We had a girl's night out at one of Spotted Leaf's terrarium making classes and had such a blast! The classes take place in the rear of the shop, where there were tables and materials set up at each setting. To make things more fun, the classes are BYOB (some attendees even brought their own snacks and who charcuterie boards). Throughout the class, the instructor gave clear guidance on the steps to set up our terrariums while giving us time to roam around and create. We were given clear instructions for caretaking our new terrariums. I was also happily surprised to hear that if your plants outgrow their original bowl, you can bring them back to be replanted...and even get new plants for your terrariums for free! I had a few questions about my specific plants, and it became quickly clear to me that the folks here are plant experts. Definitely recommend the shop, especially the classes!
I've been to Spotted leaf at least 3 times to make a terrarium and always had a great time. I came here on a Saturday for their 11:30am class with my friend. All the times I've been to spotted leaf I did the open terrarium so this time I really wanted to do the enclosed terrarium. I feel like their terrarium classes are always so much fun and super welcoming. Everyone is just vibing and enjoying their time putting their terrariums together. The instructions of how to put your terrarium together is clear and the instructor is there to help you as well as everything is broken down by steps so it makes it super easy. This class was 11:30am-1:00pm so I felt like there was enough time to complete my terrarium but the instructor as well as the other employees were not rushing anybody which was nice. I felt like I was able to take my time. Also, I enjoy an early morning activity that way I can still have the opportunity to do something else with my day. Overall I definitely recommend this business! Such a cute date idea, friend date, or family time.
What can I say about this neighborhood gem? Owners Matt & Sam could not be nicer and all the staff are well educated about plants. I have attended several events here and have acquired most of my house plants here. Since the shop opened I have expanded my collection from the basic snake, pothos, jade and spider plants to a wider variety with the help of coaching from the staff and their awesome care cards!

With a variety of houseplants and the setting for "plant and sip" classes, I can't speak more highly! I stopped in today and had the pleasure of being helped by Nicole and Matthew. They were very knowledgeable about each of the plants and even offered to replant them into larger pots to take home
PLANT PARADISE! Walking into this sanctuary of plants that are aesthetically placed so well throughout the store is a plant lover's dream! I recognized the owner instantly from IG (how I found them) as we walked in and she greeted us so kindly for our class. I knew that I was going to have an amazing experience and moments within the class it was confirmed.. I LOVE IT HERE. I came here for my mother's birthday, super last-minute planning. I was freaking out because there was only one ticket left but thankfully I was able to snag another spot for me and my mom to enjoy the experience. Our instructor for the class, Stephanie, was delightful and made the time we spent in the spot so wonderful. She was very insightful and gave a lot of knowledge about what we were doing in the class. Also, I did note that she was so KIND, SOOOOO KIND to everyone in the room. There was a vast variety of people and she handled it so well. Overall, it makes sense why they are on the list for Favorite Mom & Pop shop on Yelp. The shop is inviting, and warm, and the value of the experience and plants is so worth the trip. (1hr for me).

