Stopped in here for a mid afternoon lunch and it was the perfect low key break. You order from a tablet and pay before sitting down which made everything super smooth and efficient. We went with ramen and a few small plates and everything came out fresh and satisfying. Even with the streamlined ordering the service didn't feel impersonal at all. Our server was very attentive and even addressed us by name since you name your order at the start which was a small touch but honestly kind of impressive. The space was clean calm and relaxed especially during that mid day lull. Great spot if you want good food without the chaos or wait. Would absolutely come back for lunch again.

    Gyoza and curry ramen

On a cold Sunday, I was craving some ramen for dinner. Umami recently opened and I was excited to try a new restaurant. It was easy to order online and pickup my order. The order was well packed and luckily it was easy to decipher which ramen belonged to whom. My only critique would be to label the ramens in case the broths do look similar. I ordered the curry ramen and was not disappointed. I wish the broth had a bit more flavor, but everything was cooked very well. The pork gyoza was also good, with the accompanying sauce being the star of the show. Hopefully the community is supporting this new business, and I'll definitely be back for another good meal.

Quick and friendly service. I don't understand why this place isn't packed. The food was hot, fresh, delicious! My dishes consisted of fried mackerel, grilled wing skewers, bacon wrapped asparagus, pork skewers, and fried squid tentacles. Everything was scrumptious, but the mackerel and asparagus were my favorites. I don't live in Fort Worth but if I did, I'd be here once a week! Come on, Ft Worth, support this local eatery. It's somewhat unique and very tasty.

Grilled squid - lacking flavor and was kind of tough

We really wanted to love this place based on the reviews, but opinions are definitely mixed. The four of us each ordered a different type of Ramen with different broth, one curry, one tonkatsu, one black garlic, and one shoyu. If we had all ordered the shoyu, I would've definitely upgraded this rating to a four. That is by far the best tasting and flavorful Ramen broth that they offer, so don't miss out on it. The rest were sort of bland and lacking a maturity to the flavor that you would expect from a really good Ramen broth. That being said, the noodles were perfect, the pork was fantastic, so they've definitely got the meat and toppings correct. We also ordered the grilled squid because we had seen so many good reviews, but in reality it lacks flavor and was kind of chewy. We took the rest home for the dog. Service was friendly though definitely expect food to take a little while longer than normal to get out to the table, and it wasn't served all at the same time. There was probably a good 10 to 15 minute wait between the first entrée that was presented versus the last entree - ambience is consistent with the restaurant that was previously there, clean, open, and Japanese themed.

The menu has a variety of items. Many options of appetizers, sides, grilled items, Bento boxes boxes, ramen, udon and alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. It is self service. This self ordering interface was easy to use. I knew what I was ordering and it included pictures. It was more convenient and than trying to remember what I wanted and explain that to a server, but a friendly server was available if I needed anything else. Service was great and quick. What I was most impressed with was the reasonable prices. I was able to try dango for the first time for only $2. We were excited about having dango. Tasted very good, almost like mochi consistency kinda sweet. They bring a glass bottle of water to the table. We ordered many items because we wanted to try several different options. I had lychee tea that was delicious !its topped with fresh lychee. The aji tempura (3 pieces of mackerel) it was my favorite. The tempura crispness and texture was perfect and the seasoning was great. We also ordered chicken karaage, yakitori wings, grilled chicken skewers, beef udon and grilled squid. I also enjoyed the different sauces that came with the food. The presentation is incredible. We were overall impressed and happy to have this new restaurant in town.

The Food is wonderful, and each meal on the menu has different unique tastes. Great service, it only took 12 minutes to get my food. Wonderful Ambiance. The atmosphere was peaceful and chill.

Absolutely DELICIOUS! I got the gyoza, miso ramen, dragon fruit tea, and green tea mochi. The service was great as well, we had a large group and the waitress remembered our names throughout the meal and made sure we all had waters, refills, and everything we needed. The spot was great, very nice decor, and the ordering process was easy and smooth. I will definitely be coming back again! Best ramen I have had in the area!!!

Pre ordered my food over the phone, 45 minutes in advanced due to website being down. Once I arrive, they barely start making it. Glad I wasted my entire lunch sitting. Waiting for it, definitely won't be back. Also the person working 2/18/26 young guy, definitely cannot be alone. Extremely confused and lost.

This place was so cute and empty and it shouldn't have been !!! Me and my partner came here and not only was the food amazing but the service was friendly and convenient. You order at a kiosk but your servers still attend to you. Please get this place popping !!

