First off, I love how extensive the menu is here. Whatever you're craving, they have it. I've gotten a pasta dish and a mushroom sandwich and both were really great. You can tell that the pasta sauces are freshly made with quality ingredients. I really appreciate the amount of vegetarian options as well. One of our favorite spots in downtown Gresham. Sometimes we go for dinner, sometimes for cocktails, sometimes to listen to music and sometimes for all the above. Small family business so chances are you will see someone you recognize from the time before. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant if you're in a big hurry - this isn't fast food! All their dinners are made to order so it does take extra time. Personally, we don't mind the wait. Their Salmon Fettuccine is one of my favorites! I first found spinella's off the wall this past October. They had a band playing that night by the name of Saturated Phats. They are a talented local grou. Since then I have "date night" with my 10 year old daughter every Thursday to listen to local musicians play during family time. I ordered the Mexican Mac Magic, which was very good mac by any standard, but paled in comparison to the Creole King that my son ordered. I have no doubt that it is a dish that all of us will be craving on a regular basis. It's warm, but not burning, for anyone intimidated by creole spices. Seriously, SERIOUSLY good eats. Last time we were here I had the Father Linguine, which again was darn good if a bit on the bland side, but my aunt had the Papa's Perfect Pasta, which IS truly perfect. My husband and I don't eat out as much as we used to (hence less reviews) but when we want a date or have visitors from out of town, we choose Spinella's Off The Wall. NOTE: We have never been to the "bar hours" portion of their service after 9pm. Why? Well, let's start with the food. The reason we have no pictures to share is because it's always devoured as soon as we get it! The food was obviously made fresh for us, which is why sometimes the food isn't quick like some places, but any wait is always WELL worth it. I am boring, I always go for their Mac N Cheese (with mild sausage of course!) and I cannot get enough of the cheesy gooey wonder that is this plate. If you only "kinda" like cheese, don't get this dish! Yummm... My husband has had several things off of the menu, and has had only one "4 star" dish, the Philly Steak, and while delicious, the meat was a bit dry, the au-ju was very good though, and saved the sand which. On this occasion we had friends from out of town with us, one got the chicken parmesan, the other another red sauce dish, I believe it was the "mamma plate" both were above their expectations and they have raved about coming back here with us ever since! Drinks: My husband prefers beer and I am a rare drinker, but every time one of us has ordered a alcoholic drink (usually off of their humorous drink menu) it has been well balanced and as expected. Service: I've only seen a gentleman (I believe he's the owner) and a younger woman (I believe owner/daughter) and we have never had an issue. The woman is friendly, funny, and always quick with refills or anything we need. She chats enough to be friendly, but doesn't hang around. The owner I think is starting to recognize us, as he's a bit chattier every time, but honestly he was fine from the get go. He's prompt, friendly, and brings us whatever we need. What else can you ask for?? Maybe we are low demand customers, but we have never had an issue with food being anything but how we ordered, the drinks are refilled quickly, and the check is prompt enough we don't have to look for it, but we never feel rushed out. Honestly, the vibe is laid back, friendly to whatever crowd you bring (even kid friendly before bar hours!) and I recommend it to anyone looking for a nice sit down fresh homemade (well, by professional homemade haha) meal to relax and visit, I always bring up Spinella's! read more

I have been here a few times actually. This place has so much potential but sadly it just doesn't work. It's in an old church (cool!) but they've done nothing but throw some tables in it. Came once for dinner, nothing memorable. The place was empty except for us. Came twice for karaoke. The guy who runs it (I believe he is the owner) has no system. You just tell him what you want to sing, and then he will, at some point of his random choosing, call you up. If he decides he doesn't want you to sing, you don't sing. And the people we saw singing were INTO IT. Like, serious business. We were there to have fun. It wasn't fun. Also, full of old people...probably just the owner's friends. Food was decent but the whole place is just kind of amateur. The menu is like the Great American novel and very confusing. However it's huge and you can pretty much get anything you want. This place is obviously owned and run by people who don't have a lot of restaurant experience but maybe that's a good thing. This place has a friendly, local feel and is obviously family-owned. The menu is definitely original and the food is carefully prepared. There's nothing canned or packaged about this place. The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxing. We had the macaroni and cheese and "thunder thighs", and both were terrific. Spicy means spicy as this place doesn't skimp on taste. The only problem here is choosing what to order, as the offerings are diverse as they are tasty. We'll definitely be back to enjoy more of the menu, and to catch the impressive musical acts that play here. read more

