I am not sure if it was my taste, or their's. I ordered panang curry, with tofu. While there was service, (albeit rather impatient), the food didn't do it for me. So, they list their spice level on a basis of 1-5. I request a 'level 4.' The waitress chuckled and said "okay!...?" Anyway, it was as if they super cut the 'spice' with extra cornstarch and sugar, because that is all that I could taste. And when you combine that, atop of rice.... You get the idea. Came to Spice with my husband for a rare date night at 730 on Saturday night. Drove 20 minute from home and had a reservation. We were seated immediately upon arrival, and then.... nothing!! We sat at our table for exactly 25 minutes without being acknowledged. We waited as all the tables around us were vacated and servers cleaned them up and not a single person would even look at us so we could get their attention. At one point 3 servers were cleaning the empty table next to us and it was like we didn't exist. We were so frustrated after 25 minutes that even if someone had finally waited on us, we would have been too upset to enjoy our meal. So we got up, left our table at the back of the restaurant and walked through the restaurant past servers who still failed to notice us! It was just unbelievable. read more

This is one of our family's favorite go to spots. Really everything is delicious - from their curries to the larb, duck salad, Thai fried rice, soups - and a decent selection of wines to go with. Lunch is a great price and includes a side salad and egg roll, be sure to get the peanut salad dressing. The staff is attentive. We've always loved spice and ordered pickup for years even before covid (and even more during covid to be supportive) but tonight my husband went to pick up and they asked him for money for our extra peanut sauce. I don't mind paying for extra sauce, but $1 a tiny container seems extreme, especially without warning. If it's that big of deal perhaps add extra sauce to the menu with a price vs begging my kind husband for money? read more

The food was good. Although my pad se ew noodles were basically bottom of the box crumbled noodle pieces. The flavor was still right on and the boyfriends lo mein was excellent. Definitely on par with Thailicious or Thai Palace. On to service. Not so great. Absolutely no communication between servers and staff. After placing our order for drinks some one else came back asking what we would like to drink. Shortly after drinks were served we placed an app order and once again some one else returned to the table asking if we would like any appetizers. A different person put app plates down and it wasn't until the apps were served and they started to put more app plates down that they realized someone had already brought some. Twice after we were finished eating someone attempted to serve us another tables food. This was during an early dinner with only 3 couples eating and one party of six. The atmosphere here is awesome; modern, but cozy and inviting at the same time. Location is great, service is great.... ...but the food is pretty mediocre. I liked the egg roll that came as a side, but the rest was kind of disappointing. I've tried the green curry, which is more like grey curry and much too heavy, and I've tried the pad Thai which is too sweet for my taste. Also, for a place called "Spice," there was really no heat in my food! They didn't ask me if I wanted it mild, that's just how it came. I don't know if all dishes come this way, or if they saw a blonde white girl and just assumed I couldn't handle it. Either way, that's a demerit from me... I'm glad we tried it, and we had a pretty good experience, but we probably won't be coming back. read more

This is the best Thai food I've eaten point blank period. I visited San Francisco and none of the Thai places could touch Spice. The flavors just pop from the different spice combinations and fresh ingredients. The drinks were also refreshing and nice proportions. read more

We stoped at Spice after enjoying Artsgoggle in Magnolia. For how crowded it was they welcomed us very friendly and sat us down quick. My girlfriends and I ordered 3 diff appetizers because we couldn't make our mind with the great menu selection. We had spring rolls, egg rolls and chicken satay, all which were amazing. I so enjoy Spice. I love their vegetarian and gluten-free choices. This time I had the Pad Asparagus, oh so yummy. The tofu and Asparagus cooked perfectly. The wait staff was attentive and our meal arrived quickly. They have Sunday lunch specials, this means the menu is smaller but unless you want something way out there you should be able to find something you like. I gave it 4 stars because I did feel queasy by the time I arrived home. There may have been some cross contamination with gluten. Overall it was a nice lunch. read more

We hadn't been here for quite a while, and I'm really glad we came back. I like that in addition to the usual coconut milk other heavily-sauced curries that you can get at any Thai restaurant, they have specialties that you don't find everywhere. Tonight we had the spring rolls (with the wonderful, not too-sweet peanut sauce), calamari, and the Gai Yang - Som Tum -- the grilled half chicken with crispy skin and a papaya salad on top. We also shared a bottle of the sparkling, peach-flavored saki. Great meal for the end of a hot day that left us feeling satisfied, but not logy and overstuffed. read more

I went Friday night to have dinner with my friend. The food was good but not to die for. I think my biggest concern was the uncomfortable feeling of having a different waiter every 5-10 min. We didn't have just one waiter but multiple people. Different waiters kept stopping by asking us if we were ready to order, if we had finished with our plates, and if we needed the check. Where do I start? I was really wanting some roti, and my husband was wanting some sticky rice & mango. Now, knowing that the mango is seasonal, I went in to the restaurant to order instead of ordering online. They didn't have any mango, which I kind of expected. No big deal. So I ordered the fried banana, a side of sweet sticky rice, and an order of the roti. The young woman takes my order, I pay, and I sit down to wait. Maybe 10 minutes later, the same young woman (who was very pleasant, I must add) came out to inform me that they were out of roti. I'd already paid, so this was an inconvenience not only for me, but also for her. Would it have been so difficult to confirm that they did, in fact, have what I'd ordered pe fore I paid?? So, I watch the young server go up to what I assume is her manager and explain the situation, only to have that woman give her the most imposed upon look. I actually felt bad for her. I got refunded for the roti, received the remainder of my order and made my way home. My husband took one bite of the fried banana and realized that it was undercooked. The banana was cold, and the batter on the inside was still raw. On top of that, the sticky rice was hard. He called the restaurant immediately, and was told to come by the next day. When he went back, he told me the woman seemed put off by having to deal with him. Boo to this place!!! The servers themselves seem very nice, but the management sucks! read more

When I have a bad experience I don't completely rule out a place, especially when the food was once good. I have come many times after my last review. They hired staff that are friendlier than the original staff. You occasionally get one of the originals but I overlook it because the food is good. They are better at acknowledging you at the door. So I have to say it has been a good experience. I have now brought others to enjoy it too. read more
