Several friends had recommended Good Friends Cafe for breakfast, particularly because we had a gluten-free friend with us, and we were told their gluten-free selection is quite large. All the road work going on MA 28 was also incentive, as we could get there without traveling on it from where we were staying. We were also told several times to get their grilled breads (if you weren't gluten-free, of course). The complimentary coffee in the waiting area was a nice tough as well. It certainly lived up to the recommendations. We had maybe a 3 minute wait for a table on a busy Friday morning. There were lots of specials on the blackboards on the side wall. Coffee came out quickly; it was piping hot and mellow, with very frequent refills. I did try the bread, an apple-cranberry, grilled/toasted medium with a pat of butter for extra yum. I opted for the hash Benedict with fruit instead of potatoes. I got potatoes by mistake anyway, but they immediately brought over the fruit. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the Hollandaise was flavorful, and the hash was crisp and not greasy at all. I stopped in over the weekend to give this place a try. There was not wait around 10am on Saturday, but the place was busy (there was one table left). It's very cutesy inside and the bathrooms were clean. I got the Julian - it was scrambled eggs, bacon, white toast, and home fries. I also ordered a single pancake. I also had Diet Coke and a glass of milk. All of this came to about $30. The eggs were good and the toast was really nice. The bacon was a bit more fatty than I'm used to so it was a eh for me, but the home fries were delicious. They had such a good seasoning and spice to them that I was in heaven. The pancake was also solid. Not amazing, but good. The service was good. I do think it's weird that they just drop checks without asking if you want anything else or asking if you want the check. Went here with my bachelorette party of 6 for a walk in breakfast on a Saturday morning. Had a 30-40 min wait . Not bad for a decent size party walk in! They have a beautiful deck where you're allowed to have your coffee while you wait for your table inside. The deck made the wait very enjoyable. Immediately, i thought this woman is so sweet and genuine, had the prettiest and kindest smile, offered to take a group picture for us and got all of our orders correct. The food was phenomenal! Staff were very friendly and helpful! The seating area is fairly small - so expect to wait. That being said, they had clean mugs and coffee out for while you wait and a nice outdoor patio. The parking lot is spacious, so no stress there. Food was very good - bacon was crispy, eggs were good, and pancakes were delicious! Came in late Sunday morning and the place was pretty packed...usually a good sign! The decor inside is very Cape and pretty. Larger than it looks inside from the outside and the inside is clean and pretty spacious. I imagine tables get closer and more crowded in the summertime. They do have a substantial deck space outside; it looks like they can set that up with tables when it's warmer! Very cute. Right inside, you do have to give the host/ess a name for your party, and they have coffee in cute mugs to drink before you're seated. We did have to wait about 20 minutes but that's to be expected. I have to give a shoutout to our waitress, Marie. Very accommodating, very sweet. She provided suggestions when asked, and offered to swap out a side if it wasn't what I liked when it came out (it was actually very good.) She checked back in the right amount, and stopped by to chat briefly when she could. Food order: two country omelettes, home fries, coffee, apple juice, school combo(?) can't remember the exact name but it was 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, some sort of meat choice so I chose the apple chicken sausage & home fries. This a cute cafe on School Street in West Dennis. The waitress was fairly friendly. The star was my breakfast choice. I had an egg, apple sausage, spinach and cheese scramble with a thick, toasted slice of their homemade apple cranberry bread. I would never have thought all of those ingredients could taste so good! Wow, this place is great! Based on the crowd, it's a local favorite as well. The food is amazing. It was so good, we came back the next day! I had the corned beef hash the first day and my wife had the corn bread eggs Benedict special. They were both amazing, but that grilled bread... whoa! Pay the extra money and get that with your meal. The next day we had omelets and... you guessed it... some more of that awesome grilled bread. Another great meal! We were visiting Cape Cod for three days and it took a lot of willpower not to go back there for a third day. This place has a great hostess and excellent servers. You may have to wait but it's so worth it. My summer road trip had this as a place to stop and eat so I stopped for breakfast. The place is not really large so it fills up quickly especially with groups of locals familys as they have this place as number 1 on there list. Everyone was very nice and keep thanking us for our patience. They serve free coffee as you wait in one of there cute logoed mugs which you can buy to take home too and the coffee is ...good. I ordered the half order of Egg Benedict which came with home fries. We also had the steak omlette filled with fresh veggies of choice. Upgraded our toast to their famous house made bread in the form of French toast. First, the tables are so close together that the server's rear end was inches from my plate of food when she was serving the table next to me. On the other side, I thought I was having breakfast with that diner since we were inches away from them. Secondly, I ordered the 2x2x2. That's 2 eggs, 2 bacon strips, and 2 pancakes. The pancakes were good. I ordered the eggs over medium. They were never flipped, the bottom was brown and crispy, and the whites on top were still clear. It made for a pretty photo, but not what I ordered and I do like my eggs actually cooked. The bacon was so greasy that my fingers were literally dripping grease onto my plate after eating a piece. Also, there was so much stuff on the table....a huge bowl of creamers, enough to serve 10 people when we weren't even drinking coffee. That would help. Might want to consider removing a few tables so diners can enjoy eating breakfast with the people they came with, instead of strangers. Also, a coat rack in the waiting area would make it a lot less awkward trying to take your coat on and off without punching another diner in the face because of how cramped the space is. I have a dairy sensitivity and was hoping to still have some apple chicken sausage and grilled bread, but was told that they use a grill with butter all over it, so these were not an option for me. So I had to stick with their vegan and GF waffle, some eggs, and a fruit cup. I so wish that they had another pan or griddle just for allergies, because I was drooling looking at everyone's food. The place is very clean and decorated appropriately for a beach restaurant. Super cute! Everyone working there was so friendly. They treat you like a local or someone you've known for a long time. Nothing fancy here, just consistently great breakfasts. I've been eating here for approximately 28 years and really look forward to going here during my annual Cape vacations. I almost always get the red, white, and blue waffle, a side of bacon, and hot tea. If you go during "the season, " you will test your patience. If you go "off season," especially after the breakfast rush, you may fare better. Parking is tight, but not nearly as tricky as my other favorite breakfast spot, which I won't mention by name in this review although I'll say it rhymes with Led Wattage (which was the name of a Zeppelin cover band that never was but that shined brightly anyways).
