They've got a great selection of new comics and toys as well all easy to find. I don't know what the experience is like in the store itself, but I just called and got the weirdest rude attitude from the guy who picked up the phone. I was asking simple questions, as any customer would, like, "Do you sell singles of Pokémon cards?" and he just kept giving me one-word answers like he couldn't be bothered to help, and if I asked any followup or clarification questions, he'd say something snarky like, "Nooo, I didn't say that!" or "Oh, no! We're not gonna let you do that!" I was just hoping to have some fun on my day off and he really squashed my enthusiasm before my day even began. This place may be good for comics, but I tend to go there for trading cards. These cards are really over priced and it feels as if they only want to push their comic books. One time I called to ask if they carried a specific trading card product, and they asked me if I was local, and if I was in their database before they would answer my question. Then, I got an absurd price for the product! Also, I was in the store one day and asked how much a pack of 100 penny sleeves cost, and was quoted $10. For those unfamiliar, I can find a pack of 100 penny sleeves for 1-2$. Really?! They don't care about the customers that are in there for cards. The funny thing is, if they did, they would make a lot more money. I have a feeling they make more money off of trading cards rather than their comics, even with their absurd prices, but I could be wrong. Oh well. Go somewhere else if you're looking for trading cards. P.S. Some people WILL make an account just to post because they feel the experience was so bad that they need to share it with others. Don't be discouraged by accounts with few reviews. I may not review often, but my experience with this store was bad enough to post it. read more

Great comic store with a wide selection. I visited for my first time for free comic book day and purchased Battle Angel Alita Deluxe volume 1. They gave me a nice pack of free comics and when I asked for recommendations from one of the employees (slender white guy with a goatee), he asked me what I like and showed me some intriguing titles I've never heard of such as Fatale, Saga, and Kill or Be Killed. He had a friendly demeanor and gave a brief yet informative description of each recommendation. It's a great store with a cute name and logo. Came in today looking for Yugioh cards. Was met by the nice guy at the counter and he showed us where everything is. I negotiated about a damaged card and he went and asked the person in charge if it was okay. I guess the lady in charge was having a bad day or something and talked real loud and was being rude about price negotiations. Wouldn't do business here again. read more

Had a pretty good experience first time coming into this small shop off of San Carlos. I didn't get to meet the infamous owner tho. They have a massive selection of Pokemon cards, from individual cards to full booster boxes. They even have Japanese booster boxes which are hard to come by in this area. Would come here again maybe to buy some comics but the Pokemon cards here are pretty overpriced. For example, a Vivid Voltage booster box here would cost well past $200, but Mojo Break Shop has it for $144 before taxes. Pretty sure the Evolving Skies Battle Box is between $40-45 while other places are $25-30. Individual Evolving Skies packs are $6 but $3.99 at Best Buy. Good luck Pokemon hunting! read more

Sold me a $550 Pokemon Evolutions booster box that had been resealed. 30% of the packs were open at the seam when I opened this "fresh booster box" and the box contained ZERO cards of value. The owner, Bruce was highly defensive when I brought this to his attention and literally told me "if that happened to me, I wouldn't do business with that person any longer" Well Bruce, due to your absolute refusal to to do anything to compensate for the obviously compromised booster box I will heed that advice and take my (very good business, mind you as I would visit the shop and spend hundreds on the regular) funds elsewhere to shops with integrity and compassion for the customer. You put ego over good business and that's not a quality I appreciated with your passive aggressive, condescending attitude. Hell, you were reluctant to give me $4 off my $204 purchase tonight even after knowingly selling me a compromised $550 product in the past. Additionally, EVERY OTHER SHOP IN THIS CITY has better prices than you. I can tell you're struggling and I have empathy for that, that's why I was giving you business but character is everything and you have demonstrated a pretty shady character and for that reason, you'll no longer receive my business. I've used this store on and off over the years to pick up Magic the Gathering products, but it's always been a frustrating place to shop. The prices are always higher than other stores, and they charge a sizable fee for paying by card. Just today I realized how wild it was after buying a commander deck there- after all the fees and tax it was about $55. The same deck online or across town sells for $40, without any mystery fees, so a 37.5% markup. The only good experiences I've had at this shop were a prerelease event (while fun, it still turned out to have way fewer prize packs than expected), and when I picked up a used SNES at an actually alright price. After visiting on and off, I think I'm finally ready to just blacklist this one and move on. read more

Have yet to meet the owner, but have visited the store a couple of times this past week and have loved my experience. Safe, efficient, well priced, and well staffed with extremely friendly counter employees. Plan on coming in in the future to purchase/play more mtg (when things open). Awesome store as long as you understand the importance of covid safety AND understand that businesses aren't obligated to price every trade in item to what you, or even the web, thinks it's worth. They have a better understanding of what sells to their customer base and will basically always price accordingly; if you're so fixed on getting a price, list it yourself on eBay, see how it goes! read more

