    Chicken under a brick.
    Evan H.

Spinnaker is an utterly charming restaurant. It's a beautiful, cozy, light-filled house turned restaurant, with lovely decor and the warmest, kindest, staff. It's certainly a Cape Cod experience to try once. My only complaint, and it's a rather serious one, is that the food is terribly mediocre, but priced as if the chef had earned a Michelin star. It's as if my parents, who are well-meaning but have little culinary talent, had decided to open a restaurant on a lark. I ordered lamb chops, which were adorned with nothing more than some dry oregano over a small assortment of vegetable, for something like $60. It was the same for my wife's chicken, which sat in a pool of brown broth and a few potatoes, both pictured below. I can only hope the main chef was out of town, but I just don't see how this comes close to anyone's culinary expectations on the Cape.

Our meal at Spinnaker in Brewster could scarcely have been better. This may have been the best meal we've had on the Cape this year. We started with two glasses of Belcanto Rosé Prosecco and the crispy Brussels sprouts tossed with Greek feta, sesame seeds, and a touch of pomegranate molasses. We ordered a smooth bottle of Barolo and shared the salad of roasted, marinated beets; local Great Hill blue cheese; toasted pecans; pickled shallots; artisanal lettuces; crispy prosciutto bits; and a touch of lemon juice and EVOO. We shared two entrées: the exotic mushroom mélange of porcini, shiitake, and oyster mushrooms with roasted squash tossed with handmade fresh tagliatelle, topped with arugula, soft stracciatella, and a dash of Parmigiano; and the day-boat seafood catch of clams, codfish, and shrimp with homemade spaghetti in garlic, tomatoes, and white wine. For dessert, we shared the salted caramel brioche bread pudding--warm and sweet--with a generous scoop of decadent vanilla gelato. Everything was just about perfect in seasoning, texture, and flavor. The service was friendly, professional, and attentive. We all should be eating here more often, I think. And yes, we know it's for sale.

Highly recommend a reservation this place is super super popular and hard to get into. If you get a table take it. The patio is romantic and intimate. Great for date nights, or catch up night with friends. The food is phenomenal and the service is top notch. (Laine was amazing) The restaurant is in an 1861 building, tons of character. Vibes were great. From the start the hand written bill. Highly recommend the truffle pasta and the short rib with fried tomato, also the octopus app was great. Service and drink offerings were top notch. You won't go wrong

Life changing strawberry sponge cake merengue dessert

Excellent!! We had the pleasure of dining at Spinnaker on a Saturday night. The setting in an updated house that has all the charm and elegance you have been looking for on Cape. We were charmed by the quaintness of the outdoor seating and each room serving guests. Trendy and modern yet cozy and quaint! We ordered drinks and they served crusty bread and oil to start. We had the Caesar salad that was delicious. We loved the flavor and uniqueness of the salad and would definitely order again. Entrees we had the halibut which included mashed yukon and a delicious mix of zucchini, corn, tomato, and the short ribs that also had a delicious accompanying mashed. Dessert was a tough decision but we went with the strawberry cake with meringue. We are glad we did!! I wish I ordered a coffee but that's on me! Service was on point the entire dining experience. Plenty of parking in the back! I would not recommend this place for kids. Definitely a great spot for friend groups, couples and anyone looking for fine dining with a modern vibe. The tables sitting near the windows was a pretty sight from the outside!

Pasta a la Norma (Eggplant) - Delicious, but hard to justify $40 for a vegetarian plate
    Michael R.

After a wonderful meal last year at Spinnaker, we returned this year, and I wanted to update my review. While the food was still exceptional, I am dropping my rating to 4 stars based on value. This is an expensive venue, we knew that going in but this year I felt that the prices were excessive. There were no entrees less than $40, and that included my Pasta a la Norma (Vegetarian). Was it delicious? Yes it was, but it is hard to justify spending $40 for 4 small fried pieces of eggplant served with pasta and sauce. To my thinking the plate was not appropriately priced. You will have to decide if the experience is worth the cost. Food was good as last visit, but prices just not fair any longer.

