I came here for the first time last night and had A BLAST!! Unfortunately it's winter so the beer garden was closed, but the inside was so fun! They had plenty of space and I had the chance to play one the electronics golf video game and shuffleboard! Both were fun and the crowd seemed to really enjoy the ambiance... myself included! Can't say much about the drinks because all I had was one shot but overall I heard good things from those around me. Will definitely come back! Even if only to redeem myself in shuffleboard lol. This place is like the Jersey Shores of DC with lots of buff dudes in tight tshirts but, thankfully, also with plenty of natural blondes-- and I don't mean their hair. This place is great if you look like a guido which unfortunately I don't, so I felt a little small, hence the -1 star. Nevertheless, it's a great place to watch these people in action while shooting some hoops in the back. Yeah, they got two carnival basketball setups in the back so you can compete with your buddy sober or drunk. My high was 89 points. Beat that! I've been to spider Kelly's many times and I've never had an issue. I usually enjoy myself while I'm there. Unfortunately the last time I went a few days ago I had a horrible experience. After completing the escape room down the street with my girlfriend we decided to have one beer before going home. I hadn't had anything to drink all night and had eaten maybe four or five hours prior. I had one lagunitas IPA in the span of about 20 minutes while I sat and talked with my girlfriend. When we stood up to leave to go home, I immediately felt dizzy and extremely impaired. I almost couldn't walk out of the establishment without hanging on to things to keep me from falling over. I managed to drive my girlfriend home and drop her off and mentioned to her that I was feeling really weird and dizzy. My drive back down to Woodbridge which was about 30 minutes was extremely difficult. I felt like I could barely concentrate on the road and to be honest felt like I had been drugged. I drive a Tesla and had to put it in self drive mode most of the way because I just could not drive. I am a 39 year old business owner who barely ever drinks and definitely does not do drugs. After making it home by the grace of God I stumbled around my house and got into my bed. A few moments later I projectile vomited all over my carpet. And then ran to the bathroom and vomited for a good five minutes. The room was spinning. One of two things happened. Either the bartender slipped something in my drink or the lines were dirty in their taps and poisoned the beer. Once the bartender handed me my drink it never left my site and I was not around anyone as I was sitting on a couch with my girlfriend with no one around us. It would've had to be the bartender. I will never get another drink at this place again. Be careful. I feel very lucky I even made it home safe. read more

I mean it's a bar in Clarendon, what do you expect? It has your typical drunk frat bro's all around 22-26. That's the scene. The food is mediocre at best, but again it's a sports bar, so it's more of a place you go to shoot some pool and hang out with some friends, not a food destination. If you have friends in the area, it's a great place to watch a game, but it isn't a bar I would choose to attend on my own. read more