There's a nice variety of plants on display throughout the shop, there's something here to captivate every plant lover's heart. Each plant is meticulously cared for, thriving in its own little corner of the shop. Care instructions are provided for every single plant in stock, ensuring that even the most novice of gardeners can nurture their greenery to perfection.
A plant lovers dream come true! My first time here was for their class experience. This was more of a whole class step by step experience. My second time here was for a studio experience. This experience also provided step by step but was more of independent pace. This option worked out well for our group of 10 who didn't all arrive at the given time. Booking a birthday must be done in advanced. Unfortunately, I missed the cut two years in a row; yet booking the studio experience was just as perfect! Booking was also a breeze as we went online, picked an open date, chose a terrarium, paid and received a prompt confirmation. Being that I already did their large bowl, we went for the medium bowl at $29 each. This included 2 plants. By far the most reasonable plant pricing ever!! The instructor was knowledgeable of all plants and super helpful all around. The owners simply amazing! Their dedication to plants and their customer satisfaction doesn't go unnoticed! The variety of plants seems unlimited. The beauty of their healthy greenery leafs are perfect. Look out for their pots, plant add on decors and dirt which is all made by them.Such a great "Spot"!
I've always loved the way terrariums looked and aspired to have one someday but didn't know where to start. Spotted Leaf made it so easy and not intimidating. The employees and owners are so friendly and warm. They have a beautiful selection of HEALTHY plants. Each class ranges in price but I think it's worth the value for a fun, informative class. If you're looking for something relaxed, engaging and interested in plants, I would highly recommend! Great for all types of expertise.
A lush indoor plant store that was hopping on a Saturday afternoon. They offer plant and sip sessions which is neat. Some are by reservation and other slots are walk-ins. They have a nice selection of plants but nothing that's flowering. They have air plants, cacti, succulents and tall trees. Pretty much anything you'd need. They have a pet safe image on the plants that can be included in homes with pets. I'll be back but as a warning, they're really busy on a Saturday and I couldn't get help. I'd go on a slower day/time.
What a fun spot! I visited during their 1 year anniversary where they had walk in terrarium building along with a spin wheel where you can win a plant. My friend and I tried purchasing tickets for their classes for a couple months now, but their classes are so popular they become full quick! I was glad we were able to just walk in and enjoy. We each won a small plant in which we purchased a cute pot for. They repot your plant for free in the store as well which was a plus. My friend and I made our way towards the back where we did terrarium building. We had a choice between building in a wine class or a tropical jar. The staff did an amazing job explaining everything to us; it was such a laid back, fun experience. With being a new plant mom, this place is a DREAM. All of the plants have signs which tell you the name of the plant and the difficulty level on maintaining it which I loved. The signs explained things in which a new plant mom would need to know to make their decision. Afterwards, we stopped by the Salted Lime Bar next door! They also have a vegan spot on the same block as well. Their social media team KILLS IT on IG all the time! Did a great job spreading the word about this event. I will be back for more plants!
I had the BEST experience here. Signed up for a painting and potting class and loved it from start to finish. We had a wonderful instructor and got to meet the owners. They were all so sweet. Such a large collection of plants and the owner was super informative on how to care for the plants. I love that they provide care cards to take home. I'm super excited to give these plants a new loving home. I took home the potted plant I made in class, an air plant which was absolutely beautiful and a peperomia. I can't wait for her to grow and start hanging down! I absolutely recommend taking a class here. I'll definitely be returning back in the near future!
I love this cute little plant shop so much! I recently picked up planting as a hobby thanks to a recent Yelp event! Since then, I've come in on my own to purchase plants and to attend an Enclosed Terrarium Building class with one of the owners Matt and I had a great time even though I went by myself. Matt explained the entire process so thoroughly including the importance of each component of the terrarium such as the rocks, charcoal, soil, moss, even the optional bugs lol. It was such a joy to learn. The process itself of building the terrarium was so therapeutic and fun. Sam, the co-owner (and Matt's wife) is also incredibly nice and knowledgeable! Definitely expect to see more check-ins here from me :) I plan to do come on a monthly basis to either take a class or just buy a plant and grow my own collection!

Obsessed with this plant store in Somerville! They have an incredible selection of plants, great prices, and wonderful service. I love the way this store is set up, with signs and quick care guides throughout, making it easy for beginners to feel welcome. All the plants were super healthy and they carried such a wide range and fun selection of plants and pottery. They also offer free pot drilling and planting with your purchase! Overall, love this place and will definitely be returning. read more

Wonderful store. We did the terrarium workshop for our friend's 30th birthday and it was so fun. Plant selection was amazing and Sam was awesome -- really made our experience great. There is street parking that is around $1 an hour. read more

Another great add to Somerville and my favorite spot. This is the cutest little shop. Went to a plant and sip class with friends and had an amazing time. The atmosphere and ambiance is thee best. The staff was friendly and attentive and we laughed alot. If you are a plant lover the plants draw you into a place of peace and tranquility and a must go!!! read more

