I would give it 0 star for the service. I ordered pad thai with beef, which normally at 9.95. And in the menu it says shrimp add $1. So I thought if I add shrimp it would be 1 dollars extra , like Every Other Restaurant. LOl no, they make my food as pad thai with shrimp and Extra beef, and charge $2 extra. Lol what? i eat out a lot and never run into such sketchy and misleading menu price. Their explanation makes sense as well as mine, but they don't do it the way normal restaurant would do and plus they didnt explain it to me when I ordered. And the workers there were just bland ice cold, inattentive, and had a rude vibe. And after I asked about the extra price, the blonde waitress even dropped a whole dirty folk over my head which could have just landed straight into my skull. Our group ordered the lunch Pad Thai option. The menu states it comes with a salad and a choice of spring roll or egg roll. The salad was brought to us. After we finished, the Pad Thai came; it was fine. The three of us ate about two thirds of of the meal. We had three different people wait on us. One of them came with to-go boxes and asked us about paying. I realized the spring rolls never were brought with our meal. I told the waiter this and asked to have a bit taken off our meal. He said he would bring them now. I said we were full and needed to be going. He said he would put them in to-go boxes. I said we were visiting Dallas and had no way to keep the food cool in the car all day. He said they can't take money off our bill and left the table. We waited about five minutes. A different person came to our table and I explained what happened. She left. We waited almost ten minutes. This is and always has been my all time fav Thai if not in general one of my favorite restaurants to eat at or get take out from. Not feeling so well I ordered take out from spice and ordered Pho. As always it's great until I ended uo slightly choking on something and when I coughed I felt something come up and scratched my throat. Spitting it out I saw it was a sharp metal hook. I was completely astonished and shocked. I've never had any foreign object in my food before and this was surely the LAST place I expected to find something like this in it. Lets talk Thai. I've cooked in Korat and there's nothing better than street side Pad See Ew or Panang Curry for 40 baht. I've eaten at 2 places within 30 minutes of fort worth that matched or topped it. Thai Thip in Hurst and the other is closed. Their parking is in the back and has a nice access to the back of the restaurant. I walked in and didn't immediately know where to go as there wasn't a defined waiting space there, I wondered if I came in the wrong side and should walk to the front where I would expect reception to be. A staff member was sitting by the door but didn't greet me, so I will guess that she was on break. I started to walk in and was intercepted by a male server who asked how many and after i said one, he pulled out his cell phone to check something on it for about 3 seconds before grabbing a menu and seating me. I had a coconut water. It was just right, it wasn't overly sweet compared to others i've had. I ordered Chicken Satay as my app and the Panang Curry and Pad See Ew to go so i could dissect it at home. Real Thai food can be cooked in 10 minutes or under, so if you are waiting at a thai place and it isn't just packed, you are in the wrong place. While i waited for the food, I looked around. The decor is nice, modern and well put together. No over used asian decorations. Table spacing isn't crowded nor overly spaced out, you feel part of the room. The other servers kept busy and if they weren't they made sure not to congregate in public view (from a management point of view is very important). The staff were very polite but its a hit or miss on conversation. One will only answer back, another will engage. So its not quite warm and friendly which is what creates regulars and better tips. The Chicken Satay arrived quickly and low and behold, the presentation was beautiful. 5 pieces on pencil length skewers (menu says 4 but I lucked out), a cucumber salad and peanut dipping sauce. The cucumber salad was beautifully garnished with red onion and the dressing was a sweet, light and ample clear texture. More liquid than syrup in consistency, it was brilliant in taste and presentation. The Chicken was tender, fully cooked, moist, tasted how satay should. Flavor wasn't over powering so the peanut sauce could ring true. Sweet and savory. Not too thick again not too thin. Overall the Chicken Satay- It was done correctly. I'd recommend it. I believe that was at $9 so its going to cost you the price of an entree at most places economic places but if you want the extra protein its great. Thumbs Up! The Panang Curry came with a choice of brown rice or white, you couldn't substitute sticky rice, you had to buy it separate. That seems to be the practice of Thai Select and Thailicious and other middle of the road places. I selected white and added sticky for 1.20 or 2. If they use a good quality sticky ill pay as much as 4$ for a serving....to my dismay the sticky rice wasn't a good brand. Wasn't very sticky and the portion was smaller than their white rice portion, about a small handful. Sad day. The Curry was great! 