Absolute garbage establishment. I would give less than one star if I could. They made me and two of my friends wait for a second bouncer to look at our ids because they thought they were fake. This second bouncer then proceeded to make us walk over to the closest police man so that he could check the ids. Mind you I'm 23 years old and have never had so much trouble with an id in my life. After the police man confirmed what we all knew to be true and we were finally allowed in, the bouncer tried to play it off like it was a joke. This 10 minute ordeal caused us to lose our friends that we came with and ruined the night from the start. Once you get in the bar it's overpriced drinks and a whole bunch of ugly people. I'm surprised I haven't written a review here yet since I've probably been here at least a million times. Spider's is a great spot to meet friends for a drink and not feel too crammed. I love going on Friday/Saturday nights and shout out to Luke for being a great bartender! In the summer time, I take full advantage of the newer beer garden. It's nice to have some outdoor space to relax. In regards to their food, it's pretty good for being bar food! They have the best mac and cheese in all of Arlington. It's baked with a heavy cheese crust on the top. This is what dreams are made of especially in the cold of winter. Overall, definitely check this place out since it's always a fun spot to meet friends and grab some food/drinks. I do wish their happy hour went until 8 since it's hard to make a 7pm happy hour. I would give this place 3 stars...partially because it does get ooberly crowded some nights and people at the bar don't seem to want to move so that you can order drinks.Especially during a happy hour :/ I've been here to eat food and drink and the food is decent and the drinks are pretty good especially on friday when they have their 1/2 price on their specialty cocktails menu. I think its tuesday's that they have 1/2 off on burgers and those are a pretty decent size. Every time i've had tator tots they have been really good crispy and golden brown. The veggie patty I had was pretty tasty and not grainy like others i've had. The fried pickles weren't too great they were kinda soggy, the breading was actually pretty good it just wouldn't stick to the pickles and I was pretty much done after a few. Overall...spider kelly's has a lively atmosphere with games and to watch televised games . It's certianly a place to have a good time when your with a group of friends. Came in on a Thursday night. Got a really strong rum and coke and my friend got a cup of coffee. We showed up around 10 pm and there was a decent crowd but nothing to crazy. We got our drinks quickly and found the last open pool table. We played a couple of rounds of pool. I lost all of them but still had a lot of fun. As the night went on a more rowdy crowd showered up and was kind of obnoxious. The bouncer like people walking around didn't really do anything about it ... Spider Kelly's is in a great location in Clarendon. The bar is massive with a bunch of games scattered throughout: skeeball, basketball, shuffleboard, pool, big buck, and more. They also added a new outdoor area last year that's really nice and great for happy hour. At night the scene is sometimes a little weird due to clientele, but still fun if you're with a group. They have a good amount of beers on tap and the service is average. Recommend for happy hour but there are better options at night. read more

Spider Kelly's is a big, sprawling place down in Arlington, and seems to be the place to go to really enjoy some drinking. We were there for a Puzzled Pint night on a Tuesday, seated in a side bar area. No one was working the bar, but servers kept coming through so it was fine. Most of the patrons were at the main bar or the pool tables. I was impressed by their large draft selection, and their menu seems mostly devoted to pub grub. The table split some particularly messy nachos, some tasty and interesting boneless wings, and some really creamy mac and cheese. If you're there with a group you will be better off pushing some hightops together, because the booths barely held six and not comfortably. So I spent most of my time standing. With a beer. We had a party of 8. We had to put the tables together ourselves. We waited 8 minutes before we saw anyone to ask for drinks and order. The waiter (who has worked there for ages) took our order and forgot to put in food. The Fried Pickles and the Calamari and anything with chips were good, EXCEPT the spinach/artichoke was disgusting! In fact, the server had, what looked like dip on the side of his face when he delivered it. (It was the humor for the rest of the night!!!) This bar was pretty fun! The inside was super dark which none of our group of people liked. You can order a drink at the bar but they would prefer you stay seated. They also have a beer garden in the back that has tons of seating and room for standing. Lots of flat screens surrounding it so perfect for a Saturday day drink watching football! This is a good bar to start your night at! It's pretty spacious and is smack dab in the middle of the Clarendon bars. My friends and I will sometimes start here and make our way next door to the ballroom for some hip hop music and dancing! While there is an occasional DJ, I am not too fond of the music. There are billiard tables and other games. It's quite popular on the weekends, so you can definitely meet people here! read more

