Great food, a perfect setting, friendly service, fair prices, and an owner who clearly cares about the customers and the experience. The food was excellent and cooked to perfection. Everything came out fresh, hot, and exactly the way it should. You can tell this is not some rushed breakfast place just pushing plates out. They take pride in what they serve, and it shows from the first bite. The staff was awesome. Friendly, attentive, welcoming, and on top of everything without making you feel rushed. The owner was also so nice, which adds a lot to the overall feel of the place. It has that local, comfortable, well run Cape Cod atmosphere that makes you want to come back. The banana bread french toast is to die for but they struggle on some dishes. The service was nice. We ordered 2 eggs Benedict which was $16 each. (For reference a steak breakfast is $18.50) however, you can see in the photo that they OVERCOOKED the dang eggs. We brought it up and one of them was taken off the bill, but the experience for our guests on cape cod was ruined and they are only here for a short time, so errors like this are detrimental. Went there this morning, was told told to sit wherever, we did, and after 20mins, not one person came to our table and asked if we wanted coffee, or at the very least acknowledged us. We've been coming to the Cape for years and have always noticed this restaurant & finally gave it a try. First impression was that it is a well established small breakfast venue. Inside was was dark, a little dingy and in need of updating. The waitstaff, who were not overly friendly seemed distracted throughout the time it took to place our order. To the point where I asked our waitress if I could have a water as she was walking away and she replied over her shoulder annoyed. Mind you it wasn't busy & she didn't even offer us drinks or water besides coffee. Our food came out and my husband remarked to me that the plates are stacked on each other, partly on the food of the plate below it - yuck! The food was mediocre at best. Stuffed french toast was more like just French toast with strawberry yogurt poured on top. The omelette was ok, home fries were nice & crispy. Pancake special was ok & scrambled eggs were fine. $83 for a breakfast of four seems a little pricey for that quality food. We stumbled upon here while on the cape and our first two spots didn't pan out. We were sat outside fairly quickly and drink orders were taken. Service was extremely slow but our server was pleasant. We had to ask for sugar several times before it was actually brought over or more coffee was give . I noticed a special menu on Yelp but the server never told us about it. I had to ask, are there are specials because I saw it on Yelp? She said oh yes, there are as if she was never going to tell us. After driving by for over 20 years, I finally decided to stop in and try The Breakfast Room. I ordered their 3-egg omelette special with ham, peppers, and onions, expecting a hearty and fluffy omelette. Unfortunately, what I received was far from what I had in mind. The omelette was more like a crepe--razor-thin, with the ingredients simply tossed in the middle. It was not the fluffy, satisfying omelette I was expecting. To make matters worse, the amount of egg I received felt like barely one egg, definitely not the three I ordered. I was with a group, so I chose not to make a scene, but I could barely eat more than the minimal filling of ham, peppers, and onions, pushing the thin layer of egg aside. I wish the restaurant had made it clear that their omelette was more of a crepe style, as I would have preferred something much fluffier. While the service was fine, this was honestly one of the worst omelette experiences I've ever had, and unfortunately, I won't be recommending this place. read more

Possibly the best breakfast you will find on the Cape. My wife and I stumbled upon this establishment while looking for another breakfast place while on vacation. I had the Benedict with hash ( Irish Benedict on the menu) and it was fantastic. The eggs were poached to perfection and the hollandaise sauce was light, tasty with a hint of lemon. The hashes homemade goodness. My wife had a Mediterranean omelette that was light and filled with green peppers, feta cheese and mushrooms that she enjoyed. We came on Sunday, July 4th the morning after attending a friends wedding. We were excited because the bride and groom recommended it and are locals. We waited around 15-20 minutes for a table for 4. We then waited probably 30 minutes or more for our food which was probably the worst part of our experience. While the food was good, definitely not bad, I'm not sure it was worth all that waiting. Another group of friends went the day before and said they did not run into this issue so it was probably a staffing issue! I would give it another try! We hadn't been up on the Cape for 15 years, but remembered passing The Breakfast Room so many times, but we hadn't stopped in. So, this time, on our last morning, we came here. It's such a throw-back and you know it hasn't changed in years (or decades) and that's what's so special about it. The artifacts on the walls add to the experience. Hands down the rudest staff we've ever encountered at a restaurant. After confirming with staff that the porch was dog friendly, we were seated with two dogs. They became excited when the server came over, but certainly not in a manner that warranted what came next. Presumably the owner came out, did not address us as patrons, and rather scolded the other employee that others had left earlier in the week due to barking dogs and our dogs would have to stop. The waiter then told us that if the dogs continued to bark, we would need to put them in the car. It was hotter than a 90 degree day. I absolutely cannot impress how embarrassing, degrading, and unbelievable this entire experience was, and needless to say we gathered up our drinks, paid, and immediately left without getting the nice breakfast we sat down expecting.
