This place is my go to for paint supplies, but why are they closed on Sunday when most people are off and working on their cars?? that's something they should revisit. I would like to personally commend Isabella Moles. She was MORE than a salesperson. I went in looking for two colors of paint to cover the Army Truck I am restoring. Isabella was very helpful answering all my questions. She knows and explains so much more about paint and mixing than I could ever know and patiently detailed it to me. We went through many paint chip books to find the correct shade I was looking for and Isabella was very understanding when it took me a while to decide between two shades of color. Horrible service, gave them paint code and the paint didn't match the rest of the truck, they then asked for emailed pictures which I provided and then asked me to bring in the clients truck. I didnt have the time to keep waiting around for them to make I right so bought the paint somewhere else and showed them the difference between there paint and the other I received and it wasn't near the same and they still refused to give a refund. horrible staff, along with being $15 more for the same amount and brand of paint read more

I had bought a can of paint for $36.80 several weeks ago to spray my car. I gave them the exact correct color code for Cashmere beige. When I sprayed it, the paint came out dark gold, not beige. I had bought the same color with the same color code several times before with no problem, the paint matched. When I brought the paint back I did not ask for a refund, just that they make it the right color and give me the correct color matching the car and color code I gave them as they had done before. I took the employee outside and showed them the dark gold that came out of the can and how it did not in any way come close to matching the cars color with the color code I gave them to mix it correctly. She agreed it was the wrong color.They refused to make a new can of paint with the correct color and told me I'd have to repay them again $36.80 to get the right color, despite the employee already admitting they gave me the wrong color. They said the owner refused to do the right thing and make the correct color for the paint I already paid for, and did not care it was the wrong color. They make the mistake and refuse to make it right and steal your money!!! This attitude of our store never makes a mistake and even if we do, we've already got your money so your'e out of luck, is BAD, BAD, BAD business. If you scroll through these YELP reviews you will see giving customers the wrong paint color and refusing to correct the mistake without charging them twice, or offering to refund for the wrong color is a common practice. I heard about this place from a friend. I've been wanting to repaint the front and back bumpers on my car and they actually color match the paint in a one step spray paint. Very cool. The woman who waited on me was very nice, knowledgeable and helpful. She hooked me up with the items needed for the job and a step by step tutorial. It came to around $60ish for two cans of paint, bondo, two buffers and a small box of Tide. Very reasonable. She told me I can always call or come by if I need further assistance. The business is overwhelmingly cool with all kinds of paint and stuff I have no idea about! Haha. A paradise for an individual doing custom body work. There were all kinds of interesting relics on the walls, ceiling and floor. A heads up, wear a mask due to the heavy paint fumes. Good selection of supply's you won't find anywhere else. I give four stars because there simply isn't another place In town maybe even the state for an alternative. You could and would be better off online if you know what you want that is. The customer service isn't good employees are willing to help if they have to and aren't doing literally anything else and the lAst several times I've made purchases the items were bad because of expired shelf life's. There's obvious signs of this as you look around sucked up collapsed plastic bottle of paint you can't shake back into a liquid right on the self like buy me! I'll ruin all those hours of prep work, your spray gun and whatever else you might be using. This goes back years too. The first product was bed liner in white which I'm sure was a slow mover but still people rotate stock even if it means losing a coupe bucks not selling your customers hardened product. Next a water based paint exotic possibly maybe another brand but it was a candy yellow which was one of the last steps in a month long project that was ruined by the laziness or is it greed? of the store that's got 10+ year old products on the floor for sale. They were happy to replace my purchases when I took them back but that's nothing compared with the lost time. So maybe it's my fault for going back there but honestly I love the store the smell, the products, the potential, the history even the dukes of hazard car which I think it's likely gone due to The idiotic cry baby's of the current day anyway sad I get it . assuming it's a family business and I like supporting such it's nice to not be in a box store that's got exactly the same crap all over the country for once so I hope they don't close down like most others And I'm even going to recommend people go there but be cautious of the age of what you're buying. Had paint color-matched using their Wanda System Camera and this is their idea of matching and I am understandably pissed because I have a two-tone car now until I get it re-sprayed. I had to go to Napa in Phoenix to get the correct color matching done. This was Space Age's response when I called about this: Its your fault that the paint wasn't color-matched correctly and also you didn't give us a chance to correct it before you sprayed all of it!" 1. I had a professional painter spray it, I didn't spray it and so therefore how am I going to have a chance to give you a chance to correct it?? 2. I went to Space Age paint under the assumption that you would be able to match the color correctly when you use your camera on the trunk with the CORRECT Color. Thus I wasted $85 and wasn't offer a refund or anything but the EXCUSE that "we don't take back mixed paint" Well then next time Color Match it CORRECTLY! read more

