PLEASE LISTEN TO THE OTHER REVIEWS - I didn't, hoping that maybe it was only a few bad experiences only for my clothes to turn out exactly the same. Six jackets and one pair of pants dry cleaned. They all came out, smelling disgusting (like when you keep something in the back of the closet too long) and like they were soaked in a sweat solution. The majority of my clothes smelled worse than they did when I dropped them off. I originally returned to the store after smelling one of my suit jackets on the way to work and literally gagging the owner. Tried to convince me the dry cleaning only got out 50% of sweat stain smell - which a quick Google search quickly disproved. Then, I smelled the rest of my clothes and realized I had to return again. I returned to the store in an attempt to be refunded rather than having to go through the process of disputing my credit card charge but the owner rather I brought my clothes back, and once I didn't accept that as a solution began ignoring me. I communicated that I did not want to bring them back as I didn't want the same thing to happen over again and my time further wasted, just for my clothes to smell even worse. I was simply ignored. Please, learn from my mistakes and go to a better place. read more

I am fine with over priced dry cleaning as long as the work ethics is there. I am also aware different cultures have different communication styles so I don't expect from everyone to have the same bubbly style greeting customers. We've used Sparkle Cleaners for a few items over the past year for dry cleaning and for alterations. There've been communication issues in the past and we normally return at least once after the initial pick up to clarify what we paid for but the most recent service will be our last. They burned my husbands suit coat and charged us for an alteration they never fulfilled, though we went back a second time and they said they would do it but turns out, it still wasn't fixed a week later. I'm giving them two stars since they've been able to successfully alter other items in the past but their dry cleaning services are subpar. We really wished we could have support this business into the future, especially because they have such great location. read more

Like if your a cleaners get the clothes clean. I only came here cause it was close by. A few of my mans clothes were brought in for cleaning and the stains were still there, they said it won't come out but I took them somewhere else and they're out. Price is typical for the area but not worth it if you can do the job you say you can. Or let people know this is going to be difficult clean and not set up bad expectations instead of yeah no problem. Totally disappointed! read more

Three pairs of trousers, dry cleaned and pressed 'with a crease' b/c I'm an old school sophisticate.. Five sweaters, only one of which is so low cut, you can see what I had for lunch the day before.. what does that mean anyway, really? Three tops. I could probably wash them in the machine or with Woolite (do they still sell that?) but I didn't want them to look like I'd rolled around behind the bleachers with the Captain of the Football team, so yeah, dry cleaned. The bill was $72.00, which is about 1/3 of what I've paid at Corry's in the past for the same amount o' stuff. They're really friendly there too and have a big thing o' candy on the counter.. granted, they're high from the fumes and that candy is probably one of the most toxic things you could ingest, but I like this old timey shop b/c they do a solid job and the prices are great. I guess I should have read the reviews first, so I guess this is on me. .i am from out of town and headed out on a big trip. I Brought something here to have a patch re-sewn on (it was still attached, but falling off.) they were really nice upon me leaving the vest. it was leather, they said they might not be able to do it, but would call me if there were any problems, I agreed because I needed this done same day. Never heard from them again, came to pick it up and they charged me $66 dollars. I appreciate the same day service. But surprising me with that sort of bill for a 6 minute sewing job is a joke. They wouldn't let me leave until I ponied up, and got very rude. Let's hope the thread they used was gold lined, because I'm broke now. I am really anti-dry cleaner with all the chemicals, the damage to the environment, the toxins, etc... However, I took my clothes here and they came back sparkly-clean! A bit pricy, but most dry cleaners are. Items were finished earlier than promised which was nice, however it took me a good 3 weeks to finally get over there and pick them up! read more

I'd never taken anything in for dry cleaning before, but after my boyfriend, um, got sick on my nicest wool peacoat, I knew I'd have to make the trek to Sparkle Cleaners to get it properly cleaned. I took the jacket in on a Thursday and it was ready by Saturday afternoon. When I picked it up, I was in and out within seconds. I took the jacket home to take a closer look and there was not a trace of a stain anywhere. The jacket looked super clean and good as new. I was more than happy! It was about $9 bucks and change to get the jacket cleaned, which I found to be quite reasonable. If I ever need anything else dry cleaned, I'll definitely come back to Sparkle Cleaners. read more

They own a Dry Cleaner and __Laundry__ service - yet, if you call them and ask "do you do laundy" they seem mystified and it takes 20 minutes to explain the concept. You eventually go in, after finally getting them to admit to doing laundry and even quoting a price of $15 per 10lbs and they again seem confused and finally say that it'll take a week to do the laundry. I use to go to this dry cleaner all the time, however after my recent experience I don't think I'll be going back. I had them heam a pair of pants for me a month ago. They happened to be a little long, and I don't have much time to bring them back. When I came to grab the bill, I noticed I was charged again. They said when I brought them in they would not charge me again. I bring a second load in and they attach another bill as if they didn't charge me the first or second time. there are more places in ballard to get dry cleaning done, and they will now get my business. read more

