That whole experience aside has been completely fucking trumped by what…read morehappened afterwards: The maitre'd Syed R, registered himself a little Yelp account and got in touch with me Monday September 12, 2011 and had the following to say: "We are in the process of contacting yelp in regard to this blatant lie of a you have written...the bride and the parents and the rest of 190 people enjoyed except for yourself .....this is what your cousin wrote....and we have sent a copy to Yelp and our attorney..... " So first impression: Lakeside Manor does not seem to be a fan of free speech based on that e-mail. The subjective experience and opinions of someone there (note my Yelp checkin) apparently are not worth politely responding to, as they try to address their customer service issues to provide a better experience to the family wedding party, rather they would like the review removed as if it never happened and to threaten a lawsuit in an attempt to dial back free speech and have a chilling effect on public participation when you are less than pleased with a local business because every time you don't give a five star review, you might get sued. This is a fucking disgusting and morally reprehensible attempt to toll the freedoms we all take for granted. - but good thing the law is on my side, since you do not need to look hard to find a quote from Yelp CEO Jeremy Stoppelman that no Yelp user has ever been successfully sued for their reviews. Good thing I forwarded a copy of that e-mail to my fucking attorney - wait, I am a fucking attorney. So when you use LAKESIDE MANOR that is the kind of charming customer service you receive. Oh and on top of the Yelp message, everyone in your family is going to get an angry phone call from Syed R too, if you give anything less than five stars. Because you know, one Yelp review from someone states away is *that* big of a deal it is worth bothering everyone in my extended family. Apparently I am the only one who thinks the entire situation is a little fucking stupid, very fucking ridiculous, and even more fucking childish. We were searching for a venue which could accommodate our Valentine's Ball with Showcase and Social dance with full scale catering. The Sterling Ballroom team did not disappoint. From the beginning of planning to execution, we had a short amount of time, only 6 weeks! We found the venue during the last week of December, and finalized contract at the beginning of January and our event was February 9th! The Sales Team Reena and Sue tagged team well and got what we needed at a short notice with holiday downtime during the final contract arrangement. The Sterling Ballroom had been more than accommodating. They were able to set up everything to perfection. From table setup, to decoration, centerpiece etc. When our guests arrived, everyone was complimenting immediately about the Ambiance of the ballroom. The numerous chandeliers gave it the most elegant look and feel. The place was warm and the staff were the most welcoming. Special thanks to the Catering Manager Nemo who has met with our studio manager several times to ensure the House speaker system would work with AM Red Bank's sound equipment as well as on the day of, re-arranged tables to perfection as our original floor plan did not really match what we wanted (our fault, not The Sterling Ballroom's). Our event had a floating schedule. Nemo was able to get his staff to turn around quickly and serve food slightly earlier than scheduled. His team of staff were so pleasant. Everyone had a great smile on and very efficient in working. Very professional. From our end, everyone was raving about how good the food was. The salmon was extremely juicy and tender. The Paella was a very nice touch as most places wouldn't have that on the menu. The Banquet menu had great choices and we were able to select 4 entrees, 2 types of salads with great accompaniments and desserts. Refreshment was provided throughout the event which was a nice touch as we all needed coffee, water and drink for a dance event! All in all, we could not have been happier with how the event turned out. Will be looking forward to organizing more events at The Sterling Ballroom in the future and would recommend this to all who want to have a special event!
