Came here on a Tuesday around 11 and they had a rush of people. The man who took our order was very friendly and helpful. He suggested the Buffalo Chicken which was really good. Also ordered the Fried Eggplant Caprese which was good as well. Would definitely recommend as there are options for everyone. read more

Açaí bowls were a massive disappointment. So disappointed and frustrated. I saw someone else get one of these when I was in for sandwiches and had been wanting one for weeks. I finally had a morning off and went to treat myself and my husband. They look nice (and the staff is kind and helpful as always!) but the bowls were completely icy and turned to literal soup within 5 minutes. I'm forcing myself to finish it because it was TWELVE DOLLARS but it is so gross and unappetizing it's hard to eat. I legitimately want to cry I'm so frustrated and disappointed. What a massive letdown and honestly total waste of TWENTY SIX DOLLARS for two bowls of slop. Sorry for the price yelling but I can't believe it! In what world is a liquid icy soup with some fruit chunks mixed in worth $12?! Had been recommended by a friend and I went closer to close, enjoyed the atmosphere, the area and the menu and decor. Plenty of seating inside and out. Everyone working was great. I got a vanilla latte and the milk was floating at the top a little chunky, I returned it and asked for it to be remade they did. The sandwhich was serviced with cape cod chips and it was ok, nothing special. It was just tough to order a sandwhich and a coffee and paid $21 for a take out lunch. I know I'm on cape and inflation but could get triple the size for the same price at Dennis market and it would last me two days if I needed. read more

The BEST beach sandwiches ever. I've never experienced sandwiches that are so layered and yet maintain their composure so well without falling apart. The Roma, Calabrian, Fried Eggplant Caprese were all fantastic sandwiches. The pumpkin muffin and iced coffees were also excellent. The food was fair, the service unfriendly. I asked for turkey and cheddar with L and T and onion with mayo and spicey mustard. Response was "No spicey mustard, the mustard is on the shelf behind you." An attitude of annoyance was very apparent. The sandwich arrived without condiments or onions. There was no water for sale but they had a large container available with only tiny cups. After having lunch I ordered 2 coffees and was told "the coffee had been sitting there all day so I dumped it." It was 2 pm, the cafe closed at 3. I will not return despite previous good experiences. On a positive note, there was a new employee training who was friendly, engaging, and helpful. read more

The second time, the sandwiches were 1 star -- with skimpy fixings in the sandwich. The service: The first time I had to wait an hour for take out. They gave my order to someone else with the same common first name. So it had to be re-made. Today, they explicitly were asked to omit an allergen from my sandwich. But the kitchen did not listen and put it in anyways, making me drive back to get a remade sandwich -- which was not worth the drive. Overall, I will not come back to this place. What a great spot for breakfast or lunch! They have indoor and outdoor dining tables. I had two eggs (chose mine scrambled with cheese) that came with toast (whole grain or sourdough) and seasoned "breakfast fries". Those were delicious, too! Came in here today on quite the rainy October day and was pleasantly surprised with our experience. Right off the bat we were greeted by two staff members who saw my girlfriend and I going over the menu on the wall. It was like the cashier knew us personally. He directed us over to the lunch specials we missed while reviewing which were, chicken pesto panini, tomato veggie soup, or a roast beef sandwich. My gf ordered the chicken pesto panini and I was torn between the Roast Beef and the Calabrian. I ended up going with the Calabrian which is essentially their take on an Italian. He recommended putting peppers on the subs, my Gf is not a spicy fan but I say if my eyes aren't watering it's not a pepper! The sandwiches were both INCREDIBLE! I wish I had taken a pic to share but it was too delicious to document. We also had an iced spice chai and an unsweetened ice tea which were perfect compliments. The new owner was apologetic, and the menu was drastically limited, but we loved what we were able to order (cold sandwiches and baked goods.) Alas another rainy day of vacation on Cape Cod. At least I was able to enjoy an old favorite BLAT (BLT +avo) at Cafe Alfresco, mind you, an old favorite under new ownership. So far so great. The line looked daunting however it moved along very quickly and the friendly staff were accommodating to gluten allergies and dairy allergies, and were incredibly friendly and kind. Fresh, hot, delicious breakfast sandwich. Very nicely prepared egg, bacon and cheddar on a fresh Portuguese roll -- totally hit the spot. The breakfast fries (they're just seasoned French fries) were exceptionally hot, but a tad salty. Service -- though it's a semi-self-serve scenario, where you order and pay, then food is brought to table -- was friendly and plenty fast, though I could imagine some bottlenecks with a busier dine-in area or take-out backlog. It's March, so business was a bit light, but I expect the service here is tested on a summer morning. The room and atmosphere are simple, but really, what do you want in a casual breakfast and lunch spot? The biggest seller, for me, is the owner -- a very nice man named Jimmy working hard to serve up a good meal with a smile. Sure, it's $12 for a sandwich and coffee, but it ain't McDonalds in quality, either. It costs money to prepare a meal, keep the coffee hot, clean the tables, etc., and I appreciate the struggle restaurant owners face. I do understand the negative reviews for places like this, but I believe one should factor in some unratable elements, like the fact that the owner and staff are decent, hard-working people and that neighborhood establishments like this are what the community is about. The feeling of locals serving locals with good and fairly priced products counts for a lot to me, but I get that it might not as much for others. We're going back for sure! read more

