Interior - Vintage Games

Visited recently to check out what's new and ended up walking away with X-Men '97 #1 and a Dark Knights of Steel #11. The staff was pretty friendly and helped me look for back issues. They have a large variety of comics and manga, but I do think it's difficult to look through if you're looking for a specific title (especially if you have to look through the back issues section). Apparently they also set up a new additional charge for bags and boards? The details of the bag/board policy is labeled on the shelves. I didn't catch the details, but it's something to look into if you're visiting for the first time.

Clear receipt policy on games that wasn't honored during the return/exchange.

If I could give it negative 5 stars I would lol. This place is shady, unprofessional, and downright hostile. Their Pokémon packs aren't factory sealed, pull rates are trash, and I suspect they're weighing them. A friend of mine also bought games here under a "7-day return policy," came back in 3 days, and was told they only take returns if they're broken (never mentioned at checkout or on the receipt). Staff gaslit him, called him belligerent" for asking to speak to the owner, and one even screamed "F*** YOU" as my friend and I left. This place is a joke -- buy your games and cards anywhere else.

They had a poster from a sold out collectors edition that I've wanted for some time. They went above and beyond with shipping to protect the integrity of the product. Other second hand sellers were offering the same poster for FOUR TIMES the price that SuperSpaceCat was asking for. 10/10

SpaceCat has a wide variety of comic books, graphic novels, and manga. They also have some trading cards & vintage games. My trip to SpaceCat was solely for comics & graphic novels. I was very surprised at the wide selection they had for comic storage boxes and had been looking for a Batman one, which I ended up purchasing. They also have a large section of new/ongoing issues in the center of the store. It was a bit hard to pull out and go through issues on the bottom shelves since there isn't much space. This was pretty minor. All the graphic novels were sorted and alphabetized which made it very easy to find things. My only negative feedback is in regards to back issues. It did not look like there was any real organization system to them which made it difficult to go through since there were a lot of boxes. Other than that, my overall experience was positive and the comics & graphic novels were being sold at retail price.

Never in my life have I had a owner of an establishment treat and talk to me in the manner this guy has done. I wouldn't recommend this run down place to my worst enemy. Not only did he treat me and my friend like dirt but the way he treated his employees was horrible as well. So why you ask because I parked next to someone and another car pulled in and blocked the other car from being able to leave I was parked alongside of the car the other car was parked in front of the car. Which leaves the question how can I block a car in when I'm parked alongside the car in question. He kicked me out of the store and said don't return. Very pour business ethics this place isn't worth even a quarter star. Makes ya wonder how they are still in business. Disappointed shopper. Rick.

Ask the Community - SpaceCat

Do you assist with CGC grading?

SpaceCat does not assist in CGC grading at this time. We are actively moving forward towards this, and hope that we will have that option available by Summer. Thanks,…

Do you guys buy comics?

Yes! You can bring them in any time. We'll either make an offer at that time, or within a few days. Call 408.280.7257 to speak with a SpaceCateer!

Do you guys happen to also buy wireless keyboards or other tech items that may not necessarily be directly related to video game consoles?

Sometimes we do, if we have a need. Usually, we're looking for higher value items, above $60 in actual sales reports on eBay. Often, we buy that stuff specifically to sell it on eBay.

Do you guys happen to buy SumikkoGurashi dolls? They're a popular Japanese franchise haha

We might buy those, but probably not. They certainly are not our specialty. We generally stay away from plush or stuffed animal-type items.

Do you buy accessories for switches and manga or anime and Sanrio toys?

Yes. We buy all of those!

Hi I was wondering do you take consoles? I was interested in selling my Xbox 360 or maybe get store credit if that's possible. Let me know !

Yes. We buy all video game consoles, games, and accessories.

Do you all sell gift cards?

Yes, we do sell gift certificates in any denomination.

I recently came up on some comic book cards from the 90's. One is said to be worth $500, do you guys know how much cards are worth? Can you help me out with that?

One way to determine value is to find SOLD listing on eBay for the exact same item, but in worse apparent condition that yours. Cards are worth what someone will pay for it. For items determined to have a value over $40, SpaceCat will frequently pay…

Do y'all buy Pokémon cards?

Yes. You'll need to bring them in.

Do you have a copy of Lauren Tsai Variant Cover for Captain Marvel #1?

I should have one coming in Wednesday, and may a copy now. Call the store at 408.280.7257.

