I am the WORLD'S BIGGEST food critic, and hands down, this was one of the BEST breakfasts I have ever had! There was a line out the door, and now I completely understand why. But it wasn't just the food that blew me away. I sat at the bar and watched the staff work, and I was honestly fascinated. They navigated a packed restaurant flawlessly, engaged with everyone, helped one another, and somehow made the whole place feel relaxed and happy. One staff member told me, "We love working here. We don't have a manager--it just all works." And WOW, does it work!!! I own a business that runs pretty smoothly, so I naturally notice systems, staff interaction, customer service, and how a busy operation flows. This place was IMPECCABLE. Several friends had recommended Good Friends Cafe for breakfast, particularly because we had a gluten-free friend with us, and we were told their gluten-free selection is quite large. All the road work going on MA 28 was also incentive, as we could get there without traveling on it from where we were staying. We were also told several times to get their grilled breads (if you weren't gluten-free, of course). The complimentary coffee in the waiting area was a nice tough as well. It certainly lived up to the recommendations. We had maybe a 3 minute wait for a table on a busy Friday morning. There were lots of specials on the blackboards on the side wall. Coffee came out quickly; it was piping hot and mellow, with very frequent refills. I did try the bread, an apple-cranberry, grilled/toasted medium with a pat of butter for extra yum. I opted for the hash Benedict with fruit instead of potatoes. I got potatoes by mistake anyway, but they immediately brought over the fruit. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the Hollandaise was flavorful, and the hash was crisp and not greasy at all. This is the kind of place that makes you feel like a regular, even on your first visit. The staff is incredibly sweet and genuinely treats everyone like friends. We were late picking up take out one time and they called concerned that our food would get cold! One of the most charming touches is the wall of coffee mugs reserved for regular customers. My absolute favorite breakfast spot on the Cape! We ate here twice on our trip cause it was so good we just had to return. We got the "Julian's Combo". Highly recommend. I also recommend upgrading your toast to their "homemade grilled bread" option. I got the cinnamon raisin and it was delicious. Just a heads up, this place is popular so be prepared to put your name down and wait a bit. They give out free coffee while you're waiting which I thought was a nice touch. This place was fantastic! We sat at the counter and got to see a positive staff having fun and offering amazing menu advice in a cozy diner. Marie & Tia steered us towards the homemade breads including a pear raspberry slightly grilled bread that was the perfect combination of fruit flavor to fresh bread. I had a half order of cornbread-bacon Benedict. Sooo good. Cornbread so moist and with the bacon and hollandaise was delicious. We also had what my wife deemed "the best corned beef hash and cheese omelette she's had". Perfect ratio and cook that were tasty & top notch. Really love this place, wish we lived closer! The servers here are fabulous! It's a big group of us that go to breakfast and they are wonderful! Sometimes it's two long tables. The breads are to die for! You must try them. The word is that Good Friends café has very good food, which must be true as there is always a wait. After 20 minutes we were seated. We were served coffee right away but after 20 more minutes, we decided to leave because no waitress ever came to our table. Surprisingly, a couple at the table beside us who seated five minutes after us also got up and left. A simple hello from a waitress or I'll be with you shortly would've made all the difference. Staff were very friendly and helpful! The seating area is fairly small - so expect to wait. That being said, they had clean mugs and coffee out for while you wait and a nice outdoor patio. The parking lot is spacious, so no stress there. Food was very good - bacon was crispy, eggs were good, and pancakes were delicious! They offer their own homemade bread and muffins and sell loaves to take home. It sounds like it is best to call ahead to order / pickup loaves! Will definitely go back. Went here with my bachelorette party of 6 for a walk in breakfast on a Saturday morning. Had a 30-40 min wait . Not bad for a decent size party walk in! They have a beautiful deck where you're allowed to have your coffee while you wait for your table inside. The deck made the wait very enjoyable. But this review is truly about the food and our wonderful server, Meg. Immediately, i thought this woman is so sweet and genuine, had the prettiest and kindest smile, offered to take a group picture for us and got all of our orders correct. The food was phenomenal! I stopped in over the weekend to give this place a try. There was not wait around 10am on Saturday, but the place was busy (there was one table left). It's very cutesy inside and