Yelp helped us find this restaurant and they didnt disappoint. We started with appetizers Toki fries, tempura brussel sprouts, bao buns and goyza. They were all good but the favorites were the brussel sprouts they were so light and tasty and the bao buns, my kid wanted a second order. For our entrees we got combination fried rice with beef and chicken, chicken fried rice, and two sushi rolls. They have their own parking lot which was nice. The staff was friendly, we were seated immediately even though they were busy. The decor is cute and clean. They have a bar and desserts too. Tokyo Cafe is easy to miss in the best and worst way. It is tucked into a yoga studio parking lot and I genuinely circled longer than I care to admit trying to find the entrance. The cars kind of block it, so you just have to commit and trust you are not in the wrong place. Once you get inside though, it is actually really cute and cozy. Also had a funny moment walking in like... where are my Asian people at? It is small but has a few different seating vibes. A sushi bar if you want something more low key, some dimly lit tables, and a brighter dining area where I landed. No outdoor seating, but it stays busy which was surprising given the location. Menu looked like it might be tough for a vegan at first glance, but my server was super knowledgeable and made it easy. I ended up with seaweed salad, cucumber salad, edamame, roasted brussels sprouts, and a tofu style poke bowl situation that was actually really good. Green tea was solid too. Only note is if you like spice, you have to ask for it because it is very mild on its own. It is a little pricier than expected for the setting, I was around $40 for lunch, and service was great. Tokyo Cafe is a nice sushi find in cowtown. I've made a major shift in how and when I eat and Tokyo Cafe came in handy today. Overall it's just good enough to put on your to do list. The interior feels like a small place in Japan. Well lit, comfortable seating. Service is excellent. Our waitress was smart in that ,"ok, she has a high sense of awareness for what she's doing." The food. While adequate, it could and should be much better and rise to the space and service. Prices are inline with what you get . Final note,I rounded up from 31/2 stars to 4. Return visit and still impressed! I love the rotating weekly happy hour specials -- 3 different apps for $15 is seriously a can't-beat deal. This week's lineup was SO good: Spicy Salmon Tacos, Curry Poutine Fries, and Brisket Dumplings. The dumplings... I could've ordered an endless basket and been completely in love. Absolute standout. The fries weren't bad, but I probably wouldn't order them again. I just wish the toppings were more evenly distributed instead of mostly piled on top. The Spicy Salmon Tacos were the perfect little bites with a solid kick. I did ask if they could be made with another fish and was told no. which I understand, but I'd love to see that as an option in the future. These definitely deserve a permanent spot on the menu. We also tried the Roll of the Week (can't remember the name!) and added a happy hour tempura roll -- both delicious. I had a pleasant lunch at Tokyo Cafe. The vibe is casual, great service and excellent dishes. I enjoyed their happy hour rotating menu and I would highly recommend trying the Butadon bowl and Kani Ebi roll. The calamari was sliced into thick chunks and the batter was slightly soggy- I couldn't finish those due the texture. The Tan Tan Ramen broth is very flavorful, and the garlic really stands out. When you walk in you feel transported to a different place. The service is on point. We started with edamame with sea salt. They had the perfect amount of salt for us. Most places don't put enough. We also had the Tok fries! If you haven't had these, its a Just try. We made it for lunch and they have build your own bento. What a great value! We've been wanting to try this place and it was a great experience, from the Asian decor to the welcoming atmosphere to the food. We got the Shumai to start off and it was pretty good. I suggest having the sauce on the side if you're not into really spicy things. My boyfriend got the beef bowl and it was delish. The beef was perfectly seasoned and the sauce had a great flavor. You don't get much protein, so next time he wants to order it with extra meat. I got the west side Ramen which was yummy. The broth was ok, but the noodles were good and plenty. I got the pork loin since I always get the pork belly, so it wasn't as flavorful. Overall it was good, but I've had better. I grabbed a yellowtail & eel maki rolls, a California roll, and the Roll of the Day, after devouring these fun borderline delicious rolls, the wonderful Julia recommended the White Tiger Roll, the yamagobo hidden discreetly next to the spicy salmon within was a delightful pop, I would come back simply on the recommendation. The rolls are affordable and a solid spot for a quick dine in with a lovely and fun aesthetic. Hard to go wrong with Tokyo Cafe. The sashimi and sushi rooms were really good. The Server listened and communicated to the Sushi Chef that it can't do spicy anything so no Wasabi and no spicy sauces. Finally, I got my order perfect. It is a smaller restaurant so it does get noisy but the paper lanterns that hang from the ceiling give it a fun Japanese feel. It was Happy Hour when we went and the offer several drink and food options at a lower price. But I think the sushi rolls I got were smaller since they were on the Happy Hour menu. read more

