Every employee we have encountered has been amazing. One of them even started recognizing us just based on our order when we call. They put the zip sauce on the side, we always get extra because is so good. They always play music and it's an adorable place. The remodel is fantastic. Came here on a busy Saturday night and we were greeted at the hostess stand and were seated right away. The restaurant is nice and clean in the dining room but the noise level is quite high, however, most bar/restaurants are loud when they are busy. Server took our beverage order right away and returned to take the food order. We had the shrimp stir fry special, the tomato dipper, and the meatloaf on a stick. Blue Goose's recent remodel is definitely an upgrade over its former look. What was once a dive bar now has the look of a legitimate cocktail and dining establishment. To start, my wife ordered the Shore-ly You Jest mocktail, which was tasty and refreshing. For our appetizers, we ordered the spinach and artichoke dip and the steak bites. Of those, I preferred the spin dip. Both apps came with a baguette, but chips can be requested for the spin dip. As for our entrees, we got the chicken sandwich, the goose burger, and the bacon-wrapped fillet, which was a special. Of those, the burger was definitely my favorite. It was cooked how I requested it (medium rare), and the fried cream cheese was a unique touch. The chicken sandwich was a bit bland, and the fillet was unfortunately overcooked. We went for happy hour on a Thursday around 2:30 pm. I love that they start their happy hour a little earlier than most (as I am a recent "retiree"). The menu features mostly drink specials. The only food disvlubr are the $1 wing dings. The drinks were strong, service at the bar was friendly, wings were above average (try the Jamaican jerk sauce - fantastic!) My perch sandwich was very good. It's served with fries and a yummy creamy coleslaw for $15. They have 1/2 off wine bottles/Ladies Night on Wednesday nights, wherein you can, for a $5 ticket, enter yourself to win a designer handbag! Thursday night is Trivia Night. I came here on a Thursday night for happy hour and trivia. At 5, I sat at the bar alone and made a few friends while getting some work done. The bartender was very attentive and super nice. We all gushed over how delicious the food was. I enjoyed the rice and beans, though everything seems tasty. The trivia leader does a great job and my team had a lot of fun! The food was great. I ordered the whitefish. It was a generous size portion and it came with perfectly cooked fresh green beans and yummy mashed potatoes. I had a draft of Bells Two Hearted with my meal and another while watching the band perform. Lots of people were dancing and everyone was having a good time. I received a yelp notice the Blue Goose Inn had opened/reopened. I love the remodeling they did, I will miss the old woodwork but the new style I think is much more inviting. Jen was our server and she was fantastic. Onto the food. My husband and I shared the Feta dip appetizer, the crostini loaf was amazing, warm, soft and crunchy with olive oil and Parmesan cheese. The dip was tangy and creamy. I got the Yellowstone burger with a side of Mac. Loved the burger was cooked perfectly, fries were seasoned and hot, the Mac was good and creamy but needed some breadcrumbs for some extra texture My husband got the ribs which came with fries and bean soup. Stopped here, intrigued by the menu and affordable pricing. Greeted promptly and told the wait would be about 20 minutes. About 10 minutes later we were escorted to a booth and promptly greeted by a waitress asking for a drink order. She was quick and understood they we needed a moment. We ordered a gin rhubarb and I ordered an eclectic. The gin rhubarb - name different on menu and identifiable was a bit sweet and refreshing. The eclectic was bourbon and rum and unexpectedly delicious. Our meals posted below were yummy- albeit I'm a a known salt addict and had to add salt to my jumbalaya. The jumbalaya just enough spice without being scary and plenty of chicken, shrimp, and sausage. The dirty rice was probably the same for both dishes and I'm not hating on it- it was good. The goose burger I a mighty tasty late night treat. The takeout I ordered was hot and ready when the joint said it would be. Service was more than acceptable. The ambiance was slow as it was late on a Tuesday evening, but the place appeared clean, had an outside patio, and I will be back to dine in. The only item I wasn't stoked on were the coconut shrimp. They were a bit over coconut-tempura fried for my taste, but still definitely edible, and would probably appeal to most patrons. I'm just picky about my seafood items is all. I first discovered the Blue Goose when I was living in Grosse Pointe, and I was hooked from my very first visit. It quickly became my go-to spot. Why? Because everything about it is on point: the staff, the atmosphere, the food, and the overall vibe--they've nailed it! Shoutout to the fabulous Melissa Turner, the Cutie Patootie behind the bar. She's absolutely amazing--super sweet, always on top of things, and somehow knows what you need before you even have to ask. And the food? OMG. We are a long time Blue Goose patrons. We moved away last year to the tip of the Michigan thumb. We came back to St. Clair Shores for Dr's appointments and thought we would give the remodeled Blue Goose a try. I was prepared for disappointment because we loved the old place. Second time coming to The Blue Goose and it's the second time that I was not thrilled with my food. Last time I was here was it was close to when they opened and they were busy to say the least. I get they were trying to get the wrinkles out, but the problem was my steak came way undercooked (rare) to the point that it was still mooing. This time that I came (2nd visit) I ordered the chicken wings and they were just the opposite of my steak, welllll done, extra dead, dry and chewy. I had to Ask for some dipping sauces to cover the dryness of the wings. You would think I would have received at least a ranch dressing, but I had to ask. The sever was so slowwwwww. The ambience was good since we were able to have a table outside on their new outdoor seating area. A bit noisy with all the Jefferson traffic, but it is what it is. Salad was small with tiny croutons and the dressing was good. The fish looked good but did not taste like mahi-mahi. It's was much denser than it should have been, not flaky and not whiteish. It was moist. I've had mahi-mahi many times and this was more like swordfish or shark chewy but with no flavor. Quite disappointed. And then the band started. I don't like to give out five stars too generously but after coming back to Michigan to help my mother my wife told me the Blue Goose is opening again. So we decided to go there and give it a shot. To my amazement they totally remodeled the entire building inside and out and it is beautiful. There was a short wait so we went out and sat on the patio while we waited for our opportunity to have dinner. There was plenty of help and everybody was pleasant and very helpful. We were seated in less time than we were told which was nice and we got a prime seat and a beautiful window looking out onto Jefferson Avenue. Place was quite packed but our waitress got to us very quickly and got all of our orders we ordered the steak bites as an appetizer they were totally amazing nice chunks of Prime Steak with mushrooms broccoli and sun-dried tomatoes my wife and I killed the entire appetizer. She ordered the mahi-mahi and I ordered the white fish. To my surprise the white fish was cooked absolutely perfect nice little Char around the edges a few Capers on top and seasoned perfectly rarely can you just eat your fish right off the plate with no additives but that's just what I did and it was perfect. Her mahi mahi was more of a tropical Style having pineapple and a Bahama type seasoning it was also cooked perfectly and it was delicious. If the Blue Goose can keep up the good work I think they are going to be the new success story in St Clair Shores. I know when I come to town I'll be back to the Blue Goose Inn. read more
