We needed to go early so chose 4:15 reservations. We didn't realize the dinner menu started at 5. We adjusted. We ordered 2 appetizers and they took our order at 5 from the dinner menu. So we could choose entrees. Everything was great for 5 people. We ordered roast chicken, swordfish, halibut, and filets. Everyone loved it. We had calamari and halibut ceviche for starters. The server Monique from Jamaica was lovely and very friendly and helpful. It was extremely loud outside on the Terrace and the people dining there were completely pompous, posing for pictures...I had invited my guest to go out for a fun night after seeing Mean Girls at the Cape Playhouse and it felt like I was back in high school with all of the Regina's and the mean girls. Really disappointing! The food was okay but the selection was totally boring and way too overpriced for what you ate. There are so many other options on the Cape that I wish I brought my friend to. The view is spectacular overlooking the Bay but I don't think it's worth the hassle of all of the obnoxious tourists. I have been a tourist in the past( I purchased a place now) and when I travel I always enjoy eating locally and meeting new friends. If you like to pose and be a snob then by all means go here. read more

Terrible experience. We sat at the table for maybe 20 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us and brought water. I had to flag someone down to come to our table. Drinks took another 30 minutes. Ordered breakfast, sat for an HOUR before we finally just got up and left. As did many tables around us. This is not on the waitstaff, this is a management issue. DO BETTER. Especially for a resort claiming to be luxury. I've had better service at a retirement home. read more

We had high hopes for Ocean Terrace given the beautiful location and ocean views, but unfortunately, the experience was a complete letdown from start to finish. We made a reservation in advance, but when we arrived, the table still wasn't ready. We stood around waiting without any acknowledgment or urgency from the staff, which set the tone for the rest of the night. Once we were finally seated, it took over 30 minutes just to receive water and drinks. No updates, no apologies -- just a frustratingly long wait for basic service. When the food arrived, it was a massive disappointment. Most dishes came out cold and far too salty, almost like they had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while before being brought to the table. It wasn't just one item -- nearly everything we ordered was either poorly prepared or not served at the right temperature. The halibut was RAW in the middle (wish we took a picture before sending it back). We asked to speak to a manager to share our concerns, and while the manager was polite, it felt like a box-checking exercise. They didn't take any meaningful action and, most frustratingly, never communicated with our server about the issues we raised. That made the entire conversation feel brushed off and unimportant -- like they just wanted us to stop complaining and move on. The only redeeming part of the evening was the view -- yes, it's beautiful -- but that's not enough to make up for the disorganized service, cold food, and lack of accountability from management. There are plenty of great spots with a view along the coast -- do yourself a favor and choose literally anywhere else. Ocean Terrace has all the potential, but clearly, it's being run by a team that doesn't care about the guest experience. We won't be back, and I strongly recommend others avoid it as well. read more

There was an initial snafu with our reservation for 9 people. We called the day before to push it back a day and when we came in they had it marked as cancelled. Then they said they had no room for us unless we sat inside and then after 20 mins of complaining they found a big enough table to seat us all outside. Sort of annoying. Luckily, the views of the ocean and amazing food made up for the snafu. We all enjoyed or meals. I had the creamy mushroom gnocchi; this came in a heavy garlic sauce with some veggies. Super delicious! Others in my group had the muscles, charcuterie, watermelon salad, special of the day; lobster, duck, and steak. To drink I had the cucumber cooler drink which was strong and refreshing. Our waitress (forgot her name) was from Jamaica and was super friendly. She gave special chocolate milk drinks to the 2 young kids in our group. I'd come back based on the delicious food and great service we received if in the area again. We went for an early dinner at 5:30 with my girls - ambience was amazing - perfect summer night and they sought out a table with some shade. Calamari was good also. Much like previous reviews I would stick with appetizers only. The main courses were mediocre and over priced especially considering the quality. I had the halibut with dirty rice. It was over cooked, room temp and woefully under seasoned. I had to salt generously at the table ( same with my husband's cod). Reminded me of wedding food that was premade and sitting under a heat lamp. For such a sophisticated upscale establishment I expected more than disappointment. read more