Spinella's off the wall has great bands, Paint Nite, and karaoke. The food is amazing!! We have been coming in for a few years now and they work with our food allergies. They do not seem to be put out the way most restaurants do when you ask them to modify or how the food is cooked. They have a great selection on their menu including healthy options as well as their amazing mac and cheese. This is not your typical bar food. The owners and staff are wonderful and treat you like family. A great place for a fun and relaxing time. I recommend them every chance I get. read more

Went there on a Saturday night for their happy hour and live music, the place was busy. The music was nothing special, and it took them over 30 min. to get us our menus. We kept making eye contact with servers and we know she saw us but did nothing, not even a "hello, be right with you". I finally went up to the bar to ask for a menu and the waitress just looked at me like I was crazy for asking for one and told me she didn't see my group sitting down (sure she didn't), just pointing at the menu by the register. We ended up leaving after one drink, staff was a bit rude so I don't think I'll be going back. Even getting our bill seemed like a hassle to our waitress. read more

Stopped by on a whim looking for a late night dinner spot. Cool location, good beer on tap, great food options, great service, and great music. Chicken thighs instead of wings = plenty of meat. When our server initially came up to our table to take our order she reeked of cigarettes. We came right at 5 pm before any type of crowd and ordered a Papa's Favorite Pasta, Drive a Steak In It salad, and the kids mini meatballs. The menu warns during "peak" hours to expect a 45 min wait. Again we ordered when nobody was there! After 45 mins I asked our server about how much longer it would be. With the snottiest attitude she told me something like she didn't know what we ordered and she's been busy running food to other tables. She was rude! I have no patience for this as I too have worked in this industry. She eventually picked up on my attitude with the way she was treating us but at this point it was too late. Our slightly warm food was dropped off and we had to ask for the bread 15 mins into our meal. The chicken in the pasta tasted like it was dunked in a bucket of salt. There was nothing special about the food and it was extremely overpriced for the amount and quality. We had a similar experience this summer but thought perhaps it was a one time bad night but this sealed the deal. We will not be back! read more

So have been about 4 times now at various times of day and ordered different things. I will keep it short. The menu isn't bad, but it is too long. It feels as if they don't know what they do well and are just trying to throw stuff out there and see what sticks. The music is too loud when they play. The place is set up so as to have conversations, but this is not possible because it is so loud. Everything is overpriced for what it is. Cocktails are between $8-9 dollars, when they should be around $5. They plates are all over priced by about $3-4 dollars. If they want to stay in business they are going to have to change it up. I had just gone through a very difficult and complicated day and this was the perfect place to relax, unwind and replenish! Great music was playing here, but admittedly it was loud (why have a massive amount of speakers? You're in an old church. The acoustics are already great here.) the food and service itself were just ok. We came here for my girlfriend's birthday after her sister had recommended it to us. I got a burger that was just 'ok' and got garlic fries with it that were loaded with too much garlic. The restaurant wasn't really busy at all. Most people there were done eating and just enjoying the music since it was pouring outside. That being said, the service here was slow. We only saw our waitress a handful of times which says a lot on a slow day. If I'm paying around $15 for a burger I expect it to taste amazing. Local Cow is just a few doors down and does a similarly priced burger and fries for a few bucks cheaper total (I can't believe the garlic fries were $4 more than normal fries; LC does their specialty fries for an extra buck or two). I have no issue paying more money for a burger if it's at least about average. If you tell me your burgers are served medium and ask if that's ok it should come out medium. My burger was over cooked and just wasn't worth the money. read more
