Yoichi on Magnolia is an outstanding high-end sushi experience. The sushi bar seating only, creates a fun atmosphere where every course is expertly prepared right in front of you. The salmon with sesame miso, bubu arare, and white truffle oil was unforgettable. Lalo also recommended the Suigei "Drunken Whale" sake, which paired perfectly with our meal. Thank you to Lalo, Chef Mark, Chef Asher, and Chef Ian for making the evening so memorable. They were welcoming, interactive, attentive to allergies and dietary preferences, and made the experience feel personal. Watching the team celebrate together at the end of the night was the perfect finish. Exceptional food, genuine hospitality, and one of the most enjoyable dining experiences I've had in years. We'll definitely be back.

Omakase menu for Jan 3, 2026

I heard about this place through Fort Worth magazine. They mentioned it had an $85 12-course omakase. I was already sold on that. My wonderful husband asked if I wanted sushi because I think he could tell I was a little sad. Sushi always makes me happy. So I suggested this place. This place does not take reservations so we got there a little before it opened, 4:28pm ish. Thankfully there was no line. We were the first ones there and we got seated immediately in the middle of the bar. This place is counter seating only. I want to say there was only maybe 20-25 seats. It reminded me a lot of a Japanese speakeasy. It was moody and intimate. The only thing kind of lit up were the sushi chefs. We ordered 2 omakases. My husband has a shellfish allergy so they made substitutions for the hotate and the ama ebi. We started off though with miso soup to cleanse our palettes, then moved onto the chef's special handroll (fried fish cake), and kushi katsu which was tempura fried okra and kabocha (squash). The batter was light and didn't overpower the fish cake, okra, or squash. Really good start to the meal. Then our boxes came out. It's such a beautiful presentation. The chef explained each one and in which order to eat them. He said top row from left to right, then bottom row from left to right, and finally middle row, save the middle one for last. The middle one had the most complex flavors because of the uni and the caviar. I couldn't decide on a favorite, it's like choosing your favorite child. I will say though that the daily special sushi (Spanish mackerel) was by far the best mackerel I've had. Husband ordered more because this was his first meal of the day. He ordered the tuna and modai crudos. Both were so flavorful. The tuna was so refreshing with the mint and the coco zu. The modai was buttery and the pear zu really complemented the butteriness really well. He also ordered a 5 piece handroll set, which I didn't taste so I don't have any notes on those. However, because of hubby's shellfish allergy, instead of the scallop, the sushi chef made him a tempura eggplant handroll. Husband was very pleasantly surprised and wasn't expecting that flavor. The sushi chef said it's his personal favorite. Husband's last order was toro, uni, and Wagyu. The three pieces of sushi came out on one plate. The sushi chef told him to eat it in order as I had listed above. Husband described this dish as his "butter dish". Toro melted like butter; uni was like butter; A5 Japanese Wagyu was like meaty butter. We were already talking about who we can take with us to experience this. So we're definitely coming back! This place rivals Hatsuyuki as the best sushi spot in Fort Worth! Parking: there's a parking structure right behind Yoichi. Make sure to validate to get free parking!

The staff was fabulous and completely welcoming. The chefs were also knowledgeable and gracious the most important part was the fish melted in your mouth and had a great flavor Balance although some of it was not great for my pallet, I can see the perfection and the balance in all the different taste. Oddly they only serve regular Coke no diet soda, but all good Amazing sake selection all in all a great night all bar seating so not so romantic but lovely experience.

My friend and I happened upon Yoichi unexpectedly, and we were absolutely delighted with our experience. When we entered, we were immediately faced with the bar, and the restaurant was clean, dark, and cozy. We were quickly seated and guided through the ordering process by friendly staff. The miso soup was so delicious, and the brussel sprouts were incredible, I highly recommend ordering them. My handroll combo was $29 for 5 handrolls, and I believe the price was fair for what I received. Both the handrolls and the nigiri tasted very fresh. I can't recommend the salmon belly and red snapper nigiri enough. I'm so happy with all the food we received, and I've already recommended this place to friends in the area.

Random date night on a Friday and we chose to check out this new-ish sushi spot in FTW. Ratings are spot on - definitely compare this place to Hatsuyuki in vibe, seating, and quality. All the servers were super friendly. They don't take reservations and stay busy, so be prepared there might be a wait, but there are several dive bars nearby to bide the time in. A couple pieces of nigiri had some gristle but others melted in the mouth. Definitely worth a try if you're a sushi lover.

I have always said Fort Worth is an untapped market for good sushi. Yoichi is here! I talked to Chef Ian and he told me he didn't want Yoichi to be an omakase only place so he went in the middle with omakase and other a la carte options: handrolls, nigiri pieces, tempura, etc... Yoichi currently does omakase in box style because this is a time saver due to limited seating at the restaurant. This means instead of one piece at a time, they give you a box with 9 items ready to eat. The sushi is good quality and tasty. There are many other options on the menu as well. The decor is very stylish. The seating arrangement gives a very cozy and intimate feel to the diners. You can easily chat with your chef. ** if you like kohada, Chef Won makes one of the best kohada nigiri in DFW **

Yoichi is a beautiful, intimate sushi spot with only about 24 seats, and I really enjoyed the overall experience here. I ordered the omakase along with the 5 roll handroll combo, and the quality of the fish definitely stood out. Everything tasted fresh, the presentation was very clean and intentional, and I appreciated that they used real wasabi on some of the omakase pieces. The chefs behind the counter were fantastic and clearly passionate about what they do. I was able to walk in on a Saturday evening and get seated right away as a solo diner, which was great. The vibe is quiet, cozy, and feels like a more personal dining experience. Service was good, though I will admit it was not quite as warm or attentive as I expected for the price point. The wait staff felt a bit dry and not particularly engaged, which took just a little away from the experience. Price wise, it did feel slightly on the higher end for what you get, especially when I compare it to Hatsuyuki Handroll Bar, which is still my favorite in the area. That said, Yoichi is still a strong sushi option with great quality ingredients and very good execution. Sushi is my absolute favorite food, and I rarely give less than five stars, so it honestly pains me to say this is a 4 star review. It is really more like a 4.5 if Yelp would allow it. If you love sushi and want an intimate dining experience with fresh ingredients and beautiful presentation, Yoichi is definitely worth trying.

