I usually come here on the weekdays because I hate coming here on weekends. It's too crowded and people act crazy. I'd rather take myself to Adam's Morgan. On the weekday though, theres no line and there's about 5 people in the dining room so it's pretty quiet and the service is fast. They have a good bar menu with happy hour specials. I recommend the fried pickles, they are seasoned perfectly and the sauce is tangy. I also enjoy eating the chicken and waffles. The chicken is so crispy and flavorful and the belgium waffles are fluffy and moist. The Dr. Pepper pork chops are also good and actually taste like dr. Pepper. Spider Kelly's is epicenter of bro-land. If you're in your early 20s, like wearing your hat backwards, drink, and want to watch the game, this seems like the place to be. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the place, but it definitely caters to a certain crowd. They have a beer garden section in the back, outside. Although it was crowded, my group was able to find a table luckily. It wasn't wall to wall people which was nice. There are several TVs in the beer garden, and they still serve food in that area which is nice. I don't drink beer, so can't comment on that. As for the food, it's your typical unhealthy fried bar food. Okay to have once in awhile, but wouldn't recommend a regular consumption of such food. We got the fried mac'n'cheese balls, boneless buffalo wings, soft pretzel, mozzarella sticks, and I got a grilled chicken sandwich with a side of grilled vegetables. Mac'n'cheese balls are really good. How could they not be good?! It's fried mac'n'cheese. The rest of the food was pretty typical. I don't think most people come here for the food if I had to guess. Not only do the bartenders have significant attitude, with regulars they only attend to, but they also have no requirement for who they allow in. Bartenders are 1. Inattentive and 2. Have attitudes and 3. Significantly overcharge prices for no apparent reason (give the blonde and young discount) Do not go to this bar. Veto at all costs, there are so many other bars that are much better. Update: there are roaches. And noted occurrences of men bringing in knives to cut people. Avoid. read more

This was the very last bar that I went to while I was in the DC area. It was just all right. We went during a Thursday afternoon. It was way crowded. I didn't form an opinion on the bartenders since they made my drinks and took my money. Wasn't rude but wasn't friendly either. I've been coming to Spider Kelly's for years, never at my own prompting, though. It's a giant space with games, food, TV's, and drinks. It's a bar. Sometimes, that's just what you need for an evening with friends for a chill Sunday brunch. Food: When you head to SK's, know that you'll end up with a ton more food than you probably need on your plate... and heartburn, you'll end up with heartburn. If you ask for something with cheese, you'll get more cheese than you'll feel comfortable telling your PCP about. The go-to orders for my group are always cheesy tots, cheese fries, mac & cheese (we like cheese, okay!?), and wings (someone ALWAYS orders the wings so I'm going to go ahead & guess they're good). Drinks: There's a pretty solid selection of beer, liquor, & mixed drinks. I usually order my drinks straight up so I can't comment on their cocktails. Service: The servers aren't the most attentive and they definitely do the bare minimum but the order is always right. Atmosphere: SK's has become more and more of a Bro Spot & a MeetUp gathering place. Even if that's not your scene, the venue is still big enough for you to enjoy yourself without being too Bro'd out. This is your typical sports bar. Bartender and customer service were stellar. It was the food that didn't meet the mark for me. I ordered nachos, might as well have been chips and salsa. There was barely any pulled chicken on there. Guacamole and sour cream added on but no salsa. So when I asked for some and the bartender said it'd be an extra charge I was like it better be a large jar of salsa! I mean if you look at my plate there was literally just chips on there. And then when the salsa came out I was highly disappointed because it was the worst salsa I've ever had! No salt, no spice. So bland!! My friend ordered their chicken sandwich. He enjoyed it. What I really loved from his dish was he ordered a side of their house sauce which was amazing! So if all else fails for food at this joint. At least you're aware they have a good house sauce, ha. Service to get an expensive ass drink 1/10. Waiting to get served was fine, there was a lot of people. I asked for 3 drinks for me and my 2 friends. The bar tender asked for my card before she gave me the drinks. She charged me for an extra drink. Then she made one of the drinks wrong. So I get that she was busy serving other people, but when I was trying to get her attention to make the drink right for my friend she would ignore me, tried for about 30 min and my friend was just like I'll just drink it. Beyond terrible service! Do not go there. I went there with my girlfriend and 2 other girls. We ordered 2 jack and diet cokes, tequila and soda, and a beer. We also played some basketball game. When I went to ask for another round of drinks, the bartender just ignored us and kept serving customers who came after us. After receiving bad service next door we ventured into Spider Kelly's'. Our drink order was taken as soon as we sat at the bar and delivered RIGHT away. Our appetizer, Fried Pickles, seemed to take a bit but it could've just been because I was starving. Lol. Once they arrived they were worth it. Thinly sliced, lightly breaded, with a spicy