This was our second visit in the past month and as with our first visit, we were seated fairly quickly and waited over 10 minutes for a server to stop by, bring water, say hello, etc. When she finally did we ordered the lobster Rangoons for an appetizer, my wife ordered the baked stuffed shrimp and I had the seafood fra diavolo which I asked the server to not have any or as little spiciness at all in it. She verified that I wanted "just a little" spice and not "extra spice" and I assured her I wanted just a little or no spice. So the lobster Rangoons came out within five minutes - I thought they were pretty good but I did not care for the Korean BBQ sauce that was on the plate (it tasted burnt to me). My wife did not like the Rangoons at all. So then we waited for our meals. And waited. And waited. I would say it took 35-40 minutes for our meals to get to us. The restaurant was busy but not packed - there were a couple empty tables near us and at least one high top near the bar that was unoccupied. My wife did not like her shrimp dish - there were (only) four shrimp with a small amount of mashed potatoes and veggies that looked like they were run over by a truck on Route 6A - just totally flattened. She also said the entire dish was flavorless and bland. My fra diavolo was VERY spicy, which is exactly what I was afraid would happen. The dish seemed like it would be quite good but I find it hard to enjoy food when my mouth is on fire from the spiciness, especially when I specifically requested (twice!) that there be as little spiciness as possible in the dish. So we finished the meal and waited another 15 minutes for our server to come by. She brought us the check - ~$102 for the meal so we paid $120 (with tip) for two meals that neither my wife or I thought were good at all. So between the l-o-n-g waits for the evening along with the two meals that were ordinary at best and way too spicy we did not enjoy our visit to Uncle Pete's at all. Sad because we live in Brewster and would love to make this one of our fave restaurants. I doubt we will return here. Oh, and it is VERY loud here - we could hear conversations from tables around us but it was difficult to hear each other conversing. Uncle Pete's gets a lot of positive reviews and comments on social media about how great their clam chowder is. We both tried it during our previous visit and neither one of us liked it all - very watery with large chunks of hard potatoes and not many clams at all and a very bland flavor.

I enjoyed my iced latte that I got, but I'm not too picky with my coffee. The sandwich had a nice runny egg, thick bacon that was well-seasoned, and toasty, buttery bread. I put the mayo on the side, which I think was a mistake, because it was a little dry (but that's my fault). Overall, yummy meal!

But if you venture into the dark side of hocking your home for a special dinner... The dining experience was EVERYTHING one could hope for in a restaurant of this caliber. Not a "Michellin Star" but certainly an approachable, reasonable, professionally kind and delicious dining experience. They have a dress code, but from my observation, the diners weren't as "fancy" as I thought they would be. Make no mistakes, this restaurant is on the high end of price range. And if you choose to take the plunge, expect to shell out a hefty price tag - WORTH EVERY PENNY. If you aren't swimming in dough, it's the kind of place reserved for something special - starting with the staff - all amazingly approachable, knowledgeable and polished in their appearance. "Emerils" quality staff (almost, because the serving is ALMOST as choreographed as the best Emeril experience). At the helm for us, Miss Vivienne (sp). WOW! Working herself up from room attendant to super server, this gem has been with the establishment for over 30 years. You can't fake this kind of loyalty - which solidifies the experience. BEAUTIFUL wine list. Now the food - ITS A LOT. A LOT for what a "tasting" menu/experience offers, its A LOT of food! 2 course tasting menu for $125, 4 course for $150 and a 7 course for $195. And its NOT etched in stone. It's your experience and the kitchen is open to your needs based on the menu offerings. Easily accommodating gluten sensitivies too. We opted for the 7 course meal. The "tasting" and swapped out the tenderloin and the lemongrass mousse. The bread was a warm and sultry herbed brioche with house made butter. Followed by 2 oysters, a yellow tomato gazpacho with Jonas Crab - luscious, perfectly seasoned with a creamy mouthfeel, so velvety. Carrots 3 ways - puree'd, roasted and slightly steamed adorned 3 HUGE and PERFECTLY executed scallops. By then, I was full! And out comes a true tasting of their lobster carbonara with Bucattini. I could have stopped there. But I ordered the Halibut. DOUBLE the portion I was served at STARS, perfectly seasoned, perfect temp with a squid ink paella style bomba rice with crispy chorizo and PERFECTLY poached squid. A FLAVOR BOMB offered with the butter wine sauce to be served at your discretion. My husband had the duck - it came 2 ways - pan seared and a shredded confit. DOUBLE the portion he was served cold at STARS. A lovely palate cleanser was provided in between the carbonara and the main course. And then dessert... I have rarely said that a dessert outshines the meal. If the meal was spectacular, the dessert was something out of my dreams! I swore Amaury Guichon was in the kitchen! I ordered an apple mousse with apple compote. Out came "an apple". I smashed the "skin" - an impossibly thin layer of white chocolate sprayed with red white chocolate. The mousse intact was ethereal and light and the apple fragrance just took me away. And if that wasn't enough, the delicate small diced firm compote was not overly sweet. SUBLIME. My husban had the Yuzu mousse with sesame icecream and chocolate twigs. A museum sculpture for sure. He is STILL talking about it. Almost $1000 later, we felt we had been to another place in time. And as we were about to say adios, Vivienne walks out with a little gem box with the daintiest cookies and confections. I simply couldn't eat more! A STANDING OVATION for the service, the food, ambiance and view. What a BIRTHDAY!