A beautiful setting! We've tried clam chowder in every place we've eaten for the past week on the Cape, and this was one of the best so far. The swordfish sandwich was also really good. Wow, if I could give it no stars, I would. I came here for my bachelorette, we made a reservation a month ago and the table wasn't set up when we got there so we had to watch them pull tables together. The drinks came out a half hour after we ordered them. We then waited another hour before we had to ASK for our appetizers to which the clam chowder and calamari came out cold and salty which if made correctly, shouldn't be. Mind you, all of us except one have worked in the service industry and understand mistakes and things taking longer than expected, but you should ALWAYS be improving after someone complains once and the managers should be right away involved for the rest of the guests meals, immediately checking in all the time. THEN they proceeded to take another half hour for our food and forgot 3 of our 8 meals, stating one of the meals was no longer available after we ordered an hour and a half prior. The halibut was RAW, and the rest of our meals were cold. While barely picking at our meals, we noticed the people behind us asked for menu's 3 different times and NEVER GOT THEM. The manager did not check on us after the appetizers and when we finally complained again after the food, they sent the waitress out by herself instead of them taking care of it which a manager should take responsibility and do. The manager(s) should honestly be embarrassed that they never came by after the first incident and continued to let the waitress, who was only on day two, suffer and deal with all of the mistakes, including the kitchens mistakes. It's actually crazy how incredibly poor and pathetic of an experience this was and I would never recommend anyone going here ever. read more

We had a late lunch with a cocktail here, four of us, on a super windy day. It was still nice to be outside in a lovely setting. You can see the bay in the distance. A wedding was happening at next level up. Crab cakes with pineapple were A plus. Burger on brioche, A. Butternut squash and apple soup, A-. Clam and corn fritters, B-. Cocktails, B. Setting A. Ocean Edge front lawn and beach bar scene also fun to check out. The resort is busy and trying to do well in Covid summer. The burger and lobster roll are great lunch options and come with crispy fries or salad. For dinner we had the burratta salad, swordfish tacos, ramen and filet mignon. All were delicious! Located within a resort with a great ocean view and a cool nighttime ambience, Ocean Terrace was one of the only restaurants to accommodate our party of 8 for a last minute dinner request and even though some of them weren't able to make it, Ocean Terrace was able to let us stay at the same table. As the appetizer, we ordered the mussels which were very plump and tasty. For entrees, my wife ordered the beef tenderloin which was very tender and delicious. My friend and I ordered the seared duck breast (and if you know me, I love duck) and while my friend devoured his quickly and complimented it was fantastic, I decided to savor its tenderness and great flavor. For desserts, since our friend prefers a gluten-free option, our waiter was very accommodating to check with the chefs on the ingredients and we were able to try the deep dish cheesecake and chocolate mousse cake, which were very delightful to end the meal. Can't even begin to describe how disappointed my wife and I were with our experience at the Frost Bar. Maybe business is bad, so they are cutting corners on the staff and ingredients, and given its the off-season --- but either way, this place went way downhill from what it used to be. Our brie appetizer was nothing more than what your mother started buying at the supermarket in 2009 as a "hip" new dish. The dessert, essentially a brownies a la mode, was 100% store bought. My wife's lobster and halibut was hammered beyond belief, she didn't even eat most of it. And both of our dishes were absolutely devoid of seasoning --- even an elderly person would've had to add salt to their dishes. The service was insanely blasé, especially for a holiday weekend at a fine resort, from the maître-d down to the servers. I will say they were heavy handed on the wine pours, but that's about the only redeeming quality I can come up with. And sorry in advance, but if I spend $335 for a meal with my wife, I would expect there to be a LOT more positives. read more

