I've been to Spotted leaf at least 3 times to make a terrarium and always had a great time. I came here on a Saturday for their 11:30am class with my friend. All the times I've been to spotted leaf I did the open terrarium so this time I really wanted to do the enclosed terrarium. I feel like their terrarium classes are always so much fun and super welcoming. Everyone is just vibing and enjoying their time putting their terrariums together. The instructions of how to put your terrarium together is clear and the instructor is there to help you as well as everything is broken down by steps so it makes it super easy. This class was 11:30am-1:00pm so I felt like there was enough time to complete my terrarium but the instructor as well as the other employees were not rushing anybody which was nice. I felt like I was able to take my time. Also, I enjoy an early morning activity that way I can still have the opportunity to do something else with my day. We had a girl's night out at one of Spotted Leaf's terrarium making classes and had such a blast! The classes take place in the rear of the shop, where there were tables and materials set up at each setting. To make things more fun, the classes are BYOB (some attendees even brought their own snacks and who charcuterie boards). Throughout the class, the instructor gave clear guidance on the steps to set up our terrariums while giving us time to roam around and create. We were given clear instructions for caretaking our new terrariums. I was also happily surprised to hear that if your plants outgrow their original bowl, you can bring them back to be replanted...and even get new plants for your terrariums for free! I had a few questions about my specific plants, and it became quickly clear to me that the folks here are plant experts. Definitely recommend the shop, especially the classes! read more

I was freaking out because there was only one ticket left but thankfully I was able to snag another spot for me and my mom to enjoy the experience. Our instructor for the class, Stephanie, was delightful and made the time we spent in the spot so wonderful. She was very insightful and gave a lot of knowledge about what we were doing in the class. A plant lovers dream come true! My first time here was for their class experience. This was more of a whole class step by step experience. My second time here was for a studio experience. This experience also provided step by step but was more of independent pace. This option worked out well for our group of 10 who didn't all arrive at the given time. Booking a birthday must be done in advanced. Unfortunately, I missed the cut two years in a row; yet booking the studio experience was just as perfect! Booking was also a breeze as we went online, picked an open date, chose a terrarium, paid and received a prompt confirmation. Being that I already did their large bowl, we went for the medium bowl at $29 each. This included 2 plants. By far the most reasonable plant pricing ever!! The instructor was knowledgeable of all plants and super helpful all around. The owners simply amazing! Their dedication to plants and their customer satisfaction doesn't go unnoticed! The variety of plants seems unlimited. The beauty of their healthy greenery leafs are perfect. Happy Thank You Thursday, everyone!!! There is no business more perfect to send some gratitude and love to today than one of my favorite new (well, new-ish) plant shops. As a certified plant lady who will never feel like I have enough leafy friends in my home, I love walking around and browsing the selection at Spotted Leaf. The owners, Sam and Matt are awesome people and their passion for their shop is so obvious when you walk around the space and especially when you chat them up. They have plants of all sizes and all price points, plants with all different care needs and just anything you could possibly be looking for. What I especially love is how everyone working there is so knowledgeable and will make sure you leave with a plant perfect for your space and expertise. New to the houseplant lyfe? Just let them know!! They'll make sure you find one that you love but also one you'll be able to keep alive. So far I've gotten the most beautiful pothos (that's getting so flowing and long), a snake plant, a baby monstera and a spider plant. All are doing so well and thriving beautifully. I can't wait to stop back in for my next addition to the collection. Oh, and I just also have to mention how absolutely gorgeous the entire shop is. Not only is it covered in flowing green (you'll feel calmer just walking through the doors) but you can absolutely see all of the love and thought put into every inch of the space. In addition to stopping in and plant shopping, they also do work shops! Terrarium building, pot painting and more. I think I should end my rave here before I get carried away. A lush indoor plant store that was hopping on a Saturday afternoon. They offer plant and sip sessions which is neat. Some are by reservation and other slots are walk-ins. They have a nice selection of plants but nothing that's flowering. They have air plants, cacti, succulents and tall trees. Pretty much anything you'd need. They have a pet safe image on the plants that can be included in homes with pets. I'll be back but as a warning, they're really busy on a Saturday and I couldn't get help. What a fun spot! I visited during their 1 year anniversary where they had walk in terrarium building along with a spin wheel where you can win a plant. My friend and I tried purchasing tickets for their classes for a couple months now, but their classes are so popular they become full quick! I was glad we were able to just walk in and enjoy. We each won a small plant in which we purchased a cute pot for. They repot your plant for free in the store as well which was a plus. My friend and I made our way towards the back