In the last two years Sparkle Cleaners has damaged a 200 dollar sweater, lost a 175 dollar shirt and a 300 dollar blazer. In all other instances of the last 2 years all my items have come back clean and looking good. When Sparkle Cleaners has lost or damaged my items they want to give me half of the value of the item and in the most recent case, the 300 dollar blazer, they say they do not feel responsibility for the item. Stitching came out. I took a pair pants to get hemmed and wore it once. On one of the legs the stitching came out. I took it back to the store and explain to them I just had it done and it came out. They wanted to charge me seven dollars to fix it but I said the work was just done I should not be charged. She says it's your fault it came out. Please take to heart my opinion and the opinion of others below and do not take your business to this establishment. I had been going here for over a year when last week I picked up two pairs of ruined pants that had been in fine condition when I dropped them off. One pair had several holes and the other had a large bleach stain on the front. When I went in to sort out the situation, I was yelled at and verbally berated. The encounter was extremely upsetting and the worst customer service interaction I have ever experienced. I've never heard of a business literally yelling at their customers. They will ruin your items and blame you for it. You are better off going anywhere else. read more

The shawl I gave this company to clean returned to me with significant wear and tear on the fabric as well as a small hole. The material was no longer full and soft, but could be seen through in parts and was a bit crunchy. I asked for financial compensation, which resulted in really poor customer service. Without going into too much detail, it included a statement that they only promise to clean an item, not to maintain it's quality. Sparkle Cleaners chose to not refund any money. This is disappointing especially because until then, my experiences had been positive. read more

My wife and I have been taking our dry cleaning to Sparkle on Market St. for years and for the most part, we've been very happy with their service. Sure, I forget my claim ticket almost every time but with the last name of See, it's not to hard for them to find our stuff. Back when I worked for corporate America and before everybody went business casual, I took my Italian-cut double-breasted suits there to be cleaned, even my scarlet red and green plaid tuxedo jacket and black trousers. Okay, I was pleased with my threads and when I sported them, (insert voice of Peter Graves) I looked handsome! End voice of Peter Graves. Just kidding! Sparkle cleaners kept those suits and tuxedo looking their very best. Those suits have long since gone out of style, been given away and have probably ended up on Boxcar Joe or somebody hopping a freight to Cleveland someplace, but I did keep my plaid tux for Christmas pictures, etc. I now have two new suits which are shared between weddings, funerals and job interviews (should I need it). Rest assured, those will be put in the capable and friendly hands of Sparkle when they are in need of dry cleaning. read more

Dropped off a winter jacket that had a few perforations. They cleaned it, which looks great, but the "fixes" could've well been done by a five year old. When I asked them if this was the best they could do, the woman said yes and left it like that. Didn't even offer to drop the price ($40 for this?!). Then as they were inspecting they realized they left a few scratches without fixing. I took it and left it at a different alterations spot. Never coming back. read more

The couple that runs this place is so super sweet. I don't really know how to rate dry cleaning costs, never compared, but they seem reasonable. One tip for this place though, always always always bring your receipt from drop-off. They have "lost" a few items (insisting that we didn't have a drop-off) only to find them on our next visit. You can't stay mad at this couple, they are so cute, and they did find our stuff, so no harm. Needless to say, we learned our lesson and always bring our receipt now. read more

I brought in my fur coat to have cleaned which I have done many times before to other Cleaners. I brought it to the Sparkle on 24th Avenue. Sparkle Cleaners completely damaged my coat. The hem was severely hiked up and the fur was ruined with lines running through it. I spoke to the woman at the 24th avenue Sparkle. I was directed to speak with the manager on 2011 NW Market. The manager and his woman assistant were both in agreement that it was my fault because I didn't tell the woman my coat was fur, which I did. The manager and his assistant continued to blame me and refused to listen to the fact that my very expensive fur coat was ruined. When I asked for compensation for my damage, he told me that his insurance would contact me. When I tried to speak to them, they told me they just do not understand English. When I asked for the phone number of the insurance company, he became very upset and told me they would call me. I have not heard from this insurance company. Taking my fur coat into a professional cleaner only to be blamed shows their incompetence, poor business practice and disrespect to their customers read more

Brought an old Slayer t-shirt that no longer fits me anymore to have them cut out the design and sew it onto a larger shirt. It took a few days but when it was done it looked fantastic. They cut the design straight and the stitching is excellent! I'm very happy with the way it turned out. Will go back for more custom work. read more

