Have been here a few times..the new place has good ambience but felt noisy during a dinner setting. The food has not been elevated to the more upscale look of the restaurant read more

the worst, don't go here you'll leave disappointed and disrespected.. read the restaurants responses to upset customers, you will see for yourself they don't care :) read more

Best take out, though they have shifted to a newer, bigger place but this place will be alwayz known for takeouts and delivery. Food is healthy and good. Good indo chinese cuisines but excess soya sauce i fried rice and noodles...otherwise food place for a fairly good indian affair.. read more

I had it as take out last night for the first time. The food was delicious and definitely reminded me of some restaurants I used to eat at in New Delhi when younger. There are other dishes I want to try but this time I had, Paneer Lucknaowi and Chicken Tikka masala. Key: Do not eat 9PM of after cause it will leave you dehydrated! Any take out food does, or drink a lot of water :) read more

If you want to sit near a dingy screen separating access to restrooms , go ahead have your meal here. Also you have to be in very good books of the front desk person to get a seat. Perhaps give him a tip or two or drop names of owners. read more

The food is tasteless, and very pricey, smaller portions. The food was better at their old location a block down. not sure if they have changed the cooks, but the food is horrible. we were planning on doing an even at their banquet hall, but gave up the idea after trying their food. Mughal is a better option for indo chinese cravings. read more

The new look for Spice Rack is great! The look is much more modern and inviting compared to the old one. It also allows for a variety of seating - booths, small parties, large parties, long tables, round tables. If you're going on a Friday or Saturday evening, make a reservation as they get quite busy now. On the week days, you could probably get away without one. The menu has a vast variety of items! All of the food items I've had have been great. They incorporate a lot of bold flavors into each of their dishes. They are able to tailor spice level to your level of choice - the spicy can be very spicy so beware! The service is good, but sometimes can be a little slow. If time isn't an issue for you, it's not a problem. It seems like there are only 1-2 staff members that taks orders, but the dishes are brought out fairly quickly and the bus boys are fast in clearing the table. Also, they're BYOB! read more

I don't think I have had a worse encounter with an owner of a business in my entire life as I did with this one. After asking for the manager few times, and constant stalling, after a few minutes a different waiter came back saying he is out of town and can't be reached, then when we insisted we speak to a manager/owner over the phone about our horrendous experience and insect found in our food, he showed up out of nowhere.. first of all telling your employees to lie when he happened to be the guy standing in the front the whole time is a big no no, customers notice this. the best way to describe his tone and attitude was arrogant, condescending, and proud. After me venting for 8 minutes, he goes "What do you want me to do, we already replaced the item with the bug in it" "I think you just want free food" WOW WOW WOW nothing was done to make us feel better about the situation, no apology. and when I said I'll definitely be reviewing online and reporting to the FDA because that is not normal behavior at a restaurant, he said "GO AHEAD, HERES MY CARD TOO" I couldn't believe how defensive and nasty he was towards me, in fact I am still shocked. He definitely needs a course for etiquette and treating customers. read more

I have been here a couple of times to dine in, the other day we ordered take out from Grubhub. When I went to go pick it up, it took 10-15 minutes additional time because it was yet to be ready. When it was ready, the owner started to scream at me (his name is Nitin) because he was angry at the fact that we placed three different orders. I do not know why he let he anger out on the customer. Also, I realized that the portions for take out have decreased. Spending $50, you think there is enough food for a family of four, but each item looks like it has been cut in half. The Punjabi style food does not have much taste and the gravy taste like tomato sauce. Also, then naan was inconsistent, some pieces were unable to chew and some were perfect. I think this place is only known for its Indo-Chinese cuisine. I hope they can fix the customer service so more customers will see there way here. They need to improve the overall quality of food. read more

We just had dinner at this place for the first time. The decor was cool with a nice feel befitting an ethic fusion restaurant. We sat a booth next to the window. The cuisine though mostly Indian, had a unique Indo - East Asian influence and the place had a small, unexceptional, but functionally stocked bar. We skipped appetizers and dove right into the entrees: Lamb chili garlic which was superb, Tandoori mixed grill vegetables (along with a generous portion of onions/lemon) and Malvani chicken. All the items were wonderfully spiced and of good quantity. Our bread (garlic naan) was also very tasty. We also liked the fact the spiciness/heat level was appropriate (ie, we like it hot but not too hot, so we found the Medium level perfect). I finished things off with a wonderful Rasmalai desert. I know that some of the other posters cited slow or neglectful service, but we found our server(s) to be fine...We did arrive at 5:45 pm and we ordered before it got crowded. We were happy to see that this restaurant was frequented overwhelmingly by people of Indian, Middle Eastern & Asian heritage, thus attesting to its authenticity and popularity. We enjoyed our time at Spice Rack and we intend on returning soon. read more