where we did terrarium building. We had a choice between building in a wine class or a tropical jar. The staff did an amazing job explaining everything to us; it was such a laid back, fun experience. With being a new plant mom, this place is a DREAM. All of the plants have signs which tell you the name of the plant and the difficulty level on maintaining it which I loved. The signs explained things in which a new plant mom would need to know to make their decision. Afterwards, we stopped by the Salted Lime Bar next door! They also have a vegan spot on the same block as well. Their social media team KILLS IT on IG all the time! Did a great job spreading the word about this event. I had the BEST experience here. Signed up for a painting and potting class and loved it from start to finish. We had a wonderful instructor and got to meet the owners. They were all so sweet. Such a large collection of plants and the owner was super informative on how to care for the plants. I love that they provide care cards to take home. I'm super excited to give these plants a new loving home. I took home the potted plant I made in class, an air plant which was absolutely beautiful and a peperomia. Great local plant nursery that makes the best use of their small space, lining the walls and center of the room with a fairly large inventory of plants. I recently stopped by to pick up a small plant for my office. I love how they provide you with a care card that has not only the plant name but also explains exactly how to avoid killing your new plant baby. Additionally, they have a space in the back of the store where they host different events. I visited about a year ago as part of a paint and sip where we all decorated our own terracotta pot then picked out our own plant for our newly painted pot. It was an enjoyable time. I love this cute little plant shop so much! I recently picked up planting as a hobby thanks to a recent Yelp event! Since then, I've come in on my own to purchase plants and to attend an Enclosed Terrarium Building class with one of the owners Matt and I had a great time even though I went by myself. Matt explained the entire process so thoroughly including the importance of each component of the terrarium such as the rocks, charcoal, soil, moss, even the optional bugs lol. It was such a joy to learn. The process itself of building the terrarium was so therapeutic and fun. Sam, the co-owner (and Matt's wife) is also incredibly nice and knowledgeable! The shop is super cute and there's a huge variety of plants! Small to big, low light to lots of light. I really like how the plants are labeled on the shelf. It tells you if it's easy-intermediate-hard. It also states if how much water and light it needs. Sam, was super helpful! They provide instruction cards for each plant which I think is really nice. I noticed that the plant I bought required humidity and Sam throughly answered all my questions. I saw that they have classes to build your own terrariums and it's BYOB which sounds like a fun time. The first time I heard of this place was when my wife asked me if I wanted to go build a terrarium and drink wine as part of my birthday gift. Open to new things I said sure why not. This place is pretty centrally located in somerville and in a pretty good spot. Parking is pretty typical for Somerville but might be a little better then most places since it's towards the end of the main strip. When we walked in there were a bunch of plants everywhere, what one would expect from a plant shop and we let them know we where there for the class. We sat down and everything was set out for us. It was a nice spread oh things. We where taken step by step through the process and it was pretty easy to follow. The class was small enough that when you had questions it was easy to have it answered. When we picked the cuttings to put in, the guy who was helping us was a ld to grab a few things people were looking for which was nice. Overall I was pretty happy with the experience, I think it was way more fun than a traditional paint and sip and I think having the terrarium is a nice addition that you can add to your office or home. read more

I literally can not say better things about this plant shop. It embodies all the good things about a small business- personalized attention, carefully curated items, and seeing someone's passion project come to life. I spent my 30th birthday here with a handful of friends. They were so accommodating. All that was needed was a $100 deposit, which can be put towards your payment later anyways. It was $39 pp to build a terrarium in the back room, which is honestly a steal considering you get 3 little plants and all of the materials and fees are included! They have a wide arrangement of different types of plants, and the workers were all knowledgeable about the type of care they need. Not to mention, every inch of this store is instagram-worthy. Took a paint and pot class today. Was so fun. We were able to paint our own plant pot and then pick out a plant for it. The instructor was helpful throughout activity. The owners were super informative and knew their stuff. I am normally a plant killer and the owner provided feedback that could help me with my new plant. The inside of the store was beautiful and had so many beautiful plants. I love that they provide a paper for each type of plant so you know how to best care for them. All of the employees are friendly and helpful. They give care cards for every plant and have a huge variety of options- from $5 cuttings to rare $100+ plants. My sister and I took my mom here as a Mother's Day gift. We thought this was something fun and different to do and we were not wrong! We have done paint and sips, candle making, pottery making, ect in the past but this class was fantastic! Everything was well explained from how to build the terrarium to how to care for it.
