    World Famous Fried Cheese

A Texas Tech hot spot! Quiet enough to have conversation. The food is unbelievably big, and good! The best fried pickles I've found so far, and I've had my share. It's mostly self service, but they are prompt with the appetizers and clean up quickly. My Buffalo chicken was great, but the burgers are pretty legit top contender. And the fried cheese, (mind blown). Must stop here if you're visiting. Great value.

Best fried cheese you will ever have and if not, please message me a better spot because I doubt it exists! The fried okra is also incredible; not too much nor too little breading, just right and tasty. The BLT had crispy bacon and a tasty mayo blend. Prices are very reasonable! Parking is ample, which is rare for being next to campus. I visited twice within three days because I was craving the fried cheese and okra again!

Just average food. All of our hamburgers had a hard bun. The fried cheese was great! The kids had chicken and enjoyed it.

a sign you should eat at Spanky's!

Multiple ppl told me to come try this place while I was in town so I decided to come. I ordered the fried cheese by request and then I got the Texas Philly per the cashiers recommendation. The fried cheese was really good. I only got the three count instead of the six but wish I would've got the six count. (Big back activity) but they were really good. A lil greasy but like In a good way. They were a good size as well. I liked the coating on them and dipped in that ranch was heaven sent! The Texas Philly is huge. It was really good and seasoned well. I wish it had like a lil more cheese on it but the flavor was good and the bread was soft! Plenty peppers and onions which I love. I think this was place was pretty decent but kinda sad they didn't have chicken wings. Their burgers looked very promising though. When I'm back in Lbk I think I'll try the bacon Swiss burger. Service was good and fast! The ambiance was nice, they had the tech game going and everybody was in high spirits until tech started losing.

I really wanted to like it. Seems like the food is an after thought. The cheese sticks were very cold, the batter was wrinkled up. Wasn't fresh. The chicken sandwich was ok, nothing special. The Monte Cristo was really over fried. Too greasy and crunchy on the ends. I threw most of it away. Fries had no flavor and were cold. This was our first and last time here.

The food here is good, I can certainly see why people like the fried cheese but I'm not a fan of quite that much cheese. Breading on them was good. Chicken sandwich was good and the cheesesteak was alright but again I could see some people raving over it. For me it's not my favorite, but I can see what people love about it and based on service and recognizing the quality of food they serve it deserves a 4. My next trip in I plan to try a burger and fried pickles

We were referred to this spot by a former student at TT for its famous fried cheese. The prices were reasonable, the restaurant was clean, & staff were friendly. We ordered at the counter and got our food quickly. I tasted hamburger(ade, chicken strips, fries, cheese sticks, & philly cheesesteak. The food was mostly hovering around average w/ a sober palate, but I'm thinking all of the grease might be more appreciated after some beers. Being across the street from Tech, I'm sure it's a cool place to hangout with friends(the upstairs especially) & grab a bite.

This is the fried cheese... Each piece is about the size of a stick of butter. But it's super good.

The space itself is adorable--think industrial loft vibes with exposed brick, warm wood accents, and that cozy, slightly artsy feel you get from an old brick building repurposed just right. It's the kind of place that feels calm and intimate, especially tucked into a quieter downtown pocket that gives off small-city charm in the best way. I ordered a loose-leaf green tea (I won't even attempt to pronounce the name), brewed French-press style, and it was so good--earthy, smooth, and surprisingly reminiscent of crispy rice mixed with green tea. Warm, comforting, and thoughtfully prepared. My husband went with an Americano, which was solid and well-balanced. They do offer food and small bites, but what really stood out was how community-forward the space feels. There's local artwork displayed throughout the café, all available for purchase, along with curated retail items like tallow products, cool tees, and other thoughtful little finds you don't usually see in a coffee shop. Between the cozy industrial atmosphere, quality drinks, and strong support of local artists and makers, Nashville Cafe feels less like a quick coffee stop and more like a place you actually want to linger. A really sweet spot downtown--quiet, creative, and full of character.

I preferred the iced vanilla latte a lot more because it had better balance of sweet and coffee. The mocha was fine but just didn't have a lot of flavor. Blue Sky Texas was a decent burger place…read more There are two locations as of April 25, 2026 in Lubbock, TX. This one is on the north side of town close to Texas Tech University. The parking lot was packed. I had to park kind of near the smelly dumpster and an unsightly view of a trashy lake or pond. So when my daughters and I walked in, we were not greeted. We snaked around the long horizontal pole meant to form a line. The chick at the register did not to be in that position. She was not nice. Did not listen. Was not courteous. It took about 25 minutes for our food to be ready. Your receipt will show the same number that should pop up on the number readers either above the meal counter or in the dining room near a TV. Here's what we ordered: Green chile cheeseburger ($11.49) Cheeseburger mayo only ($10.99) Bacon cheeseburger with ketchup added ($12.99) Large fries ($4.99) Small fried jalapenos ($5.79) 2 regular fountain drinks (2 @ $2.89) The patties were fairly thick. My daughter received several pieces of bacon on her burger. She was happy about that. The green chile was definitely on the very mild side. I loved it, but the juices saturated my burger when I dumped the cup on there. Soggy burgers are not fun. My bad. I didn't count that against them. The fries were really good. The jalapenos had a kick! The Coca Cola was super flat. My daughter let me try it when I was shocked by her admission about it. Lol. The dining rooms can get a bit loud. I could not hear my kids half of the time. Felt like an old timer. But it could have been that we sat between the food counter where you pick up your food tray and the soda fountains. Congested! It was the only table available at the time! Still, the entire staff seemed a bit moody. I did not appreciate that. The restrooms were decently cleaned. Overall, though, I don't think I'll be back.