This is our go-to restaurant for Indian Chinese. They have a new location which is much bigger and has way more room to stand outside when there's waiting. Quality of food & service is outstanding. Our favorites are Triple Schezwan Rice and American Chopseuy. read more

Great food! Lots of flavor! Good service attitude. Lots of rainbowy lighting. As an oriental I approve of this place

The ambiance is good very soothing to the eye. We were greated n taken in right away. The service to begin was very good. We ordered the Panner Sizzler and Hara bara kabab as for appetizers. The marinade in Sizzler n veggies was perfect. Very mild and has that perfect zing of spice, very good on palete and it was excellent at the right temperature. The hara bara kabab, had a good crunch on the outside, but the inner taste was bery bland. The consistency of the spice is absolutely very mild, it wasn't at par with the hara bara kabab. We ordered the Luknowie paneer, with Butter Naan. The Dish has a good pepper flavor and spice levels were perfect. I would recommend that Dish. The Naan was very disappointing after all the things.. it was very low level had no effort in making the naan style. It was absolutely depressing to see a life less Naan in that type of restaurant. They should certainly up their game on good Naan making style. Last but not least, we had the Paan Ice cream, it was absolutely delicious. Simply a genius invention, to mix the paan beetle leaves and ice cream together. It was a pleasant surprise. Yes I will certainly visit the place again to try their other stuff. The food didn't leave a bloated feeling after. The spice levels are mildly perfect. It's a place to visit again. read more

Got their banquet hall for my sons first birthday party. With booking their banquet hall, they do not allow you to cater from elsewhere, they would only let you get the hall if you cater through them as well. As the price was affordable me and my husband agreed. Everything went well until the food ran out They completely were careless did not refill food after it ran out. . All the guests complained but yet no impact. Completely waste of money! You're better off spending 10$ extra per head somewhere and getting some other catering! You'd actually get what you pay for! Updated review comments- the party took place on April 7th,2018. Never Me nor my husband got any followup calls! read more

Finding restaurants with decent Indian lunch buffets is not difficult in this area, but places I'll go back to for a pleasant Indian / Indo-fusion sit down dinner are few and far between. Luckily, Spice Rack is worthy of repeat dinner visits. No problem finding interesting menu items - some more authentic than others. The food was well prepared. The service acceptable, if uneven. Prices OK, I guess. Plenty of parking. I'll try it again soon. read more

Honestly, I love the food at this place. Every dish is well made and fresh. But what turns me off every time when going there is the service! I have been going to this place since they were at their other location and this has always been my complain. If the restaurant is expanding, please expand your staff....leave us waiting to place the order and then they never come to check up on us..They only focus on bigger parties. So i would say go to the place for sure but be ready wait and have lots of patience. read more

They make good Indian food! Some dishes like the naan, vegetable paneer dishes and appetizers are in par with some good restaurants I have had in NYC. But when it comes to the Chinese part it is not that great! To be more clear its not consistent. The other day they used basmati rice to make my chili garlic fried rice ( it's basic cooking 101-they don't mix well) I had to stop after 5 spoons, specially after paying 1.5 times the money than any good Chinese restaurant. Also in their vege biriyani, the masala was very mushy and din't mix up well. P.S. Stay away from their rice dishes. Overall a nice place to go if you are craving spicy Indian food! read more

Food here is really good. Garlic Naan is by far the best in the area. Everything here is so good. I usually get Tandoori Chicken I like it to be spicy . And chicken tikka is good as well. Great place, there's also a bar. Cheers read more

We had a group of 15 there last night. None of us had ever been, so figured might as well give it a shot. Amazing food!! There are so many Indian restaurants in the area but none of them even come close to this place when it comes to quality of food and service. Being an Indian myself, I'm always very skeptical when it comes to going out for Indian food because I know what the food is supposed to taste like (eating it all my life) but every single restaurant disappoints. This place is good, very good. Let's just hope they maintain their quality of food and service, I will definitely be back very soon. read more

