Came here late on a Saturday night- the building was empty during a snowstorm. Service was quick, the interior was nice. They were only doing takeout since there heat was not working. The food itself was really flavorful. I wish they gave more sauce with the chicken katsu box. I was hoping for a curry sauce but it was more of a honey mustard sauce which surprised me. My son told me how great the chicken sandwich was, but I had to try the bibimbap. Take a look at the picture: they give you a lot, and it's beautiful. I ordered carryout, so I don't know if the rice is the traditional way, sizzling on the inside of a stone bowl. It's really the thing that makes the dish. And, the carryout contained steamed rice. Steamed rice, and a lot more: cabbage, corn, beans, celery, carrots, rice noodles, and a choose of several different proteins. I got the spicy pork. They also include lettuce for some reason. It is high-quality, but it doesn't belong here. I seriously picked every bit of it out. They had a fried egg on top, and a fair amount of gochujang, although I could have used more. With all that going on, I can overlook for a bit the fact that the rice is not sizzling. This masterpiece was also prepared quickly. They told me it would take about 10 minutes, but it was closer to 6. We walked in and it reminded me a bit of how you'd walk into a chipotle. The dining area is spacious and would be good for a crowd. They had a big menu displaying drinks and their catering menu. A little odd - I think would be more beneficial if they displayed their daily menu instead. They did have smaller menus available by the register and you can check online. Food: Potato Dog - 4/5; there's no meat. Just cheese. I think mozzarella. I didn't realize it. But it was still really yummy. I've been a regular customer here, often ordering the large tray which typically comes with a white styrofoam cup of pickled daikon as a garnish. However, lately, it's been a bit hit or miss. There have been times when I had to ask for daikon, only to be told they were either out for the day or could provide it upon request. Today, I ordered my usual and asked for the daikon. The cashier asked if I was Korean, and when I said no, she informed me that daikon is free for Korean customers, but I would have to pay $1 or $2 because I wasn't. What a find! This unassuming venue packs a flavor punch that will have me seeking it out anytime I'm in the lower peninsula. K-FRIED WINGS with Korean Sassy sauce were easily the star of the meal. Came here for lunch and it was delicious! I've been hearing about this place since they opened and I'm glad we finally tried it. Abundance of seating. You order at the counter and they bring your food out to you. I got the Seoul Chicken Sandwich which is made with chicken thighs and is super saucy. So tasty. My mom got a new menu item that was a KBBQ bowl also with chicken and it had lots of sauce and some veggies, rice and noodles! It was a large portion and she took half to go. They also have Korean corn dogs that have 2 per order so we got the potato dogs and of course they were great. Can't go wrong with a mozzarella filled corn dog! Pricing is really good hear too. Decided to check this place out after seeing chowdowndetroit's TikTok and I'm so glad I did! Sassy Fries (mozzarella, sour cream, and spicy Mayo): so crispy. I would have liked some more toppings but the fries were crispy enough to be enjoyed in their own. Wings (half Soy Garlic half Korean Sassy): LOVED THESE. Amazing crunch, perfect sauce to wing ratio, and the quality of the chicken was good. Half and half is the way to go because you get the sweet/spicy and the savory. Thighs (half Soy half Sassy): still yummy but not as crisp as the wings. Can't wait to try it on their chicken sandwich. All in all, give this place a try! The staff is very friendly, chill environment (+doesn't smell like fried oil despite an open kitchen), and delicious food. This looks like it was the old Pei Wei. Ordered the BBQ chicken taco, Kimchi taco, BBQ chicken bibimbap, a 4 piece boneless chicken in the Korean sassy sauce, kimchi fries and a side of more kimchi. It's hot and new, it's only been open for a little over a week. They are open until 9pm. Dine-in, carry out available too. They were out of drums for a full order and the corn dogs. I wanted to try their corn dog. Next time. There's black beans, romaine, carrots, corn, julienne eggs, bean sprouts, japchae, red and green cabbage, radish, cucumber and onions in with the bibimbap. It's the most variety of ingredients I have ever had in my bibimbap. I say the more the merrier. All of that goodness is on top of some purple rice. Be sure to ask for a side of sesame oil and a spoon to eat it all up, it's quite good. We got to try a couple of their double fried bone-in wings they are so crispy. You can really hear the crunch your first bites into the outside. The Korean sassy sauce is sweet and hot. The kimchi fries are tasty. Has some hot dogs cut up on top of the fries. The fried kimchi is quite nice. The kimchi side is good, it's fresh. The water kimchi cubed is so