This place is only getting one star because of the awful bartender they have. Talk about a totally ignorant cocky POS. My friend bought a couple of drinks and handed his card to the bartender. We got the drinks and waited about 10 minutes and my friend asked to close his tab out. The bartender said that he gave him his card back. He did not give him his card back and my friend tried to be very nice and this guy would still not even look to see if he still had the card. He then started calling my friend a f ing idiot and a dumb f*ck. The guy finally asks my friend his last name and SHOCKER he had the card right there. He wouldn't even apologize to my friend and tried to make seem like it was his fault. He needs to be fired or demoted to dishwasher immediately. Spider Kelly's has a lot going on. Games and a huge bar inside, but a different vide and nice patio outside. Be aware that they do not serve hard liquor outside, which is a shame for summer. Also, if you are planning an event they have quite a steep minimum. That may vary on the size of group or time of day. We brought in a group of 20 for food and drink but the wait staff seemed like they had better things to do than serve customers. My favorite place in town for happy hour! Environment- A lot of inside seating and great bar games! They had pool, skee ball, and enough for multiple groups to go around and play. After building a serious burgerlust one day by reading the YELP discussion thread about the Fifth Third Burger, I was excited to learn when I got home that evening that my roommate was going to meet a friend at Spider Kelly's for half price burger night. How's that for a mouthful of serendipity? When we showed up around 8:30, the place was packed. Spider Kelly's isn't a big space and their half price burger night is clearly pretty popular. Luckily the dinner rush was beginning to clear out and we scored a booth after a short wait. We all three ordered a different burger and split an order of fries and an order of rings. (Seriously? You have to order French fries a la carte?) I opted for the signature crazy-pork-n-beef-mix-'em-up Spider Kelly Burger. The burger came to me perfectly cooked and just a little bit spicy. The garlic and rosemary fries were amazing. Be careful though, I almost popped an entire garlic clove in my mouth thinking it was a stubby little French fry. The meal fully satisfied my burger craving, but I was a little disheartened by the price tag. Even on half-price burger night, with only one beer, my tab was still nearly $20. Props to Mikkela who suggested Spider Kelly's as a place to do some catching-up :) I'm definitely a fan! Damned if this wasn't one of the best burgers I've had over the past few years. If you get their "Spider Kelly" burger, you're in for a half pound of beef, and if that's not enticing enough for you already, they mix pork fat in with the burger! Definitely takes things to a new level of gluttony. The night we went, imported beers were $3.50. The selection of wine and beer wasn't terribly extensive, but should be wide enough to appeal to all tastes. They have a decent selection of free toppings, but since I'm already advising you to take six months off of your life by eating a half pound of meat and pork fat, go balls out and take a full calendar year off your life by piling on the premium toppings. They're two bucks extra each, but totally worth it. I shelled out an extra $4 and got crisp applewood-smoked bacon and a sunny-side up egg on mine. Totally worth it, and easily one of the best burgers I've had in a good long while. They're also one of the rare breed of restaurants that actually knows how to cook a medium rare burger just right (it's been my experience that at most places, it really doesn't matter how you order your burger: it comes out well done regardless). The sides are advertised as being big enough for two, and they weren't' joking. The fries were nice and crisp, and seasoned just right. As good as the burger was, I think the addition of pork fat makes the burger super tender, and hence just a little sloppy (Mikkela and I were scooping up fallen chunks of burger meat throughout the meal). As much as I like red meat, I think I'll order my next burger there medium, just to get the meat a bit firmer. The ambience definitely wasn't what you'd expect from a place that has "Spider" in their name... I was thinking it'd look kinda like a run down basement. Imagine my surprise when I walked into a carpeted dining room with mood lighting, sleek booths and a mini lounge section with plush chairs and ottomans. It honestly looked like a mini-nightclub. The verdict: This would make a great second date spot. Won't break the bank, serves good food, and has great service. I definitely have to give a special shoutout to our server, Patty. She gave great service, didn't rush us out the door, and was kind enough to sprint half a block and return the hat that I'd forgotten at the booth. She, also being a mayo and fries aficionado, gave us plenty of mayo for our burgers and the fries. It's small touches like this that make me loyal to a restaurant! read more

After checking out a concert, Katie F. and I decided to grab dinner up in Clarendon. Both of us were pretty excited to come here because we never had been and so many people had raved about it, but I really wish that we had gone just about anywhere else. We showed up between 6.30 and 6.45 and quickly found a booth to sit in. The server came over to get our drink orders and then came back with our drinks and got our food order. This was the most positive thing about the experience. After we ordered we waited. And waited. And waited. And waited. Neither of us ordered anything complicated so we weren't sure what was going on. Finally after 7.30 (so 45-1 hour after we ordered) our food came out. I got the Dr Pepper porkchop and it was burned so that the entire outside was black. The inside was dry and it was just awful. I ate the whole thing because I was paying $12 for it (a la carte, it didn't come with), but eventually I had to cut off the outside because it was so burnt. The mac and cheese was pretty good, but wasn't enough to make up for the disappointment that was my entree. We both finished our subpar meals and then we waited. And waited. And waited. And waited. No one came to get our plates or offer us a bill for at least 20 minutes after we were obviously done. Patrons from outside came in to the bar so that they could pay so obviously many people were having the same problem as us. Eventually we see the waitresses arguing with each other and just decide to leave cash rather than try to actually get the check. We handed them the cash and a "You've been Yelped!" card. You have been yelped, and your service was ATROCIOUS. We never got drink refills or any type of "Is everything alright?" Never. I generally try to give places a second chance, but this experience was bad enough that I can confidently say I will never be back here for food again. read more