I was very dissapointed when picking up 2 dress shirts 1 has a large yellow stain on the front which they cleaned out for free and I appreciated. However my other shirt had a large amount of burned plastic suddenly on the collar. After unsuccessfully attempting to get it off, the shirt is not ruined. I tried to make it clear to the staff that they had caused this issue as my shirt did not have such noticeable damage when I brought it in. In the end I was not offered any conselation for my ruined shirt and was extremely dissapointed in the outcome. I will not be going back. At the same time directly behind me was a woman who also had much of the sequenced inlays in her dressed ripped off, I hope she had a better outcome then i. I've tried several different dry cleaners in Seattle, and still haven't found any that I'm in love with...you know, that place that can get out any crazy stain and always returns my clothes looking perfectly pressed and whom I would trust with the most delicate/expensive/vintage etc. fabrics? Anyway, Sparkle isn't necessarily that place, but I like them nonetheless. I took several pieces of clothing to them and they did a decent job. They didn't get some weird (probably very old) stains out of a vintage jacket, but I didn't really think they would. But all of my stuff looked better than it had when it went in. Also, when I went in I unloaded all my stuff and then left the bag I'd used with the clothes unintentionally. It was empty, but a pretty nice bag. I called and they told me I could pick it up with my clothes. When I went to get my clothes, the bag was hung up on a hanger with them to make sure I got it. I was very pleased! read more

I used to like this place for their fairly quick service but based on the last experience, I'll certainly never go back. I got back a dress shirt that turned out to have horrible yellow stains along the sleeve and collar. When I brought it back, I was accused of staining the collar and sleeve with food! I said it was their responsibility and the woman who owns the place began SCREAMING that it was my fault, not their problem, etc. People were coming in the store did a 180 out of there. It's not worth my time to get in a screaming match with someone over a shirt, I just hope my new dry cleaners can undo Sparkle's damage. read more

Do you like to be promised a price and a service, only to receive a different service that costs twice the price upon pickup? If not, DO NOT COME HERE. Do you like it when a dry cleaner does not remove any of the stains you brought your clothes in for, and tries to charge you for the full cost without alerting you to the issue? How about when you notice it, ask for it to actually be cleaned, and then on pick up they STILL do not mention anything and try to sneak it past you? If not, DO NOT COME HERE. I live a couple of blocks away and have experienced both of these issues MULTIPLE TIMES. Sure, 4 times out of 5 its service as usual. But each of these have happened so many times that the convenience of being closely is just not enough for me to come back ever again. On top of these unethical practices, the owners, in particular the woman, is incredibly rude whenever mistakes happen. She has never taken responsibility and argues, lies, and has threatened to un-do work she has done when I ask about why she is charging twice what she quoted me. When this is an alteration for an event that night, you don't have a choice but to be forced to pay whatever they ask. It is disgusting. Why go to a place that uses guerrilla tactics just for dry-cleaning? DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. read more

Terrible alterations. They have ruined four curtains of mine by not understanding simple hemming instructions and charging me $100 to cut and hem them to the wrong length. No apology, blamed me and refused to try to fix them without charging me again. I asked for a simple 1" hem and instead they cut off over 4 inches and then hemmed them another 4". Ruined. ABSOLUTELY THE WORST SERVICE EVER!!! I took in three dresses to be hemmed - two of which were the exact same dress, but different colors - when I picked them up a week later one of the dresses was hemmed completely lopsided in the back and the front wasn't even hemmed at all! When I brought the dress back in to have them fix it the owner/seamstress said it was MY FAULT that the dress was lopsided!!! First she claimed it was "the style of the dress"....ummm...the EXACT SAME dress in another color that you fixed wasn't lopsided! She then said "I'm the professional and this is your fault, it is not my fault!" SERIOUSLY?! I picked up my dress this afternoon and she says to me "I worked really hard on this, you pay $10.00"...I threw $5 at her and walked out. My original charge was $73 for ALL THREE DRESSES! SHE screwed up and I'M supposed to pay??!!! NEVER AGAIN!! I would say do your own hemming or find somewhere else, cause if anything goes wrong the customer gets blamed and robbed! read more

First time, last time customer. Brought in three pair of slacks, two for cleaning and one for hemming. The slacks that were being hemmed still had the store tags and labels on it. I received the slacks and discovered the next day the new slacks had an abraded hole on the right pant leg. I don't have much experience with dry cleaners, but if it takes 4 extra days to clean something, you need to communicate that to the customer. When I came to pick up my comforter on the day it was supposed to be ready, i got a blank stare. I got blank stares the following 3 days too. On the third day the man working there ignored me for about 5 minutes. He took my slip, got on the phone, had a lengthy conversation in another language, and then never provided any information other than "try again tomorrow". At this point I suspected my comforter was lost in the system. On the fourth day a different guy was there, and alas, so was my comforter. When I calmly explained my frustrations, he took $2.00 off the bill. Eh, not good enough. I will not use them again. read more