This place is horrible and doesn't give the proper food that you order. They cant even accommodate how badly they messed up. The hung up on me as soon as I said that they made a mistake. I recommend a other restaurant that treats customers with respect and accommodation read more

Best place hands-down in Central Jersey and may be even beyond in the whole of Jersey, for authentic North Indian and Indo Chinese food. Great taste, quality, and service. Keep up the good work!! read more

This review is only for Indo-Chinese dishes that we tried. We've been to this place twice and there has always been a wait of 30-40minutes especially on the weekends so I suggest calling ahead and making a reservation. Now onto the food, we ordered dumplings(veg momos), dry veg manchurian, chili paneer and triple shehzwan fried rice. You must try their momos they are soft, tender and perfect. Avoid chili paneer as the paneer is not soft enough and manchurian could be better. Highlight was the triple shehzwan fried rice which was delicious and not oily like how it is at other places. Service tends to be a problem here as I believe they can get more people to serve during the weekends because it gets very chaotic. I would come back again and try their other items. read more

Great food, atmosphere and service. A new regular place for me! We had the samosa and dumplings to start which were good. Standard but tasty. We had butter chicken and mango chicken for dinner which were both great. The naan was also more "crusty" than I've had in a good way. I liked it all. read more

This place has the worst service I've ever experienced. Folks at Spice Rack are very customer friendly and they know how to manage customer's expectations. Delicious food and awesome service !!

I'm visiting this restaurant for the first time, along with a bunch of colleagues for lunch. The staff are refusing to honor lunch specials that are on the website, even though it's advertised right now. I will never visit here again; the staff was so dishonest. read more

Spice Rack - Indian Near Me - Franklin Park, New Jersey

Called in advance to make a reservation. When we got there, we ended up waiting 30 more minutes. That's fine, no big deal. Good: Veg Hakka noodles were good. Bad: The server brought our silverware and asked a girl I was with to hand it out to the table, they wouldn't place it on the table. They brought out the chutney and naan for our tandoori chicken 10-15 minutes after we finished it. The Achari chicken tasted like straight garlic. We had to ask our server to refill our water cups twice before he actually did so. They said they charge gratuity on every order. I didn't argue even though the service was crap. The host guy was a complete ass and gave attitude to a family that he seated prior to us. read more

First of all the overall transaction experience was pleasant. It's unfortunate that Chinese fusion good is not their specialty. We ordered Paneer Kung Pao, American Chopsuey, Veg Manchurian. Kung Pao had Paneer that was hard and not easy to eat although it was a nice fusion mix taste-wise. Chopsuey had dry noodles on the side and was just ok. Veg Manchurian was just ok and had Manchurian on the side rather than mixed all together and well blended. It appears their specialty is definitely not Chinese. I will give another try with North Indian Punjabi Food, let's see. read more

In simple words.... Excellent food, great place. Yes service is a bit of a challenge, but they do their best to accommodate everyone. In reviewing the comments of people who have given 1 star need to understand it's not easy to find good wait staff. My family, friends and I will continue to go to this place dispite the long drive, as it's hard to find good... No great Indo Chinese place. My compliments and continued success to the wait staff, chef and lastly the owners. Thank you. read more

This is probably my favorite Indian restaurant from now on. They have the most amazing info-chinese food, went there to celebrate my birthday and couldn't be more satisfied. After many orders they decided to stop delivering over 5 min drive. Stupid decision. Lost my business over it.

Food is still great. However, service appears to be amateurish. Couple of incidents over the phone were not very pleasant. The recent one was today. Per the website they have lunch specials (no restrictions mentioned). Called and specifically asked for 4 lunch specials and went over for 10 mins repeating myself to get the order correct. Then the gentleman says the cost is $68 and not $32 (which was the lunch special cost). Was then passed on to another gentleman who wanted to hear my order again. Luckily the first one made a note. But, apparently lunch specials are only on weekdays. Which is fine, its their business, but either they have to update their website or honor it! read more

Abosolute morons. Would not seat me because i had a child in spite of having tables empty. They let me leave the restaurant when my child is hungry all because they are busy and did not want to seat me on a table of 4. When i offered to leave they did not even care to acknowledge me. There is always a beginning to a downfall for every Indian restaurant and it has started for this retarded place with no customer service and concern. read more