Wow, what can I say that hasn't been said before for this place to, yet again, earn a 1 star rating? Disclaimer: I can't rate the food since we had eaten at the Capital Grill prior to coming here for drinks and unlike others, I didn't subtract any stars due to the patrons since the place was not busy at all and all of the patrons seemed ok to be honest! Cold and nasty describes the night we went here for a going away party for a friend. We showed up early (no lines!) and found a decent spot at the bar to order a few drinks and chat with friends. Since there is no coat check you have to hold your coat if you wore one but there were a few open chairs at the bar so we put our coats on one of them sine there were not many people there and they were not in anyones way. No problem. The problems started when the bartenders just stood around BS'ing with each other and not paying ANY attention to the patrons. When I finally got ones attention he just stared blankly at me. Was he waiting for my order? Was he stuck in some kind of time warp? Did his actual brain stop working? Not sure but there was no greeting, no offer of "can I get you anything?".......just a blank stare. Whatever. I ordered then tabbed out. I am an over-tipper by nature so the first round he got a nice tip since I was probably going to be ordering more drinks and wanted decent service. That was not what was going to happen apparently. I opened a tab since more people were showing up to our little gathering and for the next hour I got horrible service! Not a single bartender looked like they wanted to be there and their demeanor only got more surly. For some reason I was completely ignored, and so was everyone else in my party. They were NOT busy but it didn't matter....we continued to accumulate empty glasses and add them to the other empties on the bar. Usually when I go out and my glass is empty, a bartender might notice that and ask if I wanted anything else or maybe a refill. Nothing here. I constantly had to interrupt their conversations with other bartenders just to get a drink. Now around 10pm or so (remember, I was there early with friends....all mature and over 30, not like the typical power drinking drunk "bro's" they get here) they come around and remove all of the chairs around the bar. Doesn't matter if you are sitting in one, they are going to take it away from you. I asked if they could leave one that my girlfriend was sitting in and I was told no. Ok, then it is time for me to go..... I let the bartender know that I would like to tab out (just getting his attention was a chore) and he brought me my check. I paid and tipped an appropriate amount for the level of service provided but it was apparently not enough so the bartender went to the other bartenders and told them to cut off my entire party. If you don't like the tip then work harder to deserve a better one. I only ask for the minimum to give 20% and unfortunately the service was so bad that I lowered that percentage. Hopefully I didn't gloss over the fact that I got DENIED SERVICE BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T LIKE THE TIP THEY DESERVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have NEVER been denied service in my life but apparently the bartenders here expect to do nothing and still get tipped well. Not going to happen.......know what else isn't going to happen? Me ever visiting this place again. That was my FIRST AND LAST visit there ever. So, screw you Spider Kelly's for not having a handle on your staff. Unbelievably mismanaged and unsupervised. An embarrassment to the owners. If you've ever read "The Game" by Neil Strauss, you know about the secret (and pathetic) underground world of pick-up artists-in-training, and the techniques they use to hit on women. You'd also know, that the book was written almost 10 years ago. So in 2012, when a man hits on my friend and me in a bar, using a line right out of the book, you know I was amused. Checked this place out last night for a late happy hour (deals run until 8pm!) and I really liked it. There was definitely a short supply of women in bar, which confuses me as to why a guy would practice his 'skills' out in this location. But the point is that guys are harmless here. It's not filled with the frat boy/tool crowd that I typically associate with Arlington. It's filled with guys that think a 7 year old book that was also featured on a VH1 reality show will have techniques that'll help them pick up women. I mean come on, how endearing (and entertaining) is that? The crowd here was post work, relaxed and respectful. They have a section in the bar with pool tables, and another with seats for large groups. In general, just a great place to unwind. Considering how crowded the place was, I'm impressed with the service. Our waiter magically appeared whenever our glasses were nearing empty and brought everything out fast, which is not my typical experience with happy hour service. I had two beers and a (delicious) burger. My total came to 10 bucks. Can't get much better than that! read more

