Recently was tasked to host a baby shower on 7/20th for a close friend. Decided to serve Italian food and instead of cooking for 15 people I decided to cater and upon searching cane across A & S catering. First let me say how pleasant Chris and Josephine are, they are informative and made great recommendations on the selection of food to serve. The food was excellent and a big hit with everyone. There was also a sandwich platter that I didnt get a chance to take a picture of since it was half devoured by the time I remembered to do so. This place is consistently a gem. I'm so glad that I discovered them through EZCater. I have placed orders with them 3 times in one week! Lunch and breakfast are absolutely delicious. The delivery guy is such a sweetheart. He is so patient with navigation of my hospital accounts, which can be a bit tricky. Despite that, it's always been timely, presentation is nice and organized, but most importantly, the food is DELICIOUS! Wow. I've lived in Staten Island for 13 years and have never been here despite me passing it all the time when I get a pedicure. I stopped in today for a quick bite because whatever they were cooking smelled delicious from the parking lot. I ordered the hungry man breakfast, potato and egg with mozzarella on a roll, and grilled chicken with spinach and egg whites on a whole wheat wrap. (Not all for myself of course) I've been searching for a deli like this on my side of the island for years. In comparison it's like Royal Crown or Ariemma's. It was a breakfast catering event for the starters at the nyc marathon volunteers. They had a choice of French toast or scrambled eggs, some toast and muffins. Excellent French toast even though my cover said eggs. I was able to take it home and have it two days later at work. Will have again if I do it next year. read more

If I could give it no stars I would. I placed and order of eggplant rigatoni which was mediocre at best and the penne a la vodka was dry. I wouldn't even call it penne a la vodka. Horrible. Then when I went to pick up my food it wasn't even cooked! I told the girl it was for my party at 5pm why would I pick up cold food. If I didn't pay the guy already I would have walked out. After taking my own advice and getting sandwiches only, this place can not be touched. The bread is just perfect- not too hard, but a bit of crunch. The meats are delicious, service is fast and friendly. They never overload the oil and vinegar, and actually put it on the bread so it doesn't make a mess. If you're ordering a sandwich, this place can't be beat. My office has ordered from this place numerous times in the past with rave reviews from everyone. I love the heroes from here. HOWEVER Today 1/29/15 I was feeling a bit adventurous and decided to try their burger for the first time. If what I received is any indication of their grill work, then I'd say avoid the hot food. I asked for the burger medium with a side of well done crispy fries. The food came an hour and a half after the order went thru - the burger was obviously cooked at least a day ago and just reheated to a rubbery leather disk and the fries were thick cut, drenched in oil and spongey. read more

Sweet little gem of a spot. My boyfriend works in Staten Island and usually brings food home. He speaks highly of the owner, Jim, which is always a plus. And an even bigger plus is awesome food. Great management & food always deserve extra brownie points. He usually brings me a sandwich special, which I don't know the name of but basically taste like Thanksgiving!! Includes turkey, American cheese, cranberries on a toasty Italian roll. And a balsamic chicken salad with spinach, zucchini, and roasted red peppers, literally to die for. The chicken cutlet? Dont even get me started on that. I'll definitely need to take a trip out there one of these days to get the full experience, but for now I'll settle for delivered food in bed by my SO. read more

I've had this place on my to do list for quite awhile now. Whenever visiting family, my brother & I do like trying different places in our old neighborhood.This is not a misprint.It's early March and we were able to SIT OUTSIDE.With temperatures in the mid to upper 50's we sat at one of the two small tables out front for lunch. My sandwich was a Miami Vice.It's grilled chicken,melted provolone cheese,prosciutto,sun dried tomato with artichoke spread on warm Italian bread. Big brother went with a Reuben sandwich & we enjoyed our lunch in this balmy weather. While sharing our sandwiches, we noticed that it was very lean pastrami.Not like some that can be on the fatty side. It's not just an Italian deli.Breakfast,wraps & panini's are served as well. My husband and I really like their food. For that I would give 4-5 stars. Unfortunately we are not so fond of the cashier girl. She is always having a discussion with someone and ignores customers. Customers have to wait until she is done and finally takes our order. Since she's not paying attention, she frequently takes customers out of order. Then when she handles the food and container, she does so in such a rush that I always think she is going to drop everything. But we return for the food. read more

While the food was good our experience with the delivery man was so atrocious that we will never order from here again. I ordered lunch for our office. In our building deliveries must go through the loading dock and we have to come down and get it. The delivery person cannot come up for insurance purposes. The delivery man came to the front, which is fine. Our front desk man/security let him know that he needed to go to the loading dock and have us come down. The delivery man told the guy at the back door that the guys up front and I said he could just go up. (Not true whatsoever obviously). The guy at the back called the front desk to confirm- our front desk man came back and reiterated that he could not go up and that we had to come down. The delivery man then started making racist remarks to our front desk man along the lines of "you're a f***ing immigrant, I work for the city I'm going to report you and get you deported". This was also in front of the gentleman at the back door. When I came down to get the food our door man was obviously very upset. Once he explained the situation to me, I was also very upset. The delivery man said something about there being an issue which I ignored because I did not want to get into an argument with someone who clearly has no respect for others. Once I got upstairs I called the restaurant immediately. The first woman I spoke to seemed horrified. She then put what I believe she said was the owner on the phone. He seemed to not believe my story as he kept questioning me, saying "are you sure? that doesn't sound like him". He also said that he spoke with the delivery man who told him he had no issues and was given a 5$ tip which makes absolutely no sense. I used a catering website- you tip through the site. And why would our door man tip him??? So I kept saying- yes I am sure and also mentioned that the delivery man told me there was an issue also. I described the gentleman because the owner could not believe his delivery man of years would act in such a manner. The owner "apologized" but it did not seem genuine whatsoever. I do not support racism or bigotry. This establishment really needs to rethink the image they portray through the behaviors and morals (or lack there of) of their employees. read more

