I am ashamed of myself for not having left a review prior to this. For the past three years, I have been going out of my way to drive to Hopkins, House bakery on the weekends, to pick up their tomato pies. Yes, everything else is delicious, their scones, their butter scones especially, are amazing, I also happen to love their salty oatmeal, chocolate chip cookies, I think that's what they're called, however, say everything they make is delicious. Back to the tomato pies... I think part of the reason I didn't write a review was because I didn't want other people to find out about them. They are the most delicious thing I've ever tasted. First of all I don't even like tomatoes. So, if you don't like tomatoes, don't let the name fool you! It is less tomato and more cheesy, tasty goodness! Also, everybody that I have bought them for, or invited them over for makes me bring them a tomato pie now. I have made addicts lol Oh, it doesn't hurt that the store is full of very cute things! :-) read more

This place is absolutely fantastic! The muffins, cookies, pastries, pies, brownies...such a huge variety, and everything is fresh. Really cheap prices, and good sized portions. We go here once a week for our sweet treats, and there is always a new rotation to choose from. Really cute shop, beautiful flower filled entrance, and always friendly and attentive staff. Really good bakery with a ton of options! We got strawberry cupcakes, Georgia peach muffins, peanut butter cookies, blueberry crisp bars, rum balls, tomato and cheese tarts and more. Prices were reasonable! We saw a variety of cookies, brownies in the fridge, quiches, etc. Highly recommend visiting when in the area. There is also a gift shop attached (see photos). read more

Actually 3.5 stars. After all the reviews we were very excited to try this bakery. Got there a few minutes before it opened and already the lot was filling with cars. It is in an older house; has a cute shop attached with various gifts. Nice garden on the outside. Staff was very nice. Inside there was 1 bakery case with ~10-12 muffin varieties, which they seem to specialize in. There were 2 scone varieties and some hermits/cookies. Muffins were smaller than other bakeries but for $2.50 ea. we thought they were on point. We tried French breakfast, lemon raspberry, blueberry, banana chocolate chip, and apple cinnamon. In a nutshell, they were...good. Not the best we've had, not the worst. It just felt like there was something missing. One critique we had of the apple cinnamon was that the apples were not peeled--never a good thing in baked goods. The French breakfast was dense. Tasted more like a cinnamon donut. Lemon raspberry had nice raspberries but not enough lemon zest imo. Banana chip had a lot of chips and blueberry a lot of berries, but dense. All their muffins to us were heavy and dense; definitely skipping lunch! We prefer more moist and fluffy muffins. So it's a preference. Glad we tried it. Many ppl love it. Definitely worth at least one try. read more

Great place for a morning coffee and muffin or other baked goods. The coffee is nice (just hot or iced) and there were a variety of muffins from apple cinnamon, coffee cake, blueberry, chocolate chips, etc... The cafe is attached to the gift shop which has an assortment of crafts. read more

We have been coming here to Hopkins House Bakery for over 12 years and it never disappoints. The muffins are fantastic! Go for the morning glory muffins. Chock filled with carrots, pineapple, nuts and warm spices, this is an adventure for your taste buds. If you want local flavor, opt for the Brewster Blueberry muffins. Just the right amount of sweet juicy blueberries and a sprinkling of sugar on the top. For the ones who love sweet things for breakfast, go for the French Breakfast. It is the equivalent of eating a decadent piece of French Toast! Not in the mood for muffins? No problem. They also boast the best tomato tart on the cape along with their famous gazpacho! Right across the street from the Villages entrance to Ocean Edge on 6 A, Hopkins House Bakery is a MUST for both locals and vacationers! read more

We visited the bakery and gift shop over the Columbus Day weekend and purchased an interesting bird house ($38 plus tax) that was built upon bannister pole with a stake attached to the pole's bottom - which was meant to be set into the ground. We got home from our trip and I could not wait to "stake" up my new birdhouse. The following morning I was saddened to awaken only to see that the stake had broken completely through the pole attached to the bottom of the birdhouse, leaving it lying on the ground and unusable. I immediately called the gift shop and their voicemail said that the shop would not be open for another three days. I called back at that time and asked to speak with the manager. The woman who answered said she was the manager and I explained the situation and asked for a refund. She stated that she could refund me $8 for the pole - implying that I could replace the pole. I examined the broken part where the spike met the pole and saw that it would require me to completely disassemble the birdhouse, purchase and add a new pole, drill a hole into the bottom of the pole for the stake and somehow attach (glue??) the stake to the pole, then reassemble to the birdhouse. I said, "So you're basically expecting me to rebuild this and that is not going to happen. I would like a refund." At this point she asked me for my name and address and since I paid $38 (plus tax) cash for the item, I expected to get a check in the mail. After waiting nearly three weeks, I received a check for $20 with a note from the owner that read "Enclosed is a partial refund for weather related breakage as stated 'it fell over in a storm and the pole broke' ". Needless to say, I was furious because not only did I not receive a full refund as indicated, but the owner blatantly lied about why she was not sending it - claiming that I said something that I never did. That she was compelled to completely fabricate a lie - and attribute the lie to me - as to why she was not providing a full refund was beyond astounding and speaks volumes about her lack of integrity. What a shame, because while it was a cute store - I hope potential future customers will think twice about shopping there and supporting such a disreputable owner. read more

