The massage was amazing and my only regret is that I didn't make it longer to allow the masseuse to get all the knots out of my back. (Upper body massage) The women massaging me was around 25 lbs lighter than me (I'm about 130), but she was incredibly strong and applied much needed pressure to my back. This was my first massage and I will be going back One thing that was a little jarring is after i had taken off my top and was on the table, the women had me lift my hips and slide my pants to below my butt. They share the entry & front desk , but have 2 different business cards on the desk and I suspect they pull the nail techs to do services when busy. For example, my friend and I went in for our foot reflexology appointments. It was a short wait despite having booked on line. 3 minutes later the desk person said we could go to the right, which we agreed to, and the nail tech women did the foot massage in the pedicure seats under bright lights but nice, tranquil music. During my massage I am asked if the pressure is too much or too little when different areas are being worked on. I tip reasonably (20-25%) for exemplary service. I pay cash. I brought my boyfriend for a couple massage as part of his birthday gift through groupon for a 90 min couple massage which included essential oil and hot stones. He loved it. The masseuses were great. The only downfall is they don't offer you any refreshments or robes. They have a water fountain in the waiting area. Overall, I felt a bit rushed. They immediately escorted us to the massage room and advised us to lay down by facing down on the massage table with underwear and bra on (for men- only underwear) with masks on. My masseuse went at it nonstop. She was really strong. When they were immediately done, they turned on the lights and said "Finish!" Then they waited for us to get dressed and we were escorted out. I went for a massage this evening and I am not a fan. I felt incredibly rushed and it wasn't relaxing at all. I tried my best to relax but the person doing my massage moved so quickly and did generic massage and it didn't feel customized for my body as if he knew OR he did know and he didn't care. My massage was painful but not in a deep tissue painful way. More of a careless way. Definitely not how I would like my massage to be. You can feel the energy. Painful in the skin basically chaffing, not deep tissue painful. When I had asked for more pressure, that didn't happen. I also felt uncomfortable when I was leaving and paying because the person that did my massage and another woman laughed and said something in another language. If it feels weird - probably is weird. I had asked for a woman when I got there and a woman was not available but when I came out, I saw two women doing massages in the chair. The walls are thin as noted in other reviews, but I don't think there were loud, obnoxious people there other than us at the time, so we weren't at all bothered. We were on our stomachs the entire time with a sheet covering body parts not being worked on at the moment. Sandy, my masseuse, was thorough and applied just the right amount of pressure for me without asking me about my preferences. (Some experienced / intuitive masseuses really are able to figure this out non-verbally.) She and her colleague were both very focused despite, I think, having just worked on another couple beforehand. The digs aren't posh, but are spotlessly clean, nicely lit, kept at a good temperature, and quite pleasant enough. The Pardner and I both walked out feeling lighter and looser. First let just say Jim gives the best foot massages. I have gone this spa 6 times once for a body massage and the other times for a foot massage. I have referred 2 customers to them. On 9/13/24 I purchased a foot package 6 for 200 bucks. I paid in cash, upon leaving I don't remember getting a receipt. Fast forward I came back on 9/21 for another foot massage. The guy at the front desk states I never paid for a package deal. Mind you he was rude, dismissive, condescending, and smug. I insisted that I did, so he looked at the video showing that I did pay. I asked him for an apology he just chuckled try to make light of it and gave me a gift certificate showing I had 5 sessions left. My friend was with me and she even told him my name and stated that an apology was owed to me. He refused to apologize. I even told him he should even in good faith give me a free massage for belittling me in front of customers and staff. His resolve was to give me back my 200 bucks. The same money he claims I never gave him to begin with. So I see that Spa Massage Broadway would rather send away a faithful customer than to apologize for being wrong. Got a deal to come here for 1 hr massage and manicure. The space was clean and staff was polite. You get your own room for a massage instead of curtains. I'm giving 3 because I felt the massage was so so. The pressure was extremely lite. I'm usually a medium pressure kind of person. I have a lot of tension and I think she should have observed and changed the pressure to accommodate that. She spend more time rubbing up and down then getting into the knots. The room was cold and the towel to cover you is not wide or long enough so your feet aren't left sticking out and cold. Also she didn't massage my feet. The Groupon said aromatherapy and I didn't smell anything :/ The manicure was much better she did a pretty good job. So this is my second time here for a mani/pedi and i actually really like the way this tech did my manicure but both pedicures were not up to par I felt like they were so quick and the leg massage was a wipe down with water from the foot soak and a scrub. Both times I was the last person to sit in the pedi chair and the first to get up and the tech was the same. The first time i paid extra for callous remover and felt as though it was a regular pedi so this time i just got a regular pedi and still unhappy. Although my husband and I felt that we should leave at that point we decided to try the experience as we made an appointment. The massage tech was not ready until 20 mins after our scheduled time and no one mentioned anything about waiting or apologizing for the wait as we had to stand up as theres no chairs to sit down. After the massage that we paid ahead of time for by credit card we paid the tech $15 tip in cash. She pushed for $30 each which is an additional $60 total for doing nothing special at all. It was the worst experience and we will never return. We dont appreciate employees begging for tips. for subpar service. I don't want to say that race plays a part in their service but we noticed that the Asian customers were greeted and were received with a smile meanwhile our interaction felt more cold and transactional. I was really looking forward to having this massage done because my coworker was raving about how great it was so I was thoroughly disappointed by my experience. I am a pretty picky person when it comes to my massages. The women spent the first 20 minutes doing the massage with the sheet over my skin, instead of lotion, so it was painful at points. My massage was scheduled for an hour. If you combine the time it took my masseuse to get to the room, to get hot towels to wipe my lotion off, and her cutting my session done at 12:59 when I was scheduled at 12, I did not even receive a full hour. Following this, when I went to pay for the massage it was an awkward experience. I am a big believer of tipping. I tip based on the service given. I gave the women that treated me a $10 bill for a $45 60 minute massage. After I did this, the other women that was ringing me up for the total pointed to a sign. Again, I am on the spot so I did not feel very comfortable at this moment but the sign said that for 60 minute massages, a tip of $20 is expected. I told the women I would trade her a 20 for a 10 because honestly I was not in the mood for this crap. But I will NEVER be going there again. I have never seen something so ridiculous. One of the best parts were when she used the hot stones, but it was short lived because she passed them over my back using 5 strokes, and went back to rubbing my back having the blanket between us. Our temperatures were taken as soon as we arrived, were given ample hand sanitizer and alcohol spray. Staff members were all wearing masks and face visors. You are asked to wear your mask during the massage--the portion when you are on your back--and all the massage table covers were disposable. The spa was spotlessly clean. The massage quality was exceptional. Our last massage was in February and our bodies had been screaming for a good quality treatment.
