We took this detour from Rte 9 almost by mistake and passed by this place and decided to check it out for a quick bite. We're so glad we did. I heard about Pastosa in NY before, but I didn't even know there's one in NJ. The door welcomed us into an amazing collection of breads, pastas, cheeses, cakes, veggie and non-veggie selections, and more! The food volume and variations made this place seem so small compared to what it offers. Everything on the deli was made onsite and fresh daily. The service was very friendly to everyone -- what appears to be old familiar faces -- and to new faces (us included). With so many selections but not wanting to overeat, we eventually decided to only get a giant potato croquette ball and a tempting lasagna block (they can heat up the order for you). Both were well cooked and the lasagna was equal if not better than those in real Italian restaurants. Reasonably priced for such fresh and good quality items. Very satisfying and fun experience and will definitely come back if we're in the area.

What's not to like about a store full of fresh pastas, breads, and mozzarella! They carry bread baked in Staten Island and Brooklyn and brought in daily. Mozzarella is fresh and homemade. There is a deli counter with Boars Head meats and pre-made meals. The workers here are always great! One thing to note is the tiny size of this store! Leave the kids at home and don't go with a crowd. This is the ultimate Italian market in this area!

This place is absolutely heaven sent. Can't go wrong with anything from here. The grilled shrimp is easily some of the best I've ever had.

The owner greeted us and was extremely friendly and accommodating as we did not have reservations and all the tables were full. The food was excellent. We ordered Chicken Parm, pasta bolognese, and chicken Frances's over linguini. All 3 dishes were delicious and the portions were plentiful. The service was superb. The atmosphere was really nice despite the restaurant being on the smaller side, they managed to utilize the space in a very good way. I would recommend this place to anyone seeking really good traditional Italian and looking for something new.

It is decorated like a NYC restaurant, very contemporary and bright. The owners Colleen and Joe Pisacreta were both very welcoming. The service was very professional and Ray did an excellent job explaining the specials to us. The busboy came around a few times to make sure we had everything we needed and Ray was on top of the clean silverware. We all started off with the house salad that comes with the main meal and warm bread. The salad was very fresh and cold. I ordered Shrimp Fra Diavolo over Linguine. My husband and another guest had Linguini with White Clam Sauce and other guests had Chicken and Veal Parmigiana. At the end of the meal, some of us had coffee, cappuccino and 2 desserts of Tartufo. The homemade cream served with the Tartufo was creamy and delicious. Being that we all came upon a recommendation of one of our friends, they came and gave us biscotti with their homemade cannoli filling. At the end of the meal, the owner/chef, Joe came to our table to say hello and chatted with us a bit. He wanted to make sure that we were happy with our meals and service.

I've been wanting to come here for a while but was worried about language barriers. Hubs and I decided to come here for lunch. The place has plenty of seating and we were immediately seated after arriving. Hubs had the Tacos "mar y tierra"- it has calamari, shrimp, baby octopus, mussels, etc. He said it was tasty and better than the traditional taco. There are chorizo bits in it, though. He was on a Lent diet and he said that he should've asked. I had the Camarones a la Diabla - it's spicy shrimp and I chose rice as a side. This was spicy and delicious. On our next visit, daughter ordered the Mojarra a la Diabla and she liked it a lot. This was nice and spicy and rich. Hubs liked it a lot and ate most of it. LOL. We also ordered the Fried Combo #7 on our 2nd visit. We picked this because we saw that soft shell crab was part of the combo. We were a little disappointed at the size of the crab and were expecting it to be a little bigger but it was tasty. The fried shrimp is better than any of the fried shrimps we've had out here in the East coast. Breading was nicely flavored and the fries were well done without us asking for it. Hubs thought that the sauce was very tasty. We all shared a 32 oz Jamaica and liked it but it was very sweet. Daughter loved it. The seafood shop next door is part of them, so you can order anything from next door and they can cook it and bring it over. The menu is practically endless! We were very happy that there wasn't any language barrier. Will definitely return to try other items on the menu.

These surf n turf tacos were amazing. If they ever switch it to a burrito it'll be 6 stars.read more

The flavors were good, the portion was surprisingly filling and they have a great lunch deal for $15 fettuccine Alfredo with a topping I believe. They have some nice soda options to choose from and everything is made fresh. Even as I was there I could see them hurling in large bags of flour for the pasta they make. For a good reasonably priced fresh pasta bite I would recommend to anyone working or hanging out nearby def give them a try!

Walking in, there is a decent amount of seating and you can see them making the food fresh in front of you. I do like how small the menu is - small menu generally menus fresher food. I don't really eat dairy so just ordered the fettuccine without cheese and then chose the arrabbiata sauce. I wish they gave me a heads up about how spicy the sauce would be - my mouth was legit on fire. Food wise - I didn't love the portion sizes, I was definitely hungry after it was over and felt the texture of the pasta was softer than I'd like - probably because it's fresh. Even though I was burned this time (literally with the spice), I'd be down to come back and try another one of their sauces and even be more open minded about adding dairy since it seems like one of their specialties!
