Grumpy's definitely lived up to the positive reviews! The food was STELLAR! The eggs were cooked to order, bacon was plentiful and delicious, toast was well buttered, pancakes hit the spot and homefries were flavorful and cooked perfectly! The coffee was strong and delicious. We got a muffin to go and it was also amazing. The whole experience was fantastic. It was a busy place, even at 11a but the service was on point and attentive! Cute little place full of locals and vacationers!

We visited Grumpy's in Cape Cod, and unfortunately, the experience was very bad. The food was delicious, but the service was terrible. My wife ordered a juice, and it arrived without a straw. I asked for waters, but they only brought one glass for me and not one for my wife. Multiple waiters, including Peter, kept trying to attach another table to ours, which would have blocked us from seeing our baby who was already crying in his stroller. We couldn't understand why they kept pressuring us to add the extra table, especially since the line of customers was gone by the time we had begun to eat. All of this happened after that long wait, which made it even more disappointing. After we said no about adding the additional table, Peter was extremely defensive rather than being understanding. Overall, we couldn't enjoy the food at all from the interruptions. I asked for two boxes so we could take the food to go, and instead of bringing two he brought me one. Overall It was a bad experience despite the delicious food. They need to understand that a big part of customer service is focusing on the customer that's there in front of you first. After waiting in line for over a half hour, I would expect the service to be better.

Grumpy's is excellent. Been for breakfast a few times. Lots of stuff to choose from, very good food and fair prices.

The sauce was ersatz, the poached eggs were fully cooked through and hard and the hash dry. Sauce or runny eggs would've solved that issue

A disappointing breakfast at Grumpy's in East Dennis. Poached eggs overcooked, ersatz 'hollandaise' from a mix, and a din such that all conversation with our breakfast companions was drowned out. The noise level was atrocious. The others said they enjoyed their food but no one finished their food. I was aware there'd be a significant wait and didn't want to go there but our companions selected this spot. We used to go quite often in the old days. Now that we live in the Upper Cape I doubt we will go there again.

This is a very casual, breakfast diner-type spot! We were visiting but based on my observation, it seems to be a hang out spot for locals. The staff seem to be friends with a lot of the diners. I got the homemade hash Benedict with hash brown and the portion size was huge!! I had to take half of it home, although I wish they gave more than one hash brown. Their cranberry nut muffin is the best thing since sliced bread.

We came here on Memorial Day for lunch. We walked in and were seated promptly at the counter. The interior is what you'd expect from a fisherman themed diner and is a fun vibe. The clam chowder was excellent and my Reuben with pasta salad hit the spot! The cornbread raspberry muffin was a great finish to the meal. Worth a try if you're in the area!

    Seafood cake Benedict

I had seafood cake Benedict and home fries. The hollandaise sauce was house made and quite good. The seafood cakes tasted almost sweet, which means the seafood was fresh and the cakes were not deep fried. The homefries were great too: crisped on the outside and soft in the middle. The place is cozy, wood but well lit. There was a line waiting to get a table and in spite of that we were seated quickly. The service was polite and food delivered swiftly. The portions were large. Our only problem was too many specials and menu choices. All in all I wish we lived closer- we would be here a lot.

It's a very dingy, a bit dirty, nostalgic place. Coffee was watered down but unlimited! Service is excellent, I didn't expect much, but with those prices at least I expected a cleaner place, the carpet seems to have never been cleaned. But for a tourist place, many people don't care about that, Food was good overall will I come back? No DM for more info!

Cozy and old school vibes here, such a great spot! Service was quick and great and had a great meal here. Got the hearty special, would opt for the home fries instead of hash brown patty next time but everything was good!

She was able to convince them to release the special lists for us which had plenty of items to choose from. There was a good selection of things to choose from. We decided on the clam chowder bread bowl, French onion soup, grilled cheese, and onion rings. We asked that everything be delivered at once which it was. The French onion soup was as flavorful as always. A deep rich beef base with plenty of onions, cheese and croutons. Always a favorite of ours here. The chowder bread bowl was large with the top of the bread bowl toasted which was a nice touch. The bread was very fresh and filled to the top with plenty of clams and potatoes and a very creamy rich broth. Bread bowls are a favorite and this didn't disappoint. The best part is tearing the bowl apart so you get that nice flavor of the chowder coming through. The grilled cheese was your standard grill cheese. Nicely grilled with a little crust on the outside and plenty of cheese inside. A large portion of tater tots came with the sandwich and they were fried nicely except they were a little greasy. And plenty of butter was used on the bread to get it nice and toasty. The onion rings could have been fried a little longer and, like the tater tots, were a tad greasy. But the onions were nice and fresh and still had a good crunch to them. All in all the meal was good, service was great, and seating is always comfortable. We'll be going back in the near future.

We both remarked that, because the fish here always tastes so fresh, we tend to order it every time. The menu offers early evening prix fixe options we regretted missing because the prices are wildly cost effective. We had the roasted panko haddock, prepared with roasted shrimp, citrus beurre blanc, roasted potatoes, and asparagus. It was delicious. The citrus beurre blanc leaned more buttery than citrusy, but it was still very good. The haddock was cooked perfectly. The honey mustard salmon, served with cranberry compote, roasted potatoes, and asparagus, was perfectly cooked and delicious as well. The honey mustard flavor was perhaps too subtle, but only because it was so good--we would have welcomed more of it. The complimentary bread service included several pieces of fresh, hot, crusty bread served with rich herbed butter. The bar atmosphere is friendly and unpretentious, and it was nice to see so many happy customers. We enjoyed champagne, wine, and mocktails. It's great to revisit this nostalgic space and enjoy its consistently good food.