Nice grounds but was a mess from the party the night before. Went early to the Terrace for breakfast and no one was there to seat us. Went to the hotel lobby and even they didn't know where the staff was to seat us. Early morning sun was in our faces. Had to DRAG an umbrella near the table ourselves. No staff help. Other guests had to do the same. No staff help. The waitstaff was nice but really missed the mark on service and attention. We had to get staff for our check, a take home box and payment. I stood waiting for assistance while staff just went about their business. No one offered to help at any time. We paid $100 for breakfast for four people. we can easily say we would never recommend nor return there. read more

A beautiful setting for a dinner on the outdoor terrace at this location. We had a birthday dinner at this restaurant and the waiter was great. We had a variety of dishes including the salmon, tenderloin, seared scallops and crab cakes. They were all assembled nicely with flavors that were well balanced. This is great for casual dining or a special occasion. It does get just a bit chilly on the terrace so remember to bring a light jacket. The place was good enough to provide us with some warm blankets. The waiter brought over a nice cheesecake to finish our celebration, compliments of the restaurant. Great place. read more

We ate indoors for lunch last weekend. The food was fresh and delicious. We had lobster rolls, seafood, I think someone ordered beef. We all thought our meals were wonderful, and the children enjoyed their meals, too. Service was excellent. Lovely interior, friendly, accommodating staff who were eager to please hotel guests. I came here to celebrate my birthday this past weekend. We made a reservation for 7:00PM and we were seated as soon as we got there. Our server was lovely, she told us it was her first night on the job but I think she did great. She was just the right amount of attentive, and we never had to wait too long for water refills. As for the food, I don't think it's worth the price at all. The clam chowder was extremely salty, while the salmon didn't have much seasoning at all in my opinion. I got the beef tenderloin. The portion was decent and it was cooked to the temperature I wanted, but it was a little lacking in flavor. The crab cake and seafood flatbread were tasty, I will admit. But these are only appetizers. That's not enough for me to come back here; the main entrees should be the selling point. Because we made the reservation as a birthday dinner, we got free dessert. It was some sort of mousse I think, I'm not sure. It was good, nothing special. It was a nice touch though. read more

Not sure how this place stays in business. I have worked in the service industry for 16 years and am amazed at how poorly run this beautiful establishment is. My family wanted to watch the sunset from the restaurant's scenic terrace, so I called 2 days in a row trying to make dinner reservations, but no one answered the phone. After several messages and a game of phone tag I finally set up a 7:30 reservation only to be greeted by confused hostesses and a wait for our table. Once sat, a grouchy server from Argentina brought us water and took our drink order. We watched a beautiful sunset, but after 40 minutes of waiting we were still without drinks, water refills or any reassuring words or help from our server. He just seemed miserable and ignored us, so not only did we never order food, but we ended up cancelling our drink order and headed back to our campsite to cook dinner instead. I spoke to one manager and my mom spoke to another, but nothing was done to try to right our experience. Needless to say, don't waste your time here! There are plenty of other wonderful restaurants on the Cape that offer amazing food, ambiance and service, even with all the Covid-19 safety regulations. We were a group of five, and our friends selected the Ocean Terrace because it was centrally located between our two houses, and our friends like the place a lot. However, when making a dinner reservation in the week before our arrival, I was rather surprised that, after calling the main number and being transferred to the restaurant, no one picked up the phone during meal time. I then went online and sent them a message with our request, table for five at 6:30 p.m., and asked someone to respond by e-mail or telephone (both of which were provided). No one did, so I called the day we planned to go and spoke with a helpful Lauren who advised me that she did not have our reservation. She would, however, be able to seat us an hour later. OK, we'll hang at the bar, not a big deal. I make mention of this because, Dear Reader, you should be aware that no one bothers to read the e-mails you send through the resort's website. So, don't rely on it. The view and general ambiance of the Ocean Terrace are wonderful. Sitting outside on the patio overlooking the bay is unmatched on The Cape. Clearly, this is why my friends like it so much. The service needs work. The servers are young and, apparently, inexperienced - not the caliber one would expect of an expensive, fine dining establishment. We did receive our first bottle of wine in a timely manner, but had to request, many times, the beer one of our group ordered. We also had trouble getting everyone's coffee, and had to ask for cream more than once. Ditto the bill. As for the food, it was a mixed bag. My companion's crab cake was among the best he'd ever eaten (he orders them frequently) because it was chock full of the tasty crustacean's sweet meat and not loaded with bread. The lobster special he ordered was also a winner. My tuna tartare appetizer was superb. Perfectly presented and the tuna was very fresh. However, two of us ordered the mussels and they were a bomb. Massive portion of gigantic shellfish that seemed to be steamed in beef broth laden with gobs of ... I don't really know. Tasted like the smell of the agar from a science experiment. Awful. So bad, I didn't eat most of them. Such a shame because they were succulent and, had they been cooked in white wine, garlic and a bit of tarragon, would have been a huge hit. One of the group ordered the pasta carbonara, which was a rather meager portion and not terribly interesting. I realize that, being I have been working in the luxury hospitality industry for many years, my expectations might be a little higher and I may be a little more critical than others. I do not mind spending good money on fine cuisine. But I know what it takes to successfully pull off a satisfactory dining experience for customers, and they are missing the mark. This place needs a serious tweaking to parallel the high-end resort with which it is affiliated and to justify its price point. Had Lauren not been as helpful as she was with the 'lost' reservation, I would have given the Ocean Terrace 2 stars. She does customer service well, and is a keeper. read more

