Such a creative use of a beautiful space. The menu is hilarious with so many tounge in cheek references to religion and the food devilishly wonderful. The drink menu has some really fun and unusual combinations, but my Margarita (rocks) was the best drink I have ever had, no premix out of a bottle here! My husband was Reallly upset that there was no coke classic. But I really came here for the MAC! I was saddened when my excitement turned into slight sadness. Way to much sauce for the amount of noodles.it was good but not AMAZING like others have said. I was swimming for the noodles. My all time favorite place for MAC is at skyway bar and grill. One of my favorites! Run by a nice family in an old church right downtown Gresham. The food is consistently very good, the service is always friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is the best around. My husband and I went there without high hopes due to our last experience a few years ago. We ordered an appetizer of lord of the fries which came to us cold about 5 minutes before our meal showed up. When his chicken strips and my Mac and cheese showed up, we tasted both... his chicken strips were uneatable, literally to the point they couldn't be chewed. I asked to have them sent back and said that we would rather be comped then have another order and the server sent over what I can assume is either the manager or owner, who harassed me and kept asking me if my husband had even eaten anything..... which I thought was totally unnecessary. Eventually after a few minutes he agreed to comp the chicken strips and come to find out our bills without any drinks was 30 dollars..... don't waste your money at this place. The service is AWFUL, the people are AWFUL and they make you feel like absolute crap. I honestly left in tears for how horrible they made me feel. read more

We were attending an even in downtown Gresham and had about 1hr 15 until it started so we decided to try Spinella's. Walked in and only 2 other tables occupied at the time and nobody at the bar. Guy comes over who appeared to be bartender, waiter, and possibly the cook as he disappeared in the back for long periods of time. Since we had a time limit we decided to order the nightly special as expected that would be quick for them to deliver and a couple sodas. Guy takes our order and disappears for about 15 minutes - still no drinks - and stands next to the bar doing nothing. I had to walk over and see about our drinks and he got all flustered and said he was sorry and would get them right out. Delivered our drinks and disappeared in the back again for about 15 minutes. Came out and visited the other two tables to check on them and then went into the back again. Comes back out about 10 minutes later and stands by the bar again. So again I get up and walk over and ask if we could get some drink refills and inquire about our food as it has now been over 30 minutes. He said it should be done shortly. Didn't bother him again until the food was delivered to the table...50 minutes after it was ordered. We had to scarf it down in order to be at our event on time...it was ok, but nothing special. Especially not worth waiting almost an hour for it. Recap: Terrible Customer Service and Extremely Slow for average food. My suggestion is go somewhere that gives a damn about their customers...lots of better places on Main. read more

Amaaaazzzzzing food, (quality, portions and taste 5 stars), and their drink selection is top notch. Hands down, one of my favorite places to go in downtown Gresham. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. My favorite dishes are the asiago mac and cheese, thunder thighs, and burgers. I typically drink beer, I love their house ale... but the cocktails I have tried have all been delicious. I recently discovered they host PaintNites on Sunday's which have been one of my new favorite days to stop in. read more

I'm so glad we found another great place to eat in Gresham! The menu is full of surprises, and as far as I can tell all good surprises. I went here with my wife and her parents. We were expecting a standard bar menu with greasy snacks, but that's not here. Sure you can order stuff deep fried, but it's all tastefully done. The chef was great, the manager was great. I really don't know why this place isn't mobbed with people all the time. PS: I read one bad review on this place, somewhere on Yelp, where the guy said he was unhappy about getting 8 fries with his burger. Maybe it was different when you went in, but when I looked at the menu last night, that's a specific item. It's called the Prison Plate, and it's a burger *with 8 fries* - says so on the menu. My wife and I got a good laugh at that. Maybe your review inspired them to change the menu, who knows. Anyway, great place, great atmosphere. We'll be back frequently. The wings, btw, excellent. Casual and relaxed environment. Food is a little pricey but well worth it! I've been here a couple times just to try a new menu item. The most recent visit I tried the roasted chicken fettuccine with capers. It was a culinary delight and portion size was very decent. I was full before I was halfway finished so took the rest home for another entire meal. I've been there on a weekend evening when they've had live music. It's always been great and not too loud. I've also been there on Karoake nights and have had loads of fun. This is family owned and operated. The owners are super friendly and always make time to say hi and visit for a few minutes with everyone from newbies to tried and true. I would recommend this for everyone to visit. read more