3.5-4 out of 5 stars. It had kaffir lime leaves, bell peppers, and I asked for Chicken at spicy level 2. (Real Thai places have inconsistent spicy levels because they carry flavors over from other sauces and ingredients), ask how hot is 2 today or whatever your number is normally. I enjoy a 2 or 3 and their 2 in the curry tasted a 1 at my favorite places. Someone said they have the same owners as Thai Select but i detest them so I don't know what to say. The Curry was a bit thin in consistency but not in flavor! Dip your sticky rice in and enjoy the flavors! I've had more vegetables in Panang like zucchini or green beans so sometimes it will feel too simple if one feels the bell pepper is lonely with the meat or tofu choice. Overall though. Still great flavor! I recommend again. Normally I pay 8-9 and this was $12 Pad See Ew. Looked pretty standard. This dish is traditionally flat sen yai noodles and broccoli cooked in a sweet dark soy (most soy is very salty but thai sweet dark soy isn't salty and makes the biggest difference in flavor). Also if they get hydrated noodles versus do all the work themselves will determine how the noodles survive the wok. Noodles tasted great. Tender, not entirely all stuck together in a clump. So chef knows how to use live flame on the wok! Huzzah! I'd prefer more sauce for this dish but flavor was still good. $11 little more than i normally pay. Again Thumbs Up! $40 bill, add tip was $50 flat for 1 app 1 drink 2 entree. Thats Magnolia uppy prices but is the flavor there? Maybe. I'll go back a few more times and see ^_^ Overall. I'd say this is the Best Thai in Fort Worth. Did it beat Thai Thip in Hurst? No. But if they get more involved in their sauces and were more personable with customers they could give them a run. Try em out! BTW waiter had his phone out to check time for lunch specials to save me money! read more

The popular and ever growing Magnolia street has many wonderful food options with an array of cuisine options to choose from. After seeing and hearing about how wonderful the place is we decided to indulge in Spice. After what was a confusing greet at the door we were sat at a cozy table for two. A waitress came to the table with a sad excuse for a greet and wanted to take a drink order. We asked for a moment to look through their wine selection and well as I can appreciate a sassy waitress, I have never had one roll their eyes in my face turn and walk away. It didn't take long for us to decide to leave and go down the street where we were greeted with a smile and had an excellent meal with awesome service. I have no doubt that the food is excellent at Spice, however I unfortunately can't speak to that from personal experience. My recommendation is to not waste your time and take a chance on the mood of the waitstaff and visit one of the many other great places literally steps away! read more

I love Thai food and made a mistake in ordering other than Thai dishes. Though the crispy Thai egg roll were tasty, I expected spice. Relatively bland. The Teriyaki chicken was slices of roasted chicken breast with light grill marks and cold Teriyaki sauce drizzled on it. Again, not Thai, my mistake. The Pad Thai looked great...maybe I'll try that next time. Then again, if you can't put your signature on a recipe, why put it on your menu. I love Thai Select so I knew I would love Spice just as much! We came for dinner with family on a Saturday night and had a great time. I ordered the papaya salad and the massaman curry with tofu -- both were delicious! I had the steamed rice with my curry which was a little too mushy for my taste but I think I will just get the brown rice next time. The weather was beautiful, but waiters said they don't serve outside....why have outdoor seating if you're not to seat people out there?? My friends and I were here Monday and apparently, most of the restaurants on Magnolia are closed on Monday. Spice is open on Monday so we ended up choosing this place. I drove past this place several times and I thought the exterior design looked modern and nice which was one of the reasons why I wanted to check out this place. We came in around opening time so no problem with seating. It was really cold where we were seated so we had to ask the waitress if it was possible to turn up the temperature (which she did and we are very thankful for that). The menu was simple, one page long, which made choosing something easier. I chose pad see ew with tofu with spring roll and salad with lemon dressing. The spring roll and salad came out first and the plating was nice. It was an actual spring roll which most Thai places spring rolls are usually a variant of egg rolls. The peanut dipping sauce was made well, not too thick and gooey. I wasn't too fond of the lemon dressing, that was a little too saucy and thick which made eating the salad a little hard. When the pad see ew came out, I noticed that the plate didn't have that much noodles. I