The Spa at JW Marriott is simply wonderful. The staff and the quality of massage is top-notch. The lounge is very relaxing after the massage coma they put you in. Sara, Denise, Arielle and all of the staff genuinely care about you and your well-being. I highly recommend the experience. Simply wonderful to have a respite in the middle of downtown Austin. Thoroughly enjoyed my deep tissue massage with Thip she did a very thorough job on areas that needed some TLC. I only wish I had arrived 20/30 min prior to my massage to enjoy the amenities. I was actually running a few minutes late due to an issue with one of the bikes in the fitness room so my massage started at 12:11 and ended at 12:52, I feel like every minute of a massage counts so I was disappointed to lose precious minutes. However the 41 minutes I had were wonderful. read more

The staff working at the spa were wonderful. My masseuse was amazing. I had the "jet lag" massage and was very pleased with it - not too hard, but still felt like it worked out tension after traveling. The only thing I didn't care for was the mandatory gratuity they added to my bill. Truthfully I would have tipped more - but the nerve of a business deciding for me what I will tip really is disappointing...and the fact that I didn't know it until after the service is unacceptable. This spa is the cheapest afterthought to a hotel I have ever seen. My massage was great, but the amenities and layout are an embarrassment to the JW Marriott brand. The hotel should remove its name as to protect its image. For example, after changing into the robe in the locker room, you walk past the fitness room and through the main lobby to get to the massage room. Weird for me, and I'm a guy. Then you walk back through it all when you are done. The "lounge area" only has water and some crappy nut mix. No tea? And when I was done with the massage, none of the 5 chairs were available. So there wasn't a place to relax for a couple minutes. So I went back to the uninspired locker room to change. No face lotion or any other amenities to this locker room. I did manage to find a comb hidden away. I did tell the spa desk staff and they offered dinner or drinks at the hotel, but we already had plans. The manager did call later and offer us 1500 Marriott points. Eh. Save your money and go elsewhere! Way too expensive! read more

Beautiful spa and amazing views. I'm here cashing in on a Mother's Day gift certificate from my husband. I'm not staying at the hotel, but the front desk said I was open to use the gym and pool all day since I booked a service. I just finished in the gym and am all sweaty and gross. Ready to wash off and begin my day of relaxation. Turns out they won't let me shower in their spa since my massage appointment isn't until the afternoon. So now I get to sit around in my funk the rest of the morning. That pool looks pretty nice though...we'll see how the rest of this day goes. UPDATE: Their WiFi log in asked for feedback on my experience when I logged in so I posted the above. The general manager just came and met with me at the pool an hour later. He apologized and said he's never had anyone just come to the hotel to use the gym and the spa before. Usually their guests are staying at the hotel and just go back to their rooms to shower. He offered to let me shower and to buy me an iced coffee. I'm already dry now so I took him up on the coffee. I appreciate their responsiveness so they get a star back. We'll see how the afternoon spa treatment goes. read more

Went for a bachelorette. They cancelled two of our appointments day of because a technician was sick. We rolled with it! My manicurist Jacqueline was excellent. I paid and tipped cash. Thought it was overall a good experience! THEN. The maid of honor gets a giant charge. We realize that they have put most of our charges on her, even though we all paid separately. They refuse to honor one of the charges that was a cancelled slot and they charged me an extra $15 because "I couldn't confirm I paid tip with cash." And there was "no last minute cancellation" despite the fact they cancelled two of our appointments. Completely unapologetic and rude. They caused us an immense amount of headache and financial stress and I am so disappointed that our bride's experience was marred. Shame on you JW. read more

I came to the spa as part of a staycation my husband had set up for me as a Christmas gift. I am a new mom and this was my first night away from my then 4 month old son. My first experience at the spa was less than stellar, which I indicated when I completed a survey after checking into my room. I was immediately contacted by both the GM and Amy Ray, the spa manager, who took all steps possible to make sure I was happy. Since I am local I returned to the spa a few weeks later for another massage and it was a totally different experience. Jody provided a wonderful massage and I would absolutely return to see her. Amy Ray also checked in with me to make sure I was happy after my massage. I have stayed almost exclusively at Marriott/Ritz Carlton properties throughout my life and will continue to do so because of service like this. The reason I am not giving 5 stars is because of the amenities. Given the size of the hotel I went expecting a big relaxation room, steam room, sauna, etc. like the JW Marriott Hill Country and was surprised to find a locker room with 2 showers and a very narrow relaxation room with about 8-10 chairs. I would return because it is close by but if I am looking for a spa getaway the JW Marriott Hill Country is a far better choice. read more

This place is a joke for what they charge. When you spend $460 on spa services, you expect nice amenities. While my facial and massage were good, my complaints are with the common areas. The relaxation area you are taken to before your spa service only has 5, maybe 6 chairs. They were all taken so my husband and I had to stand up until our facial appointments. Not a good way to get relaxed before a spa service. The locker area is tiny. There were 5 of us ladies done with our services at the same time, so we all had to consistently wait in line for the shower, the one blow dryer, the two sinks to use the mirror, etc. I used the larger shower of the two and the shower gel containers were not labeled! I had no idea if I was putting shower gel or shampoo in my hair. When I got home my hair was a grease ball, so I'm pretty sure I ruined my toned hair by putting shower gel on it. Please label your containers! According to my husband the men's side is labeled. Having hosted an event at the JW and hosted a room block at the JW as well, I can not recommend these amenities whatsoever. read more

I booked a same day appointments for my sister and I to have massages on a Sunday morning. I was planning to book online and then it looked like the appointments were gone- when I called they quickly accommodated and scheduled our appointments. We were there around 10 AM so the spa was not crowded yet and we received excellent service! Our massages were both great and the relaxation room was also really nice. It was a nice spa experience. We were staying at the hotel so the spa made for a much needed post Christmas pre-New Year treat. Had a wonderful hydrafacial with Marilyn. She was warm and professional, with excellent skills! Highly recommend her and will book an appointment during future stays. The other elements of the spa, while aesthetic pleasing, were a bit disappointing for the tier of hotel. The women's locker room was small and cramped, but did offer post treatment body and hair products. The waiting area is too small to accomodate guests on a busy weekend. If a auxillary waiting area could be offered it would go along way in keeping the experience relaxing. read more