This location is the new SpaceCat location which apparently has been here for about a year. (It's been awhile since I visited the old location) They still have pretty much everything the old location had and it's still quite spacious. Though, still not as big as the older location. Staff is very friendly to the point that I'm shocked as to how friendly they actually are. Top notch stuff. They also have tons of retro games for sale as well as tons and tons of collectibles. Don't bother giving these guys your business.. I was treated very badly by the owner of the store recently. I brought an item in to trade in for store credit and decided to hold onto my item because I didn't see anything that I wanted at that time....Fast forward one week later I decided that I wanted a used condition Xbox series s console that I saw the week before on the shelf (marked up to $350, when they retail for $299.99 new and they are available in stores unlike the more sought after Xbox series x), so I decided to bring in the item that they previously gave me a quote for along with some other valuable snes games and a limited edition fight stick that was street fighter v themed. I hoped that my trade ins would get me close to their absurdly priced Xbox as I was planning on gifting it to my son for Christmas and with finances being tough since covid I figured that even if I lost a significant amount of value as I was trading in my stuff I could have made an exception in the spirit of getting my son something that I know he would love. Anyways, the owner approached me with attitude immediately and said that he wasn't going to bother giving me a quote because I declined to trade in one of the items a week earlier. I explained to him that I wasn't trying to waste anyone's time but I didn't see anything the week before that I wanted or could afford to pay the difference for. He insisted that I was trying to get something for nothing and treated me like a criminal or bad person in general. Please realize as you read this that I didn't bring in my stuff at an inconvenient time and I was the only customer in the store at the time and the employee who was working on the quote for me didn't seem to have anything else to do....long story short, the owner said he didn't want to do business with me and quickly turned and went to retrieve my stuff from his employee. I didn't get mad or even rude which I had a right to be I just said ok thanks for your time but I highly discourage anyone from doing business with these folks. They are the ones that want something for nothing and it is evident by the absurdly priced items in the store. Everything is well above eBay asking prices and week after week the same items sit on the shelf and the prices continue to go higher and higher. These folks should be willing and welcoming when you bring your stuff in to trade to them especially since they will be offering you pennies on the dollar. Went to the space cat to trade in my Zelda amiibos, a famicon classic, and super Mario world. I had 13 amiibos and the classic was complete in box. While he was helping me he got a line and said do you mind if I help 1 or 2 people in line I said sure, but while he was helping one customer he was just chitchatting it up. So the guy helps 3 people while I have been waiting a while as soon as he gets done with helping 3 people I figure ok I was courteous now it's my turn he wants to call another person over instead of me. WTF I go up and tell him ok now it's my turn and he goes well I have a line so I tell him yea but you were helping me already and gets upset and says fine I will finish. So he finally gives me a total 40 bucks for everything bro you serious. I wasn't expecting $500 buck but $44 come on now. Never going to recommend this play to anyone. read more

Great place to buy your books. clean, some times super nerdy but not all the time.

Very friendly staff--genuinely friendly. They are always willing to entertain any questions you might have, such as how to navigate your way thru the new chaotic Marvel Universe, or why the actor who plays Iron Fist is such a whining, pathetic angst-ridden crybaby compared to the bad-ass Iron Fist of the comics. The staff is always willing to help you and I met the owner, Bruce, and he was, again, seemingly sincerely interested in our conversation. They make you feel welcome, as if you are among like-minded friends. Even if they could care less, they do not bother you; well, at least they didn't bother me. The store is small but they pack in a bunch of stuff. The comics are a bit cramped on the shelves, and occasionally it's hard to find what you are looking for, but there's plenty there. If, on Wednesday, you are not already aware of what the new releases are, sometimes you'll find an old release sitting in the "New" release section, and you might accidentally buy a previous issue. My sense is that either they do not organize the shelves regularly enough on Wednesdays to insure stuff is in the right place, or some jackass put something back in the wrong place .Regardless, there are comics stores that just seem never to have this issue, such as Lee's. ( I do not always read stuff the week I get it. For instance, I got the first 12 issues of Green Arrow month after month, and then sat with them and binge read, but at one point I accidentally bought issue 7 thrice, for the reason stated above, with one being a variant cover--that makes me the unorganized one.) They do have a holds system in which you can give them a list of what you want and they will pull the titles for you, and you come pick them up--I have yet to do this because I have not decided on all of what to eliminate yet. One thing is for sure: The new Iceman will most certainly not be on my list--terrible garbage; just about the same for Jean Grey. They have a nice selection of discounted graphic novels, mostly Marvel and some DC, for those who want to get some of the older stuff. Back issues of certain things is decent but not as extensive as it seems to have been a long while ago. It's the friendly, excellent customer service that keeps me at this place. (One criticism of the customer service: If I come in asking if you have a particular back issue, and you look up the stock and it says zero, don't make me ask you if it can be ordered--you should automatically ask me if you can order it for me.) read more

I have been drafting here on Wednesday nights for 2 months. I went to draft like every other time and i was informed that as of Dec 14, 2016, not only do you have to provide your DCI number but you have to provide your name, cell phone number, and email address to be add to their promotional software. I told the clerk working behind the register that my DCI number and my $13 fee should be enough to play. That is when the clerk stated that if i did not provide that information per the owner's request I have to pay an additional surcharge if i wanted to play MTG standard. Not only did i refuse to provide that information but refused to pay the surcharge. Let me get this straight your going to let me play a game that i have to pay to begin with and your going to spam and sell my information, I dont think so, i will go somewhere else to play and spend my money somewhere else. read more

This review is for the retro game side of the store only. The two staff members I met had no knowledge about old school games. Every item they had priced was equal to or more than what you can find on eBay + shipping. If you're in a quick fix for a certain game/console be prepared to get overcharged. Look it up while you are there and be prepared to lol. Speaking to one of the guys who prices these video games. I was able to tell he wasn't an actual fan of retro games and he had very little game play with anything on the retro side.. He simply states that the newer game was better as you find a prequel. That's a great opinion but I didn't want to hear that when I spent $25 on ps1 & ps2 games for my collection. The feel of the store is what you would expect a 'retro/comic book' store style store to be like. It holds nostalgic feeling if the design was in 2002 and not the late 1980s lol. I say they're trying too hard to represent the past. If you liked looking at the blockbuster candy wall before checkout they have a mini version of that going on here too by the NES games. The only + to this store which is the extra star I give it is that they carry Japanese titles for ps1 & ps2. No other store does this. You could eBay them but shipping and bidding is a pain so buy them here while you can at overcharged price :D It's a rare spot to check if you're desperate that's about it. read more