It's really disgusting how 80% of people in the hobby are larping manchildren that are no better than TCG resellers. 2.) I find that retro game shops across the US are generally really terribly ran with insane pricing, dirty interiors, bad selection, and rude staff. I'm happy to say that Gameshop Downstairs is the SOLE EXCEPTION. Their staff are very polite and genuinely want to help you find what you're looking for, even when swamped with customers on a busy day. Their selection is unlike anything I have seen in any game shop in the entire NorCal region, especially for late 2000s-2010s era games such as Wii, DS, and 3DS. I also appreciate that they have a wide selection of DVDs and BluRays - old anime, movies, and cartoons alike. They even regularly stock CRTs, and while a bit expensive, they do in fact sell at fair market price. On that note, their pricing is extremely fair, and even the more contentious pricing I saw was actually on the dot with fair market pricing when checking online. Even if some things are slightly marked up, I think they easily make up for it with the sheer amount of stuff they carry. I can't emphasize enough how good their collection is, I spent a whole hour here. The museum is really cool too. The mix of 80s-90s and 2000s-2010s gear made it a perfect trip for my Dad & I, since that represents the generations of technology we grew up with respectively.

Legends is a great place for finding collectibles and trading cards. I've been to this location…read moremultiple times and the employees were all very nice. During my most recent visit, the store was very busy (the checkout line was almost out the door!) but I was able to stop by and pick up the newest issues of The New Batman Adventures and X-Men. I asked an employee if they carried any Batman Beyond, but they didn't. (He was really nice and said he wished they carried more of it though!) This specific location of Legends has a very limited comic/manga selection and no back issues. If you're looking for comics, I recommend going to the Legends location at Eastridge Mall, which has a better selection of trade paperbacks, back issues, and current issues. This Valley Faire location sells mostly trading cards, collectibles/statues/figurines, Funkos, and board games. Overall, I still like coming here even though I don't always buy something! I always come back to look around at new items when I find myself in the Valley Faire area.

Very Disappointing Experience at the New Location…read more I was a loyal customer at their old location. They would always ask what I was looking for, and it felt like a very human experience. This time, I was looking for a card for my baby cousin, but I will not be returning to the new location after my experience today. I walked in and was completely ignored, albeit it is standard for a deadbeat college student not to give a fuck. My main problem was when I threw my trash into the trash can, like most people would. Twenty minutes later, while I was browsing all the pretty cards, the worker came up to me to say that the trash can is not for consumables and shoved it back into my hand in the rudest way possible. That being said, I do understand that they don't give a fuck. They're just there to make ends meet and want to continue the banter with the coworker who was allegedly an hour late. To be quite honest, I usually just take rude interactions and move on with my life, because life would be miserable if everyone started pointing fingers. It would just start a game of he said, she said, and I would rather keep the peace, but this experience just has to be heard. It was unprofessional, rude, and lazy. If your staff is more interested in gossiping than serving customers, you have a serious training and management problem at this new location. Realistically, nobody important is going to give a fuck, since people just come and go in most places, but for this experience, I just thought I'd let my thoughts be heard. All that being said, the products were great, just the workers there were not the greatest. I guess if you Wana just window shop or just enter and not be bothered it's the perfect place for you. Just don't toss ur trash in their trash. I understand that there j Is a trash can like 30 feet away just the way they were t about it was the most immoral way about jr.

The customer service, the vibe, and the selection are all sooo good. As soon as I walked in, I was immediately greeted. They asked if I was looking for anything and was shown to the card sleeve section. I've been to multiple stores that specialize in cards. Why was this the ONLY place where I found a large assortment of card sleeves for players!! Lol I met Anna(?) or Ann, and customer service was amazing, gave all information I was asking for, and showed me the weekly schedule. I am more of a mega competitive player (but not a sore winner ;-)), so I wanted to know what their schedule looked like, what is their most supported game, etc. I believe this is a more chill, casual, friendlies kind of vibe (not a bad thing at all), and I'd be open to doing more drafts or pre-release kits or something. Hoping to bring in my coworkers and friends! I can tell that they care very much about making sure they can support their community and create an inclusive and healthy space. Masks are not a big deal for me, they're effective especially nowadays with allergies, new viruses, whatever lol Lots of different card games in stock and tabletop games for rent, a cute dog and a big space for players.. but what really made things great was speaking with Al about Witch Hat Atelier. I've been to a lot of comic book stores, and I'll see the "Favorite Picks", but that's about it. Al and I talked about it, we went through the art, explained the intro, and it really brought me in. Al's passion for stories really made me want to look at this series. I didn't buy it, but I can honestly say that I'd love to come back to the store to find out what the next big thing is Al will share with me. I can sense that these folks are passionate, accommodating, and personable. Hoping for further successes!