Used to be good place to get paint supplies, today went to get some sand paper 3 guys waiting in line to check out they announced that they didn't have anyone for checkout after about 10 minutes they sent up a lady to check people out first guy she didn't know what he was buyin and what it cost after a long wait she called up another girl to tell her what product was and cost 2nd guy same thing she couldn't find price and what product was again with the girl from back then me I had 5 sheets of loop and hook sandpaper she again didn't know the price I told her tag said $1.14 per sheet still didn't ring up kept looking on computer screen called girl again she said she was busy couldn't come the lady said she found some for 1.49 a sheet I said just ring it up because now there are 4 more people behind me. It's all very well categorized and the selection is mind blowing. But honestly, what they do best is just being cool. There is a vintage British motorcycle and a Ducati Monster perched on top of one of the aisles, a restored WWII tank engine just sitting on display, a vintage Dodge Charger "Funny Car" body hangs from the ceiling, and an original streamlined 3 wheeled car from the 1930's in pristine condition...and more. Mr. P is learning how to paint cars for a hobby. I joined him for a morning trip to Space Age when it opened at 8. The shop has been in Mesa on Country Club for as long as I've lived here, and that's more than a couple of decades now. You can spot it by the spinning sign on the rainbow stand. So cool it's still there, as everything else gets so modern. Sorry, nostalgia! Inside the store has everything one might need for painting. There are paints, hardeners, thinners, spray guns, cups and sanding stuff. There are also fasteners and rivets of all kinds, rags, flashlights, books and resources. So much stuff that I can't even tell you how much stuff! It was all very well organized, and was easy to find items. The gal that seemed to be maybe a manager asked if she could help us. That's where the pleasantries ended. Mr. P did have a few questions, and she was NOT excited to answer them. And when someone asks how long, "not long" is not an answer! That helps no one...especially not someone trying to learn and to do it right. We waited for service at the counter, and were helped by a young man who was quiet but very nice. Mr. P still had a question about a paint, but felt so put off that he changed his mind about asking. I definitely think this is a cool store, but I wasn't a fan of the lack of customer service. read more

I have know of this store for decades, however I don't drop in often enough. I went in this weekend to get paint and other supplies to make my car look new again. I was prepared to pay for a custom paint mix, which they can even put into spray cans for those of us who don't own a air gun paint setup. However I was lucky and found the illusive color I needed from duplicaolor which I had searched many auto parts stores for. In addition to auto paints, sandpapers polishes and everything else you could need to get the job done, they have a large selection of auto fasteners. For added fun and interesting factor there are many museum displays around the store. From a giant allision engine from a fighter plane, to the body from a dukes of hazard car. Prices a good and they even have a "happy hour" on bondo from 3-5 pm every day. read more

Lost my business, horrible customer service! I went to space age for a pint of paint and 400 dollars in other supplies. I gave them the code from the door jam and verified through toyota the code was correct.1C6 is graphite grey pearl and I asked for that specifically. But when I sprayed color it was almost black, completely wrong. Went back to see what happened and it appears that different brands have different colors for 1c6 and I got metallic mica. So I asked for and exchange for a different brand that would match. He said I can't do that I'll give you 50 percent off. I said that's not right the 50 percent that I used is useless so I need a exchange. He said "I'm trying to work with you" I asked for another manager cause he said he was one, the other manager never came he finally agreed to do a new can filled up 75 percent cause that's how much I had left in the old one. What kind of bs customer service is this? It's not my fault you gave me the wrong paint when I asked for a specific color. A bonus I got was a downgrade in quality , mixed me a 35 dollar cheaper can. Bought some trim paint and sprayed some armrests for a customer and the dried paint came out 2 shades lighter. Took back to exchange and was told too much was used and that you can't go off the cap colors they don't match and you have to go off the color chart so I showed an employee the cap matches their color chart and was told they still couldn't exchange it. I went over to the "return used spray cans" cart and there are many there with over half used but they wouldn't exchange mine. Very unhappy with this. read more

I would say they carry almost anything you need to restore a ride, went in and they custom mixed some original factory paint codes for my 66 bug and are able to also put the paint into aerosol spray cans as well, very cool! They carry all of the best brands. I also was able to pick up some POR-15 for my chassis which I believe is the best type of coating for that use. Very friendly and knowledgable staff. read more