Worst Dinner EVER! Please save your money and your time! When we told the waitress our steak was tough she said "We didn't want to be a steak house!". However, she never offered to make it right. The mussels had way too many ingredients, they were heavy and had so much grease. The onion rings were mostly dough, the Cesar Salad tasted like ranch dressing, the rolls had to be a day old. They were stale. $75.00 is what this experience cost. Save yourself and eat at the many other great restaurants in downtown Gresham. SO first off, let me say that my wife and I still ask each other what does the name mean? Maybe someday we'll actually ask.....ANYWAY! Spinella's is a great addition to Gresham, we cannot say enough good things about it. I hate to say it, but I'm stuck on the mac and cheese. I've gone through a phase right now searching out the best mac and cheese all over and BY FAR this is the best, hands down! 503 in West Linn used to be the winner, but it's hit and miss whereas Spinella's is consistantly good everytime. The wife on the other hand has tried many different items and has said everything has been fantastic. The chicken parm is almost, dare I say it, to die for. It came the first time with broccli, I hate broccoli but tried ot, it was.....brocolli, but the wife said it was the best broccoli she has e er had in her life, and she's eaten alot of broccoli. :) The drinks are prepared as a value for your money, the flower pot bread is unique, but nessesarily the best bread I've tasted, but cute and unique. And I think this is what describes Spinella's best is unique. Drinking in a converted church? Almost feel like your doing something bad, and then your food comes and you know it's so right! It's rare that i review on yelp, but i had to mention the poor service we received, and subsequently led to our leaving. Last weekend while in Gresham with my wife 2 kids, mother and sister, we decided to check this place out, yelp said it was good for kids and they appeared to have ample seating and a good rating. When we walked in, we noticed a sign that said seat yourself, so we grabbed a table in the fron near the windows. After about 5 minutes a waitress came to our table and asked if we could move to another table as those were reserved, no problem, we moved to another table in the middle. This is where we sat for the next 10-15 minutes without such as a menu or the waittress coming back, no drinks, nothing. I thought i was crazy, maybe it isnt a resturaunt after all, but a couple to our left had an appetizer and menus, people at the bar were eating. At the 15 minute mark we decided to leave. We speculated due to the all white staff and guests that maybe they just arent friendly to interracial families,, or maybe they really arent ok with kids in the establishment. I really wish someone would have let us know, we ended up taking our business elsewhere. I may give this place another try in the future, but convincibg ny stubborn wife is another story. read more

Great cocktails. They make chicken thighs instead of wings. I must say that the thighs are much better than other restaurant's wings. Burger was really good. Overall, everything that we had was really good. Also, it is family run and the son and daughter who took care of us really made us feel welcome. i am not sure where all of the 5 star ratings are coming from. we are very frequent down town gresham visitors and thought we woudl give this place a try. Friends and I stopped in on a saturday night around 8:30. the place was SO QUIET we were afraid to even start a converstation. service was eh, like "well be right with you" and 10 minutes later...they were not busy so obvioulsy they didnt care to make a good impression on us. needless to say we had a drink and left. there wasnt any thing there that was making us stay. no music, no decor. nothing. weird. read more

Went there this past Saturday for a 60th birthday. We had 4 different wait staff and I think the owner come by and ask if we wanted drinks, food and then drinks again and then food. We ordered drinks and it took 15 minutes before we got them. Ordered an appetizer which came fairly quickly. Another wait staff came over to take our food order and I asked "who is our waiter" he replied, " well, we're all taking care of you". We ordered food, got our appetizer and then sat there for an hour before anyone came over again to ask if we wanted another drink or anything! We had a diabetic at the table and she needed to get her food! Finally I waived down someone from the 5 people behind the bar and the boy came over and I said we ordered our dinner over an hour ago, and he said yes and so did everyone else. What??? The owner came over and told us that our food was being plated as we speak. The cook came out from kitchen and with his dirty shirt and hands set our food on the table. Food was terrible! My pasta was cold and glue like! Will never eat there again! Maybe we should have stuck to a burger. read more

Only 1 IPA on draft and it was more of a lambic than hoppy. Disappointing to several of us but the staff made no effort to correct the problem (I.e. offer something else). Food was fair with dry roast beef on the French dip and a tiny amount of chicken on the Mac & Cheese which was just ok. First thing we notice walking in was how filthy the carpet in. We decided we needed to go downstairs to the restrooms and one look inside them, we turned around and left. Love this place.It's an old church that's an important part of the downtown area. The decor is simple, which lets the beautiful wood just glow. They gladly make adjustments to menu items.Food is very good. I've rarely been disappointed. A nice part of the community. Nice variety of bands, although we aren't usually there that late. I enjoy hearing the streamed music as it gives me a chance to hear groups I don't know about. read more