ranch sauce. They were damn good. Drink refills came quickly for the most part, I just wish the bartenders was more attentive at moments. The turkey sandwich was fair but missing a mayo or something to help set it off. I had the tacos, chicken and steak. The chicken tacos stole the day for me!!! They were absolutely DELICIOUS!! I was here the other day to watch the VT game with me and my closest 400 other Tech fans. We got there right as the game started and for some reason, while it was painfully obvious every single person there was there to watch the Tech game, they didn't change over to the game until like 8-10 minutes in. When we asked the bartenders to change it, they gave us attitude. Pros of this place: Cute little hidden outdoor area which was perfect to be outside while it was nice. The security guards tackled me to the ground, pulled my hair, and accused me of assaulting them. They jumped at the chance to attack me and kick me out of the bar as soon as I walked out of the restroom as if they were attacking a criminal. They hire the worst bouncers and don't do anything when these bouncers assault innocent people. I've been here to party a couple times but have never thought to try their food, and boy have I been missing out. Interesting place.....there's a contrast when you judge the vibe/environment, crowd and food. Weird vibe to some extent, kinda like a "you're not a regular" type of feel. Like the newcomer stumbles onto the set of "Cheers" thing and everybody doesn't know your name Crowd varies according to day but it can get packed. Food is surprisingly good, especially the fried chicken and mac 'n cheese. Those are must tries. The fried chicken is up there with some of the best I've ever had, in fact it rivals Georgia Brown's chicken. It's a little on the greasy side though so have some napkins ready. I'd been wary about any of the bars in Clarendon because I figured they'd be yuppie, but Spider Kelly's was actually pretty casual. In the back there's shuffleboard, and in their side annex there's basketball hoops, pinball, and pool. Food is offered, though I didn't have any. We ordered a round of tequila shots (my own bad decision, not theirs), and they gave us a double shot in much bigger glasses o_O... Very conveniently across the street from the orange line. Don't bother driving even if you don't drink; parking in this area sucks. I've been to spider Kelly's many times and I've never had an issue. I usually enjoy myself while I'm there. Unfortunately the last time I went a few days ago I had a horrible experience. After completing the escape room down the street with my girlfriend we decided to have one beer before going home. I hadn't had anything to drink all night and had eaten maybe four or five hours prior. I had one lagunitas IPA in the span of about 20 minutes while I sat and talked with my girlfriend. When we stood up to leave to go home, I immediately felt dizzy and extremely impaired. I almost couldn't walk out of the establishment without hanging on to things to keep me from falling over. I managed to drive my girlfriend home and drop her off and mentioned to her that I was feeling really weird and dizzy. My drive back down to Woodbridge which was about 30 minutes was extremely difficult. I felt like I could barely concentrate on the road and to be honest felt like I had been drugged. I drive a Tesla and had to put it in self drive mode most of the way because I just could not drive. I am a 39 year old business owner who barely ever drinks and definitely does not do drugs. After making it home by the grace of God I stumbled around my house and got into my bed. A few moments later I projectile vomited all over my carpet. And then ran to the bathroom and vomited for a good five minutes. The room was spinning. One of two things happened. Either the bartender slipped something in my drink or the lines were dirty in their taps and poisoned the beer. Once the bartender handed me my drink it never left my site and I was not around anyone as I was sitting on a couch with my girlfriend with no one around us. It would've had to be the bartender. I came here for the first time last night and had A BLAST!! Unfortunately it's winter so the beer garden was closed, but the inside was so fun! They had plenty of space and I had the chance to play one the electronics golf video game and shuffleboard! Both were fun and the crowd seemed to really enjoy the ambiance... myself included! Absolute garbage establishment. I would give less than one star if I could. They made me and two of my friends wait for a second bouncer to look at our ids because they thought they were fake. This second bouncer then proceeded to make us walk over to the closest police man so that he could check the ids. Mind you I'm 23 years old and have never had so much trouble with an id in my life. After the police man confirmed what we all knew to be true and we were finally allowed in, the bouncer tried to play it off like it was a joke. Spider Kelly's is a bar that actually serves great made from scratch food. The garlic rosemary fries was fregrant and crispy. If you are a garlic fiend like me, you will love the whole roasted garlic cloves mixed in with the fries. The chicken burger was flavorful and juicy. The spider kelly burger was decent, and it had a very strong porky flavor, so if you like a beefy burger, then don't order this burger. I loved the housemade mustard they served on the side. The sweet and tangy whole mustard seeds pop in the mouth and give the burger a great texture contrast. A major down side to Spider Kelly's is that they don't have beer on tap due to the size and architecture of the building. read more
