Room was very comfortable and music softly playing in the background (review said that music was pumped/loud). She stated with a dry massage, with the blanket, and went into the official oil massage. Yuni definitely knows what she is doing because I didn't need to tell her about my problem spots she hit them right away! I was surprised at her strength and she literally almost had me so relaxed, I could have drooled while on the table. She did full back, legs, hips and arms. She didn't have me flip over but I got exactly what I needed so I felt no way about that. When she was done, she thanked me and I proceeded to get dressed and be on my way. Paid cash and left tip with the cashier and left feeling so relaxed. Convinced that this will be a monthly occurrence for me as it is so close to work and cost effective. Great job Snowflakes!

Thai Senses was just down the street from my hotel so it was very convenient. I was able to book a massage online through their website. I don't know all the various styles of massage, but the descriptions on the website steered me to a Thai-Yoga combo massage. Booking was easy, but right after they called and asked if I could move up a half hour earlier to accommodate their schedule. Wasn't a problem for me so I agreed. The spa is in a little high-rise building sandwiched between taller ones. I walked right past it, but then I saw the address numbers and walked back, counting down, and there it was. Inside was a little hallway with a security guard in front of the elevator (made me think of the Men In Black movie!). He was friendly, asked if I had an appointment, and then made me sign an In/Out list with my name and where I was going. Not a problem, I understand the need for security. When I got up to the spa, they were already expecting me. The staff were professional and courteous. I left my shoes at the door and was shown into a room right away. The room was warm with quiet music playing. It was clean and smelled nice. The therapist did a wonderful job with my massage. Ask for Mona - she was fantastic! It was over all too soon - I got an hour, but I should have scheduled a longer one. I can't speak to how their prices compare with other spas, but I was very satisfied with what I paid for the massage I got. They hit me up for the gratuity on my way out the door. I rode the elevator back down, signed out of the guard's log book, and I was back out on the street. A very positive experience overall. FYI: The workers here barely speak English and the massage beds are separated with curtains. We were taken to our section where they had two massage beds. They didn't ask us any questions or how hard/soft we wanted. They also didn't tell us who the masseuses were until we laid down on our front side. I had a male masseuse and my bf had a female masseuse. They focus a lot on the buttocks and lower hips/tail which is fine because I feel like masseuses in general don't touch the buttocks. Tbh I enjoyed the massages under the blanket, but the oil massage was a bit too long because I would get cold as I laid there half naked from the top to my buttocks. Feel like they should cover up some body parts if they are not massaging that area. Lastly, the hot stones wrre a bit too hot for me. However, I very much enjoyed how they massaged our head to toes. It was very much needed. I say 80 min felt a bit too long. Therefore, you get what you paid for and it was a great deal.

Our friend called Spa45 on a whim around 4:00 PM on a weekday, and they were able to accommodate our group of four on short notice! We each opted for the 30-minute foot massage ($30). The therapist provided just the right amount of pressure throughout the session and it was just what we needed to unwind and reset after a long day. The spa has multiple rooms with maybe 4-6 padded sofa-chairs per room so they can accommodate many clients at once. One time the masseuse was switched on me mid-session with no explanation or warning and that was pretty odd. They also put a dangerous amount of pressure on the root of the scalp area while pulling it upwards which doesn't seem safe at all. They've even got some sort of sound proofing thing going on because whenever I've come here there hasn't been traffic noise - it's truly a peaceful oasis in an otherwise frantically crowded neighborhood. That being said, I've now come here a few times. My manicure have always been ooookaaaaaay. But I return because it's a wonderful experience. You lie down, there are comfy pillows, almost an eerie silence with very calming music playing overhead and it always smells lovely. It's a great way to spend a lunch hour and kind of recharge your batteries after a rough morning. This past visit (probably like my 5th or 6th - I don't always remember to check in) my manicure really wasn't okay. It was bad. I hate having to do things like ask for the nail file and file my own nail after someone makes it significantly shorter and files it into a crooked square shape...when I try to keep my nails a nice medium length (rather than short :-/) and I was clear about wanting a more rounded square. I had to fix a few after I was done...I also had to ask for my (very attentive) nail tech to paint the sides where she would miss a lot of my nail...having to fix some left some nails darker than others. She also did one coat of the deep blood red polish I chose and then a top coat. Any polish, especially darker colors require a minimum of 2 coats. This is pretty common nail polish knowledge. She was so nice and I was nice about it but after paying and getting to my office I was pretty horrified at how my nails looked. They were all really weird. Lots of marks, lots of unnecessary thickness, some air bubbles - I was pretty upset. There's also usually a brief complimentary back rub done afterwards which is a really nice treat and something I got used to the previous times I've come here which makes the experience worth coming back for considering every mani I've had here has been ooookay. Yesterday's was not okay. There are photos. Today I've got two nail polishes where the polish has chipped from just typing at work...my normal Astoria spot manicures generally last me 3 weeks. I'll probably return sometime for a couples massage or something as I mentioned my fondness for this place to my husband, but I don't know if I'd come back for another manicure. I don't do my nails that often and I need consistency...plus it hurts to spend money on something that's meant to treat myself and the final result is something I could have done to myself 100% better. The entire team went ABOVE and BEYOND to make my second experience pristine! They were apologetic and accommodating. I truly understand that things happen and my skin did not agree with something, but their willingness to correct it trumps my flare up. My return was met with concern and an eagerness to provide excellent care. I can't stress how much they apologized and it felt so sincere. Sometimes you get poor service and people make excuses or worse than that, don't acknowledge your concern at all, but that was definitely not the case here.