A little bit upset about a recent gathering we had at this establishment. I have been to this place a couple other times and was very happy overall with the food and staff. For that reason, i recommended it to have my friends birthday gathering on Sat July 21st. I called a week in advance and said I would have 10-15 people Sat night. I chose an earlier time based on the person that took my call, 6pm . This sounded good since we had a couple of under 21 in our party and therefore they could not stay past 9pm. Our party ended up having 18 people, more than RSVPd but I didn't think it would or should be an issue since there was plenty of seating however the staff seemed very put off by this when we asked to move some more tables together. We then all ordered and although I understand that the food is made to order, everybody got their food at completley different times even those that ordered at the same time, same food, same ticket, etc...We didn't order any of the major entress more or less french fries, a couple burgers, a couple sandwhiches, etc. As the evening progressed which ended up only being about 1 1/2 hours we seemed to have been rushed out. The servers closed out tickets without even asking if we wanted additional drinks (I think she only came around 1x to check on us) or dessert. It was a birthday celebration so we would have had more drinks, probably dessert and spent more $$ at your establishment. We had a total of 8 tickets which averaged $40-$60 dollars each which to me seems like enough to get better service and not feel ike we are a bother. Not to mention tips that people left although I know several, because of the lack of service and cashing us out so quickly, only left the bare minimum as a tip. I understand that it is time consuming to serve larger groups and probably a headache at times but take note you are a restaurant...This is your job to make decent food and make your patrons feel welcome (no matter if a party of 2 or a party of 6) so they return and/or recommend your establishment. If you don't want larger groups, then DON'T accept the reservation. As much as I have liked food /service in past experiences, this has now tainted those because again, we went to this restaurant on my recommendation. I will not be coming to your establishment again nor will I be recommending it for small or large parties. Thank you. read more

Old Church conversion this Restaurant is classy, tasty, and fun. I have enjoyed myself here many times and will continue to do so. Prices are reasonable, no cover, and fairly quick service. Nice work on the menu selection...and the Karaoke selection! Not much Karaoke in the Gresham area, and they do it right. Live acoustic music on Saturdays...I hope they are around for a long time. Oh ya, Sunday they have Kids Karaoke! I only know a few places that do this, and I really appreciate being able to do this with the family! read more

I wanted to leave just 1 star but I didn't try the food so I'm not gonna knock on them. I went in on a Saturday night around 9pm. I heard they have karaoke some nights which drew my attention so I stopped in to check it out. There was no karaoke...oh well, no big deal so I just wanted to sit and have a beer. The atmosphere is good. I can see it being pretty comfy and fun on a packed evening but there was barely anyone there. I sat at the bar and was greeted. Then I didn't get any service for about 5 minutes until someone behind the counter finally offered me a menu. I just looked at the beverage section real quick to see my choices and put the menu down in an attempt to get someone's attention that I was ready to order. Another 5 minutes goes by and in that time I was able to look around at the decor and notice the staff member texting on their phone behind the counter just 5 feet from me. I really just wanted to leave at that point. So I've been waiting on them. It took 10 minutes to enter, sit at the bar and order a beer. It took 10 minutes to drink the beer and sign the check. I noticed another staff member on their phone too when I was drinking my beer. Seems there's a problem there. I watch a lot of restaurant impossible and bar rescue to start paying attention to things like this. I don't know if I will ever go back unless my wife wants to try the food. It seems like the regulars get good attention but everyone else is shunned. That's just the vibe I got that night. read more

A little torn here that Yelp doesn't allow half star ratings. I was between the 3 and 4 stars but gave it 4 because of the 5 star waitress. Went here because of the reviews and we are in to trying new places lately. First the atmosphere was pretty cool. Nice old church done up nice inside. But on a hot day, it was pretty warm inside. The menu was big with many options. Bar food mostly. I tried the Reuben sandwich upon the waitresses recommendation. I haven't had once since high school over 30 years ago. I upgraded from the home made chips to their "Tornado Twister" curly fries for $2. The sandwich was awesome. The curly fries were exactly the same as I get from Arby's so I wasn't impressed. My wife had the Sicilian (french) dip. Nothing special and pretty small for the price. Au jus was good. We both thought the portions were small for the price. However, I am interested enough to go back and try this place again maybe on a cooler day. It is still really new and wasn't busy at all. A bit close to 4th Street Brewery to me to try to start a business like this but I will wish them well. read more

Came in for karaoke on a Friday night - what a joke. The only patrons in the bar were the owner's family - about 20 of them taking turns listening to each other sing. We put our names on the list - after about an hour of waiting, we asked when our turn would be - we were informed we would need to wait seven more songs. The family member next up to sing very rudely invited us to leave and go to a bar down the street over the microphone! It was the strangest scene - one couple in their sixties massaging each other, another lady reading a novel - all while actual patrons were being treated extremely poorly and invited to leave. Why even open your business for customers if you are having a family event? Needless to say, I will not be back. This place is run by some very rude folks. Any other business on Main Street would be a better choice, I would rather support small businesses that treat customers with respect. read more