Triple Wow! Voted one of FW's best new restaurants & on the cover of FW magazine. This place was NOT over-hyped. In the old space of Shinjuku Station (in the the Shinjuku owners sat next to us last night), it has been transformed into a single counter bar where can watch the magic happen and interact with the sushi chefs! Our server did seem a little green and timid, but service was not lacking. Great saki and Japanese whisky menu! Food - 100% get the Omakase! Prepare to have your senses amazed. Visually stunning and flavor to match. Try a daily special (on the board) and a handroll. Run, don't walk and definitely don't wait. This place is special!

Yoichi is the BEST in fort worth in my humble opinion. Yoichi was absolutely phenomenal from start to finish. Every single detail felt elevated, intentional, and crafted to perfection. The moment I walked in, the atmosphere set the tone--warm, elegant, and refined without trying too hard. The service? Top tier. Attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the food. You can feel the pride in everything they do. And the food... wow. Every dish was a masterpiece--beautifully plated, incredibly fresh, balanced, and bursting with flavor. You can tell the chefs treat their ingredients with respect. Each course felt like its own little journey. Easily some of the best bites I've had anywhere this year. From the ambiance to the cocktails to the final plate, Yoichi delivered excellence with no misses. This is the kind of place you want to return to immediately and bring your favorite people with you.

    Omakase box, everything was exceptional.

My favorite Korean spot closed last week so I need a new place to spend Tuesdays. I chose Yoichi Omakase because it was near Magnolia Street one of my favorite haunts. Walking through the door of Youchi the staff was extremely welcoming. I was sat at the bar, not sure if there are other seating options, and it was neat watching the chefs prepare their the food. THE FOOD was amazing, buttery melting your mouth perfect flavors, perfect texture I really enjoyed everything put in front of me. Hamichi is my favorite and I believe there were two styles in my omakase box, saved the fatty hamichi with a dollop of caviar wrapped in sesame leaf for last, it was Amazing. I added the daily special Wagyu, and was thrilled at the smokiness and tender bite. Just order it, you'll know what I mean why you try it. I will definitely be back soon. Wishing Yoichi continued success, so I can become a regular.

I love the food here. The red tuna is similar to Maguro. My mom's favorite is the red snapper, but I actually like the Hamachi and Unagi the best. Also, the snow crab is phenomenal. Pieces are pretty pricey, but it's a better quality of fish. you sit at a countertop and the servers come around to give you drinks from in front of you or to the side of you, the sushi chefs deliver food in front of you. Ambience is modern cute, a lil dark but fun, not too loud.

Yoichi was such a great surprise. It is unassuming from the outside but the interior is beautiful. But what is most important is that the sushi is absolutely amazing. The service is great. It is an amazing experience.

Great new spot! Got the omakase and it was delicious. Stellar customer service, intimate setting. I do wish they had iced green tea options! But the yuzu honey hot tea was very good. I'll be back!

We walked into a space centered around sitting at the bar and watching the chefs prepare each hand roll in front of us, which gave the meal a more personal feel compared to a traditional sushi restaurant. The setup is smaller and more intimate, making the experience feel closer to a sushi bar rather than a casual meal spot. The biggest highlight is the quality of the fish and the hand rolls themselves. The seafood tastes fresh, clean, and carefully prepared, with options like salmon belly, otoro, kanpachi, and crab hand rolls standing out. We ordered a few different rolls and found each one well executed, with the fish having a clean, bright flavor that did not rely on heavy sauces or toppings. Each roll is made individually, so the nori stays crisp and the textures come through better than pre-made sushi. The menu has a good balance of classic choices and more creative combinations, making it easy to try different flavors throughout the meal. The chef interaction adds another layer to the visit. Since everything is prepared right in front of you, we could see the attention put into each piece, from assembling the ingredients to serving it at the right moment. The chefs were precise in their movements and took the time to explain the different fish and flavor profiles, which made the meal feel more like an experience rather than just ordering sushi off a menu. One thing to plan for is the wait. Hatsuyuki does not take reservations, and the popularity means there can be a significant line during busy hours. We arrived earlier and found it helped us avoid a longer wait. Seating is limited, but that also helps maintain the quality and atmosphere of the restaurant. The intimate size of the bar means the service stays focused and the pacing remains personal, even when the restaurant is full. Hatsuyuki Handroll Bar is one of the stronger sushi experiences in the area for anyone who enjoys fresh seafood and a more curated dining style. The wait can be a downside, but the quality of the fish, chef preparation, and overall atmosphere make it worth visiting, especially if you are looking for something beyond standard sushi rolls. The focus on craftsmanship and the personal interaction with the chefs elevate the meal into something more memorable than a typical sushi stop.

We ended up waiting about an hour and a half, even though we noticed other people arriving after us and getting seated right away while we were still waiting. That felt pretty uncalled for, especially since other guests who arrived after us were seated first, and a few other couples agreed. That being said, the sushi was delicious, and the service was very attentive and friendly. I just wish the seating process had been handled better.