On my last visit, our waiter was especially wonderful as he explained different menu questions with patience. The food and appetizers were all delicious and plentiful. A hit-and-miss experience. Because the tempura Brussels sprouts appetizer we were served had been made with the dregs (leaves and other small bits) of the already small sprouts, it was mostly a bowl of fried tempura batter -- we thought we had been served the wrong thing! The okonomiyaki ("TOKYOkonomiyaki") was a true disappointment: it was about an inch thick (!), dense, and starchy, without much flavor. The white tiger sushi roll was pretty good, especially the seared white tuna on top, but the unagi (eel) sushi did not have a lot of sauce. My dinner hosts (locals) apologized for the experience for two days afterward, and spoke with friends about our surprisingly disappointing dinner (they have been fans of Tokyo Cafe for years), who told them that the restaurant's primary chef "has checked out." read more

This place is pretty solid. It's in a cool spot, a real neighborhood hangout. The exterior and interior were both very modern, but not cold. We came in at around 7:30pm. When we walked in, we were waiting there for a minute before someone approached us. He seemed a little frazzled to ensure that he didn't seat us in an area where the servers are too bombarded. I just felt his nervous energy. We got seated after a few minutes in a nice corner table. We were quickly greeted by our server and ordered drinks, two apps, and our ramen. We had the furikake riblets and the bao buns. To our surprise, the baos were filled with brisket. I liked the taste of the bun and that it had a little crunch on the bottom, but I wasn't really a fan of the brisket with the bbq sauce on the side. The brisket wasn't as tender as I had hoped. The riblets though were really nicely done. They had a nice smoky flavor to them and were perfectly seasoned with that furikake. I had the westside ramen with pork belly. Coming from Los Angeles, I'm very particular about my ramen because Tsujita ruined it for me. I will forever compare future ramen experiences with Tsujita. This place was pretty solid. The most important thing about ramen, to me, is the broth. This broth was flavorful. It didn't taste as fatty as the Tsujita broth, which could be a positive thing for most people. I would come and eat the ramen here again. I'd like to try the yakisoba and the katsu pork bowl. The parking is easy. There's a small lot, but there's street parking. I believe we caught this place on a less busy night because it was raining, but it seems like this place is really popular so I would suggest making a reservation on their website. Would definitely recommend this place for some down home Japanese comfort food with a twist! read more

I had short wait until I was seat at a table. The server was nice and friendly. The service was little bit on the slow side. My food came out in weird order and my server did not check on me until towards end of my meal. I ordered green tea, miso soup, spicy tuna rolls and Tan Tan Ramen with pork belly. The spicy tuna rolls came out first and it was delicious. I was hoping the miso soup would had came out with the rolls but they did not. The miso soup came out with the Tan Tan ramen. Soup was good. I absolutely love this place. Shrimp tempura - this is not your typical shrimp tempura, it's not long pieces, it's more like popcorn shrimp and it is AMAZING. You will be fighting over who gets the last piece. All the rolls I have tried - Tejas, White Tiger, Spice Girls, Alaska, Caterpillar, Rainbow - are fantastic. Plenty of fish, perfectly textured rice and, my favorite thing, really really well thought out. I am not normally a fan of specialty rolls because they always come off as "too much." But not these. They are so well constructed and carefully assembled and every little flavor comes through. I was more impressed with the rolls here than I have been almost anywhere in my life. Bravo. I have also had a lunch bento box to enjoy the sushi on its own and was once again impressed with the careful assembly, freshness, and flavor of everything on my plate. Love love the environment here. Not something I normally comment on, but it's just so open and bright. Service has been outstanding both times as well. A taste of Kyoto right in the middle of Cowtown, Tokyo Cafe offers a great alternative to the usual BBQ and Tex-Mex options that dominate Fort Worth's food scene. I stopped in for lunch on a weekday and it instantly reminded of my travels in Japan, most notably by the gorgeous lanterns that adorn the intimate dining room. We started with a couple of cocktails, before ordering from their concise but authentic menu. The stir-fried edamame, dressed in a garlicky soy sauce, were delicious, while my companion's chicken yakitori was fresh and delicious. I went with the build-your-own bento box, and chose the fresh fish nigiri, featuring an array of salmon, tuna, and shrimp, the tangy cucumber salad, soft gyoza, and a deliciously simple salted onigiri. Served sweetly in a metal tray, it was a perfect lunch at a great value. A great option for a taste of something different, Tokyo Cafe is a new Fort Worth must. read more

Really cool spot. My husband and I ordered takeout but I could tell this place has a really high level of service based off the experience I had just walking in to pay and pickup. I was greeted, quickly helped, and also thanked before leaving. Not to mention, the food. We had the Avo bake, Temptation roll, and the combination Yakisoba with chicken, steak, and shrimp. I came to Tokyo Café during my stay at Fort Worth Texas, and I have to say that Fort Worth is slowly growing on me because they have amazing food. I am immediately drawn to the prices of restaurants because coming from Miami, Florida (my hometown) everything is priced very fairly compared to the new restaurants that are quickly being developed. If you come to Tokyo Café, I would recommend trying the Tan Tan Ramen. If you are looking for a lot of protein, you may have to add extra pork belly because a lot of the bowl consists of noodles. However, I like how there is an egg added to the mix. The service staff here is also very hospitable, and they will split checks for you. My friends also ordered different bowls, sushi, and the Ramen and were also pleased at the taste of the food. The ambience is relaxed, and I would recommend coming here if you are looking for a nice sitdown restaurant where you can lounge. read more
