I come here every few weeks to get my eyebrows and upper lip threaded. I hardly ever wear makeup so having my eyebrows shaped is important. They do a reliably good job and I'm always in and out within 15 minutes. Also the prices are very decent for the area they're serving. I'm very picky about my brows as I have had bad experiences in the past with other folks nearly taking off all my hair or making my brows super skinny. But Rashila is great. I asked her to keep them full and just fix them up. I am not someone who fills my brows on the regular so it's important to me to have a good clean shape. I normally don't write negative reviews, and I feel really bad while writing this but I'm extremely upset at the quality of my eyebrows after visiting Sovan's. This is the second time I've been here. First time was good and they were able to clean up and keep the natural shape. Today I asked for a simple clean up after growing my brows out for several weeks and she changed the shape from angled to ROUND and both eyebrows are very uneven. Additionally she made the front of my eyebrows so much thicker than the back, and they were also unevenly cut. I'd rather just go home and fix them myself than pay $25 here read more

Couldn't recommend higher. I travel a lot and can honestly say that Rashila was the least painful, easiest threading experience I have had. I wouldn't characterize threading as painful exactly but there can be some discomfort when the hair is being pulled out and with Rashila I felt almost none not to mention she did a fabulous job. I had my eyebrows done by 2 different ladies, one of whom is great. The other one however gave me the worst threading experience I've ever had. It was so painful and my skin was burning and had a lot of bumps afterwards. My eyebrows came out as uneven as they could possibly get (they looked better before the threading) and she laughed when I told her that. So I just recently moved to the Bay Area from LA and desperately needed a new eyebrow threading place. I had read the reviews and seen before and after pictures and was really excited to try out this place so I convinced my sister to go visit with me and even found a Groupon for the salon. I was really excited but as soon as I walked in I was skeptical because one of the employees (not rashila), who ultimately ended up doing my eyebrows kept apologizing to the client prior to me. Anyway, I still gave benefit of the doubt and say down. It started off nicely, she asked me how I wanted my eyebrows and I told her I typically like them arched, but not crazy. She seemed like she understood and proceeded to thread my eyebrows. Not once in the past year that I've gotten my eyebrows threaded has the thread broken, but somehow she managed to break it about 5 times, maybe even more....it started hurting a little but I figured it was because I hadn't had them done since November... End result: multiple cuts, no arch, and the the beginning of my right eyebrow is now thinner than my left one, as well as having both eyebrows thinner. I am posting the before and afters of the most recent work from the North Hollywood salon Brow Studio I had gone to and the before and after of Sovans work...you will see a notable difference as well as the multiple cuts I received. All in all will never be back nor recommend it and I apologize to my sister because she received even worse work from the actual owner who didn't even ask what she wanted and extremely thinned them out read more

Note that while appointments are not required, you may need to call Rashila (the owner) beforehand because I have tried walking-in several times before 11 am during the weekday, only to find the salon closed. I've gone to Sovan's three times since moving to San Francisco but was disappointed with my last visit. Rashila was not present but, rather, her younger sister. I was a bit confused at first because I realized she wasn't Rashila but still proceeded to allow her to thread my eyebrows and upper lip. I noticed that Rashila's sister kept breaking the thread every few seconds, which made me feel very nervous about her ability to thread (see Valeria H's review below)! Seemed like she was new. In the end, Rashila finally walked in and noticed that her sister missed several spots and tried touching up. If you're picky about your eyebrows, I would caution allowing anyone other than Rashila to do the job! read more

I'm come to Sovan's several times for my eyebrows and the ladies here have always done a good job. My only complaint is their staffing. Because Sovan's is located in FiDi, they're usually pretty busy after work hours. However, there's usually only person available doing threading and this results in long (up to 30-40 min) wait times. Would like to see them have at least 1-2 additional people available at peak hours to curb these wait times. read more

I've been to SO many threading places and while this place is good and clean, she jus zips zaps across your brows and is very quick so has minimal precision. She also will start taking hair out from all over your forehead without asking or waiting for you to tighten the area. I don't know what the hurry is considering there's never a long line or wait and when I was there she was working as if the place was closing in 2 minutes. Clean, quick, affordable, and amazing results! I found Sovan's through Groupon. I purchased 3 sessions. My original eyebrow threading place was getting expensive and I desperately needed a new place. For my first session, my eyebrows were decent, but I didn't love it. My next two sessions were spot-on! I asked for a clean-up, and in less than 5 minutes, Rashila gave me beautifully-shaped brows. Sovan is right at the corner of Commercial and Montgomery, and you enter through the door on Montgomery. It is one of many little shops inside the building and it'll be on you left once you enter. Rashila is so fast! I think I was in and out of my appointment after 10 minutes. I have a low pain threshold for eyebrow threading, but because she was so fast, the experience was also less painful. She also uses organic threads, whatever that means Remember to ask for lotion afterwards to soothe the area surrounding your brows! Tip: A couple of reviews mentioned the Groupon deal. I went to the building where Sovan is located to have other kind of service. On my way out I discovered Sovan's Eyebrows threading. I love the threading method for eyebrows and up lip, areas that I have gotten it done for 4 years. Rashila was very friendly and I waited only 5mins to be the next on her chair. But unfortunately she seemed to be rushed.... I felt heavy hands on my face, my lip got swollen and I had to go in a different place to have my eyebrows fixed. She left few hairs behind. This place was amazing! Everything was just great! The lady that did my eyebrows was extremely efficient, friendly, and gentle. The service took less than 5 minutes and I love how my eyebrows look now. The place is small, organized, and clean. All the materials are nicely organized and it seems very hygienic - which was one of my biggest concerns when looking for a place to get this service done. She cleans her hands after dealing with a client, the thread is disposable and goes to the trash can after being used. They take card or cash, so don't worry about how you are going to pay. The only reason I'm taking away a star is because she was 15-20 minutes late for our morning appointment and once she came in, she rushed through it even though there was only 1 other girl waiting outside. tldr:: Kind of painful. Good price. Knows what she is doing; loved my results. Located in a building in FiDi, I was surprised to find this place offering threading services for a good price point. $12 is not too bad considering the location. I would consider myself a threading noob cause I have only gotten it threaded a couple of times (aka this is my 3rd time). She went through the whole process really quickly. It did hurt when she was threading my brows (had to shed a tear or two). But, the results made the pain worth it. I didn't even have to tell her how I wanted my brows, and she made them look great. She gave me a nice arch and evened them out (something I have been waiting for lol). I am really happy with the results, but I noticed a day or two afterwards that I started getting these bumps which turned into pimples by my eye-brows. NOT OK. I think my skin was getting a reaction, or the pores weren't used to being opened up, or something. My friend got these bumps almost right away, but she told me they went away.