Today will be the last time I ever order from this place. This is the second time our order at work took over an hour to arrive. The last order the chicken in my salad was rubbery and fatty. Someone else's chicken was pink inside. Today I ordered a wrap that was absolutely disgusting! Aside from it being over an hour wait even though we were told it would be 40 minutes, our food arrived soggy and sloppy. My wrap was swimming in honey mustard making it inedible. Great catering company. Everyone loves the food, it always either arrives early or on time - never late for us. My company has several offices in NYC and JC and they can cater to all of them. Attention to detail is also great - when we had two catering orders in consecutive weeks and wanted the same food, Donna made some great suggestions to change the dishes up slightly so it is not repetitive. I really loved this place up until last week. I generally order on Fridays here, sometimes breakfast, sometimes lunch, sometimes twice on Fridays. I liked late afternoon lunches from here, as they were large and kept me full through the very long commutes back home on Friday evenings. Or breakfast, after a long trip in to work, stopping in and getting a nice large breakfast after a very long week of work and commuting to Staten Island. Two Fridays ago, I ordered a sandwich, and the prices are a bit pricey, which I didn't mind because the food had always been delicious. I order an eggplant sandwich on a panini (A-Rod) and it was ice cold. The bread was warm, but the contents were ice cold. Ok, maybe it was an off-day, but I was pretty grump spending close to $10 for a sandwich that I had to dissemble in my office just to heat the contents on a separate plate in office. This past Friday, I called my order in my phone on the way to work, like I have done for the past year. I do this, and it is usually ready when I get there and I don't waste 10-15 minutes (walk in, pay, leave). I usually get a female on the phone, and she is always very nice. This time, I got a gentleman on the phone, who obviously should never be allowed to touch their phone. I placed my order and got: "I'M NOT TAKING AN ORDER FOR ONE ITEM!!! COME IN AND ORDER IT IN PERSON!!!! I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THIS... *CLICK*" That's fine, because no one is forcing me to order at your place, and I will not be going there anymore. I ended up going somewhere else that morning that was not out of my way, and it was just as good, so I will be ordering from there from here forward. I also ended up ordering lunch at the other place as well that day, which was also good. read more

We will not give this place our business any longer. What a shame - treating paying customers as if THEY are doing US a favor. We were treated rudely, and disrespectfully when we attempted to place a breakfast buffet order for Christmas Day. We were essentially told to go away - and come back another time when it was more convenient for the owner. Some background, we had ordered from this place before and also occasionally purchased sandwiches, etc. We were in the neighborhood on Saturday December 1st so decided to place our buffet order while we had the time and were nearby, and could pay the deposit in person. There were 3 people in the place, and the owner behind the counter was busy making sandwiches. We were waiting patiently while the young lady behind the counter took a sandwich order. It was early afternoon - and we were not in a rush so just to be clear - we were not acting impatiently. When the young lady asked to help us, we explained that we just wanted to place a breakfast buffet order for Christmas Day. The young lady was about to take our order but then the owner ABRUPTLY and RUDELY interrupted our conversation and stopped her. He chastised us, telling us it was too early to place the order (meanwhile, the Christmas buffet flyers WERE out on the counter). He told us that we still had time...he then proceeded to tell us that they were swamped...very busy right now and wouldn't be able to take our order. If we wanted to wait, we would need to wait AT LEAST 20 minutes. Better yet, he suggested we leave the store and call the order in, he could take the order over the phone. (My initial thinking was - how is a phone call less intrusive than a customer waiting patiently for you to take our order? But then I guess he could just ignore the phone...). I was about to walk outside and call the store from my car - but I didn't!! We just stared at him - incredulous at the level of rudeness and borderline hostility - and then I simply told him we would leave but that we wouldn't be calling any order in, and we wouldn't be coming back ever again. He lost our business. As a customer, I do not have to justify my schedule to a small business I was trying to support. It isn't like we showed up in October to place a Christmas order - it was the first weekend in December AND they were advertising their Christmas catering. It is a disgrace that this man thinks it is acceptable to speak to paying customers this way. I felt particularly bad for the young lady working with him - she was just standing there frozen while this encounter transpired. There are plenty of quality caterers on Staten Island. Dick's Delicatessen is one, A&C is another, the list goes on and on. I won't give my business to A&S. Instead I will give my business to those small business owners who know how to provide outstanding customer service. read more

First time coming to this place because it's next to my house I figured I'd try something new.. walked and ordered a grilled chicken with vodka sauce and fresh Mozzarella wrap.. thinking it'll take a while I sat down and waited.. The worker grab some cold grilled chicken from the buffet.. grabbed some Vodka sauce that he got from some container.. dumped it on the cold grill chicken.. and proceeded to microwave it ! Wrap and all.. after two min my food was ready.. eating it was chewy chicken .. some Parts were warm and some were cold.. mozz wasn't even fresh .. looked like white American.. figures I try this place but .. no more! I use A&S often for catering. The food is always amazing and they do an amazing job. Ive ordered last minute a few times and they were extremely helpful. No matter how far I ask them to deliver, the food is always hot and delicious, and it is always on time. I recommend greatly for lunch or if you need someone for catering! I was turned on to this place by coworkers of mine, who often got lunch from here. They've downsized since they moved across the street and focus more on catering now, but they have a huge variety of sandwiches and wraps for lunch. You can make your own, but the menu choices are great. Personal favorites of mine are the Caesar, Southwestern, and potato/egg/cheese. If I lived closer, I'd be there as much as possible. read more