Great place to go for a meal. It's views are unmatched in cape cod. The food it excellent and the drinks delicious. The prices a little steep but I still think it's worth it. Me, My wife, and my 10 month old went there for breakfast and had a lovely meal. Their staff was welcoming and attentive. It was a nice environment for having a baby present too. After staying at the resort In May we decided to return for a short three nights stay. In may we ate several times at the Terrace restaurant and really enjoyed the food and the service. Seafood dishes on the menu were great, well prepared, very fresh and tasty. My husband said the the halibut is the best he tasted anywhere and he had it at many top rated Boston area restaurants and other places in the country and beyond. I had cod loin, mussels and several other offering and non disappointed. Even though all servers and staff we encounter were very pleasant and friendly, I wanted to recognize and to give high marks for service to our restaurant server Nelly from Jamaica. She served us in May and we were very happy to see her at the restaurant this time. We really enjoyed our meal and her attentiveness and general friendliness played an important part. We would love to see her again on our next stay in 2023. Good job Nelly and thank you! We are looking forward to our next stay at Ocean Edge next year and beyond. read more

Delightful dining experience. The wood paneled mansion has a variety of dining options from the pub downstairs to the igloos set up on the terrace outside the bar. It being a chilly spring night we opted for the cozy, Roscommon dining room. With its wood fire and a gleaming wood bar, staffed by a cheerful and professional bartender, it was a perfect setting for an intimate dinner for two. The bar tender, Terri, was in the midst of taste testing some new cocktail she had invented and made us a couple of heart and stomach warming concoctions that don't even have names yet. Dinner was scrumptious. Cannot go wrong with oysters in the half shell on Cape! We had a dozen of those with our superb cocktails, followed by the prosciutto wrapped chichen over risotto and the Salmon Rockerfeller. We've been on the Cape 20 years and never stopped into the Ocean's Edge before. Understand it is a mob scene in the summer, but in the off season it is a hidden gem. read more

Hubby and I were staying at the Ocean Edge Resort for a getaway and we decided to eat on-property for lunch. Location is at the Mansion property and is primarily an outdoor space. Several low tables and a bar were under cover and tons of high top tables were out in the open. If you want to actually see the ocean, then get a high top at the perimeter of the restaurant. Otherwise, like us at a regular table in the shady part - you get to look at the other diners. No ocean view. Food is good, yet expensive. I got a $29 lobster roll with side salad option. Hubby got avocado toast and liked it. Staff is lovely and accommodating. read more