I was quite surprised and shocked how lowly this establishment is ranked among Yelpers. But after reading few negative reviews, I see why. I'll go into details later. My roommates and friends are regulars here on Thursdays for Happy Hour as we just drink Mojitos ($3.50) like it's Vitamin Water. We order multiples right before HH ends at 8PM so we can drink more even after 8PM. If you see bunch of Asians with multiple mojitos on their hands and on tables, that's us. The foods are above average in my mind, but nothing to be wowed by. It's only good because we're probably drinking and needing some foods to go with. Wings and burgers seem to do tricks. As for the downside, the place is very large and very divided. It almost feel likes 3-4 different bars into one giant restaurant and people seem to be VERY segregated. It's like Booz people are in one corner, Deloitte on the other, IBM there, another consulting firm here.... At one point, I felt like I was at career fair but only with drinks on my hand. There are TVs but it's smaller than what you got in your living room. So if you came out here to watch big game, please don't bother. It's LOUD and you can barely see anything, so just order wings and pizza and watch from home, so much better idea. They offer game tables, so that's a plus for me. Often times, I find myself with a mojito on one hand and just staring at TV, exactly why I don't get girls. At least there are games, so I can play with gals and make me feel bit comfortable about myself. read more

I really enjoy this bar! I've never had a bad experience due to anything really in the bar's control. It's a little too ~frat boy~ for me, but I do really enjoy their happy hour, the fun games, and the back patio. I think I'll stick to the happy hour though, because - like I said - the vibe isn't really my style during their peak night hours. The staff has always been very friendly! DO NOT GO HERE - the bouncers are a$$-holes They kicked my friend and me out for no reason; it was only half past midnight and we were just chilling. We tried to calmly convince them that we weren't causing trouble (and actually weren't even all that tipsy), but they shoved us, used racial slurs, and kept harassing us even when we had left the bar and were on the sidewalk. I think they just needed someone to abuse/screw with. The same company owns Kelly's and the Ballroom; thus, if a bouncer wants to screw with you they can also keep you from the Ballroom. This was my first time at Kelly's and I'm never going back - who needs to deal with immature, 'roiding douches with all the other nightlife options in Clarendon? I must admit that the bartenders were great, and the food/drink were ok. Kelly's just needs new bouncers, who aren't sociopaths and don't feel the need to act like stereotypically insecure high-school bullies. read more

Perhaps I shouldn't be reviewing this place since I'm not much of a "going out" sort of girl. Arlington has never really been my scene, but a few friends wanted to go the other night and I had nothing better to do, so I went. We ended up at Spider Kelly's. It was a Friday. We got right in. There was no cover. Per my previous "I'm not a going out sort of girl," I don't know if there is usually a cover or not. The place is pretty big and serves food (I didn't get anything to eat). I don't know how much the drinks are because one of my old fashioned male friends bought mine. It was crowded but not so bad that you couldn't move or hear the person that was standing right next to you. There were, of course, lots of sad looking girls wearing way inappropriate clothes and d-bag guys trying to look cool in pleather jackets (you read that right). **sigh** The highlight of the night came when two of my friends and I stood at one of the big windows and watched people get in line for the bar next store. We saw girls in 5" heels (really?), guys in athletic shorts and flip flops (really?), ... and we saw one guy throw-up and lots and lots of people step in it (ha!). Bottom line ... Headed here last night for some much needed drinking. I haven't spent much time in Arlington and thought I'd check it out. As I said the place was packed but we were able to make our way to the bar and the bartender (wish I could remember his name) was friendly and made some good-ass drinks. On the second round he even remembered what we were drinking and when we ordered some shots they were large! not some bullshit little shots like most places. Overall 3 stars. The establishment is pretty nice but the crowd just wasn't my thing. read more
