Inside the Bomb roll (tempura)
Lindsay G.

Delicious sushi! They have a great selection of regular, tempura, and specialty rolls, as well as nigiri and sashimi! The fish quality was extremely fresh and the rice (which I am very picky about) was perfectly cooked right and tasty! I ordered the avocado tempura roll, Olympic roll and the bomb roll (whole-fried tempura) and they were all so good! I couldn't resist something sweet so I also got the fruit roll, OMG. The strawberry and pineapple together was delightful! I need to try them all I ordered through DoorDash but I plan to visit in soon so I will be able to give an update on service and atmosphere!

I was a bit apprehensive about trying Yummy Sushi, honestly, based on the location alone. However, I gave it a chance and very glad I did. I am gathering this place is owned by the same people as Love Sushi in Fraser. The menu is pretty identical. Everthing I had tasted fresh and the rolls were presented well. The provided an ample amount of soy sauce. I would have liked a little more wasabi, but that is just a personal preference. The menu has some very interesting sounding rolls, so I am looking forward to trying more. I love that they offer a little more of quality fish, like the fatty tuna and fatty yellow tail. It really hot the spot! Some places rolls fall apart upon picking up but these were put together well and that was not an issue. This will definitely be added into my rotation of sushi palces to frequent!

Really good, very fresh, very tasty, reasonably priced, friendly staff, efficient service, decor was nice. Free but limited parking. This was my first time but I'd definitely go back, if you've never been it's worth giving them a try.

Staff is friendly. Food is phenomenal, reasonably priced. Not easy to find located in the back of a building off Gratiot.

I was on the Westside earlier today, but I did not have time to stop at 168 Asian Mart. But, I…read moreremembered that I have the next best thing near my house. And, the grocery area is just as jampacked with a variety of goods you can't find a normal grocery store. Jampacked is still the word to describe the grocery area. It looks a bit like a well organized area in somebody's basement. What it lacks in ambience it more than makes up for in content. The only things I could not find here that would be at 168 Asian Mart are fresh goods, like meats and produce. Hankuk has many interesting things in their refrigerated section. Some are prepackaged things that must've come from an Asian goods distributor. Some things, like kimchi, are clearly made in-house. There are no dates on the in-house things, so you are taking a bit of a risk in terms of freshness. I have not had an issue with these items, however, and I know kimchi basically lasts forever. But, take note. Hankuk had dine in options prior to the pandemic, too. You can still get things for takeout. The food here is good, and the prices are fantastic. I will probably order a sushi roll or two later. With such a tiny space, social distancing is impossible. But, I have rarely seen more than 2 other customers at a time. Today, I was the only one. This is a shame, since there is a lot to love about Hankuk.

I see that fellow Yelpers understandably find the decor off putting (on Hoth it's exactly what I'd expect) and it's a small market NOT a grocery store; but the items, selections and quality are spot on. And Hankuk "home" makes everything from Kimchi to soy bean paste! Lastly, go for staples and not the restaurant. Joeun haru bonae!

I ordered a gin Collin's and requested light simple syrup. It was prepared as requested, and I enjoyed it. We started with the spinach and artichoke dip, which was absolutely huge! It was flavorful, and I liked the pita bread versus chips. For dinner I had the pasta in New Orleans, but requested it with garlic butter pesto sauce, instead of the cream pesto sauce. The waitress told me that the modification was no big deal and she would let the kitchen know. Again, that came out as requested, and it was delicious. Even the bread basket with whipped butter was good. To add to all this, there was live music. The music was not overly loud, the guys voice was very smooth, and it added the perfect addition to a nice night out. Only thing I'd say is they need to switch up their signs. We were excited to try the late night happy hour advertised all over outside (9pm-12). However, they said it wasn't offered Fridays. A little misleading.

Arrived. Were told half of our party needed to be present to be seated. (Then what was the $100 deposit and reservation for?) Once we had 10 waiting in the lobby - we still had to wait to be seated. The place was empty, since it was early. Weird. The menu is very limited for anyone gluten free (with the exception of sushi sans soy sauce). There were bones in the fish and chips (strange), the salmon was dry. It was loud. We were celebrating a birthday. Which we informed at time of the reservation. At the end of the meal they brought out a large plate with the words Happy Birthday in chocolate sauce (written very nicely, I must add) accompanied by two squirts of whipped cream, a spoonful of strawberries in syrup and a birthday candle. It was kind of silly. (But still worked.) The high chair was filthy and loaded with large crumbs. Here's the deal - I'm not really a complainer. I mean it sincerely - I want to like (even love) Fishbones. It's close to home. The bar is kind of cool. The outdoor bar area is casual and friendly feeling but the food is mediocre at the very best. And too pricey to be so mediocre. That said - our servers were great and sweet (once they finally got to us - which took quite some time). The fact that they don't split bills in this day and age of apps is backwards. (One bill per table and a max of two cards per bill seems like some arbitrary rule.) Heavy sigh. Unless I'm invited to a post-funeral luncheon or something there, I won't be back. Edited to add the photo.