expected that since this place was on a little more upscale side. I didn't like the plate as much, it was too oily and not spicy. I probably overlooked the menu and didn't see if this dish was spicy or not. One thing my friends and I realized is that the waitress didn't ask us how spicy we want the food. Thai places usually ask how spicy you want the dish to be, from a scale of 1 to 5. Overall, I wasn't too impressed with this place. For a $10 dish during lunch, I expected the food to be better. Overall this was pretty mediocre and not how I'd spend my night out for dinner in the Magnolia area. We ordered two entrees and soup for two people, we both agreed all items were not very good. Pad Thai - chicken was dry, slightly tough, dish was overly sweet, noodles not cooked right. Overall it was not very good - although not horrible. Spicy Beef Salad - mediocre, again not terrible, but not very good compared to other Thai places we've had around FW. Soup (Tom Yum something) - gain not horrible, but too salty, overly sweet. Staff were nice, the restaurant was nice (although sparse and boring, maybe that's just because they're new). They're new, lots of room for improvement. read more

As you all may know, I absolutely love Thai food. I've reviewed a few on here, and whenever a new one opens up, I'm all about trying it out. So, when Spice opened up on Magnolia, I simply had to try it out. Going at lunch time with two friends and colleague, we were promptly seated in the (almost full) dining room. The design is rather sparse/modern, but was very clean and still welcoming. After perusing the lunch menu (dishes come with a spring/egg roll and salad), I settled on the red curry with beef. If a Thai restaurant cannot get something as standard as a red curry right, then I automatically rule out the rest of their dishes. Asking for a spice level of 4 (ranges from 1-5, don't go to 5 unless all you want to taste are chilis), our server promptly put in our orders. The dishes came out with relative speed and I can happily say it was one of the best red curries I've had in Fort Worth in a while. Delicious, coconut-y, with plenty of beef and vegetables, and served with a fair amount of rice, the red curry was fantastic. The spice level was spot-on. My friends chose the Pad Thai (spice 3), and the pepper chicken (spice 4). I usually avoid Pad Thai since it is on the sweeter end of the spectrum, but with the additional chilis added, the Pad Thai was amazing. The pepper chicken was also outstanding. Why is it called "Spice"? I had Pad See Ew on our first visit, and there was just no taste on my plate - just a gelatinous mound of noodles, unseasoned chicken, egg and carrot. Holy pete, add some garlic or ginger or something. I tried to ask for a side of peanut sauce, but never could flag down our snooty waitress. My husband was equally dissatisfied with his orange chicken. I've never been this unhappy with Thai food in the DFW area. My husband and I are Thai food fanatics. After trying quite a few Thai restaurants in Fort Worth, we were beginning to loose hope in finding a good one. Thankfully, we found Spice. It's in a quirky, hip part of town that we had never been to before. Street parking is limited, but there's additional parking in the back. The space is small, we felt a little too close to the table next to us. My husband's favorite dish is duck basil, which we hadn't been able to find in Fort Worth. Spice allowed him to add duck to their basil dish! He was pretty happy about that, and we really appreciated the kitchen being so flexible. The crunch spring rolls were good, too much meat for my taste. Their chicken satay was amazing! Best cucumber salad I've had, ever, hands down. My husband's duck basil was perfect. The only reason this place didn't get a 5 star rating from us was the fact that we didn't know it was BYOB and spacing of tables. We will definitely be back. read more

Definitely my favorite Thai food in Ft. Worth! I've been here a few times, but most recently I had N-13, red curry with tofu and shrimp at a level 4. It was so good that I ate the entire thing! Next time I'm going to try a level 5 as I like my food extremely spicy. I love this place and will continue to visit when I'm craving an amazing contemporary Thai meal. I've been here twice for lunch. The first time I tried Pad Thai because that's my go-to dish at new places and then the second time I tried Pad Key Mao and I loved it. The pad Thai was a bit too dry for me and seemed to be missing something. I probably would never order it again from here because I've had much better...BUT the Pad Key Mao was on point. Super flavorful. Not overwhelmingly spicy for this light weight (I got level one) plus it was a good serving size- definitely could have taken some home but you know that never happens and it wouldn't have been as good heated up anyways! So yes, I'll definitely be back with the hubs. And I especially love that they are super fast with service. I was in and out with a college in 25 minutes. Oh, and I really like how the lunch entrees come with a side-salad and a spring roll or egg roll.
