Crabcake Benedict with a scoop of avocado!
Charon R.

I hit this spot every trip but thought I'd just add a pic of my most recent dish, crabcakes with a side of avocado. This place has it down to a science, always great!

Red Cottage is our favorite breakfast spot on the cape (and off cape!). Others clearly agree because we even had a 15 min wait in mid February ! Always worth the wait though for perfectly done breakfast ( the bacon and the popovers yummm) and the friendliest service!

This place is popular there's a line in late morning during weekends. The parking lot has limited space so people just park on the side of the road. I got the Dennis combination as it has a little of everything I want to try/eat. The food is good. The corned beef hash tastes very good with the sunny side up egg. The fruit is sweet as well. One can add $2 for speciality pancakes. I got the ordinary one. This place is cash only. They also have an ATM near the restroom. One recommendation is that the server should mention cash only in the beginning. Some people may not have cash or debit card when they travel.

Excellent service and the breakfast is always great. Red cottage home fries are the best. Large menu and high quality food.

Seating outside to use while waiting for a table

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left this morning, we enjoyed this establishment. The hostess was super sweet. They had seating outside for us to use while we waited. (Which is huge when you have a 5 year old and 4 month old) Our waitress, Wendy, was a joy to be around and great with kids. The food was spectacular, highly recommend the cinnamon bun French toast if you have a sweet tooth. Service was also very quick despite it being busy. Very cute little diner vibe. Will definitely be returning when we come back to the cape next year!

Arrived around 10/10:30; 15 minute wait to sit at the bar. He loved his avacado toast and home fries, which were like smashed pan fried potatoes. The bacon-yum!!!! French toast, thick, most, delicious. (Note: cash only, ATM available)

Absolutely order the Red Cottage home fries. This diner punches well above its weight class in variety, quality, and service.

EPIC 10 STARS!!!!…read more I've lived here for 35 YEARS, and today was my very first visit to Good Friends Cafe. OMG!!! WHERE HAVE I BEEN?! I am the WORLD'S BIGGEST food critic, and hands down, this was one of the BEST breakfasts I have ever had! There was a line out the door, and now I completely understand why. But it wasn't just the food that blew me away. I sat at the bar and watched the staff work, and I was honestly fascinated. They navigated a packed restaurant flawlessly, engaged with everyone, helped one another, and somehow made the whole place feel relaxed and happy. One staff member told me, "We love working here. We don't have a manager--it just all works." And WOW, does it work!!! I own a business that runs pretty smoothly, so I naturally notice systems, staff interaction, customer service, and how a busy operation flows. This place was IMPECCABLE. Everything worked together like a well-oiled machine, yet it never felt mechanical. It felt warm, genuine, fun, and welcoming. The food: AMAZING. The staff: AMAZING. The atmosphere: AMAZING. The operation: AMAZING. I walked in for breakfast and walked out thinking, I WANT TO WORK HERE! One day I would LOVE to waitress here! Good Friends Cafe, you have a new regular. I may be visiting EVERY DAY! It felt like HOME. 10 STARS!!!! Lauren Johnston Harwich Port, MA & Marco Island, FL

Several friends had recommended Good Friends Cafe for breakfast, particularly because we had a…read moregluten-free friend with us, and we were told their gluten-free selection is quite large. All the road work going on MA 28 was also incentive, as we could get there without traveling on it from where we were staying. We were also told several times to get their grilled breads (if you weren't gluten-free, of course). The complimentary coffee in the waiting area was a nice tough as well. It certainly lived up to the recommendations. We had maybe a 3 minute wait for a table on a busy Friday morning. There were lots of specials on the blackboards on the side wall. Coffee came out quickly; it was piping hot and mellow, with very frequent refills. I did try the bread, an apple-cranberry, grilled/toasted medium with a pat of butter for extra yum. I opted for the hash Benedict with fruit instead of potatoes. I got potatoes by mistake anyway, but they immediately brought over the fruit. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the Hollandaise was flavorful, and the hash was crisp and not greasy at all. Now it's my turn to be a good friend and pass the recommendations forward for others.

A must-try breakfast spot with gluten free options!…read more I opted for the "Putting On The Grits": Local grits topped with flavorful braised short rib, perfectly poached eggs, Gouda, crisped leeks & onions pickled in red wine. Out of this world flavor combination, hearty, fresh and a fantastic, cozy atmosphere to boot! Our waitress was a joy-- it was clear she loved working at Ann & Fran's! Highly recommend to anyone

What can I not say about this place…read more I came here a year ago based off all you fellow yelper's guidance and you're usually 100% correct. I remembered how great of a breakfast I had, that when I went to the Cape again, I made it a point to come back. The counter waitress is unbelievably friendly. She busts her butt and thank god, because it makes everything special. I ordered the Blueberry Ricotta Pancakes with a side of bacon. The medley of sweetness, saltiness and creaminess from the blueberry sauce made with fresh blueberries, ricotta and pancakes all blended nicely. I felt like every bite was heaven. I probably didn't need the bacon, but it was cooked just how I like it... well done! The waitress never let my coffee mug reach the bottom and she was always smiling. I saw some muffins on the wall and almost took home some cornbread jalapeño ones because they looked divine, but somehow I managed to contain myself. The prices were very reasonable. I would definitely like to come back soon!

We had an amazing breakfast! We came on a Saturday morning…read morearound 11 and put our name in and it was a 20 minute wait, although it went fairly fast. They have cute little separate rooms so it looks small but it's actually quite spacious. We sat at the countertop by the cook station and it was great to see how much food they can produce. The staff were very helpful with recommendations and the food was delicious. I tried the seafood hash and it was five star. The egg Benedict was cooked to perfection and we also tried the Irish breakfast with recommendation of brown bread that was so thick but also very scrumptious. Multiple fills of coffee and delightful patron to talk to that were first time and repeat visit customers. The overall experience was something we would want to repeat again on our trip. Plenty of parking in the parking lot and nice entryway for those that might need additional help. There's a ramp to get up the walkway. I highly recommend this restaurant as your choice for great dining place in CC!

The portions here are huge. We tried a few different breakfast dishes, including the Irish breakfast and a potato cake Benedict. Everything was hearty, filling, and came out looking great. I especially liked the potato cakes. Crispy on the outside and a nice change from the usual English muffin you get with eggs Benedict. The Irish breakfast is definitely the move if you want to try a little bit of everything. You get eggs, multiple meats, toast, and plenty of food to keep you full for most of the day. Overall, great food, generous portions, and a fun atmosphere that feels different from your typical breakfast spot. Definitely worth checking out if you're on the Cape.