refreshing, super fresh and crunchy and cuts some of the heat nicely from the Korean sassy sauce or the gochujang sauce from the bibimbap too. They told us to leave our finished items at the table. They would bus it clean after we leave. The service here is fantastic. The staff are all warm, attentive, polite and friendly too. If you haven't had Korean tacos or wings before this would be the place to try them. The wings/drums are huge - juicy, crunchy crust and very tasty. This is now my go-to for wings. You can order them tossed in the Korean Sassy sauce (mildly hot) or the Soy Garlic sauce. This is hands down the best Korean wings I've had. The tacos are equally as good - full of meat but also with the right amount of toppings which are tossed in a very light Asian dressing. It's not just plain lettuce and tomato on top of meat in a tortilla. It's much more than that - taste in every bite. Bibimbap is made with fresh ingredients including the gochujang sauce. What I like about theirs is it's not only fresh, but it also has a good variety of many vegetables along with the meat and is pretty authentic. The restaurant is not visible from the main road (Hall); the front is facing the mall so it can be easy to miss. The inside of the restaurant is spacious and has a lot of seating. It's across from Lakeside Mall! I've been around the area for a bit now and didn't know they had a Korean spot nearby! I knew I had to come checkout this place. I love Korean BBQ. So the ambiance is quiet and uplifting at the same time. I reminds me of Korean BBQ's back in Cali. It's a good spot for friends to come for brunch or with a family of 10 or so. They have a lot of dining tables inside so I would think it would work with a big family. Also have a few booths too. Inside is pleasantly clean, even their drink station where you can grab your water/soda. Food: kimchi tacos, popcorn chicken (Korean sassy sauce) box, kimchi fries, japchae, everything that I ordered was SOO GOOD. I haven't tried kimchi tacos/fries before so I gave that a go. I'm surprised that it works out very well. The tacos has fried tofu in it, which tastes warm and just goes real well with kimchi inside. As for the fries, I enjoyed that a bit more because kimchi can be a bit sour & bitter but with the cheese and fries it made a good combo of flavors that balanced out well with each other. The japchae, you can't get japchae that tastes this good elsewhere in Michigan (that I know of). It's so good that I will definitely drive 30mins-1hr to come eat. It has a bit of a sweet flavor but not overpowering. It is so good with the chopped egg pieces that it comes with. Just wish I had MORE eggs with mines though (next time I'll order it with more eggs). Popcorn chicken was hard to poke with my plastic fork (which makes you think it'll taste hard) it made it difficult to get but as I ate it, it was crunchy on the outside and the chicken was soft to chew. It's almost like orange chicken/sweet and sour chicken that you get at the Chinese restaurant but the popcorn chicken is much more crunchy, is all. Customer service was okay. But my kimchi fries that I ordered, didn't come out until I told them before I left. I did have a big order so I understand if they forgot about it. I'm an understanding person. No big deal for me. This spot is located in the plaza directly in front of Lakeside Mall. I believe Pei Wei used to be in this exact spot. You walk in and there is a menu to the left, walk up to the cashier to place your order/pay and the food is then brought to your table. We ordered a little bit of everything. Started with the Korean hotdogs - which were half dog dog and half cheese, deep fried and covered it sugar. The texture of the breading was really good and the contrast of sweet and salty was a great mixture. We also ordered the Kimchi fries - fries were crunchy and full of flavor. I ordered the Seoul Chicken Sandwich with spicy sauce, the chicken was cooked perfectly and the breading was crispy (not soggy like some other chicken sandwiches). The coleslaw on top of the sandwich added an element of texture and went great with the sandwich. Lastly, we tried the Spicy Pork box and Bulgogi box. Each box came with rice, salad and noodles. Both were good but the Bulgogi was my favorite of the two. Overall, would definitely be back to try other items off the menu. Food was great and service was excellent. But the service was within a minute or two when I got there for my pick up order. They have a wide variety of different types of Korean awesomeness! We had split a few different things when we ordered our takeout from here. So here is what we tried,... Red Bean Dumplings they were sweet and good texture dumplings that were made deliciously!!! We then split the Kimchi fries and let me tell you,... these are definitely the top pick for food here and I give 5 stars And the "Moz Balls" I swear these Balls brought my Korean experience to the moon and back! The bibnbap is all in one bowl you have an option to get a protein. My daughter said the tofu was good but she wish she had selected the chicken. I enjoyed my