My husband and I had our wedding ceremony and reception at the Elks. Our ceremony was in the Cremer Room and our reception was in the Dowden Ballroom (about 120 guests). It was amazing!! So many of our guests told us that it was the best wedding they have ever been to. The staff ran our wedding so smoothly, took care of us, catered to our guests needs; I didn't have to think about anything that day, they had it all taken care of. The food was incredible. You can tell the chef, Jim, knows good food and prepares everything with great quality. We received compliments from start to finish, and weeks later. Jenny, the event manager, is thorough and wonderfully helpful; she took care of everything! The wedding package is legitimately all inclusive and the best value around! You get the food, the bar, the desserts, the set-up and clean up. We had the "big wedding" at an affordable price. This is no ordinary Elks. Some of our guests were Elks members at other lodges and even they could not believe how beautiful the rooms were. We recommend Somerville Elks for any event, small or large. Thank you to Jenny, Jim and the entire crew at the Somerville Elks. I had the pleasure of hosting a testimonial luncheon in the Cremer Room. The room was beautiful. Everything went extremely smoothly which is a lot to be said when you are working a schedule with the expectation that the event program goes as planned. Working with such a professional group of people as I found at the Somerville Elks made the execution of the plans go without hesitation. The food was wonderful and plentiful. The guests loved that they could order their entrée selection that day. They were very accommodating with the guests that had specific dietary needs and restrictions. The service was great and very timely. Our welcome reception was the perfect way to start the day giving guests time to arrive, greet and gather before starting the formal program. As planned the program was about 45 minutes and as soon as the program ended, the staff started with the dinner. I just recently celebrated my baby shower at this venue and when i say it was AMAZING...that is an understatement. Leading up to the event Jenny and her team made themselves available to help answer any and all questions. They helped guide me on the menu and other decisions where I 'had no clue' and the day off when i wanted to come in super early to decorate, they opened the doors before hours. They are super accommodating and what I love is they don't have any strict rules when it comes to vendors being used (ie. preferred vendors, etc). The venue is CLEAN and well kept and all of the staff was extremely helpful. Now lets talk about the food. OMG....amazing. And this is not the baby in my belly talking...because I know she can get greedy :). Everyone was raving about how good the food was. Hats off to the chef who definitely seasoned everything well. Feel free to copy the choices I had (flank steak, penne vodka, garlic mashed potatoes, FRESH vegetables and chicken francaise). I LOVE THIS PLACE! Recently just had my wedding there! Everything was amazing! Jenny and Jim were the best. I basically dropped everything off and they put everything together exactly how I would image. The food was amazing as well! All of my guests are still talking about the food, my favorite was the short ribs! Just melted in your mouth. The staff was amazing and was on top of everything! I even had 2 vegan guests that they were able to cater to as well. I couldn't thank them anymore. Everything was amazing and it definitely was the night I will never forget. We hosted our daughter and future son in law's engagement brunch party here yesterday. The guests could not believe how beautiful this Elk's lodge and banquet rooms are. I received so many compliments. The food and bar tender service was great. The staff were all professionally dressed in nicely appointed matching attire. The price per head is the most affordable I found and there are zero extra costs for linens, glass ware, sound system set up and even the cake. Our beautiful room also had full access to the outside patio where the men enjoyed an afternoon cigar around the gas lit fire pit. I cannot begin to describe how wonderful our wedding turned out...this is most definitely not your typical Elks Lodge!! The staff was wonderful, the food was beyond compare and everyone went above and beyond to ensure our day was as perfect as possible. As our wedding was not typical (Halloween wedding/costumes mandatory), Jim went out of his way to provide Halloween specific appetizers, entrees and desserts and Jenny was amazing making sure everything ran smoothly, we had drinks and ensured we didn't forget to eat. Best of all, Jenny and the staff practiced for 1 month the dance moves to Thriller so they could surprise us with a "show" and ultimately teach everyone the moves. We recently had our 50th Anniversary celebration at the Somerville Elks. Wish I could give it a 10!!!! Jenny is the best party planner you can ask for. She helped me with room set up and the day's festivities. She was in constant contact with me answering any questions or concerns. We had our daughter's Sweet Sixteen Party at the Somerville Elks Lodge, and words cannot express what an amazing party it was. From the start, the banquet manager was so helpful and receptive with any questions or requests. She was also very prompt with getting back to us. It can be stressful planning a big event, and she was amazing with her suggestions and help along the way. The food was delicious and the staff was excellent. We originally were looking to only move our membership from Woodbridge, NJ to somewhere closer to Princeton and stopped in Somerville, NJ. I was VERY VERY VERY happy. I used the Elks to renew my wedding vows and the renewal and reception were in the same room! I recently hosted my sister's bridal shower at the Somerville Elks, and I could not be happier with how the day turned out. Jenny was incredible in helping us plan the shower, was attentive to whatever we needed, and always had an answer for any questions we had. We held a bridal shower at the Somerville Elks on 9/22/18. The food was excellent, the cake was delicious! Jenny did a wonderful job coordinating all the details and provided outstanding service. The tables were set very nicely and there was adequate space for the guests. Extra tables were provided for the brides gifts and favors and everything was organized perfectly! EXCELLENT!! We held a welcome party for my son's wedding. We live in VA so I was a little nervous doing everything over the phone. Jenny walked me through all the details and worked with our baseball themed event. Food was delicious and service was outstanding. OH and the cake was amazing! :) There were a few issues due to road closures, heavy rain and broken pipes but Jenny was absolutely wonderful in working things out for our group. Truly glad I chose the Elks to have my wedding at. First off the food is Amazing! I heard so many compliments from my guests on the beef ribs,salmon,mashed potatoes down to the pastries. They accommodated my every wish and were so helpful during the planning. The rooms were big enough for our 150 guests and were beautifully arranged. On June 23rd the BRHS class of 1968 had their 50th high school reunion at the Elks. Everyone at the event said it was the best reunion we had ever had! Jim, Jenny and the rest of the staff were amazing in meeting all our requirements for the festivities. We reserved the large room and it was perfect size for the band, photographer & 150 guests.