The BEST bakery on the cape!! Things we have tried and loved: cheddar chive scone, cookies, cupcakes, lemon square, brownie, various muffins. They have a $15 credit card minimum but it's highly unlikely you'll spend less because you're going to want EVERYTHING in the case. We always go early so we haven't experienced a sell out but I'm definitely ordering a pie and a quiche ahead of our next visit. I can only imagine how good they are based on my experiences so far at Hopkins House. The girls who work here are also so friendly and nice. A favorite spot on the cape! read more

The lemon squares were awesome. The french toast muffin was sugary goodness. The store is really cute and quaint. From looking at the old brown shingled house, you just know everything inside is home made and will be good. The selection wasn't bad either. I've been going to Hopkins House for most of my life (20 years--the length of their business). That should speak volumes for their quality. I'm a carboholic and a discriminating baked goods connoisseur--yes, we exist!--so just trust me on this place. The location is a typical Cape Cod style house (grey shingles, white picket fence, and indigenous, overflowing gardens), with the bakery on the left-hand side of the house. Antiques/gallery in the back part of the house. Mary Beth Baxter, a relatively famous folk artist, is the mother of the baker (pretty sure I have the lineage correct) and her paintings adorn the house. Small room with baked goods behind the counter. What you must try: the French breakfast muffin (slathered in jam); the lemon squares; any of the cookies. Get here early for the best selection. Locals and frequent Cape vacationers like myself know this, so, please excuse my elbow as I try to beat you to those morning muffins. Everything is homemade on-site. This was a great find. We were/are staying in Brewster for three days and we noticed this bakery as we drove by. A quick walk brought us into the yard of this house right on 6A that had the sign "Bakery Open" You will find numerous items, cookies, scones, muffins and more. Is there anything more comforting than a locally owned, daily made bakery, whose goods are made from scratch and from love? That's the Hopkins House Bakery. I had the good fortune to stay on Nelson Street, and walk to the bakery in the morning. I never did get to try their dessert bars, which looked amazing in the cooler behind the counter. But I did get to try many of the muffins. I loved the French Breakfast Muffin (or Dirt Bomb, as my family calls them) and the Peach. My boys loved the chocolate chocolate chip (of course!). Another of my favorites was the lemon muffin. I would advise against the berry muffin. The muffin was dense and heavy, not light and fluffy. It could have just been the flour quality of that day's batch, so you might want to give it your own experience. A word of advise - get there early! They open at 8a, and often the line is out the door. Many muffin flavors are gone by 9a. Enjoy! read more

We were hoping to get a peach pie so we got on line before opening and believe me there is a line. But they wouldn't have pie until noon and only blueberry and tomato. Why is it so hard hard to find a peach pie or peach ice cream during peach season? So instead we got a selection of muffins including apple cinnamon muffin and an almond quossant and COOKIES! The best peanutbutter cookie I have ever had. The oatmeal cranberry cookies were perfection...not too sweet. All delicious which explains the reason for the line. A fun new stop in my sister's hometown but no peach pie.We will be back hopefully next time we will visit the gift shop. read more

They have some great things to bring over to friends or neighbors houses- tarts, cakes, pies, sticky buns. I would like to know what ingredients are locally sourced. Are the berries from the Cape? Do they partner with a chocolate maker for their chocolate? The coffee is a big disappointment and should be avoided. It's just boring drip coffee. The customer service is terrific, just really nice people. My family looks forward every summer to this place! read more

I bought the most delicious cookies - all flavors - snicker doodle, peanut butter surprise, molasses, m and m--each one as good as the next. Do not miss this stop on your next trip to Brewster. This is the BEST BAKERY on Cape Cod. This is a must to travel to in Brewster MA. Everything Heather bakes is soooo tasty and scrumptious that you end up lucky your fingers to get every crumb. Yesterday we got lemon bars, raspberry bars, Brewster brownies with chocolate, Carmel, nuts and marshmallow, peanut butter bars with a yummy chocolate topping ... All was so good! We also got the tomatoe pie with three different cheeses and the crust to die for . While you are at the bakery you can shop at their primitive store with beautiful prints by Cape Cod artist MaryBeth Baxter. My favorite item is the beautiful bird houses and Pillows. OMG! This bakery had a writeup in the Rt 28 paper in 2009. We always stay at Ocean Edge and had passed it hundreds of times - so we decided to try it. We've been going ever since. The new sausage pie is heavenly. The kids like the french morning muffin. We like the lemon and the crumb cake muffin. Of course - Sunday - can't miss the cinnamon buns. Get there before 7:45 to be first on line. Can't say enough about these guys. The owners are so sweet and it is just a fun experience. read more

Amazing. Their iced coffee used ice cubes made out of iced coffee. Their muffins were melt in your mouth good. We had blueberry raspberry, peach, French (wow- like a donut), lemon and a few others. Sooooo good. Barely made it out of the parking lot before they were all gone. Only complaint- it's crowded. It's like stepping into their living room. read more

Pretty awesome cape cod alternative to a standard dunkin or starbucks breakfast. They have a wide selection of muffins and a few scones. They also have cupcakes and other assorted baked goods. Only thing keeping it from 5 stars is the size of the muffins. They were a little on the small side but I guess that just gives you the opportunity to try more than one. read more

Hopkins House is by far one of the most delicious bakery on the Lower Cape. the cookies, the cupcakes, the pies and cobblers, the meltaways and sticky buns, the savory tarts and soup...you will NOT be disappointed with ANYTHING they make. And the staff is just lovely, so patient and kind to all the customers, no matter how busy the bakery is. And you can sit in the garden and enjoy what you've purchased.