bulgogi beef a nice balance of sweet n savory. There was a lot of rice at the bottom that I didn't finish. There was a lot of fresh veggies cooked tender that complemented the beef and a tasty siracha sauce to add on top. Also the portions are huge. Like if you get a medium be prepared to Fucking eat and chew baby. So I suggest small, don't screw up like I did. Popcorn chicken sounds small but it's huge. So this is a good place to go with friends and to share. They have outdoor seating open as well. Another heads up, it seems like they are still figuring out the waitstaff/chef thing. I really wanted to like this place more than I did. @chowdowndetroit posted an Instagram video of it last week, and then another friend tried it out, and everything looked delicious. Overall, the food was pretty good, but the 3.5/5 stars for the food gets taken down to a 3 due to some other issues. What we ordered: -Spicy Pork Bento Box (my boyfriend's meal). This had lovely presentation although was a bit pricey ($13, and $14 if you got bulgogi instead). It had white rice with purple (sprinkled?) throughout, the pork, a small salad with ginger dressing similar to what I've had at hibachi restaurants, and a small side of their popcorn chicken. Very tasty. -Bulgogi taco: Tasty except it had a lot of lettuce and not a lot of bulgogi, also it was a little spicy ($3). -Chicken sandwich: Probably the best value there ($6.50), you get two HUGE pieces of chicken. It was tasty except it basically tasted the same as the popcorn chicken in the Bento box. -Corn dog rolled in sugar, with cheese inside: this was the reason I wanted to try Kimchi Box, as it looked delicious. Upon first bite it was reminiscent of elephant ears at Cedar Point. Unique, and tasted good, but not something I need to order again now. The restaurant used to be a Pei Wei, as other reviewers have mentioned, and the layout seems to have been kept the same. It's also a fast-casual restaurant, so you place your order first (including tip) and then sit down with a number, and they bring you your food. Our food was brought in kind of an odd order ... the taco first, then the Bento box a few minutes later, and finally the chicken sandwich. The part that irks me is that our corn dogs were never brought to us; I asked the cashier about it, and people brought us bulgogi tacos, and later a few other tacos, none of which we had ordered (past the initial bulgogi taco). Another employee finally confirmed with me that it was the corn dogs we were waiting on, and about 20-30 minutes after we had placed our order, they were brought out. Not trying to be nitpicky but our table was also kind of sticky, and the two other booths nearby hadn't been cleaned either. Hence why this is a 3-star review and not a 4-star. I'm guessing since they haven't been open that long, they are still working through some growing pains. All that being said, overall the food was pretty good, so if I was on this side of town, I would stop by again. I forgot to mention their lemonade/iced tea: they had some pretty interesting flavors, like lemon and tumeric, which was good. Also, their dumplings looked tasty and if you like kimchi, they also have kimchi fries, and I believe a chicken sandwich topped with kimchi. I'm so sad about this place, I really wanted to love it but sadly i don't think it lives up to the hype... I got the bulgogi box, the bulgogi had good flavor and was cooked well! My rice had parts that were so hard I couldn't eat it, and some parts that were so over cooked it was mush. I figured maybe I got the bottom of the pot of rice. The chicken in the corner was okay but the breading on some of the pieces was raw and doughy. Salad was okay, just lacked flavor. I also ordered fried dumplings which I didn't eat. I bit into one and it was very doughy so I thought maybe that one wasn't done, tried another bite of a different one and same thing. So disappointing. Not to mention they forgot about my order of dumplings so they were cold when I got them. The tables where all dirty even after the employee wiped it down. And the ceiling was literally falling down as I ate. I'm hoping it was a fluke that I had a bad experience but maybe I'll try them when I'm in the area but definitely not making the 45 min drive for this place again. read more

I notice Kimchi Box on Yelp, surprised I didn't noticed it on my cheese steak adventures. Let's preface this review with I love kimchi and Kimchi box did not disappoint. It's a nice location with a pleasant interior from the previous chain Chinese restaurant. I ordered up a Seoul Chicken Sandwich and kimchi fries. The kimchi fries where so crunchy and just mixed so well with the kimchi and cheese toppings. When I opened the take out box in the car they looked so good, I was glad I am single because I wasn't sharing. Tasty tasty tasty, kimchi fries were very good. After I finished up the fries I honestly didn't need the Seoul Chicken Sandwich but after I opened up the box I just couldn't resist. OMG it was 2 chicken breasts which had this crispy coating then drizzled with some type of mildly spicy love sauce.
