Used Culinary Classics as a caterer several times from the Ala Carte menu. I like to contribute to businesses in our town of Sayreville. I pay cash for everything upfront so who ever picks up the order only needs the receipt. First time they were right on the mark. The food was excellent, and trays were ready at the time promised. Second time 2 sides were missing and I needed to wait for them to make the sides about 45 minutes. Guests were arriving at my house and I was waiting for food. But these things do happen unfortunately. However, the third time there was no excuse. Christmas Eve. Ordered the food and paid for it 2 weeks before. Customers were lined up in the parking of the building they were renting and down the block. It seems as though he had high school kids bringing the orders out who didn't have a clue as to what they were doing. My pick up was 3 o'clock. They didn't call my name for 2 hours after continually being promised that I am next. Finally my order was ready. I squeezed through the crowd to place my order in the car to go home. After arriving home with my guests arriving, I realized this time I was again missing 2 items from my order. So I returned to tell them and I was informed they must have given it away. And my response was to make up my 3 orders. Now the crowd outside was growing and people's orders were being given to the wrong people. Mine was finally ready after many inquiries. Got home by 6:45. Since then, the owner closed up shop and moved elsewhere, and then again moved and so on. It's a shame as the food from this caterer was really very good and he would have had a great catering business in town. But he blew it big time. My advice is to stay away from this caterer no matter his promises or price, whatever town he has landed in now. Seems as though he is running from something............. read more

I was fortunate to be invited to a retirement party that was catered by Culinary Classics Catering. Nothing was exotic but it was all delicious. Appetizers consisted of steamed muscles, fried calamari and bacon wrapped dates. There was also a platter with fresh fruits and mellon slices, cheeses and crackers. All so good. They served a wonderful buffet. This is the first time I can remember wanting to try everything just based on the looks. So I piled a plate high with a Cesar salad with the perfect amount of dressing, a loaded rigatoni pasta salad, broiled potatoes, sliced roast beef with a dark thick au jus and horseradish sauce, a excellent rollatini, vegetables and assortment of bread. 11/10/2018 Culinary Classics catered my daughter Hope's 30th birthday party this weekend. The staff was great, courteous, friendly, and very accommodating. To say the food was incredible would be an understatement. Everything was cooked to perfection and delicious. My personal favorites were the sausage and peppers, penne vodka, and the potato Pierogies were cooked perfectly!!! I myself am in the food industry so I am overly critical at times when it comes to food preparation and service and I have to say everything was superb!! My family and guests were very pleased. I'm giving them 3 stars because I've used them in the past to cater parties and always had a good experience. However tonight I had a 0 star experience. I arrived at 4:45 for a 5pm pickup. After an hour I still hadn't reached the front of the line and no one had spoke to me. I get that things happen maybe they were having an off night I don't know, but on Christmas Eve of all nights this was a horrible experience. I had people at my house waiting for me for over an hour only to return empty handed. They seemed short staffed, disorganized, and unprepared. After wasting over an hour of my time I decided I wouldn't give them the business and went home. I don't get how you arrange pickups and then don't have the food ready?? What was the point of having a pickup time... unfortunately I don't know if I will get over this pretty much ruined my evening. read more

Dave and his team did a fantastic job for North Brunswick High School on Friday June 2nd. The Class of 2017 had the first Senior BBQ ever on high school property. This was my first time ever having food catered, and it was for my babyshower. Ordering was straightforward Dave was helpful with any questions I had. The day of my shower the food delivered, set up and the staff left without saying anything. We thought everything was fine, the food was delicious, people ate and then the food ran out. It was my babyshower, I was being pulled a million directions so I didn't really have time to assess the situation. I was embarrassed when some of my guest that came a bit later didn't get to eat. We also had trouble with the coffee machine provided with our package. There were no directions or turn on button, we ended up calling to find out how it worked. No-one got to drink coffee bc it didn't have enough time to heat up. We didn't mention anything about the food because again this was our first time and just assumed that was the way it was. The shower was over and then came the complaints about the food & it not being enough for our party from those who have catered before. I was mortified.. completely embarrassed I decided to call Dave to find out if maybe I placed the order wrong. Turns out I didn't, He confirmed I should have had extra trays of food in the oven. I called the venue to confirm...sure enough, the 4 trays of food were still in the oven..wasted food we paid alot of money for. His staff failed to tell anyone from our party about the trays in the oven. He asked his staff who they spoke with and they described a black lady and a gentleman, however, no-one present at the time of drop off was black that was on the party/venue side. It was at an American legion so maybe they approached someone at the bar? Don't know... Dave was very apologetic and sorry that whoever his staff told didn't relay the message to us... it felt to me he was basically saying it was our fault?... He said there was nothing he could do but offer me a discount if we planned on using his services again. Which although the food was delicious we will not. HOW is this fair? I just don't understand why they wouldn't ask who was in charge of the party to let them know not only about the trays but the coffee machine. 4 trays of food LOST & family that spent alot of money to shower me with gifts didn't even have enough food. It honestly makes me sick to think about, so upset I haven't been able to sleep and I've cried alot. Granted I'm pregnant but I don't think I'm overreacting am I? Not only did we spend alot of money but it's the fact that the food went to waste and people didn't have enough food that bothers me. So embarrassing. I'm not a very confrontational person so I didn't argue or demand for part of my money back, like my family suggested. After much deliberating, I thought a review might help someone else. SO If you are new to placing a catering order for the first time just know that for 60 people there should be 2 trays of each item ordered and always check the ovens if you run out. This weekend we had our sons 1st birthday party in edison NJ. We had our event catered by Culinary Classics in Sayreville. Dave the owner was very helpful and accommodating as i had lots of changes to the menu. The food arrived on time as requested. We ordered the chefs pasta salad, tossed garden salad, cold cut platter with condiments, Chicken Francaise, Beef Teriyaki kabobs, those very delicious with chunks of pineapple and cherries! Penne with broccoli scampi and The eggplant Rollatini. All dishes very seasoned well and very tasty. My friend recommended culinary classics as he has ordered from them often. We even had a server by the name Kim she was great. Birthday cake was delicious as well. Highly recommend them! read more

Culinary Classics is top notch, I've had the pleasure of experiencing Dave's food at a number of catered affairs over the course of many years as a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2061 where he has catered numerous events at our Victorian Room as well as personal catered parties by others over the years.