the bathrooms were clean. I got the Julian - it was scrambled eggs, bacon, white toast, and home fries. I also ordered a single pancake. I also had Diet Coke and a glass of milk. All of this came to about $30. The eggs were good and the toast was really nice. The bacon was a bit more fatty than I'm used to so it was a eh for me, but the home fries were delicious. They had such a good seasoning and spice to them that I was in heaven. The pancake was also solid. Not amazing, but good. The service was good. I do think it's weird that they just drop checks without asking if you want anything else or asking if you want the check. Hadn't been in years, and we had to wait about 20 minutes in spite of it being the day after Labor Day, but this is a friendly place with huge portions of yummy food. There's coffee set up to enjoy while you wait. The decor has a calming, coastal vibe and the Sea Hag sign was my favorite! Try a grilled bread! We tried the cranberry apple which was delightful! Came in late Sunday morning and the place was pretty packed...usually a good sign! The decor inside is very Cape and pretty. Larger than it looks inside from the outside and the inside is clean and pretty spacious. I imagine tables get closer and more crowded in the summertime. They do have a substantial deck space outside; it looks like they can set that up with tables when it's warmer! Very cute. Right inside, you do have to give the host/ess a name for your party, and they have coffee in cute mugs to drink before you're seated. We did have to wait about 20 minutes but that's to be expected. I have to give a shoutout to our waitress, Marie. Very accommodating, very sweet. She provided suggestions when asked, and offered to swap out a side if it wasn't what I liked when it came out (it was actually very good.) She checked back in the right amount, and stopped by to chat briefly when she could. Food order: two country omelettes, home fries, coffee, apple juice, school combo(?) can't remember the exact name but it was 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, some sort of meat choice so I chose the apple chicken sausage & home fries. We were greeted immediately upon entering and quickly set to a table. Margaret, such a great waitress taking care of us! Gave us great recommendations and she did not disappoint! You may have to wait but it's so worth it. My summer road trip had this as a place to stop and eat so I stopped for breakfast. The place is not really large so it fills up quickly especially with groups of locals familys as they have this place as number 1 on there list. Everyone was very nice and keep thanking us for our patience. They serve free coffee as you wait in one of there cute logoed mugs which you can buy to take home too and the coffee is ...good. I ordered the half order of Egg Benedict which came with home fries. We also had the steak omlette filled with fresh veggies of choice. This a cute cafe on School Street in West Dennis. The waitress was fairly friendly. The star was my breakfast choice. This place is popular, so be prepared to wait. But the tables turn over every 20 min or so. The menu is overall very impressive, and the grilled breads are what they are known for. My husband got the 2x2x2 and enjoyed it. I have a dairy sensitivity and was hoping to still have some apple chicken sausage and grilled bread, but was told that they use a grill with butter all over it, so these were not an option for me. So I had to stick with their vegan and GF waffle, some eggs, and a fruit cup. I so wish that they had another pan or griddle just for allergies, because I was drooling looking at everyone's food. The fruit cup was very small, about the size of a mini Dixie cup. Having said all this, they were very friendly and I can see how the place would be popular. Wow, this place is great! Based on the crowd, it's a local favorite as well. The food is amazing. It was so good, we came back the next day! I had the corned beef hash the first day and my wife had the corn bread eggs Benedict special. They were both amazing, but that grilled bread... whoa! Pay the extra money and get that with your meal. The next day we had omelets and... you guessed it... some more of that awesome grilled bread. Another great meal! The place is very clean and decorated appropriately for a beach restaurant. Super cute! Everyone working there was so friendly. They treat you like a local or someone you've known for a long time. Lots of attention from several different people that worked here to make sure we had everything we needed throughout our dining experience. The food was delicious and made fresh. Fantastic breakfast experience at the Good Friends Cafe! The restaurant was cute and there was indoor & outdoor seating. The service was prompt & our waiter was very friendly. We enjoyed an omelette with roasted red peppers, spinach & goat cheese. It was served hot and the ingredients were fresh and delicious. It was accompanied by delicious home fries that were cooked perfectly. They also enjoyed a slice of the grilled, homemade pear raspberry bread with warm butter and it was outstanding.