If you've been wanting to try this place, I'd definitely recommend arriving early. Parking was probably the most challenging part of the visit. There was a rummage sale happening nearby, so the area was busier than usual. They do have a designated parking lot, but it's very small and fills up quickly. Most people will likely need to rely on street parking, which took a little patience that day. The restaurant itself is tiny, but that's part of the charm. There's a bar area that seats around 10 to 12 people and only a handful of tables. We were a party of three and were seated right away, but I could see larger groups having a harder time finding space together. The tables are also on the smaller side, so once the food starts arriving things can get a little crowded. That said, the food completely lived up to the hype. Everything we ordered was delicious. The chicken karaage was crispy and flavorful, the marinated ribeye was tender and packed with flavor, and my favorite dish of the night was easily the beef yakisoba. We each ordered a starter, three skewers, and a side that our server recommended, and every plate disappeared quickly. The atmosphere felt lively and busy, with Japanese figurines and decorations displayed throughout the restaurant. I overheard another guest mention that it reminded them of places they had visited in Japan, which made me appreciate the attention to detail even more. One thing to note - we were told they don't split bills, which wasn't a problem for our group, but it's something to know ahead of time if you're dining with friends.

Overall, I did enjoy the restaurant, but I think you have to go into it with some insights that…read morewould've been much appreciated if I had them prior to going. First and foremost, the bill cannot be split per an item ordered by an individual. You either split it equally, or it's paid in full. I went to dine with two other individuals, and we all ordered without knowing this which was rather confusing when the check came. Next, while they recommend what you order in select categories, be aware that your food is not going to be coming out in the order with which each the categories sit. We were getting items that were listed in the third category, so what should've been eaten prior to dessert before we got any of the yakitori. The location is downtown so be aware of parking, I recommend coming early, or when they open because it gets full quickly we got there at opening, but there was already a line to get in and eat by the time we were leaving. The restaurant is also relatively small, so leave what you can in the car. We didn't have anywhere to place purses so I ended up sitting with mine behind me. It was also difficult because the plates didn't fit on the table as they brought them out because we weren't eating in the course order. Lastly, remember the name of everything that you get. I ordered mushrooms, shiitake, we got mushrooms dropped to the table, but they weren't the correct ones and that seemed like a bit of an issue. The food was good, I would say the best part was definitely the yakitori, and the main dish items. I could take or leave the appetizers, the tonkatsu wasn't memorable for me, it tasted like the meat wasn't seasoned enough with salt and pepper prior to coating in flour and breadcrumbs. I also think the tonkatsu sauce was a bit bland that sat on top of it and it's something I prefer to have on the side. The highlights my meal were all of the yakitori, I enjoyed the chicken breast, soy ribeye, and shiitake mushrooms. I also liked the beef yakisoba, it's nice that they had the Japanese mayo on the side of it. I think when that's included, it always adds a nice richness. I was also a bit disappointed with the yuzu lemonade since it didn't have dried citrus in it, I'd seen prior. I thought about getting the high ball, but that was because I like the look of it overall so I was happy I didn't. If my friends wanted to go back, I would, but I don't think this is something I'd seek out

Hatsuyuki Handroll Bar is a Japanese hand roll restaurant that focuses on fresh seafood,…read moremade-to-order sushi, and a more interactive dining experience. We walked into a space centered around sitting at the bar and watching the chefs prepare each hand roll in front of us, which gave the meal a more personal feel compared to a traditional sushi restaurant. The setup is smaller and more intimate, making the experience feel closer to a sushi bar rather than a casual meal spot. The biggest highlight is the quality of the fish and the hand rolls themselves. The seafood tastes fresh, clean, and carefully prepared, with options like salmon belly, otoro, kanpachi, and crab hand rolls standing out. We ordered a few different rolls and found each one well executed, with the fish having a clean, bright flavor that did not rely on heavy sauces or toppings. Each roll is made individually, so the nori stays crisp and the textures come through better than pre-made sushi. The menu has a good balance of classic choices and more creative combinations, making it easy to try different flavors throughout the meal. The chef interaction adds another layer to the visit. Since everything is prepared right in front of you, we could see the attention put into each piece, from assembling the ingredients to serving it at the right moment. The chefs were precise in their movements and took the time to explain the different fish and flavor profiles, which made the meal feel more like an experience rather than just ordering sushi off a menu. One thing to plan for is the wait. Hatsuyuki does not take reservations, and the popularity means there can be a significant line during busy hours. We arrived earlier and found it helped us avoid a longer wait. Seating is limited, but that also helps maintain the quality and atmosphere of the restaurant. The intimate size of the bar means the service stays focused and the pacing remains personal, even when the restaurant is full. Hatsuyuki Handroll Bar is one of the stronger sushi experiences in the area for anyone who enjoys fresh seafood and a more curated dining style. The wait can be a downside, but the quality of the fish, chef preparation, and overall atmosphere make it worth visiting, especially if you are looking for something beyond standard sushi rolls. The focus on craftsmanship and the personal interaction with the chefs elevate the meal into something more memorable than a typical sushi stop.

We ended up waiting about an hour and a half, even though we noticed other people arriving after us and getting seated right away while we were still waiting. That felt pretty uncalled for, especially since other guests who arrived after us were seated first, and a few other couples agreed. That being said, the sushi was delicious, and the service was very attentive and friendly. I just wish the seating process had been handled better.
