They came to pack up my 1 bedroom apartment in Chicago and all the movers were fairly pleasant. However, the driver was SO RUDE. He kept complaining that there was no where to park (mind you it's a city) and my relocation specialist was supposed to get a parking permit. He blamed myself and my boyfriend for not getting this although we were assured it was taken care of. At the end after 8 hours of packing, he told my boyfriend that it was a disgrace that we were so cheap and sad that we couldn't afford a parking permit. We ended up giving them all a tip, including the driver and he just scoffed at us and said this changes nothing. Additionally, nothing was wrapped in blankets in terms of the furniture which all has scratches and marks over everything. I opened most boxes almost in tears of how poorly the materials were packed and all the damages. After 8 hours, would have thought everything would be packed correctly. They also didn't label half the boxes for mark off and the moving company who unpacked me (different) even said they thought Planes did a horrible job and I should request money back due to how bad it was. This was supposed to be a stressless move due to having relocation services but was one of the most stressful times of my life due to Planes.

Not only did they empty my house but also the contents of my storage units which lasted until after 8:00PM. I could not have been happier with any crew. Days later I found items that I did not have ready for moving and without issue they were taken to the warehouse in Aurora and added to all my other items in storage. The staff at the warehouse was extremely courteous and easy to work with. I am confident that when my house is ready in AZ that the Planes staff will complete the job without issue.

In the past, when something truly urgent came up, they would call or at least send multiple forms of communication -- phone calls, emails, and letters -- so we knew to act immediately. This time, they switched to only email without any phone calls or clear indication that an auction was imminent. We had no idea things had escalated so far until it was too late. If you value your belongings, be aware that their communication practices are unreliable when it matters most.

Steve is a great manager and he knows how to run a business. He is very professional and makes sure you have the information needed to make a good decision. I have had 2 different size units at this location and both have been great. In fact, I had to get a larger unit and he walked me around to the different units, because I am more of a visual person. I had locked my unit, but I did not do the extra step and Steve called me to let me know that it was not correctly locked. If you need a storage unit, this is the place to store your possessions.

It started at the floor level and has crept up about 6-8" on the furniture. I sent them pictures of it and asked them to call me. They did not call. When I called them about it they said I can submit a claim to my insurance. They say they keep the humidity at 55%, but this cannot be accurate, as the mold would not grow at that level. Lately the place smells musty when you walk in, so clearly there is a problem. It did not used to smell that way before. They offered no mitigation and said they have nothing to offer me. A real disappointment.