Stoped by during school vacation week. They were out of everything. We ordered a Caesar salad and the lady said they were out of romaine lettuce! Then we ordered chicken fingers. Nope! Also out! How are you out of chicken fingers during school vacation week!!! We settled for tuna melt and turkey melt with tomato and hot peppers. There was a 50 cent up charge for the tomato and 1.50 up charge for hot peppers. There is also a $1 credit card charge. The sandwiches supposed to come with chips! We waited 20 mins for 2 melts. Finally, the food came to our table. They put the tomato on the wrong sandwich. I didn't even want to bother them with it. It seemed no one cared. Also, no chips! I asked about the chips and the young lady said they just ran out!! So for $34 you get 2 messed up melts with no chips! They didn't offer fries or anything else for the chips. The place is not what it used to be. Inside was dirty and not inviting. The walls and floors are filthy. You are better off sitting outside which seemed lovely, just too cold for when we were there. read more

We sat at the side of the cafe away from the road and listened to the birds chirp in the trees and the water fountain trickle in the distance. It was lovely. read more

I love this place! A great little sandwich shop to enjoy after the natural history museum that is prefect for dining with children! Our kids split the strawberry smoothie and chicken fingers. I had a cream soda and the tomato & mozzarella sandwich. Both were so so yummy and fresh!! My husband had the buffalo chicken sandwich (I had a bite and the sauce was very yummy). This place is cute and quirky just the way I like my sandwich shops! The service was quick and pleasant! I will no longer patronize this cafe, nor will I recommend it to anyone. The primary reason is that they're ripping customers off with embarrassingly small portions. It's an insult. OWNERSHIP The ownership is good. The man who owns/operates this cafe is very nice. In every customer interaction I have seen, he's been great. PAYMENT They do not accept AMEX. This isn't too big of a deal, but it's annoying for some of us. However, I understand why they might not accept it. FOOD QUALITY The food tastes good. I've had approximately 10 different sandwiches here, and they all tasted satisfactory. LOCATION/ENVIRONMENT The location is good, and the cafe itself is clean and maintained. SERVING SIZE This is the problem, and it's a big one. I have never in my 40 years of life seen a more pathetic serving size, and I've eaten around the world. I thought perhaps it was specific to a certain sandwich, but it's not. I've tried almost a dozen different sandwiches, and every one of them is an absolute joke. Every sandwich that a friend has ordered has been a joke. It's the smallest serving size I've seen in my entire life. I tried to make this place work because the owner and staff are very kind, but I can no longer support it. I now recommend everyone stay away. A small coffee and a panini will cost you around $20, and you'll receive a portion size that could barely satisfy an infant. I hope ownership sees this review and improves their food. read more

We are very frequent flyers at Alfresco. Jimmy (owner) and Chris (chef) are fun and welcoming. Our family loves fish sandwich, fish and chips, felafel, Cuban Sandwich, Green Machine, and all of the breakfast sandwiches. We get lunch here at least once or twice a week. The portions are very generous! In summer we don't go quite as often because it gets crowded - just part of Cape life. read more
