They were having 2 comics along with a buffet dinner with hot chafing dishes of meat balls, steamed veggies, oven roasted red potatoes, salmon, chicken parmigiana, eggplant rolatini , chicken franchise, pasta in a vodka sauce along with assorted cold platters. The food was plentiful and displayed very well. The chafing dishes could have been a bit hotter, but it was ok. The assorted platters were excellent with a wide variety to choose from. They kept on refilling both cold and hot foods for the hour The comedians were very entertaining and were on stage for about 1 1/2 hours. We just had Palms Plaza cater my nephew's first Birthday party. Everything was amazing! The food: we got hot dogs, hamburgers, sausage and peppers, marinated chicken, ribs, corn, and different salads. All of the food was amazing, but the "have to" get items are the big hot dogs, sausage and peppers, Ribs, and potato salad. The service: Larry was the grill master and he was very friendly and cooked everything to perfection, including medium rare burgers etc. There was also a helper named Sue- everyone loved her. She was like superwoman and everyone at the party said how unbelievable the service was. They helped with the cake, cleaned everything, they were amazing. Our family has made many parties here in the past and more recently I had attended an engagement party here. The inside is well decorated, it now has modern black leather couches that are perfect for sitting in by the bar when you're not dancing the night away. I never have enough words to say about how GREAT the food is. Buffet style with so many choices as well as both hot and cold appetizers. This place is a s***hole. Worst place to host a kids party. It is dark the owner tries to agree with you when he sees you are interested in renting the venue but then when you actually book it you cant even decorate the place to look kid friendly. All they care about is the "money" and rushing you out. It's a dark place in a ridiculous parking lot that is scary if you are leaving there at night. He seemed to have an issue with everything and made the party almost unenjoyable. Paid more than 3 grand where I could've just taken a garbage can and shoved my money in there instead. We had my sister's Sweet 16 Party at Palms Plaza and it couldn't have been any more perfect. From the food, the service, the DJ and MC, decorations, and anything else in between, we couldn't have asked for a better experience. We had a Memorial Day party for about 150 people at our community in Monroe. The experience was very, ahhh, interesting to say the least. From the moment the caterer, Larry, arrived he seemed to be angry. Whenever we questioned him about one thing or another he became verbally abusive. The dessert we ordered was cookies and watermelon. We asked him why he only brought 120 cookies for 150 people he started ranting & threatening to walk out & take everything with him. We eventually calmed him down & he did stay. The food was good but the aggravation ruined the party for me and the rest of the committee. I called the owner, Alan, the next day and he was just as nasty. I have been dealing with Allen and Palms Plaza Catering since 1990 and his original Brooklyn Emmons Avenue location. They catered our wedding for 230 people and that is where the love affair began. I am in the Food Service industry and was very particular to the choices and attention to detail as one would imagine. My wife threw my 40th Surprise Birthday party there for 150 people as well as attending the 70's and 80's night , Valentines Day dinner and many other wonderful events. I have NEVER had a bad experience, the Cocktail hour is always good with great food and great presentation as well as the desserts. We just had the Palms cater a BBQ for my husbands 50th ! Omg! Everything and everyone was amazing. From the set up...they accommodated where I wanted the grill even though it not perfectly flat ground and not the "best " or "easiest " place for them to work....they still made it work!!! The cooks were friendly and so organized! The food was amazing, the ribs....spectacular. I hired 2 waitresses and 2 bar tenders.....The girls they sent were dressed professionally, sweating their butts off but working so hard! The bar tender we had stay, literally stacked 50 chairs and cleaned off all the table cloths and put stuff back in the garage for us. I've never seen people work so hard. Great food, great staff! We just hosted our second event at the Palms. Unfortunately, it was for my Dad's repast, but the owner was absolutely flexible as we called him the day before! Reasonable, excellent food, and they pay attention to details. Such great pricing for such great food. Staff on the ball. For us, even our party last year was "on the bubble" with Dad's cancer, and they made it so easy and gave us to the 11th hour to actually commit. Yes, it is in a strip mall....get past it! (I thought the same thing.) Once you have an event there, it will become a first choice. We got rave reviews from each event. They pack up all the leftover food and have it waiting for you.
