

Our soup had hair in it (2 out of 4 bowls) and when we asked for new soup the waitress became super rude and accused us of lying. We are regulars at this place, and I can't believe this really happened. I'm shaking. She then told us she is going to call the police on us. We were shocked, we paid our bill and left our food behind. She then continued into the parking lot behind us yelling something incomprehensible to us. Our waitress dropped off our menu and waters and we haven't seen her for a while to get our orders in. 2 Baked lobster rolls, 2 ginger salads, 1 spicy scallop dolsot bibimbap and 1 extra spicy chicken and scallop dolsot bibimbap. The menu is almost identical to Sake Sushi in Royal Oak; that's great since we already know what we like and the menu too. The miso soup, ginger salads were out first, all were good. The two spicy dolsot bibimbaps arrived sizzling hot in the cast iron pots. Nice billows of steam coming from the pots. The scallops were generous and perfectly cooked. So much yummy scallops, lots of shredded carrots, cabbage, onions and the fried egg. Our dolsot were delicious. The baked lobsters came out several minutes after the dolsots. It looked creamed all over. It had a healthy fancy drizzle of cream sauce. I took the rolls with less, it was a bit too heavy for me. The langostinos were salted and seasoned. Tasted a bit different with the larger amount of cream sauce and seasoned langostinos. I do prefer the baked lobster at Sake. Our service got better after we put in our order, she was more attentive after our orders were in. The spicy scallop dolsot bibimbaps were more generous with the protein and veggies here. read more

Best Kimchi ever! I'm a regular customer here. I've had their kimchi for years and I will always come back. I've had my entire day made because I've had their kimchi and it's really that good. The places atmosphere is great, very aesthetically pleasing, we got the veggie spicy ramen and the seafood spicy ramen , in all honesty the ramen had no flavor mine tasted like it was the water they boiled the broccoli in had no spice at all we had to ask for salt and chili and add tons of soy sauce to even give it flavor. The spicy was spicy seemed as if it was just tossed in siracha. The sushi roll was good could of been more appealing to the eye. We did also get the shrimp dumpling and those were probably the best thing we tried. The service was good no complaints there. read more

My friend suggested trying out Soho as our normal sushi spot is Makimoto in Auburn Hills. I must admit that I am glad she suggested Soho for a change in scene. The restaurant is airy and comfortable - lots of natural wood elements. We were seated right away. Took a couple minutes for our waiter to come by with menus and waters. My only complaint was the service. The server was friendly and apologetic but it all took a while. I also will say that it got very busy on a Tuesday night, so I am sure he was being pulled in lots of directions. Food came out in a good amount of time but getting drink refills, getting the bill, and bill getting cashed out all took a while. Lots of food options sushi lover or not. I was impressed with the menu both food and sushi. The sushi menu is vast and also props for being environmentally friendly - the menus were laminated and not wasting paper with taking sushi orders. I was very impressed with the portion sizes of the sushi. I am used to sushi rolls being a quarter or a bit bigger size. Soho's rolls were at least the size and maybe bigger than a Kennedy half dollar. The rolls were stuffed with a ton of goodness and the taste was excellent. Lots of good flavors! The price per the portion is a great deal and cannot wait to check out Soho again to try different rolls. read more

We just ordered delivery (through door dash). The food was very good and everything we craved. My daughter had the teriyaki beef and tempura shrimp. Both were very good (I stole a bit of each). I ordered the salad w Asian dressing that was flavorful yet only lettuce in box maybe few pieces of carrot. Still good enough. I also ordered the crazy boy roll with added crunchy topping. I've eaten and Soho numerous times with my family, but while I was paying the bill (about 2 weeks ago), the server surprised me by saying she automatically added 18% tip because it's the restaurant's policy to add the 18% for a party of 5 or larger!! That was quite a shock since that's the first time I was told Soho has such a policy and I've been there numerous times with a part of 7. I paid the total, but you'll never see me there again, and I'll make sure that none of my family and friends will do so either. read more

We always love coming to Soho. The food is fresh and the ambience is very zen. Only drawback is the strong smell from the soap store with which Soho shares a wall - the soap odors permeate the entire restaurant and distract from the aromas of the food.