The shop is super cute and there's a huge variety of plants! Small to big, low light to lots of light. I really like how the plants are labeled on the shelf. It tells you if it's easy-intermediate-hard. It also states if how much water and light it needs. Sam, was super helpful! They provide instruction cards for each plant which I think is really nice. I noticed that the plant I bought required humidity and Sam throughly answered all my questions. I saw that they have classes to build your own terrariums and it's BYOB which sounds like a fun time. I'll definitely be returning for my future plant purchases. I highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area. read more

We've all heard of Paint + Sip but what about Plant + Sip? I had such a great time building a terrarium here for their open studio. It's such a unique idea and it is actually very relaxing. Spotted Leaf is such a beautiful shop and you can see the love and care that goes into maintaining it. The plants are all beautiful and it makes me want to change my plant-killing ways (if only it was that easy). Matt is a great teacher and guided us through each step of building out terrarium. Always a great place to go in Somerville for cool plants and pots. They have a nice assortment of plants from small cheaper ones, to more advanced large plants. The store is a little more upscale than going to a big greenery, but always have a nice selection. Staff is very friendly and always willing to give tips on plant care. They have different plant classes too in the back. read more

I literally can not say better things about this plant shop. It embodies all the good things about a small business- personalized attention, carefully curated items, and seeing someone's passion project come to life. I spent my 30th birthday here with a handful of friends. They were so accommodating. All that was needed was a $100 deposit, which can be put towards your payment later anyways. It was $39 pp to build a terrarium in the back room, which is honestly a steal considering you get 3 little plants and all of the materials and fees are included! They have a wide arrangement of different types of plants, and the workers were all knowledgeable about the type of care they need. Not to mention, every inch of this store is instagram-worthy. I wish I lived closer, but I will certainly be coming back! Thank you Sam and Nicole for leading the terrarium class and all of your hospitality! read more

The place for all of your plant needs! Spotted leaf is the coolest plant store I've ever been to. a perfect night getting turf and then perusing spotted leaf. Could I be luckier!? Spotted leaf is an extremely user friendly plant store. Beginners and experts are going to have a blast here. The workers are well educated on plants and are so helpful. My sister and I took my mom here as a Mother's Day gift. We thought this was something fun and different to do and we were not wrong! We have done paint and sips, candle making, pottery making, ect in the past but this class was fantastic! Everything was well explained from how to build the terrarium to how to care for it. The staff was super nice and personable. We brought our own beverages and enjoyed mimosas while we built our terrariums. The store is very cute and visually appealing, plants are reasonably priced and everyone seemed knowledgeable. Would definitely return! read more

Took a paint and pot class today. Was so fun. We were able to paint our own plant pot and then pick out a plant for it. The instructor was helpful throughout activity. The owners were super informative and knew their stuff. I am normally a plant killer and the owner provided feedback that could help me with my new plant. The inside of the store was beautiful and had so many beautiful plants. I love that they provide a paper for each type of plant so you know how to best care for them. They also have a paw print by the plants that are pet friendly, which for me is a big must. Will definitely come back for another class. Would love to build my own terrarium next time !! read more
Visited the shop with a few friends to build terrariums and wow am I impressed. Well thought out shop in all categories. Organized, clean, welcoming and overall really good vibes. Absolutely LOVE this place! My friend and I went to the plant and sip desert open terrarium building and it was fantastic. We learned how to make the terrariums step by step, got to choose all of our fun extras and each came with 3 plants of our choosing. Nicole was our teacher and she was so helpful and such a wonderful energy. Matt the owner was also there and he was very kind and welcoming. Both of them were so much fun to chat with and they made the whole experience that much better. We will definitely be coming back to shop and do more workshops! They have a wonderful variety of plants at great prices. read more

Spotted is a cute plant shop that sells a variety of plants but also hosts a couple of paint and sip and terrarium self-guided classes! I recently went and built an open terrarium and it was so much fun! The owners and workers are all so friendly and give the best tips and advice on how to keep your plants living and thriving!
